Nope. Even with a 64bit OS, you will not see the full 4GB becuase of chipset limitation(hardware issue).

However, 3GB is plenty for most people.

Just saw this on Buy.com
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=204839762
OCZ 2GB (667mhz, lifetime warranty) stick for $29.99 after $16 Rebate and Free Shipping (could save an additional $10 if you are a first time Google Checkout user) -
So in the end I think I can get 4GB RAM for < $100, Will it still be worth spending the extra <$50 to go from 2x1 to 2x2GB?

Hell. Ram is so cheap it's like taking candy from a baby.. Yum. Got my set for $68 on Frys.com (Outpost). -
How do I know what kind of ram I need to put in my laptop.
I know its an odd question. my when it comes to things like this.. I am lost. -
-
If any of you find a good deal on a 2x2GB (DDR2 667) kit, would you please announce it here?
-
-
I am in US until 25th Feb.
Can you point me to a good kit?
P.S. Does anyone by any chance know the RAM's manufacturer in a Lenovo R61i ? I would like tu get the kit from the same manufacturer if possible. -
You are looking for a 4GB kit right?
Will you be buying it online or picking it up from a store?
Manufacters are not important when buying laptop memory so just look for the cheapest price on ram that comes with a lifetime warranty. -
I bought a pair of PC-6300 PQI's from Newegg last night, in case I decide to upgrade my CPU later to a 800MHz one. I got them for 82 $ shipped in MI.
-
I am looking to get some RAM for a T61, 2GBs. I have no experience buying RAM so any advice or deals would be much appreciated.
-
which one of these do I need... my laptop says it came with
2.0GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM, 2 DIMM for Dell Latitude Notebooks
I want to double that... -
@Both of you: Laptops ONLY have two RAM slots, so if you want more than 2GB of RAM for instance...you buy one or two single 2GB sticks to make either 3 or 4 GB. -
so i actually have 2 slots filled already? i thought I had a 2gb chip in there and just needed to buy another 2gb chip.
-
so this would be the deal for me:

http://shop4.outpost.com/product/5442679
2GB Stick of DDR2 PC5300 Laptop ram... $19.99 after $24.00 rebate. Shipping is about 6 dollars. -
you can only use the $10 google checkout discount once so probably doesn't help most people. Unfortunately most buy.com coupons are for new customers only. They don't seem to value return customers.
-
what about this? $129 for 4gb?
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Latitude D830&pl=dell&cat=ram -
i went with the deal on Newegg for $84... seems to be a great deal.
Can't wait to se ehow the dell laptop does with 4 gb. -
Me too. ETA monday 4.02.2008. :d
-
So... I think the Asus F8SV can only take 667 Ram, can someone confirm this.
This is the notebook
http://www.pcvonline.com/productDetails.aspx?id=6410
This is the Ram I intend to get (OCZ is good right?)
http://www.pcvonline.com/productDetails.aspx?id=5915
The rebate ends in 4 days, so a reply as soon as possible would be great! -
Any DDR2-667 ram including the OCZ ram you intend to buy should work so just get the cheapest stick of ram that has a lifetime warranty( Brand is not important). -
Awesome thanks! For convience I'm hoping to buy my RAM from the same place, and believe it or not, the OCZ is even cheaper than the 2GB Kingston Value Ram.

I didn't make it over here before this deal at Fry's sold out on the Web site but if any come back in stock, Fry's has a Crucial 2GB stick for $14.99 after a $30 MIR:
http://shop2.outpost.com/product/54...NFWghwfOQ**.node1?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
There's another deal for 2 1GB sticks for $17.99 after rebate:
http://shop2.outpost.com/product/52...NFWghwfOQ**.node1?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
The 2x1GB stick product page isn't showing the rebate form but neither was the one above at first. (It's showing up in the search results that there's a rebate.) Here's the search page link that shows the rebate:
http://shop2.outpost.com/{GDPoAX8Ju...ng=2gb+ddr2+pc5300&cat=&submit.x=0&submit.y=0
The same thing was happening with the 2GB stick that sold out at first. I Emailed customer support about the $14.99 stick showing a rebate on the search page but not the product page and they Emailed me a PDF copy of the rebate form within an hour. -
I'm in the market to buy a new stick of 2GB DDR2 for my notebook, though it seems I've missed all of the good deals. =(

can the m9750 use 4GB ram with 64Bit operating system or is the limit part of the parts that the m9750 use.

Take a look at this thread(pay close attention of Gophns post).

can RAM in laptops be used in desktops?
-
i currently have 533MHz ram in my laptop, can i put and use 677MHz ram?
-
(notice the size/pin difference)
However, I believe that some mobos accept so-dimm(laptop) modules. Look at the mobo manual.

would OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Laptop Memory works in my X61 laptop?
would this memory be better than the PC 5300 ones on my laptop of course -
ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
4GB though, would fit and work. -
I'm looking for 4GB of RAM for my Dell XPS m1330 in the UK. Can I do better than this for the price (including delivery):

Cheers,

it's ok if it downclock into 667, but will it has better timing and everything? coz i find out that it will cost me around 10$ more for the 800 RAM. or should i save the $10 and go for 667 mhz?
thanks -
ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
But then again, many things might happen during that time (you sell your laptop, the Montevina platform uses different memory pin configuration, or whatever). -
^^ thanks alot
i think i'll go for the 800mhz and some peace on my mind that i got a better one than save $10 and questioning if i got the 800mhz will it improve my laptop performance -
I have a Vostro 1400 with 1G (512MB x 2), taking up all two slots, and I was wondering if I should buy:
1. Kingston 2GB ( 2 x 1GB ) PC2 5300 667MHz for ~$27
http://www.buy.com/prod/Kingston_2G...M_DDR2_Laptop_Memory/q/loc/273/204884017.html
OR
2. OCZ 2GB PC2-5400 SODIMM 667MHz for ~$20 after rebate
http://www.buy.com/prod/OCZ_2GB_PC2...Series_Laptop_Memory/q/loc/273/204839762.html
also, anyone know how long OCZ rebates take??/
thanks
-wtiger91- -
I'd go for the second one

As for how long, here's an example from my Dell laptop that I had upgraded to 4GB (2x2GB).
