that is not as good as this

    Outpost.com - 2x1GB DDR2 800MHz Desktop Computer Memory $38 after rebate
    (repost)

A pair of OCZ 1GB DDR2 800MHz Computer Memory on sale for $68 with free shipping, and a $30 manufacturer's mail-in rebate is available. This is one of the best deals we've ever seen on a pair of good quality 1GB 800MHz memory. Manufacturer's mail-in rebates are much less risky than Fry's rebates.

Yeah, that's 800mhz though, the Corsairs are 667.

I still can't find a 2x1gb for below 60, I wonder how long before we see a price like that for that sort of stick.

The deal of Corsair memory posted by sgntx is for notebooks...

The one you have posted is for desktops....

Notebook memory is costlier (because of the smaller size) than their desktop counterparts......

I think this is a good thread to give feedback about ram purchased if you have issues good or bad with the company or the product.

I had a recent issue with Gskill not working on my c90, but I was refunded almost in full for it not being compatible thanks to Denny @ Gskill so I want to put some positive rep up for them.

Its always good to know what the customer service is like when buying from a company. I had the ram for several months and voided the warranty on it when I had to remove the heat spreader to install it. I had to fight abit to get my way but can say all worked out well in the end.

I have a dell 1330 want to upgrade to 4gb ram is the kingston memory the best to buy for this notebook, I live in canada and it seems that the cheapest that I can get a 4gb is around 280.00 to 300.00 which seems really expensive compared to what is available in the us

I would just buy two 2GB sticks, instead of a 4GB kit.

    http://shop1.outpost.com/product/5175606

Get 2x2GB Crucial, with rebate, and it should be around $130 with shipping.

I got 2x2gb dual channel OCZ memory, but the HP 8510p only sees 3gb with both 2gb sodimms inserted.

So I pulled 1 out one 2gb and put the 1gb it came with back in.

    It still sees 3gb.

The o.s. is windows xp. I am assuming this the max xp pro can see?

Yes, XP only sees 3 Gb of ram. You Need Vista (x64 if I`m not mistaken) to see 4 gb of memory.

EDIT Ignore my previous post, those are desktop memories :(

yep..just to reiterate...xp and x86 (32 bit) vista only recognizes a max of 3gb of ram...x64 (64 bit) utlizes up to 4gb ram

The Vostro 1500 takes DDR2 200-pin So-dimm so yes that stick of memory should work. 240 pin DDR2 memory is for desktop computers.

Hi I just have this one question to ask that I don't seem to be able to get a single answer about. I have Vista Ultimate 32 bit with the laptop listed in my signature. I currently have 2.5 gb of ram, but if I get a single 1gb stick and change out my 512mb stick to get a total of 3gb of ram, would that not be as good as if I just get another 2gb stick that is the same specs as the one I currently have in my laptop since I my laptop is dual channel? If there is a difference, would the difference be noticeable? I doubt I would ever get the 64 bit version on this laptop, so I don't really want to shell out the extra money to get a 2gb of ram if there's really not that big of a difference.

Edit: I forgot to mention, I normally use my laptop for casual gaming, running engineering applications like Matlab and Solidworks 2007, and do some graphic work on photoshop CS3. So would I see much increase in performance from my laptop by increasing my ram from 2.5 to 3?

You will NOT notice a difference running those applications. You MIGHT notice a difference if you run various benchmarks but negligible. Sort of like the difference between driving at 65mph vs. 67mph.

just want to ask, i have a toshiba Satellite A200-1M4, currently it has 1 gig(2x512mb,planning to sell these.. ) is it possible to put 1 stick 2gb on it? or it would be better to put 2*1gig memory. 2gig is the maximum for this laptop :( , If it is possible what brand do you suggest? im thinking of getting the Corsair 1GB PC5400 667MHz 200-Pin SODIMM DDR2 RAM (VS1GSDS667D2). Thanks.

I'm not an expert on rams, but I think if you have two slots and the maximum is two gigs, you should go for two sticks of 1gig each. If your laptop is dual core, it justifies it even more. Plus I believe that 2x1gig is less expensive than 1x2gig.

buy.com had a special yesterday for 1 x 2GB crucial 667MHz DDR2 for $60 with free shipping. Even though I'm running 32bit windows, I bought 4GB for just $120. I can always utilize the full 4GB when I upgrade to 64bit later. Too bad it expired already.

I have that ram, bought about two months ago and it was around $99 after tax. I just bought a Corsair 1gb ram for $19, since I'm running 32 bit and doubt I'd ever upgrade to 64bit, I don't see a need for four gigs of ram total

If Norton or McAfee is installed, i'd replace them with a lighter anti-virus. It's incredible how slow a computer is if you have Norton installed.

If you just do everyday things with vista such as word processing and e-mail and some gaming, 2gb would be fine. I find that with 3gb of ram, programs such as matlab, solidworks, and photoshop runs a little smoother than when I had 2gb of ram
