Personally I flashed my 16f3 with a gt 60 bios (of the same generation of course) but I can't offer guarantees of course.

    Well... There`s a big surprise...
apparently my GT70-Ones battery lost its ability to charge more than 40%. and the old "consider replacing your battery" appeared.
So, where can i find new one, and how much does it going to cost?
BTW - has anybody encountered the same battery issues losing power after less then two years?

Yes laptop batteries get busted fairly quick. There are a lot of companies On eBay that sell both copy and genuine batteries.

Be aware of some crappy batteries that may be using old cells internally, they may work but having shorter life due to recycled/used cells.
If you can get a quality battery at fraction of cost of a genuine battery, then it's great.

so I have the GT70 dragon edition 610U, love the lappy, but purchased Crysis3 this weekend and i am crashing continually, I am getting CryEngine Error DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED ea blames it on optimus not using 680m. I seen that Ken tested cry3, did he have this issue, does anybody no a solution ?

Seems to be a common problem; cryengine + maybe a little overheating + driver version. No simple solution - google around. And forget that EA optimus bull.

cool thank you, kinda what I had figured. Think Ea tired of trying to dodge a bullet, and willing to place blame anywhere. Actually claimed that my onboard intel could do 60+ fps on high settings in cry3, and was proof of 680m issues.

    Thanks again,

    Ken

Anyone had any issues with their GT70-ONE and their Bigfoot 1202 + Bluetooth setup? Got mine from Gentech and I cannot get my Bluetooth to pair with any devices. Running Windows 7, all the bios/ec/firmware has been updated to the latest and am running the newest Qualcomm drivers from the MSI site (the new ones from their site don't work on Win7).

Everything looks ok, I just searches forever and never finds anything.

B173HW01 v4 (or v.4 depending on the listing), it's got to be that version (4). It should come up straight away if you google AUO 90%.

Also i'v read that the v4 is the matte and the v7 is the gloss.

Left side i believe but that screen can only have it in the right place. Make sure you order from a store saying you get exactly the screen you order and not a compatible alternative.

    Hi guys!

Just got my refurbished MSI GT70 0NE today.
    Questions:
    1. What tests/benchmark should I run to make sure the system is what it should be and does not have any defects? (I have very limited time to return if problem is discovered)?
    2. Are there any generally accepted and safe methods to improve gaming performance? (like tweaks or practices or boosts which everyone does with their GT70)?
    3. It comes with Windows 8... Is there any indication (performance wise) that it is worth to roll back to Windows 7? (I am fine with interface, interested in FPS gains/losses).

    Thank you so much!

    Congrats on your computer!

    1. Prime95 and Furmark are the most popular stress test programs. They will make your CPU/GPU run harder then normal programs do so if they are going to fail anytime soon those typically will make it happen.

    2. MSI Afterburner is a good program to use for overclocking. Just be careful and adjust clocks in baby steps being sure to test for stability after each change. The above programs are great for testing that too.

    3. Windows 8 should have no issues with games. Keep in mind its been out for almost a year and a half so any issues have been worked out.

    Congratulations on your purchase.
    3. You can change the OS to Windows 7, but it's always good to generate a backup of the original copy of Recovery DVDs.
Change Boot mode from UEFI to Legacy to allow the Win7 installation to work.

Thank you for all the advices!
Sticking with Win 8.1, works well so far...

But now to the question of performance. I ran 3D Mark 11, and got 4000ish result (I saw folks signatures here showing around 6000)...

Why? Does it mean I need to overclock? or did they do testing differently?

    Thank you!

5850-6100 is my saldo depending on the driver, default clocks. Check if your processor and 680M are running at full speed (meaning around 3.2 GHz and 771 MHz) under benchmarking.

Thank you zipperi - I guess I will need some help here - I ran it again and the score is 4054. So below the score, where it shows the specs I can see:
    Graphics CardNVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M
    Core clock - 324 MHz
    Memory - 3,072 MB
(you said it should be 771 Mhz and I read its 4GB video card?) - how do I change that?

    For processor it says:
Reported stock core clock 2,400 MHz
    and
Maximum turbo core clock 3,392 MHz

How do I know which one it used?

That very last test where 2 dues are fighting (the one which shows FPS) - showed no more than 7-8 FPS all the time...

Try a few things 1. Make sure the laptop is plugged in. 2. Make sure the laptop is in performance power mode. 3. Enable your 680m gpu in nvidia control pannel as it looks like optimus is running your Intel gpu judging by them clock speeds. 4. Close all other programs.

My score is a bit higher to most standard clock gt70 scores because I have a slightly more powerful cpu in mine.

    That's about OK, it's a heavy test.
You can run for example MSI Afterburner on the background to log the GPU frequency onto a file - or GPU-Z .
GPU-Z shows the specs of your card and the clock frequencies on the sensors tab.

Yes the frame rate on that test is always low as it's intended to stress triple SLI 780ti.

    Gentlemen,

Thank you for all the suggestions... What I did:
    1. Put power settings to "High performance mode"
    2. In NVIDIA panel put the 680m as main card (and made sure it is 680m for 3dMark 11).
    3. Closed all the programs (including antivirus)
    4. Pressed Turbo and that Noisy Fan button on the laptop
Ran 3dMark 11 - and it still came up with the score of 4025

I logged the GPU-Z sensor this time. That's what it shows:
GPU temp was in range from 31-65 (over 55 mostly on that last test)
GPU Core Clock [MHz] - from 130 to max was 770.8 (again it drops lower, but during time that final test was happening)
GPU Memory Clock [MHz] - 162, 400 or 900 (same as above)
Memory usage - max was 1529 (didn't it have 4GB?)
VDDC - from 0.837 to 1.012 (1,012 for last 10 minutes of the test).

I am not quite sure how to log what processor is doing (I've downloaded CPU-Z) and in the core speed window it shows 1197 Mhz for a second and then 3392 Mhz for a second. And keeps switching. I can't really log results (and if I alt tab during the 3dMark 11 test- it still keep showing the same on CPU-Z, test is being aborted at that point).

    Any ideas would be welcomed!

That is quite bad. Your temps seem fine and this is what I would do. Update your chipset and BIOS considering you have just received your laptop. Clean install of the latest nvidia drivers. My stock clcoks 680M with i7 3630 QM gave a 6000+ score on 3DMark11 so you should be getting similar or close results.

HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools , Throttlestop, OCCT, Argus Monitor - use something like these to get a log file of your CPU speed so you can check if it clocks down during stress. And a GPU-Z log file confirms that your GPU speed stays up - or a MSI Afterburner graph. My GPU clocks constantly down in Afterburner graphs if overclocked even 20-30 MHz.

It may even all come down to a fault with your power brick. Not supplying enough wattage which is then causing it to throttle and give you poor performance.

Thank you zipperi. So this is what I did:
    CPU 4 cores clock.jpg

This is just that part during that fire strike thing.

I have no clue if going sometimes back to 1.2 Mhz (one-two at a time) is a normal behavior for a processor... To create it I logged with HWiNFO and then put into an excel graph. What do you think?

    Saiyan96
What BIOS do you mean? CPU or GPU? Part of why I am so concerned about this test (apart from 4000 being low) - is that the laptop is MSI refurbished. And I wanted to see if they "refurbished" it right. And now I do have concerns. I've heard that flashing BIOS could be dangerous? And I never done anything like that myself... Would not it void warranty? Will the windows be needed to reinstall? And again, do you mean GPU or CPU bios flash?

    dale350zman
How do I check this? I did create this other graph for you to see voltage on the cores:
    CPU 4 cores voltage.jpg
Could you say anything looking at that?

I also tried yesterday with Throttlestop 6 on. That did not change the test results...

    Quite a puzzle, isn't it?

IMPORTANT - I've also downloaded MSI afterburner, and overclocked to +135/+700. Then I got 3Dmark11 result of 4600. So it seems like my base for some reason is lowered by 2k points, and it just overcklockes from there.

I really appreciate all your guys thoughts and suggestions. Maybe you would recommend any forum members here who (while not checking this topic) - may be knowledgeable of my issues?

firestrike is not 3dmark11, its 3dmark13, and if you are getting 4000+ scores for firestrike it is normal

I've bought my gt70 w. gtx780 and ssd + hdd config. I'm hearing wierd hdd noise, like a "click" every couple of seconds like the hdd would put the header to idle position. Its quite random, but not more than 5-10 seconds apart. Kind of a noise a hdd makes when you boot it up but without hearing the discs spin, only the "tick" sound read/write process. Dont know how to describe it more precisealy. Is it normal hdd noises that just are more accesible due to hdd beeing basicaly in the front of the laptop? Old laptops had the hdd where the ssd is sitting now, in the back part, so maybe thats why? Can anyone try to listne to their hdd on the bottom of the laptop while idle state is on?

Did you have this symptom previously since you got the laptop?
If yes, find out the name of manufacturer and use the HDD manufacturer tool to modify AAM state.

I was thinking about buying the MSI GT70 from GenTecPC since they offer the IC Diamond 24k thermal compound for free but I was wondering if it's even worth it. I've found the same computer for a little cheaper on other sites and was just wondering if it was worth it to get the 24k.
