Has anyone come across a better price for DDR 333 PC2700 SO-DIMM sticks? The cheapest I can find is $60 shipped, and that's the same model that's in the intro post.

So, yeah, has anyone found cheaper?

Appreciate your information on the 5300 vs. the 5400. I've asked elsewhere and usually have not received an intelligible answer.

Maybe the first post should be updated again? Its been over 3 months since the last update, and RAM prices have fallen by about half since that time.

Its 2x1GB, Dell only ships dual channel memory, I think, unless you go with 512MB RAM.

Might be a repost, but Fry's a 4GB set of PQI PC5300 sticks for $65 after a $20 MIR. They also have a 4GB set of OCZ sticks for $60 after a $30 MIR.

    Link to the PQI

The deal is back on! Definitely get the OCZ RAM as the brand's better and it's cheaper.

Or maybe not. It seems like DDR2-SODIMM prices have been crashing in 2007. Since the next generation of Intel chipsets will be DDR3, maybe you could wait until it bottoms out.

PC(2)-5300 and PC(2)5400 are techincally the same thing(DDR2-667) so go for the cheaper one.

Newegg's got a 2GB stick of A-Data for $25 after a $15MIR. If you can find another person for a second rebate you could potentially get 4GB for $50 (free shipping)

Sweet deal! I have the Intel T5250 1.5.... will 4GBs actually be better than 3GB? I read somewhere that our systems will only use 3 anyways, is that true?

My laptop has 1GB (512x2) currently. I just ordered a 2GB stick.... would it work out if I just pull one of the 512 and replace with the 2GB? or do I need to buy 2GB more to make it 4GBs? Thanks for the answers

I read that if I run 2.5GB (2GB + 512) means I won't be in dual channel mode anymore. Is that going to make it slower than just running the 2GB stick alone? What does dual channel mode mean?

I wouldnt worry about Dual Channel. More ram is usually better in most programs.

Take a look at the Dual Channel Ram Guide

Running a 2GB would put you in single-channel mode anyway, so it doesn't really matter. Basically, as the name suggests, dual-channel means you get two data channels for increased bandwidth over a single channel.

This Wikipedia article may be of help to you for a quick summary.

Considering how cheap the 2GB memory is right now ($23.99 after rebate), should I just keep what I have (2GB+512) or get 1 more 2GB and make it 4GB? I mean would I see an improvement in what I do or is it just wasted.

    My laptop is has

Intel T5250 1.5 with vista home premium.
I don't use it to play games much but I do use photoshop a lot along with other programs running at the same time.
