I had a very smooth experience both downloading the driver and the driver installation.

Intel Bluetooth drivers are downloaded and installed separately.

    EDIT:
Bluetooth driver 17.1.1501.01 now OFFICIAL Intel and WHQL

Link speed is mostly at 780Mbps

Download speed and home network file transfers about the same as with 17.15.0.5

Clicking the links for the actual DL's I am getting a lot of 404 error's.

Edit; it took some persistence but eventually the links on the Intel page paid off.

For me, The 18. driver from station drivers did not work well. It seemed to be snappier at first when browsing on the internet. But then i started gaming. And i experienced lag spikes serveral time during a game. So i rolled back to the newest release from intel. 17.16 and had no problems anymore. No lag spikes and no problems browsing. 780 mbs stable in windows.

My labtop is a clevo w230st if any interrest.
My router is a Apple airport extreme (the new one running 802.11AC)

I've just upgraded the card on my Thinkpad E545 to the 7260AC - it's up and running and connected to my AC router on the 5ghz band. However the Windows wireless utility is only reporting a connection of 150Mbps - which is roughly the speed one would get on Single Band 802.11N. The previous card was 2x2, as is this - both antennas are connected securely. Does anyone have any ideas?

How far are you from the router and how many obstacles? Also since the upper channels of 5GHz use 10x the power you may want to try them.

Going through walls and floors especially floors will degrade connection strength.

Distance is also hard on connections.

In the AC-7260 card's properties click on the advanced tab.

    Then look for U-APSD support

    Disable it.

Also under Power Management uncheck the "turn off to save power" box.

In the Router's setup settings select WPA2 AES for Security Encryption

    Notebook newest firmware and bios?

    Router newest firmware?

All AC routers don't have same performance doing different tasks

at varying distances performance will depend on which router.

Thanks - sort of managed to get it working after installing the latest drivers, firmware and Windows updates. I'm now connected to my router at 433mbps, which is the max speed on 5ghz supported by my router. What I'm trying to work out is how to take advantage of the 'concurrent dual band' functionality of my router, so that I can bump the speed up to the advertised 750mbps. Do I need to broadcast the same SSID for both bands in order to achieve the combined speed?

You can't. That's how router manufacturers deceive customers - yes the router can achieve 750mbps: some clients will be connected at 300mbps to 2.4GHz band and others at 450mbps at 5GHz band. But the name seems to suggest that the combined speed would be 750mbps - yes combined for a router, but not for a client.
You can't use both bands with the same computer at the same time, sorry.

The advertized speed is the speed of the 3.4ghz band + the 5ghz band.

Simultaneous dual band offer twice the bandwidth as a single band router on 2 separate networks operating at the same time for devices connected to them. Each device cannot get faster link speed than the band's rated speed of the router.

Example:An AC1200 router can provide up to a theoretical 300 Mbps on the 2.4GHz, and 867Mbps on 5GHz for devices connected to the band. You cannot get the speed of both bands added together.

Read reviews of your router to find out it's quirks if any.

No it can't. When routers are simultaneous dual band that means they have two separate radios (and two sets of antennas) - one is working on 2.4GHz band and the other on 5GHz. Wireless cards have one radio that can work either on one or the other frequency.
Unless someone launches a Wi-Fi card with two radios (and two sets of antennas) and software to combine it all, it's impossible.

I sort of suspected as much - I just thought I'd ask because 433Mbps is not much more than the max theoretical speed you'd get with 802.11N. I suppose that's because I bought the cheapest 802.11ac router I could find - I just assumed that the ac standard meant that I'd get the maximum speed; obviously not.

Even with the AC-3200 I have I can only max out at 866 on 5GHz. While it supposedly will do the 1300 per AC channel I think you need a 3x3 and then be right on top of it. At 35' away I get 520mbps or better with the 2x2 on the 7260.

Been using the Intel 7260 in my Alienware M11xR1 for almost a year now and it's been performing well. Have an ASUS RT-AC66U (tomato fw) router (802.11ac 5GHz 80MHz channel bonding) and the M11xR1 sees a connection speed of 780-866Mbits most the time. I have seen downloads of ~400Mbits/sec and that's amazing as the PCIe adapter is running off an internal USB 2.0. Normally get around 200-300Mbits/sec.

Currently running the 17.16.0.4 WiFi driver.

only things really are the stuff on the wiki page.....
    https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Intel

and that's saying they'll both be 3x3 but will be NGFF only, in other words m.2 socket, and thus useless to a number of us with mini PCIe sockets

Hi guys. Frustrated AC-7265 user here. Even after reading through most of the recent posts in this thread, I can't get my card to stop stuttering on outbound Bluetooth audio streaming.

This is on a brand new Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga. I did everything I came across here and elsewhere:

    - updated the card drivers to 17.16.0.4
    - activated WMM in Ad-Hoc QoS Mode
    - deactivated Throughput Booster
    - set Roaming Aggressiveness to Highest
    - deactivated U-APSD
    - deactivated "Allow Computer to turn off device" in Power Management
    - set Power Saving Mode to Maximum Performance in Power Options > Wireless Adapter Settings for the active power plan

...and yet, still, audio keeps stuttering when I'm streaming on Bluetooth to a BT receiver. It seems to be the card's Bluetooth adapter's fault because it even happens when I'm playing a local MP3 file from the laptop's built-in SSD.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to put this, please let me know if it is. Just don't know what else to do at this point - even my near-decade old Android phone can stream audio better than this sorry piece of Intel hardware.

Thank you for any and all advice you may have to offer.

Have you tried a different receiver or pair of BT headphones to confirm the card is the issue?

What distance and how many walls are between the notebook and receiver?

I don't have a second receiver - the one I'm using works flawlessly with other devices though. Used regularly with various Android phones, iPhones, tablets and iPads.

Edit - The laptop is about 10 meters (30 ft) away, no walls, but the problem exists even when I place it directly next to the receiver.

I just turned it off to test, and so far it does seem to have a positive effect! It's no longer choppy now. When I switch Wifi back on, it starts to stutter again after a few seconds.

I hope you only meant this as a test to narrow it down... I stream via Wifi more than I play local MP3s.

Turning wifi off confirmed that your wifi interferes with the bt , it's on the same band as the wifi. 2.4ghz (assuming).

Air waves are such a fickle thing.

my old ZTE phone can't beam mp3's to my sound bar more than 10 feet away (3m). So from that point of view 10 meters is stretching it a lot.

Try connecting your wifi on the 5ghz band and the bt will stay on the 2.4ghz that should help.

^ It looks like you were spot on. I switched the router to 5GHz and so far no issues with Wifi streaming to BT.

After a month of frustration, this is a huge relief! Thank you so much.

Purely out of interest, would you say this is a driver issue that may possibly be fixed by Intel in a future update? One should think so, because simultaneous Wifi/BT on all other phones and tablets I've tried always worked without a problem on the 2.4GHz band. And from what I gather after scouring half the internet about this problem, Intel seems oblivious to the issue - but I could be wrong.

Intel had the same problem with 6230and never fixed it. Actually they claimed that they can't reproduce it which... come on o_O. So don't count on Intel

i'm glad this fixed it for you.

No it's not a driver issue nor a hardware issue per say. it's a concept issue from the ground up. BT has had hits and misses because of that.

Try to keep all your devices on 5ghz as that will help with interferences not jsut for this card but other devices.

I had to revert back to 17.1.1501 as this new version would not allow me, in software, to turn the BT off with the icon. I tried just installing the older version to no avail, it still would not work. I had to actually use a restore point.

    Wow!

When I installed this my screen resolution changed to basic with huge desktop icons and device manager had yellow mark for display adapter.

After reinstalling the NVIDIA 352.12 driver all is well.

No problems observed with the 17.1.1512.771 BT but rolled back to 17.1.1501.512 anyway.

I gave v18.0.0.11 a shot in mid April when I posted the driver but removed it in favor of the Official Intel 17.16.0.1 that I'm still using.

I've asked Station-Drivers to post the source of their drivers several times but I guess they don't wish to reveal them.

WHQL usually means it's from a Microsoft partner that got the driver qualified.

Some other drivers posted on Station Drivers that weren't listed as WHQL have mostly been awful.

    These include wireless,graphics and Bluetooth.

Does this card perform better N speeds than previous cards? Just curious if i will see a gain using this prior to getting my AC router. Currently use 6300 Ultimate 3X3 AGN Intel card.

i'd stick with your 3x3 card, the 7260 has had problems with 2.4 GHz, it's better in 5 GHz with AC.

So, keep the 3x3 in there till I get my AC router?

Yes, the Intel 6300 is still a really good card. ac routers are crashing down in price and there's 'wave 2 ac' just coming around the corner as well. when you do upgrade your card, aim for ac 7265, it's a less power hungry revision of the ac 7260 but only comes as a m.2 card, not pci-e.

With a good quality 1750/1900 AC router the 6300 can get a theoretical link speed of 450Mbps on the 5ghz band.

That's more than an Intel AC-3260 can get on 5ghz.

Because your notebook has a mini pcie slot for the wireless card your options are very limited.

The Intel AC-7265NGW and Killer N1525 won't work in your notebook since they are M.2 form factor and not mini pcie. Both are better wireless cards than the AC-7260 especially the Killer N1525.

With the upcoming Intel Skylake platform there will be new Intel M.2 type AC/AD wireless cards, possibly 3x3,but you would need a new notebook for that.

I use the discontinued Intel AC-7260HMW in an older Sandy Bridge MSI GT780DX and in a desktop Intel adapter on 5ghz paired with a Netgear R7000 AC router without issues.
