having only 3 usb ports on the right side is a joke though lol
also dp 1.2 and hdmi 1.4, clevos already go to 1.3 and 2.0

Three USB ports is OK. It would be nice to have one on the left and one in back, but I seldom use more than two at once and if you need more than three it would be better to use a powered USB hub and only one port on the laptop instead. If there is a compromise to be made, that's a better place to compromise than the CPU. Extra USB ports certainly can't make up for being saddled with BGA filth.

Just use a Type-C to Type-A connector and bam, another usb port (out of the way even). I have a wireless headset dongle I use in the rear because otherwise it'd have been in the way of my mouse hand.

@Diversion does the svet BIOS have the ability to disable Hyperthreading?
The BIOS option would allow us to use a 6700k / 7700k as a 6600k / 7600k and disable HT for reduced temps and higher OC on 90% of games that don't use more than 4 cores.Mr. Fox likes this. -

Is there a full fan profile short cut on this model, like Fn 1 on Clevos.

New images were added to the F5 Tornado product page including this one. I guess the guys over at Eurocom really like this particular model too

. Can i ask what is that?

That is a small dent in the external shell. The transistors themselves are protected and are located deeper in the chip, so as to prevent any external influence (humidity, sunlight, dust etc.)chezzzz, hmscott and ElCaptainX like this. -

Hi all, where to get the bios unlock mod?
I can not find for Eurocom Tornado F5.hmscott likes this. -

Here's an interesting review comparing the performance of 980M to 1070 mobile with the Eurocom Tornado F5 highlighted.

Well, maybe someone from the guru will share the BIOS for a Tornado F5?

It's also interesting that, with the exception of a few scenarios, the gaming performance is fairly close across all GTX 1070 notebook models. It's probably indicative that most games are not very CPU-bound yet. I wish this review had come out a week later, and included Battlefield 1, which is supposed to be extremely heavy on the CPU... -
1. Svet has worked hard on his custom BIOS tools, and he has explicitly asked us not to spread his files around. Pay the man for his work. It's not terribly expensive, and in fact probably under-priced.
2. The BIOS files are specific to each notebook, since it's a modification of a BIOS dump. If you try to flash your notebook using one of our modded BIOS, you will probably brick your notebook.
You'll have to talk to Svet over at the MSI forums directly to unlock your BIOS. -
Indeed, most games do not require a powerful CPU. For those that do, having a more competent CPU shows. The importance of having an excellent socketed desktop K series CPU in a notebook goes far beyond the gaming niche. Machines designed primarily for gaming can actually be pretty darned pathetic products other than the GPU. There is also the matter of principle... embracing BGA filth "just because" is a cancer that has adversely affected all of us, including those that have no idea they are getting screwed.Last edited: Oct 18, 2016Papusan likes this. -
Any work must be paid, I agree.

Well Clevo is the only manufacturer without BGA turd or the least of it, but what beats me about the pricing of the Tornado F5 specs is that the 980m is more expensive than the 1060. Is it the Vram that makes a 980 more expensive or what? I thought a 980 is roughly on par with a 1060 with the 1060 performing better.

just as a side note, one of the more difficult decisions to make insofar as purchasing this Eurocom Tornado F5, is the issue of purchasing it with installed RAM. since the 2 (top-side) primary RAM Slots are so very difficult to get to on this particular model (requires some disassembly of chassis), one must make the correct choice when purchasing. must take into consideration the brand of RAM, as well as the speed (2133 vs 2400), as well as the capacity. unfortunately, one is limited to only Micron brand RAM (no choice for Kingston HyperX etc) when ordering from Eurocom, and ....correct me if I am wrong, their RAM prices seem (unfortunately) quite expensive.

your point is well taken, however the reason the RAM situation (when ordering from Eurocom) becomes something of a dilemma for some of us who might plan on maximizing the RAM and using this as a workstation (instead of gaming primarily) is that those top-side slots would be the first slots I would prefer to be filled by Eurocom (so that one could purchase additional RAM and install to the bottom-side slots later on). this would allow those of us who prefer not to disassemble/reassemble the chassis (not to mention having to re-paste) the option to have max RAM. sadly, the only option for those of us with plans to use this as a workstation with max RAM, is to purchase the RAM that is offered from Eurocom (Micron), and for the prices / configs that they offer it (hopefully this might change, and perhaps they will maybe also offer HyperX possibly). would be unfortunate if these upper top-side RAM slots were somewhat un-usable for some of us, maybe that will change. hopefully the above might give you better insight / understanding into the dilemma of which I made mention, as a few of us need the max RAM to run highly intensive engineering / scientific applications. Nevertheless, thanks for your reply

? These are on the driver disk that comes with the laptop, but not on the website... Since the Tornado F5 is not equipped an optical drive, this means users have to load the disk on another computer, extract the drivers, and then transfer it back to the Tornado.

This is probably the cheapest laptop I can get without an OS preinstalled that's not a BGA Turdbook. I have another question for the Eurocom rep. I'm not trying to be rude, but why is the 980m priced higher than the 1060 preconfigured when the 1060 performs the same as a desktop 980? I would get a 980M with it if it was cheaper than the 1060 for how it has worse performance than it.

As a consumer though, you don't have to worry about it. Just don't buy the 980M, it's really not good value anymore.Paull likes this.
