Hi trigger..is that a stock vbios or vbios that came from prema? or svl7? IF that vbios came from svl7 then you should update to his ver2. Ver2 is flawless no matter what driver you using. BTW.. I am using " Nvidia Vulcan" Drivers now. much better than standard drivers

You can download the file here.
    https://biosmods.wordpress.com/gtx9/

password for the files are the following:
    premamod.com or biosmods.wordpress.com

Eh Guys. I have a question. It's regarding my friends Laptop which is an MSI GT70-Haswell. It's got a stock bios. Last time I saw the bios ver was 70x and not the 71x. I helped him upgrade his videocard and cpu. I saw that his bios got a password which I unplugged the cable of cmos battery and re-inserted it from the board. The problem is that the password is still there. He wants to update the bios but the password is halting him to upgrade it.. Is there a possible solution to this one? I don't know if there is jumper with this board though.. If you have any suggestions kindly post it here or pm me.. Thanks

Hi omega939, i have flashed the vbios you provided but i am still getting the same orange light (nvidia) instead of white light (optimus).

Fan speed still random rev up while idling.

Is your msi gt60 in orange or white light currently?

I was thinking maybe its because of the difference in EC. I am using T18 and you are on T19.

It's currently in orange light mode. IN bios Primary display is set to "SG". If I put it to IGFX then upon boot and in windows power switch light is always white. Does it matter if it's white or orange if you have a beastly Maxwell card in it? If you find an answer let me know too. And you must have an unlock bios to set the primary graphic settings to your desired configuration.

How are you able to determine that this is the correct modification based on this hardware ID? I see you are pointing to section044, but how do you know thats the right driver config.

Hi All - I'd just like to say a massive thanks to the people that have contributed to this forum. Yesterday I was able to upgrade the 670m in my MSI GT70 0NC to a 970m - all thanks to the hard work you guys have put in figuring this out. THANK YOU!!

Using GPU-z to monitor performance, I notice the temperature the GPU runs out seems to be a steady 77 - 79 degress with the card at 98% load (playing Xcom2). I noticed no issues after several hours of play but just wanting to confirm that seems reasonable?

Ask Svet to help you to flash the VGA BIOS to the better one which can also take official driver without any need of modding.

The question is. What notebook model does he have? If it's a haswell based notebook then it doesn't need a modded .inf. If not then he needs a modded .inf

can you help with creating a modded inf for 362.0?
I tried to use the one on the link - it gives an error while installing (with signatures disabled).

Which is strange - as that modded inf has that 13D8... or is that not enough?
Gosh, I totally forgot how to make it work :D

PS. It just fails on different step. When I do the installation without modded inf - it can't find hardware. If I do installation with modded inf (one with 13D8 introduced) - it starts copying files and then gives an error "Nvidia Installer Failed".

Oh, why oh why I decided to update those drivers :D

this is not upgrade specific per say but some of you may of run into this so i am going to throw it out there.

i have a gt60 that i got on the cheap from a friend as it was dead, so replaced the motherboard with a medion erazer
i flashed the bios so i can disable the fan spin issue running only integrated.
i picked up a gtx 675m the other day for 50 (threw in a working i7 3610qm dont feel bad for me :) )
when the GPU is plugged in the thing will not boot, no fans no response at all with or without battery
i have to yank the power brick from the wall and remove the battery to reset it, remove the MXM card and it will boot.

only thing i have yet to do is take out the motherboard and table test it without the casing, its almost like its shorting the thing in some way, i see no bent pins in the MXM slot.

no warranty and no intention to send it in for repair, it works fine otherwise but would LOVE that GTX to flare up

Gosh. So with your inf the installation has indeed started, then - blue screen of death
    System_service_exception (nvlddmkm.sys)

And it kept happening right after MSI logo... Then on the 4th try, it offered system restore and I understand put the driver back to the version installed in July 2015...

Now here is the puzzle, right?
Was able to boot to desktop - then next reboot it is just a black screen. Something really nasty is going on. Was able to boot eventually, but it takes forever.
Checked the boot log - there are like 20 times repeated one line:
    BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\dxgkrnl.sys

I understand something is wrong with DX... Online the recommendation for a fix is ... Update your graphic card driver :D

What do I do? :( Stuck with the old driver AND some weird things happening to laptop now..

That subsys is pretty odd - in the Nvidia inf it's 11xx.1462 and yours is 1558.1462. Checked a MSI inf - the largest subsys is 1192 so your BIOS is different. Perhaps that's the problem, some special settings needed?

    Omega, any ideas?
Honestly - I have no idea what subsys is - or what to do about it, rather :D
Does it mean we need to add more subsyses to driver - or change BIOS?

    There are several factors

-What vbios version are you using? stock , svl7 or prema?
    - If you're using premas vbios ver1 (the old one), you should update to ver2 and all is well. If not then the problem is like what you've mentioned.

    2nd Question.
What Processor does your nb have? Ivy or Haswell?
    - If you have an Ivy bridge and if you bought that mxm card which is meant for msi. You should update it to svl7 or prema vbios.

    - If you have a Haswell, make sure you have the latest bios version 71X for GT70 or 51X for GT60 so that the bios can read properly your vcard.

    Hello Bailante,

Give a try in the INF file attached.
    I took it from Laptop2Go.

I have a GTX 980M (13D7) with the same subsystem (1558) which is Clevo.

Download the oficial driver package and replace the INF file in the Display.Driver folder.
Try again, I hope your problems will be fixed.

I'm using the same driver version with this INF, no problems were found up to now.

    @DM

He's got a 970m (13D8) vcard and not a 980m. You can check his previous post in device manager. We've got the same gpu. The only reason for him to go in windows is by uninstalling the drivers. If he got an unlock bios he can force the igpu to be set as primary and disabling the nvdia card temporarily so he can uninstall it in windows. Then reboot go to bios settings again and enable SG graphics from IGPu and all is well ... He cannot use your inf driver with a 980m (13D7) hardware id.

It's sad but I still need a modded driver, usually I get it from Laptop2Go forums.

Tell me what exactly you do in the INF file, what device you choose to force install the drivers?

Maybe there's a way to do it and works for you and me...
Sometime ago I was tring to keep the BIOS data from my original VBIOS and just replace the SUBVENDOR ID with a know ID from the Verde notebook program, which is in the official driver package..
Svet told me that this procedure was not possible...
However could do it, the driver installed just fine, no errors no problem, but the Optimus was not working, so it was useless.

If you only change the ID to match your GPU I can mod a VBIOS to you using the desired ID.
But if you have to change, add or exclude other parameters from INF file this will not work.

I tried some times but for my case I have 4 different models of 13D7 in MSI SYSTEM (1462).
I got tired in the 1st one... :p

Let's join forces, maybe we find a solution to Ivy Bridges and official drivers.

This modded driver has all devices, not only the GTX 980M or 970M...
I got black screen when I flashed a MSI BIOS that froze my PC right after loading screen...
The only way to use my PC again was to boot in DOS change again the VBIOS.
So the Windows forgot the 980M and let me to uninstall nVidia Drivers...

yeah Svet don't want to help if you want something extraordinary out from the bios other than unlocking the bios of msi notebooks. But when I asked prema, he said it is possible to change something in the bios so that any mxm gpu card can be plug and play just like clevo notebooks. The problem is Prema doesn't have any time to mod the bios for me..
In other forums found in another thread, I've read that prema have different vbioses for the maxwell card that can install drivers without modding the .inf . Just plug and play. But the problem with this one is that even if I asked him several times, he doesn't reply to me..
To your first question.. well later hehe

    Hey Gentlemen!

I do have Ivy bridge, and I do remember flashing both BIOS and vBIOS during upgrade from 680m to 970m (as it did not work otherwise, even with modded inf). I don't remember which ones though. Important is - that in July the upgrade has worked perfectly, and did work perfectly ever since. It is just something has changed in modern drivers?

Please help me make sense out of it.

    1. BIOS version is:
    GT70, MS-1762
    Core version - MS-1762
Version at the bottom of the screen - 4.6.5.3
I think that was unlocked one from Svet.

    2. vBIOS - Nvidia inspector says - 84.04.22.00.F1 (MODIFIED).

Is this prema v1? If yes - what are the risks in installing Prema version 2 vBIOS (can it just not boot lets say - or nothing that dramatic)?
And if it seems like my best bet to install Prema 2 vBIOS - is it the right one?:
https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/files/file/81-gtx970m_6gb_mxm_oc_pm/ - the one with the name "GTX970M_6GB_MXM_OC_PM_v2.rar"

    UPDATE
    Got a free evening :D
Flashed the OC_PM_v2.rar BIOS. That changed subsys to 110C1462 - and so I was able to use inf provided by Omega with 362.0 driver. Seem to work so far, card recognized.. still need to check ingame.

There is still this weired problem though, with PC freezing for 20 seconds after reboot - and boot log has 6-7 iterations of:
    BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\dxgkrnl.sys

    hm.

Well, I think - it is an issue common enough, based on other forums.. So yes, I'll see what other people do with it

Omega - can I ask how do u create those modded inf files?
What if you decide to retire and I need a new driver update? :D

LOL I wont retire as i LOVE this nb from the bottom of my heart :).. Well i'll let you know when the proper time comes ;)

BTW... I am not using official nvidia drivers. I am using the Nvidia Vulcan Drivers since the first day I saw it in Laptopvideo2go.

We both do have an ivy bridge based nb and yet I don't have that shutdown issue compared to yours. My nb is very responsive in on boot and shutdown. so fast using ssd for my primary hdd :)

Yeah - many people have this, judging from the forums. And it seems that there is no clear solution. But it may even not be related to the graphic card

I've have had an issue twice now where after hours of gaming my card will drop to a low gpu usuage, the frequency remain high on the clocks though. This makes my frames drop. Each time this has happened my battery has been drained too (31% or 91% left) even though I'm running off the PSU.
I also added RAM and 2 msata drives at the same time as my GPU. Could it be power drain? It's works ok again, if I leave it off 10 minutes. The temps are mostly below 70c underload so I don't think it's thermal throttle.
    Any ideas?

Is your mobile Proc Haswell? I guess the reason why is that your battery needs to be replaced. haswell proc for your gt model uses NOS system (battery + PSU). So i think that the sudden drop in your fps gpu performance is the battery.
