I hope you get your order, esp. after cancelling the one with HP. I would be upset if that happened to me also.

 

mmhmm... i have a hard time believing that. i rarely see devs give eta on stuff. only when the stuff is ready and they need to upload is when they give eta. if they're a good dev anyways. but i still don't believe it'll be ready soon, much less stable.

Whole CRAPLOAD of activity, and thats where the claim came from, from one of the high up devs. They said that it will most likely be, if they have it working, have noting working but the touchscreen.

What? Only 87 total units were available? And they received 17,528 orders? How poorly managed is that? Seems it should have been shut off WELL before it was. Looks like we ALL lose out.

 

Wow. I still haven't gotten a cancellation or shipping notice but I got in kind of late and I assume that it is very unlikely I was in the first 87. Oh well.

well, i didn't get my single order from b&n online. i guess back to my bad jokes about turning my 500 touchpads into a personal jumbotron. mwahahaha. i was going to give it to my mum too. seriously. after i played with it for a week. the atrix and lapdock are way cooler anyways. i haven't opened my 5160 in 3 days.

 

I would have bought one of the other ones if I had known this about Amazon, so miss out completely.

Well whatever stock Amazon had (not OnSale) apparently went back to HP because of their soon to be released tablet (rumor at least) and didn't want to sabotage the sales of their own tablet. So maybe there will be another massive sale somewhere soon.

 

Dang, and I had quit shopping, guess it is time to start hitting the sites again every fee hours to see if anyone is up.

 

I feel bad for the people who haven't gotten in on this.. Mine should be here Friday or earlier!

I kinda had a feeling this would happen... so I ended up ordering from Best Buy, B&N, and OnSale. Glad I did because Best Buy is the only one that went through.

 

Per HP call center 1-866-625-0242 #3. All orders placed after 8/22/11 4:01am will be cancelled.

 

OnSale was the only place that it was still possible for me to order from by the time I decided I wanted one.

I just can't believe in this day and age that they can't have it automatically cut off once the limit is met. I can see going over by a couple dozen maybe, but several thousand!

Ha I just now noticed this thread and what it was for. I saw it listed on the main forum page for days now and wondered why it never lost top spot on an otherwise busy sale section.

I for some reason was reading it as "hp tablet" not a touchpad otherwise I may have tried to get one as well just as a fun toy.

Oh well I really would have not had much use for it anyways. I want one of the Windows 7 ones (yeah I know that sounds crazy) just because it will be able to run software that I want like emulators.

A linux based pad would be fine as well.

 

I'm considering waitin a bit and hoping for a similar reduced white one?
It should have increased specs. So i might consider that depending on the price.

Yeah but wonder how much it will cost? It's kinda harder to throw more money on something you know is a dead end product with no further support on the OS & Programs.

 

Not looking good for me, both my HP and Amazon/onSale orders have released their pending hold charges on my CC.

 

Still pending for me but I didn't get a shipping notification yesterday. I am assuming that I won't be getting them at this point.

 

No charges released yet for me... crossing fingers. But no shipping details either. Must just be working through the whole backlog of orders.

 

Things just got a little interesting for me. A couple days ago I emailed onSale via Amazon's website on both of my orders, No response.

This morning I emailed Amazon on both orders regarding this issue. They emailed me back, apologized for their actions, and noticed I emailed them regarding the order(s) then said to wait because I may qualify for their A-Z guarantee which means i'll get back the full amount of money they charged me even though they never sent the item.

Amazon is simply the BEST

 

Wait, why are they the best? They're not sending you the item so they better credit you everything back.

 

Because they follow up on customer issues including purchases made via 3rd party. I have not heard from onSale as of yet and probably won't.

 

Ah ok, I follow. Amazon will definitely hear from me if I don't get my merchandise shipped and don't hear from OnSale by the end of the week!

I think he got his at bestbuy.com not onsale, so it doesn't help us. Kevin correct me if I am wrong on this. Congratulations.

On the positive side of things, if we don't get them, I expect Black Friday will have a $200 Honeycomb Tegra 2 tablet (Asus or Acer probably). With Kal-El coming during Christmas, Tegra 2 should get at least a $100 price drop. Doesn't help us now, but cheaper tablets are coming hopefully

Lol. All my Best Buy stores I called first thing it says "We are sold out of all HP Touchpads and do not know if or when we will receive any additional stock".

I called HP this morning so as to see if I could uncancel my order. I gave up after 95 minutes on hold. I then got a voicemail from HP to confirm the cancellation.

I quickly called back and was able to catch it in time so they will fulfill my original order.

My housemate called and they said none was in stock. Then he went to the store and saw around 10 there. In the end, he bought one. Seeing is believing, sir.
