its not the brand thats important actually... rather the chip
this Chip for the Super Talent RAM is Micron.... thats as good as its gonna get.![]()
Crucial and other brand names use the same RAM chips.
And the memory has lifetime warranty as well... like every other memory.![]()

This thread is great! Even dealram.com doesn't have this stuff. Just bought 2 of the eWiz 2GB modules. Anyone done business with these guys before?
-
Yup, I have bought many things from eWiz.
Fast shipments, no problems. -
Quite a good deal. Almost as good as the $9.99AR deal at newegg for a 1GB DDR2-667Mhz stick.
-
A single 2GB stick by Patriot - $99 shipped.

That SuperTalent RAM has Micron chips... thats pretty much Crucial.
I'll add it though. thanks. -
What chips are on the Patriot stick?
-
All Right, I've looked around and this what I've found.
These are Micron chips also.
"D9HNL is a relatively new chip from Micron, based on the revision E die."
Check it out:

yup, Micron chips are used in many brands.
-
Meaning that the Patriot deal is as hot as SuperTalent?
-
Both still has lifetime warranties. -
just added this

OK.... really quick...
Who wants me to also add DDR1 deals in this thread as well?
Seems that this thread just made its way onto Slickdeals.
Tell me what other RAM that I should also focus on, like:
- DDR1 266/333/400
- DDR2 533/666/800
....etc.... -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
DDR1 is pretty outdated for the most part and no deal seeking needs to be done its just plane cheap
I dont see a need for it.
You can add in DDR2 desktop ram tho. -
Maybe we should make this a hot link?
-
yeah, an Auto Link would be nice.

Im tempted to buy that 65$ 2gb stick and have it on the side till i get my notebook
bad idea... who knows when I'll get it. More deals are sure to come along, I expect even more DDR2 price cuts when DDR3 starts hitting mainstream.
-
Do much reading? It's at least twice as expensive as DDR 2.
Please include the DDR sodimm prices too,I've got a 2 year old laptop that needs some and I've been looking to no avail. -
ViciousXUSMC Master Viking NBR Reviewer
I got mine for 120$ 2x1gb like... 2 years ago. It was on sale, looked it up now its 140$
thats not nearly 2x the price of DDR2 -
I can't believe I missed this thread!
I just purchased a vaio and opted for the manufacturer upgrade because there's only 1 RAM slot total, so I needed a 1 x 2GB stick and they charged $167, figuring that was decent. but now I see that you can get one from ewiz for just $88! ARRGH -
any idea what speed can a dv9000t intel version can handle?
-
you can get up to DDR2 667 SO-DIMM
-
I see 2 different speeds PC5400 and PC5300.
the one at Fry's is PC5300 and eWiz has PC5400
Should I go with PC5400?? -
either would be fine.
-
nice
Thank you for the quick replies -
Gophn,
Please do post deals on DDR1 333/400. Thanks a lot!
-
If i have a 512mb stick of ddr2 pc5300 and then replace another 512mb stick with a 1gb stick (totaling 1.5gb), i won't be able to run those in dual channel anymore would I? Also, does it matter if they're the same speed but different brands? Would that affect performance or compatibility?

nice find.
I'll add that. -
Wow eWiz is fast, ordered the SuperTalent 2x2GB today and my package has already shipped.
-
But Patriot is a more trusted brand.
That's why I picked it.
BTW, when you get yours, would you please post the chip's designation.
I wonder if Super Talent use the exact same version of Micron chips. -
is it ok to mix and match ram? like 1 gig corsair 667 mhz ram with say another 1 gig 667 mhz ram from another company?
or is it like batteries in that you should have all of th same brand of batteries? -
its OK to mix RAM...
only Dual Channeling will require having two of the same sticks of RAM... which is not used for the majority of systems on the market. -
Ahem.. the Patriot deal is back to $99
-
That Patriot deal is still out of stock though I think...
