Looks like the new one is called the gt60 gt60 249us.
I was searching around for gt60 3630qm and found this:

Not many details on it, but seems to be that it will most likely be called that.

Hey everyone, I have a quick question for you regarding the keyboard on the GT60. It's kind of hard to explain but I'll try. Have any of you noticed a hollow, vibration type sound when tying on the keyboard? At first I only noticed it on the space bar, where I hear it almost every time I hit it, (I am hearing it at the moment), but just today realized if I give the keys a quick hard tap I can hear it on most of them. It is most noticeable in the space bar though. The keys themselves work fine its just kind of annoying hearing the sound when I'm typing. Can some of you tell me if you've noticed this or try tapping some of your keys to see if you can hear it too? Thanks.

 

Btw, preorders for gt60 0ne 249us have started.
Only changes seem to be processor and windows 8.
Too bad, I really wanted a multi touch trackpad!

 

Another change is that it now comes standard with blu ray reader/writer.
You can downgrade that to just blu ray reader for 50$ cheaper, or regular DVD drive for 70$ cheaper on XoticPC

 

hello. does anyone know if there would be a GT60 sku with a 675MX? i looked at the xoticpc msi laptops, but didn't seem to find any.

 

It also now comes with the Killer 1202 wireless card.

It's odd, xotic and gentech have slightly different prices.
Xotic has blu-ray reader for $50 less and dvd for $70 less, while gentech has blu-ray reader for $30 less and dvd for $60 less.
And only gentech comes with the 1202,

Think it's worth it to buy a 256gb SSD seperately? And if so, best one that's no more than around $200? I was looking at the samsung 830, Crucial M4 and the OCZ vertex 4.

Everything are running smooth, and I'm going to upgrade my RAM.
It comes with a 2x4GB RAM and I want to upgrade it to 16GB of RAM.

It appears that the mouse is slightly different in the 0ne-249 US compared to the 0ne-220us.

On the gt60 0ne 220us MSI Mobile page located here
the mouse has no red spot at it, and is one single bar.
On the gt60 0ne 249us MSI mobile page located here the mouse has a red line on it, like the gt70, has two buttons instead of one, and has the 5 notification leds in a different location.

 

I don't think this is correct.

According to the official MSI Page, It has the same chasis but added features.

HI PEOPLE the led buttons for turbo boost and turbo fan is not so sensitive i mean i have to put a little bit effort to open the cooler boost is it normal? Do the fan boost its self during any game or do i have to manually boos the fan with cooler boost. do i have to open turbo boost and cooler boost in every game....


By the way my left side of the keyboard gets hot and the fans are not cooling enough i think? The fans are giving very small amount of air why?

One side of the keyboard can get hotter because of where the hardware is located.

If you think the fans are not cooling enough, check your temperatures.

 

I'm about to buy the 0ne-249. Guys should i go ahead and buy or is there any more hardware changes or issues with this model?

 

I know a few people were wondering about a superraid version of the gt60.

Does anyone know the release date for the 249US? as I've only seen the starting november thing, I'm dying for a review.

 

Should be oct. 26 as that is the date when sites like gentech and xotic are shipping it.

And there still are no reviews of the 220us after 4ish months, so I doubt that there will be any of the 249us right away. And if any reviews come out for the 220us they would apply to the 249us, as there are quite minor differences between the two(Bigfoot 1202 doesn't affect performance and blu-ray doesn't either, it's only really the processor and the .1ghz won't really change anything that much)

On that note, you could really just look at a review of any gt60, but then use either the gt70 0ne for benchmarks, or the Sager np9150 review here on nbr for benchmarks.

Turns out that the killer 1202 comes standard on the gt60 249us so xoticpc will be updating that soon on their page.

 

anyone getting throttling during gaming load?

After much research I testing, I have discovered my CPU is throttling when playing certain games. During games such as Battlefield 3, at random intervals my FPS will plummet for about 6 seconds then resume back to normal. At first, I assumed it was related to the GPU. MSI afterburner shows a massive usage drop on my GPU during these periods. After noticing the clock speeds not dropping, I decided to look at the CPU. During these drops, I am noticing the CPU voltage is dropping. I am using a tool called Throttlestop to monitor the VID and Power values. Both these values drop JUST during this small interval. Since the temperatures are acceptable, could this be related to PSU? Here is a snipet of the drop.

Is this a CPU or PSU issue? I'm using the standard power adapter for the GT60 ONE received from MSI. Anyone have any advice?

 

I asked this some time ago, but I haven't been able to purchase a laptop yet, so I want to see if I'll get different responses: Has anyone had trouble with the quality of this model's LCD? The MSI GT60-0NE-249US appears to be the best compromise for me, but I can't buy one with a 95% gamut screen.

 

I haven't had any problems with the LCD. This screen is the best i've ever owned.

 

It looks like Best Buy is carrying the GT60 0NE-240US model or will be shortly. I managed to come across it via Google and a cached web page ( Link) with SKU 6928035. Has anyone heard one way or the other when it will be available? I noticed a few weeks ago they took the GT60 0NE-220 model off so I knew something was up.

I'm looking into buying this laptop for video/photo editing and programming. The 680m has 1300+ cuda cores, which blows the pants off even quadro 4000x cards.. which makes it an even more powerful workstation. I'm sure I'll game on it some, but I'm a leisurely gamer and rarely have time anymore. Off the bat I was planning on a 256gb ssd to go with the 1tb hd, 16-32gb of ram (how many slots does it have? 3 or 4? If 4, then definitely 32gb). Does the trackpad support multitouch / gestures? That's pretty important..

 

It looks like Best Buy will definitely be carrying the GT60 0NE-249US model, I found a live website via Google today. Unfortunately it isn't in the searchable database yet and the Best Buy support people do not have an ETA yet.

I pre-ordered a while ago from xoticpc but have not received it yet.

 

There are some driver issues with Windows 8 that's why the shipment has been delayed, the issues will be corrected and start shipping early next week.

Bah, Newegg now has an ETA of 11/15. Any word on an actual release for the 0me-249 model?

 

Nothing just yet, it was likely an issue with the touch panel and TDE IMO. They had to do workarounds for my P1 button as it was.

 

it seems that with the release date being pushed back, it no longer fit my tight schedule...

Just got a GT60-0ND-250US laptop. I bought an SSD separately and have been unsuccessful at transfering the OS from the HDD to the SSD. I may need to do a clean install. My question is, if I do so, will the touch buttons still work or will I need to download drivers for them? (ie. Turbo, Wifi, etc.)

There's also the software to control the backlights for the keyboard. Is there somewhere to download th KLM software if I do a clean install? I couldn't find anything in Google.

I'm concerned if I do a clean install my laptop will not function as MSI intended from the factory.

 

It will all work as long as you install all the correct drivers from the disk or MSI's website.

 

Touch buttons require the S-bar.

I'll be sure to post pictures/videos of the unit when I get it. I plan on using it for cad/cam software, along with 2d software my plasma table uses. Other uses will be video editing as I have hundreds of gigs of video awaiting editing. My samsung 840 pro ssd came in today as well. I decided to hold off on the 32gb of ram for a while, couldn't afford everything at once.

It's other uses will be car-tuning related and datalogging etc. Also electronics / programming stuff. Big plans for this laptop! First things will be setting the SSD up for windows 7 / linux, and have windows 8 setup on the stock harddrive, which will depending on bloatware, get a clean install.

Probably going with 200gb windows 7, 50gb linux / 4-6gb swap on the ssd. Then on the main drive, resize the windows8 partition to ~100gb and set the rest as storage space!

 

As expected, world-class service and communication from my favourite shop GentechPC!!!
