You can get the quote number from the Purchase ID by talking to various CSRs. The quote number is what I needed.

Well, for everyone's info... I probably won't keep mine more than a week or so. If I really really like it, I will keep it.
But I'm doubting I will $1000 dollars like it, mainly because I don't need it.
If this ends up happening, I'll be willing to pass on the savings to an NBR member, assuming they pay whatever it costs for me to ship to them in addition to the cost of the laptop.

Well, if you look back through the topic, I make it clear that I don't need it and shouldn't really buy it right now.
I ended up pulling the trigger only because I knew I would have no problem re-selling it if it came down to that.

Z, if I sell, you'll be the first to know. My EDD is 6/4, I'll probably play with it for a week or two before making a final decision.
    My config:
    T8100, 2GB, 250GB 7200RPM, SLI 9800GTs, smoke gray, 1 year warranty + 1 year lo jack.
    Paid 1096 shipped.

As for the jumping through hoops I did - it's mainly the fun of the chase, the whole time I was kind of hoping they'd just cancel the order, make the hard decision for me.
If when I get it it turns out to be a really beautiful laptop, then I'll be having an X9000, 2x250GB 7200RPM drives, an Intel 5300, and 2x2GB of RAM coming my way soon as well. I don't have my hopes up though, I was a much bigger fan of Dell's previous gen stuff (XPS M1710) as far as cosmetic quality and looks. We'll see where it takes me.

If you check dell right now, there is a delay of 8 days if you choose that hard drive. I assume you got lucky.
I'm probably anything but lucky, the iphone I ordered on the 11th still isn't here...
I ordered the XPS Thu, May 14, 2009 at 9:31 PM. Suppose your guess is as good as mine.
On a happy note, Dell shipped me a 64 bit Vista disc, next day. I got that today.

And now that i'm thinking about that. If you need a 64 bit disc. Just send a message to this guy, and he'll hook you up no questions asked, quick.

Call, tell them you got an "Acknowledgment of Order" email but it doesn't show up under your recent orders. Someone will eventually give you a quote number, and from there, you can talk to someone who will re-create the quote as a new order. Just be sure to tell them you can't re-order because you used a promotional link that doesn't work for you anymore.

Anybody know the details of the TV tuner they are offering now? Is it just a USB (Hauppage-style) or is it a "built-in"?

So I have been calling dell each day now and finally was able to get help today. The person helping me said it was a marketing error and that the price was too low, so he said he had to cancel my order.

    O well.

IT'S NOT DEAD YET!!!!!!! FOLLOW THIS LINK!!!

    http://configure.us.dell.com/dellst...=en&s=dhs&cs=19&kc=productdetails~xpsnb_m1730

Although this is the T8100 and SLI 8700s To get the exact configuration in my sig is now 1834 (including the wireless N card) So it is about $500 more than what mine invoiced out to. Still, if you wanted the basic one and were gonna upgrade it, it could still be done. Or buy some basic ones and put 'em up for sale.

I'm kinda torn between an X9000, X7800, and just keeping my T9300. Since this supports overclocking I really wanna get an Extreme cpu. But the X9000 is the cost of a new 360 elite, and the X7800 price is right but its 65nm, really don't wanna move backwards.

I am still keeping my fingers crossed. Ordered Monday using quote number I had in an email...did it without talking to CSR. They seem to be the problem here. I am going the ninja route and am not calling Dell. Hopefully I can fly under the radar! Got a confiramation email same day. Order status on Dell lists everything correctly and "In Production". EDD is 6/4.

Does anyone have an idea as to future XPS 17" model motherboards being able to fit into the 1730? That would make this deal outrageous! THey seemed to have really focused in on upgradability, I wonder if it could be upgraded to montevina at some point?

I highly doubt it. The m1730 is so old already that Dell's replacement, as well as the new Alienware's, will probably be considerably redesigned from the current XPS. But, we shall see...

    @cslawrence

I also got an order confirmation in my email. It's in production, BUT there is nothing under billing and ship to. Both says N/A. Is that the same with yours?

Edit: I called a 2nd time and apparently the order did go through. Keep in mind I ordered the computer via phone so maybe that makes it more official than just making an online purchase.

No, my order confirmation email was just fine. Had billing and shipping info correct.

Gosh I'm getting excited. Mind you, I'm upgrading from an Inspiron 8200...so this is a big leap up for me. Swap in a T9300, some new ram, and I will be ready to go.

Does anyone have info on the Hauppage tv tuner? Is it internal? Where can I get it from?
