After moving into my dorm room, this is now my new setup:

I lofted my bed so I could fit my TV, fridge, coffeemaker, and food storage under it, using my office chair as a sort of recliner.

I have that very same rack for my keurig.
-
@privatejarhead:
You have an amazing setup that I would love to have.
I'll take a picture of mine once I move in to my new apartmemt next month. -
Thanks! I'm actually not quite done with arranging things yet, so I'll post new pictures when I get the chance.
Also, there's now a mini-grill hiding behind the TV. Makes for some awesome grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. -
This was my dorm room:
I have more pictures but they basically show my "cleanliness". -
Updated photos, after some major shopping and such.
I bought a rug to cover the bare tiled floor, and a mini grill so I can cook a little (sweet deal at $6).
Big whiteboard
Just another shot, with my bed and sink. If you look closely, you'll see another whiteboard, though smaller:
Said whiteboard currently has....
-
Wow! You get your own sink!
I'm so jelly. -
Wow, nice surge protector!
-
Looks like it's from Davis somewhere in the Regan Halls. Then I see your tag. What are you studying?
-
Actually, that was in Tercero Pierce K306. I believe I was studying for Plant Biology.
-
@privatejarhead: I am surprised that they let you use high-wattage devices in your dorm room. Most places do not as they will kill the dorm halls' circuit breakers in a heartbeat. I've even seen some places that do not allow desktops due to power consumption. From what I've seen, you got it easy.
-
o_o
I never heard of that rule. -
Well, if there is such a rule, I've haven't had a problem with it yet...
The grill might be a problem since it's technically a hot plate, but my RA hasn't done anything about it yet.
EDIT: Clemson University, while not exactly banning desktops, requires that each student have a laptop (which excludes "netbooks and iPads"), hence why I bought a W520 instead of a weaker laptop/netbook + uber desktop. So practically, you don't see desktops here, but only because most students only need one computer and that ends up being a low-powered laptop most of the time (Hp Pavilions, Dell Vostro/Latitude, or mostly MBPs). Clemson sells a custom Precision M4600 w/4yr accidental warranty on campus, so it would be hypocritical of them to ban high-wattage systems like that. -
hah, upgrade that thing!
-
This is my computer room, on the left is my side with:
24' samsung t240 (piece of crap
)
Dell ultrasharp 2007wfp
sony stereo mhc-rg22
+ a whole bunch of other stuff

I have another similar setup at my student house I'll show that when im there
At the other side is:
My old desktop bigtower under the desk.
ps3 on the desk + 26'' tv. -
Just because you haven't, doesn't mean the rule doesn't exist. Some places are more lenient than others.
-
Not really my computer room, well it is for now, until i can be bothered to actually move my pc bits onto my computer desk (in the spare bedroom)
84" Optoma Screen, and HD67N 3D HD Projector.

Hey guys,
Have been watching this thread for a while and decided it was time to show my setup.
Picture of a 1/60 model of the desk.
-
I don't know many desks that come with their own mini-models like that. Did you use the 1/60 model to custom-build yours or something?
-
Yeah, I designed it in solidworks and used a rapid prototyper to print it out. Just to get a good idea how it would look before I built it.
-
^ aaaaahhh good!! I was looking at it and going... isn't that from a 3d printer?!!
-
Here's mine... it's not much but I'm trying to rebuild after selling off most of my computer stuff to fund other habits. Also, sorry for awful pic. I need a new phone! OG Droid FTL

Yes, its my current setup for now. Can't beat free and it was from a diff. part of my house. Behind the machine is my external hard drive...all that's missing is my speakers. -
pretty large, but kinda bad quality
-
After working in the automotive field I most definitely prefer craftsman. But youll see that tool loyalty can sometimes rival brand loyalty of cars/trucks...
-
-
Snap On tools are overpriced.
Craftsman's quality has fluctuated throughout the years, but have improved much from their beginnings. They still break relatively easily.
Both are lifetime warrant; the convenience of having a Snap On truck pass by work once a week is more beneficial than going out of your way to the local Sears.
Don't forget Matco either. -
if you spent any time as a professional technician, there is no way you would prefer craftsman, unless you are talking about price... i definitely prefer paying 1/2 price but you actually have to go to sears to get anything warrantied and they always give you a ration of $$hit... and the tools break easily, thats why most of the time i get matco or snap on, and rarely mac... cant beat them coming to you, but it does cost a fortune.... just bought a scanner and it took most of my tool allowance for the year, and i have to buy the European add on still...
-
I've broken many of craftsman tools, but my snap-on/mac tools never fail me.
-
It's like the headmaster's desk at the Derek Zoolander Center For Children Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too. Cool setup!
-
Looks like someone is trying to copy Leo Laporte.
-
I love the chair. I have thought about getting one myself.
Ditto. Coolest thing I have is a danger den box that glows green.
Ill agree that craftsman has fluctuated quality over the years and has me looking at sk or cornwell. I have mac and matco air tools as well as a craftsman gun.
I was a mechanic for over 5 years. I worked for ford for about 4 of those using anything from sk, snap on, mac, matco, cornwell and craftsman. It may sound wierd to you but it wasnt just price that had me buying craftsman. When I was in ford asset they gave us a 52.5% discount at snap on and I still chose craftsman for feel and operation. Im still using the tools I bought in 2001 and havent had to replace a single tool (although some of my tools are close to needing replacement) and I beat and over extend my tools all the time.
I look at tool preference like I do to the ford chevy dodge debates. Everyone has their brand loyalty. My long time buddy loves snap on boxes but hates their tools and he went sk/cornwell. Oh and every tech I apprenticed under had an assortment, hell most had all the big names and even some no names as well. To each their own.

Is the ball more comfortable to sit than a regular chair?

Here's a quick shot of my dell precision m90 which arrived today

mmm bet youve got some good old pro tools running on that rig
-
who is leo laporte?
best chairs eva yo
honestly no. its for balance and posture. you get used to it and its not uncomfortable, particularly if you are on there for less than 2 hours. but long periods of time are not super comfortable. its also the worst experiance ever for watching movies. gaming on it is fantastic tho.
ps... never sit bare assed on a yoga ball. getting up hurts. -
Jeez, doesn't anyone around here remember TechTV? No? How about TWiT? Does anyone know of that? Still no? Look it up.
-
Haha, I do, and I'll never forgive Comcrap for doing what they did to ZDTV/TechTV.
For reference Joshthor, Leo sits on a exercise ball as a chair during his podcasts on TWiT.

Here is my new "computer room" more like a home cinema though.
Components:
Motherboard: Asus P8P67
CPU: Intel i5 2500K 3.3 GHz Quad
Memory: Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3 1600 MHz
GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr
Antec KUHLER H2O 620 CPU Liquid Cooler.
Haupage Freeview TV card
Case: Antec Fusion Remote Max
Manual 84" Optoma pull down screen
Optoma HD67N 3D HD Projector.
5.1 Surround system
Some pics aren't very good quality using a crappy camera phone, also light coming through the blinds doesn't help with the projector!
Also got these Chinese copy of the "nvidia 3d vision kit" they work exactly the same as the nvidia version just a lot cheaper! the emitter even registers as an nvidia emitter, they must of reversed engineered it.
Show us your computer room 2!
