Brendanmurphy Your Worst Nightmare
I have HWmonitor, skype, msn, wmp all on my second monitor and a browser if im needing to find something. It's not gonna be able to be used in a game with a laptop unless your not using the laptop screen.
I just had it sitting in my basement that's why i use it -
Lovin' the man caves being posted. My set up is pretty modest, being a student and all.

Now that I have my new laptop, here are some refreshed photos.
On the desktop from right to left, there's an el-cheapo Ativa mouse (will be replaced with a Logitech G9x soon
), Bamboo Pen and Touch, Thinkpad W520, my external HDD (near the bottom left corner of the laptop), my iPod, and my Sony headphones and Samsung cell phone (near the top left corner of the laptop). A TI-89 Titanium sits at the far left edge.
My whole desk, in all its glory! </sarcasm>
I have my current laptop bag (Verge brand) at the bottom of the picture, next to the chair that is (just about) as old as I am; between my bed and desk is my old Targus bag. I keep most of my important things on the bottom left shelf; (from left to right) currently it has a stack of PC games, JVC Gummies, headphone splitter, ESD band and the W520's stock 500GB drive, precision screwdriver set, an old cardboard box my SSD came in, Clemson lanyard (go Tigers!), and several boxes of contact lens. Top left shelf keeps the cell phone's shipping box, books, and important papers. The row of books (from left to right) are my AFJROTC portfolio, Pre-Calculus binder, Spanish binder (with 4 years worth of notes, more or less), Calculus AB binder, some papers, my senior high school yearbook (at my second high school), sophomore yearbook (at my original high school), school literary magazines I contributed to, a thesaurus, Spanish-English dictionary, and manuals for my TI-89 and my old TI-83+ (now handed down to my brother). The box is filled with random cables and CDs/DVDs, as well as other junk.
Top of the desk is the new home for my old laptop, may it rest in peace. -
Bog, I have the same monitor. Love it! I'll put up one of my lame nerd corner later.
-
Holy National Geographic, Batman!
-
I love it too, its served me very well so far.
I read all those as a child, definitely helped me develop as a reader and writer. Besides, every issue of NG is an adventure.
-
Double post delete.
-
Ok just moved into my new house, here is my little setup, i still got a 84" manual projector screen to go up and a Optoma HD67N 3D projector
-
Very very nice indeed!!
-
Yeah nice set-up, very clean, I love it!
I updated my set-up (now I have two 25" monitors
)
-
DUDE, you have the same setup as my dad
-
Let me post an update on mine. I'm moving down from multiple monitors. I remember saying I wouldn't but just got tired of them I guess. I wasn't really using them anymore...
Anyway, my setup used to look like this:

I'm now down to:
Still looking for a new desk and a couple more toys. -
New desk! Wife and I went to lunch and stopped by staples and found this L desk for $70! She had a gift card so it ended up being 40 couple bucks. Very happy having an L desk again! Sorry about the quality as my evo shift is all I have in the ways of a camera.
-
Loving the case Sphinx!
-
I would do a setup pic but my setup is in one of those "under stair closets
" and its the light is super low. But with my Xbox 360, Laptop, all my games and a 24'' TV, its pretty packed
!
-
Thanks! Its the best air cooled case I have ever used and the transparent and neon green set it off. Sadly the internals are showing their age. I am currently deciding between doing a zino(linux)/mini(linux) or buying parts to put in my danger den.
-
I have that same desk; only thing I dont like about mine is after a while it started to bow. I'm looking for a good glass/metal desk to replace it. -
-
What monitor is that? It looks extremely crisp.
-
It's a BenQ G2220HDA. It's not too bad.
-
Haha The iPad mouse pad is clever!
-
It is! Was only $3.99!
-
Are you sure it's not MAGICAL?
-
Yeah I can see that happening with this desk. Fortunately its not bowing right now how Im using it so Im hoping I can get a decent amount of time out of it as I cannot afford an l desk right now.

Love that wallpaper

Interesting tool for solving computer frustrations you have there.
(otherwise it would be massively sadcase to have a firearm displayed thus
)
-
I had to go back to his post to look for it and I was like, "Holy..." xD
Also, he still uses floppy disks? -
LMAO I was wondering if anyone noticed. Well usually that piece stays in the nightstand for quick action, but that night there were some hooligans out and about causing trouble so I figured Id have it a bit more handy in the office.
LoL yeah .45 acp 12 + 1. I sleep much better with it within arms reach. Oh and I wouldnt worry unless you only see 1 magazine as that means its loaded and ready to go.
As for the floppy I dont use them, rather its my "High tech" drink coaster.
-
nice percs! maybe i'll include mine when i take a pix of my new setup.
can't really tell from the fuzzy pictures, but is that a Sig or USP? i always have my lovely HK USP within arms reach.
-
The .45 isn't for solving computer frustrations. It's more for those that like to off the company IT personnel.
-
@Sphinx I really thought that was a toy at first.
Anyways, Where do you even get floppy discs anymore? -
Taurus 24/7 OSS .45acp 12+1. Amazing pistol thats accurate and tough as nails. More then worthy of the role of depending my familys lives on.
LoL My end users know Im a firearms owner and know how to use them and still they try to get rid of me and dsirespect me.
Its is definitely not a toy. Real deal.
I found the floppy I used to do memtests with a few years ago and decided to use it as my drink coaster.
-
@Sphinx: nice!
u know what? i don't remember the last time i've even seen a floppy disk drive lol. -
Last time I saw one was when I was in elementary school >.<. Moved over to CD/DVD in middle school, then flashdrives in high school
-
Now I feel old compared to privatejarhead. I was using 5.25" floppies when I was in Elementary School. Finally moved to 3.5" in High School, and starting using the first HP 2x speed CDRW drive in 1996. Bought my first 256MB flash drive in 2004, which I still have to this day.
-
It sounds like you and I are about the same age! We are exactly the same regarding 5.25" and 3.5" floppies. And I remember buying my first USB flash drive in 2004 as well. It was a 256MB Sandisk drive on sale for about $33, which was a great price at that time and so I bought two! I still have one of them though it's rarely used, since I now have a 32GB one (which cost me about $37 last December).
Oh, let me post an update of my computer photo:

Ha. My first flash drive was 128MB and cost around $25 new. Funny that $25 will now nearly buy me a 16GB flash drive.
As for computers, our first one was a NEC desktop with an AMD K6 processor, 96MB RAM, 12GB HDD, and Win98. We used that until 2005 when we bought an eMachines T6412 with AMD Athlon 64 3400+, 512MB RAM (now 382MB...), ATi integrated graphics, 200GB HDD, and WinXP Home. Moved to a HP Pavilion Elite m9402f with an AMD Phenom X4 9650, 7GB DDR2 RAM, 640GB 5400RPM HDD, nVidia GeForce 6150SE integrated graphics, and Windows Vista Home; it's still the main family desktop.
I'm the only person in the family who knows anything about computers, so I usually dictate what everyone buys. Yes, I love AMD
(though I'm all Intel for laptops).
-
LoL for me it was 5.25 for elementary, 3.5 for middle, high school and early college. Wasnt until the flash craze that I dropped floppies, and I never picked up on cds as they were too expensive to use as storage.
-
Oh my God.....I think I just has some sort of erotic episode.
Anyway, that aside, my first flash drive was a PNY Attache 128MB that my mother acquired from work. After that was stolen when my apartment was broken into, I got a 256MB PNY Attache for about $15 from Walmart. After I lost that one, I got a 2GB which I also lost. Then came another 2GB, a 4GB, a 32GB, and another 2GB. Someone stole my 32GB, I still have the two 2GB drives and the 4GB. -
Wow. What are requiring all of that for? lol -
I'd love to have a setup like that pianowizard...Only problem is that I wouldn't know what to do with all those displays >.<
-
I am a scientist and the data analysis that I do requires so many pixels. You can see such analysis in progress in the photo. One can never have too much real estate for this type of analysis. I wish I could afford eight IBM T220 3840x2400 monitors!
-
That is freakishly amazing.
I wish I had space to fit all of that.
I don't even have a computer room, kinda. o_o -
Id crap my pants if I had 1 let alone more then one...
-
-
Look for my desk in this thread, I solved the bowing issue quite cheaply.
Show us your computer room 2!
