v17.0.6 got worse for me. Massive lag spikes every so often when gaming.

Something I though I should post, with my Clevo P150EM, I believe it was version 17.0.0 of the Intel driver that everything worked except waking from sleep internet would stop after 5 min and waking from hibernate the card was not waking. This meant from sleep and hibernate required a restart. Version 17.0.3 fixed all issues and works great. Haven't tried 17.0.6 at all since the current one I have works just fine. As a note, I still haven't had an AC router to test with. Only single band g and dual band n routers. Hoping to get an ac router soon.
-
Do you guys install the Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software with driver or just the driver only for the wifi driver?
Edit: Going to try 17.0.6 again with U-APSD off.
Edit 2: Man that fixed a lot of my lag issues. Went from spiking to 500 ping to only rare spikes of 150. -

AT&T U-verse with Netgear R7000 AC 1900 router
The AT&T Motorola NVG589 setup by the AT&T serviceman was giving me between 54 and 144 Mbps on the 2.4ghz band. There's no 5ghz using the AT&T NVG589
I went into the NVG589 setup options and disabled the wireless and other settings while also changing other settings before attaching the R7000
https://forums.att.com/t5/Features-...ge-mode-or-as-close-as-you/m-p/3552057#M39255
With the R7000 installed I'm now getting link speeds of 780 Mbps~866.7 Mbps on 5ghz from a non line of sight location 10' from the router going through 1 sheet rock wall.
On 2.4ghz it's solid at 300 Mbps.
This is on a new MSI GS60 notebook with the stock AC-7260
My desktop and old MSI GT780DX notebook with an AC-7260 purchased from Gentech and installed by me are in a container being shipped by boat from Korea to the US so I'm not able to do any network file transfer tests yet.
BTW,I have driver 17.0.6.1 and Intel utilities installed w/U-APSD disabled -
The intel software is nice if you are in a SSID/AP crowded environment. Otherwise, just use windows, windows tends to reconnect little faster.
The intel software let you set up a profile to connect with which exact band/channel using the wlan mac address. i.e you have 2.4ghz and 5ghz with same ssid or multiple AP with same SSID, the card may connect on 2.4 due to signal strength. -

I'm kind of hesitant to install the latest drivers...
The previous one caused all kinds of drop outs to my internet connection... -
-

I give them all a shot for a few days then either go back or stay with it. -
New driver 17.1.0.19 drivers out on Station-drivers. Seems to add a new setting called Throughput Booster, which defaults to disabled.
-
The Thought Booster is very weird, i'd love to get some more info on it. It bumped my rating up to 300Mbps for 1 minutes before dropping down to 107Mbps. The weird thing is my router only pumps out 150Mbps 1x1 and i normally get 114Mbps. i hope more details come out over time.
-
It doesn't seem to affect online gaming much for me. Ping was the usual. Signal quality seems to be sitting at the usual of 144Mbps. I guess I'll keep it on for now.

Any feedback on the latest official driver from intel??
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
All I can state is the fact that, my first laptop was an HP ENVY X360 which had this limited connectivity issue constantly (AC7260 card), then returned and bought an ASUS laptop (AC7260 card), and same issues!!!!
I have an ASUS dual band router, and my tablets work fine, never had an issue, even with my other older laptop (before the MOBO failed), it is not my router that has an issue.
I recently updated to the latest drivers via Intel website, since for some reason the newest driver was not automatically installed via window 8.1 or ASUS utility update center.
Had hopes..... SAME issues!
I even tried configuring the laptop to strictly use either 2.4GHZ & 5GHZ bands, tweaked driver settings (disable U-APSD , Power wake, channel)... still with same results!
No good driver solution from intel, it will still go to "Limited Connectivity" intermittenly, then most of the times it will automatically fix itself. Only once did I have to reboot the laptop.
May try down the list of older drivers to see if there is a more compatible on by chance as others have had luck with (will cross fingers), I could always swap out the WIFI card, but WHY should we / I do that on a new laptop??????
Seriously......
Any good successfull solutions, tips and tricks, findings, please post! -

Is it possible to tweak settings to get faster internet than what I am getting? I left everything default in device manager settings.

If you are getting 120mbps or close to that while connected over the Ethernet and only 46mbps over Wi-Fi than we're not evem close to 802.11ac here.
46mbps is easily achievable on 802.11n so additional questions:
1. How far from the router are you?
2. What is the speed when you are 6 feet from the router?
3. What is the connection speed reported by your OS? -
I am getting 90 D/15 U mbps when 6 feet away from the router. My initial tests were done when I am sitting downstairs with router upstairs directly above.
My wired computers always show 126-130 mbps speeds.
What is OS connection speed? Is it something I get from command prompt?
P -
Assuming it's Windows, it's the speed Networking Center (or whatever it's called) shows.
-
try reformat your pc then test again. Maybe some programs and settings are messing up your connectivity.
Never had a limited connectivity issue with 7260 on any of the drivers released. -
So I bought my parents a new N300 router to replace their 8 year old G router. At first I was running the router at 40MHz wide channel and getting the wired maximum of 57 down but that was never achievable again after the first 5 minutes of setting up the router and the 40MHz wide was causing issues with other devices in the house so I set it back to run the normal 20MHz wide channel. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why the 2 Dell wifi card devices in my parent's house were getting 25 down and my laptop anywhere from 14-18 down. I was running 17.0.3 but finally decided to install the latest driver. I assumed nothing was wrong since in my apartment I run 5GHz only and always get the max wired bandwidth speed off of wireless with no ping spikes when pinging my router. 2.4 is always lower for me but the wifi congestion is insane at my apartment which is why I don't even turn on the 2.4 wireless radio.
After reading what people were doing to fix for 17.0.6, I also disabled U-APSD. Immediately greatly improved results. I'm seeing 50-55 down (up from 14-18) with a lot less lag spikes when pinging the router. Even internet usage seems to flow a lot better when surfing. I'm not sure how this will fair on my 5GHz network when I head back to my apartment. Hopefully still as crisp as before. This just leaves me wondering if there is something I can tweak on my parent's wifi cards to get them getting more than 25 down on the new router I setup for them or if that is just a hardware limitation of their wireless cards. -

Just updated to Intel wireless-AC 7260 17.1 drivers.
One thing this driver now provides is Miracast/WiDi Ad-Hoc access to a monitor/TV when using Windows 8.1 update 2 and a Netgear PTV3000 adapter.
Prior to this driver update, I had problems using WiDi/Miracast on an Intel NUC i5-4250U box, such that it'd remain in a connecting state without actually displaying the virtual screen.
Prior to this update, I also deleted VirtualBox as it conflicted at the time with a Miracast Virtual adapter, I may reinstall VirtualBox and see if I can get all services working without conflict now.
Just a bit of info in case someone else has been down this path less traveled. -
anyone else have issues with the newest 17.1 drivers? Installed fine on win 8.1 and gave an improved performance in terms of measured speed using the wi-fi shortcut so all looked good. Put the laptop to sleep and when I went to wake it up, win 8.1 had disabled the card citing a driver issue -- only option to re-connect was to roll back the driver.
Anyone with some insight or suggestion as to a fix? -
The new Asus X99 motherboard appears to have a 3x3 ac wireless card built in, could this be the first 3x3 1750AC mini PCI-e (or m.2) card on the market?

thoughts? -
Definitely not the first because cards like that were used before in routers. The question is if the card is of a standard size because the ones I've seen before were not only the connector was.
I couldn't find any more photos apart from the one you provided so I guess we'll have to wait and see. -
Thanks -
Having the same issue right now. Which driver version did you rollback to?
Thanks
17.0.5.8 is stable for me if not as fast as the newer 17.1 but I've still not been able to get the 17.1 driver to stick within win8.1 properly -
Is there any upcoming revisions to this card or even a new model? i keep hearing about driver issues.

WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
I tried 17.1.0.19 for a few days but due to disconnect and no network found issues I've gone back to 17.0.6.1
-
I'm on 17.1.0.19 and it's not only perfectly stable (I've had to transfer some 700GB of data between NASes and didn't have a cable long enough to do it over Ethernet) but also slightly faster than a previous driver.
So as always with this card your millage will vary. -
I don't know how soon it will be available though. -
It's not a new card adding 5 at the end is Intel's version of revision - it was the same with 6200 and 6205 and 6230 and 6235.
-
let us know if you hear its for sale -

Been using Intel wireless-AC 7260 17.1 in my circa 2010 Alienware M11xR1 without any problems.
I'm only using 5GHz 40MHz (802.11n) at approx ~120Mbits* (raw bandwidth) via an ASUS EA-N66 Access Point.
I did a few tests using both ftp and iPerf from my NAS and have the impression the link is now approx 10Mbits slower than what I was getting with 17.0.5.
It is still stable for me, so I'll let it slide and see what the next update presents.
* PCIe card in my M11xR1 is connected to a shared USB2.0, thus the low peak bandwidth throughput on this device. -

Driver 17.0.6 is working without the issues I experienced with 17.1.0 using an AC-7260 with a Netgear R7000 connected to an AT&T U-verse Motorola NVG589 modem.
Wireless is turned off in the NVG589 settings.
To avoid IP address conflicts the R7000 and connected wireless devices are using 10.0.0.x addresses instead of 192.168.0.x
The issues mostly occur when coming out of sleep where there would be no connection and no available SSIDs until after a reboot. Then all SSIDs in range appear again and I'm able to connect to my 5ghz and 2.4ghz SSIDs that are WPA2 AES
My 5ghz band connection speed on Channel 161 is 866.7 Mbps while the 2.4ghz band is a steady 300 Mbps on ch 7
None of the previous driver versions released since I got my 1st AC-7260 when they 1st became available have caused issues like I got with 17.1.0
I'll experiment further when time is available.DrGoodvibes likes this. -
If the box goes to sleep all SSID AND the WiFi Adapter in Network Connections disappear.
After a reboot, it's all back and operational.
I noted a huge drop in ftp download speed on 17.1.0.19 using 5GHz 40MHz 802.11n from a NAS on the LAN.
Intel 17.1.0.19
iPerf: 210Mbits
ftp download: 94Mbits/sec
Intel 17.0.6.1
iPerf: 211Mbits
ftp download: 137Mbits/sec
Using Win8.1 Update2 and Intel 17.0.6.1, I still have Miracast/WiDi screen mirroring support.
Oddly, on my olde Alienware M11xR1 Win7Pro 64bit (which I would've expected problems) using Intel wireless 7260ac driver 7.1.0.19 I've not noted any problems other than a drop of approx 10Mbits of real ftp download speed from a NAS on the LAN. The WiFi adapter remains accessible after the notebook has been in 'sleep' mode.
So, given Intel 17.1.0.19 gives me no benefits at this time, I'm reinstalling Intel 17.0.6.1 which provides a stable and usable environment for me on my two 7260ac cards.
Update - Not sure if it's good form including this link, but this guy has done quite a good I/O comparison between the latest Intel Wireless-AC 7260 drivers.

@Salue
Are you pairing the AC-7260 with a quality AC router and using the 5ghz band?
Is your router set to WPA2 AES?
Have you tried disabling U-APSD in the AC_7260 Advanced settings?
Is "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" unchecked in the AC-7260 Power Management?
In QoS Setup in the router settings is Enable WMM on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz enabled?longbodie likes this. -
I installed my new AC 7260 in my Lenovo T500. I replaced a 6300 with it. I only have 2.4Ghz in my house. My first impressions with trying it out and using inSSIDer is that it isn't as strong as the 6300. The three 2.4Ghz networks in my house are very slightly weaker, and I can no longer see the neighbors' wireless networks. I'll have access to my new AC router only at the start of October, so hopefully the 5Ghz band with the 7260 is better than the 6300. But the 6300 is very weak in that anyway.
