That is an awesome wallpaper, can you please post it?

Looking at the pics, esp. the first one, I have a sudden urgent need to go out and get a new duster. Yech.
Left to right is Crunchy (who can do a mean Rinzler impression following a horror-story warranty-debacle that wound up with shipping-induced crushing
), Frank (short for Frankenstein's Monster), and the youngest (who hasn't "earned" any sort of name yet). Frank's the grey one under the desk in the last pic.
I'm still working on the cable management but it's a sight better than it used to be. -
^ ^ That's quite a set up.

Though it looks so weird to see an orange laptop lol

Quick update of my set-up.
Sorry for the quality. I'm just not good. -
Meh nothing special.

Homank, what GPU do you have in the Alienware? How do you find it running those monitors? Are you managing native res? I'm torn between a Dell U2711/U3011 or a 1080p monitor, don't know if I'll have the grunt with my Clevo for it to be worth it...
-
I currently have Dual 580's driving the monitors at max res with no problems. I'm actually looking at buying an U3011 myself to replace my U2412 and I know I can drive both the U3011 and U2711 at max res just fine....I'm hoping.

This might have been asked already but there's like a million pages to this thread. Do you use the yoga ball as a chair? How is that working out? I'm looking for new ways to save my back.

Late to the party I know but cool setup. Like the orange. Love the Genndy Microseries or The Clone Wars style Yoda. -

I use an exercise ball as a chair, and have done for maybe two years now. It's good for developing better balance and posture. But it actually compresses your spine more compared to a normal chair, so if you have lower back problems it's not going to be comfortable. -
aye i do. it works fine. good for posture. every few months though it hurts my back though. tends to be during the stressful times at work. (black friday, now, major holidays)
-
My little corner of paradise. I've been doing some work on it for the past couple of days. New chair will come on Tuesday, vacuum will be done tomorrow. Usual spoilers for giant pics.

I posted a photo a couple years ago but now my main setup looks very different, so here's an update:
You are looking at my HP 8300 Elite (Core i7-3770, 12GB DDR3 RAM, three 3TB hard drives, Intel HD Graphics 4000, Nvidia 8600GT, 8400GS and 7300LE) driving 7 monitors totalling 18 megapixels. The laptop to the left, my Gateway NX860X with 17.0" 1920x1200, is usually just used for playing background music. -
Thinking of getting this to put on my computer room to replace my desk and chair.

I like that alot! I use 2 external LCDs and my precision screen and I take up ALOT of desk space and its damn near uncomfortable to work for extended periods of time.
-
Same here, I'm more interested in the comfortable chair and keyboard/mouse arm.
Good thing about it is it's modular, if you don't need the lcd mount you can remove it along with other parts
Sent from my EndeavorU using Tapatalk 2 -
Two suggestions: 1) rotate the external LCDs into portrait orientation, and 2) replace the Precision with a desktop computer, which you can put on the floor. It's ironic that "laptops" are actually used on desktops, whereas "desktops" are usually put on the floor so you get more desktop space.

My simple Alienware set up xD

Wish it was that easy, much faster to plug a work laptop to multiple screens at home if you need to work than copy files from a work laptop to a desktop setup.
Sent from my EndeavorU using Tapatalk 2 -
To each his own. I prefer to transfer files to and from work using my smartphone, so I don't even have to carry a laptop, which means I can walk faster and don't suffer shoulder/back pain. (Cloud storage wouldn't work for me because my file are often HUGE.) Another advantage is that my desk at home is less cluttered than for people using laptops. Laptops take up so much valuable desk space, as Sphinx complained above.
-
Moved back onto my campus apartment, got a bookcase for much-needed storage, and cleaned out everything on my side of the room (roommate moved out for co-op). Didn't have my laptop in the room at the time.
Of course, I have to have my Hellsing collection. Need to get the rest of the mangas though T_T
-
Love the orange Alienware a couple pages back.
I don't feel like picturing my current setup right now. Imagine a card table from the '30s with a laptop on it (yes, 1930s). And you're most of the way there.
Instead, you get a picture (attached) from the old college days. Not that dissimilar from Tigertown in the dorm setup. I was pretty lucky with that dorm - had about 8 windows. The laptop featured is a IBM ThinkPad X41 tablet PC that I was borrowing that semester. Kinda slow compared to my regular one, but the tablet functionality was cool, as was the fact that it was an IBM.Attached Files:

small files are synched through dropbox on mine, however most of my work are stored on different virtual machines with sizes ranging from 40gb-80gb. (sigh.... and that doesn't include the different development configurations per client like vpn, source control settings, different versions of visual studio etc...) -
^^^
Do a secondary HDD with a Black X at each location. Do another drive at your work location to back up your files for good redundancy. -

Moved my tower into the basement so that I can enjoy silent, heat free gaming. 45' hdmi, 40 ft cat 6 with usb to cat 6 adapters on either end, audio over hdmi, powered remote hub for jump drive, and remote power on.
