It's for my hard drives, I've just gotten accustomed to being able to RAID external devices easily.
-
there is no love lost between dell m1730 business division and AW consumer division.
-
i think that would be cool to change just one of the wings
that would be pretty sweet
i think that red/white or red/grey would be pretty awesome -
-
yeah i know but i want to see someone doing it first so i can what it will look like
-
i guess the huge markup before the liquidation offsets any potential future losses. cleaning out inventory will save dell money as well. great time for people who are able to play games this summer
-
No there won't be a performance upgrade unless you use the capacity. -
i dont think that the xps supports 8gb

Cin -

I am probably gona order one or two as well, but can anybody tell me what the difference is for Sound Blaster HD Audigy Software Edition from the ExpressCard Sound Blaster Audigy X-Fi Extreme? Is there a hardware PCB of Sound Blaster Audigy gonna be built into the system? If so, it's not a bad price to add $25 for that.
-
-
im probably not going to get this only cause i dont have the money right now but do you think waiting until july there'll be better deals than this?
I'm just thinkingj the santa rosa is a lil outdated and the montevina plus is coming out and 9800s arent even top of the line cards right now so its just my opinion to wait till better models come out
my 2 cents -
So did we decide that with a BIOS flash this laptop can hold up to 8gb of 800mhz ddr2 ram?
-
-
For some reason I was thinking santa rosa was 800mhz while montevina was 1066mhz. But that isn't an issue to me, I was mainly concerned that it will hold up to 8gb for future proofing. Thanks for your response.
-
Santa Rosa:
667MHz memory
800MHz FSB
Montevina:
800MHz DDR2 or 1066MHz DDR3
1066MHz FSB -

if u really want the newest laptops just wait cuz it will appear new laptops every time and if u think like this u will never buy one -
Yeah, the thing that really sold this on me is that I know in one year I could break it down and still sell the 9800GTs, the screen, the CPU, and so on for over what I paid.
-
u mean the 9800 GT
yeah its a great deal ....
IMO dell is doing this deal cuz i think they are going to release a new xps1730 and it will montevina and quad core -
Cool, mine says "Shipped" now
-
As in the system is a SLI configuration
Meaning there are two 9800GT s
And it's already been confirmed that this is a liquidation to make room for the Alienware " All Powerful," coming out in 15 days or so. Credit to MR. Moo on that find. -
oh sorry about it i dint see that the ''s'' was low caps
ik that they are making room for the AW but i think that they might make a new xps too -
The last post i wrote i wasn't saying that this is a bad laptop at all, on the contrary i would probably buy this right now if i had the money but what i was asking was if this was worth it buying now or waiting for a newer model later.
Also is it easy to:
remove the cpu and sell it on like ebay or something? I know i probably wont make profit or come even from it but do you think it would be easy to sell? Is it easy to replace as well? If i were to buy this i think i would get it with the 2.1 ghz and upgrade to 2.4 myself and get the ram up to 4 gig, the problem is i dont know much about upgrading laptops -
hey man its not that hard to do it and the ram is the easiest one
there are tons of videos and tutorials explaining how to do it -
Another thing. As long as there's a CD-key for Windows Home Premium X32 for this M1730, this key is still gonna be ok if we have a Home Premium X64, right? I may pick up a copy of the Home Premium x64 but I would like to keep the key in the package so I can still use the keys at the bottom of the laptop.
-
On to your question, you can use the OEM key on the bottom to install either 32 bit or 64 bit Home Premium, so long as you are using an OEM disc. You cannot buy a retail copy of Home Premium like you're saying and install with that disc, it will not accept the OEM key. Microsoft allows you to buy just a DVD from them for 10-20 dollars, and there's always other ways to get the media, like borrowing from a friend. -
