Heil! I finally got acer 6935 as a refurbished. On Pc world website it said it as 256 MB dedicated graphics but when I ordered it, it infact as 512 MB dedicated graphics. It is GEFORCE 9600M GS :D

I am not sure if it has blu ray or not as it is not mentioned on the dvd super multi format dual layer drive. All is fine just that after I got my final windows 7 professional copy, I installed it and all is fine except that the volume control on the cine dash is not accurate in controlling my volume although rest all controls are fine. This happened only after I installed windows 7 but on vista it was working just fine and very accurate.

I am very happy with this system so far. I hope I get a keyboard skin for it so that no dust gets accumulated on the underside of the keyboard.

Yes, they all can burn dual layer DVDs but not all have blu-ray drives.

For all those having issues with the W7 Launchmanager for the 6935.
As some of you have noticed, the W7 version from the Acer site results in slow response or erratic behaviour.
Solution: Use the Vista Launchmanager. That one works fine on W7.

I have a strange problem with my acer 6935. Sometimes while I am listening to music or using any application which emits sound from my speakers, I hear some disturbance. Its a glitching sound and very irritating. It usualy stops automatically or if I rest my speakers for a while. I am not sure if any of you is also facing the same problem. Do let me know.

    Thanks

Are there any WIFI drivers for Windows 7 64 bit yet? Does it work with Vista ones (for me the most important driver)? I really want to improve my acer as it irritates me for a while with its slow work. I have basic vista home 32 bit.

    Thanks for any replies

    Hi everyone,

Just a couple of quick things:

    1. I'm using Realtek 2.36, but I still have the "Internal Subwoofer" etc., so it must be a combination of 2.36 + some other software that's causing it to disappear for some people.
    2. BIOS 1.14 is out. Not sure what it does yet. I can't get it to install as Acer have incorrectly packaged the BIOS with only a 32-bit installer and I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

Hello everyone - firstly I take my hat off and bow towards Darika, her original review made me buy me lovely Acer 6935G Bluray model. It's the 944G32Bn model and it's a cracking machine :)

I installed Win7 64bit and is great but as always there were some niggles...

I sorted out launchmanager problem by installing the Vista pro x64 driver as mentioned by a previous poster - thank you.

This has also fixed the volume dial on the touchpad which now works correctly under Win7 (using the Vista x64 driver).

I'm no having a problem with the UK TV Tuner setup I installed the A309 and A310 drivers but can not get any Media Centre to get any channels - if anyone has an idea (the aerial etc are all plugged in).

    Thanks
    Naz

I solved it by installing the Acer Vista sound driver first. Then update the driver with Realtek W7 driver 2.35. Acer did something to the driver to make use of the subwoofer.

    Hi Masimo,

Sorry but that's not correct - I installed only fresh Win7 Home Premium 64-bit followed by 2.36 from Realtek and I've got all of the controls including subwoofer... It must be something more complicated...

We'll figure it out eventually! :)

It seems to be a problem with the new BIOS (1.14). I had the same problem with the Cinedash multimedia control. The lights were off for about 2-3 minutes from booting and then stopped responding even if the lights indicated that the interface was active. I tried removing the battery, still no chance. The problem was corrected by the 1.13 version.

My whole system is working fine. The only problem I am facing now is the cine dash media control. All the controls on it are working fine except the volume control. If I try to increase or decrease the volume it does not respond accurately.

When I was on Vista, it was working perfectly fine. Someone suggested to install the vista drivers for ITECIR Infrared Receiver (EC). The problem is, I tried uninstalling this windows 7 driver for ITECIR and installed vista but it does not install the previous version and hence the problem is not getting solved.

Can anyone suggest me how to successfully uninstall the present driver version 5.1.0.1 for ITECIR found under Human Interface Devices and replace it with vista version of ITECIR driver which is lower than the windows 7 version?

Also, are you guys also facing the same problem? what driver version do you have for ITECIR?

    @Vanquisher007
What version of BIOS do you have? On 1.14 version i had problems, with the 1.13 everything works fine. The ITECIR version 5.1.0.1 is installed on my system (not tested). Are you refering (your volume problem) to the remote control or the touch-sensitive pad? To uninstall, if not working from device manager, use an uninstaller. I use Revo, with good results. Have you tried installing the eRecovery with Vista-compatibility mode?
For the Cinedash i use Dritek 2.0.0.2. The one for Win7 did not worked for me (a volume problem, the driver stopped responding). Anyone had this problem?

I will recommend to go to an ACER Service Center. That's what I did. My Battery went dead 3 months before the end of the warranty, the battery has been replaced for free. I always had a 8 cell battery so I don't know the issue by changing an 6cell by a 8cell.
I don't think it will damage your notebook.

I tried uninstalling the windows 7 version driver for CIR. But even after installing the vista version driver for it, I see that the version is still te same. I am really pissed off with this issue now. I wonder why acer is recommending windows 7 if it has not yet realeased fuly functional drivers for windows 7 yet. ing morons tey are.

Select your default playback device by right clicking on the volume icon on lower right hand side of your screen and then click properties. Therein you will see a tab called 'Dolby'. Select it and check mark 'Sound Space Expander' and 'Natural Bass'. Then below, increase the bass boost bar to its fullest and you should be all set.

Didn't notice this 6935G thread!!! If any one can help I posted these in the Acer section recently.

    -----------------------------------------------
    -----------------------------------------------

    Aspire 6935G power problem!!

Had this laptop for a few months and it's been fine, however since I've had it I've had a big issue with the power on this.

If I "restart" my system, it'll close down.. and wont come back on again.. it seems like it tries to but just switches it's self off...

I try switching it on manually but it doesn't work so I have to take the power jack out... power it on with just the battery... it'll load up then I can put the power jack back in.

Sometimes I have to take the battery out as well, has any body else had this problem? It doesn't seem anything major but wondering if it could turn into one.

    #########

Acer 6935G CPU Upgrade - What options?

Do a lot of video editing and the P7350 which comes with my config doesn't quite cut it.

Acer site isn't much use with any decent information, I'm assuming I can upgrade to a T9600 with no problem (with the latest bios update ofc)? It's about the speed I'd want, any more calification would be grand!

    Thanks

I get this the odd time. It either switches on and stays on without doing anything or turns on then off. For me just taking the ac out for 5 seconds fixes it straight away. Hasn't happened for awhile though. Normally when it happens it happens a lot.

This happens to me sometimes. It seems to fix if I go to device manager and disable then enable realtek high definition audio and the bass level should work again

I don't think the problem it's with the ITECIR drivers (infrared). You could test this by removing them and check if the problem was solved. Your problem is generated (possibly) by the dritek port which is installed with the Launch manager (Dritek). Inside of it is the non-plug-and-play driver dportio.sys which would be placed in .../program files/launch manager/. However, it is not found in the win7 drivers of Launch manager. I have installed the vista version of it with the Vista-compatibility mode activated. Uninstall Launch manager, remove the folder manually if necessary and install an older version. I recommend version 2.0.0.2. You could also update the BIOS to 1.13, although it will not solve your problem. I did mine, no problems here.
Have you tried removing the battery for 10 sec?

To cure the slow respons of sound control with the cinedash console, you MUST install the Vista Launchmanager.
Uninstall your W7 launchmanager. Restart and install the Vista version.
The W7 version of the Launchmanager sucks.

I solved my sound problems (subwoofer, crackling noise) as follows:
    1. Uninstall all current sound drivers
    2. Restart
    3. Install the official Acer sound driver for Vista (in compatibility mode)
    4. Restart (after that you will have Acer HD Audio Manager in the Control Panel)
    5. Get the Realtek W7 2.35 driver
    6. Install it
this will happen in 2 steps:
    a. Running the setup will uninstall the current driver and restart the machine
    b. Run the setup again to install the W7 driver and restart (Acer HD Audio Manager will remain in the CP)

After this procedure my sound issues were gone. Good deep sound with bass and no crackling noises.

I tried all the steps but in vain. I am so fed up with this cine dash thing. It has infact become worse! I can no more control volume with it, even inacurately. Nor do other controls work although they light up when I touch them. But they are totally useless now. This has got to do with software (driver) problem.

What version of Launch manager do you have now? Is the dritek port working (dev. manager - non-plug-and-play drivers)? I had problems and solved them with reinstalling Launch manager and/or removing the battery for 10 sec.

use the Windows Vista version.. Run the installer .exe in compatibility mode (Windows Vista SP2) after the installation completes..

go to the root folder of the launchmanager and also run the LManager.exe in Windows Vista SP2 compatibility mode..

    Works for me

It must depend of the 6935G Model. This is strange. For me, everything is working fine, but it will be certainely better with appropriate driver from ACER.

Anyway I've tested the nVidia 195.55 Beta... just wait for the WHQL version, there is still some compatibility issue. It is not possible to reduce or increase the light of the screen. Just keep the previous driver.

I'm gonna make a new test soon. Reducing the speed of the GPU with Riva Turner and see if it affects the battery life and common use, it means no gaming :p

no need riva tuner.. just use Nvidia Sytem Tools 6.05 Officially from Nvidia :)

    Dont use 3rd party OC-ing tool :D

After install it will intergrate into the nvidia control panel :)

    Hi all!

I have an Acer Aspire 6935G-944G32Bn notebook. With 1.14 Bios.
If somebody would like to switch it on Intel Virtualisation follow the instructions on the link. http://marcansoft.com/blog/2009/06/enabling-intel-vt-on-the-aspire-8930g/

It is WORKS for me 100%!

    1. Flash new 1.14 Bios to notebook with InsydeFlash
    2. Backup the Bios with InsideFlash! (modify platform.ini to backup! and where the save it, default location in c :)
    3. Install Python in windows (i used 2.6.2 version)
    4. Patch with vtenable.py ( http://marcansoft.com/uploads/insydehacks/ ) the dumped BIOS not the original! In the commandprompt c:\Python26\python.exe vtenable.py backup.fd new_vt_enabled.fd
    5. If patching done sucsessfully, then flash it vt enabled bios with InsydeFlas (change back the platform.ini first!)
    6. Check the VT with securable.exe http://www.grc.com/securable.htm

If any question is I try to answer.

FAIR WARNING: This might apply to other similar laptops, or it might not. It might work, it might do nothing, or it might brick your expensive laptop. Even if you own an Aspire 6935G, I take no responsiblity if your laptop dies, turns into an expensive brick, melts into a pool of slag, blows up, flicks you off, develops self-awareness, or becomes Skynet. You have been warned. I have only tested this on an Aspire 6935G with BIOS Version 1.14.

My BIOS is v1.10. I would like to try updting it to 1.13. Can you tell me how to upgrade the bios? I have downloaded the bios 1.13 from the acer website. It had an installation file. I clicked on it but nothing happened. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

    Hello!

Bios Update how to in Windows. :)

    1. Download te new 1.13 bios from acer global site to Aspire 6935
    Here is the link:
    http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...3=Aspire 6935&OS=V10&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_16

    2. Extract the archive to the HDD example c:\bios with winzip or winrar ( http://www.rarlab.com )

    3. Close running programs, make sure battery is charged and charger is inserted then run the InsydeFlash.exe in the extracted folder.

    4. Cross the fingers! Click the "start" and click the "ok" button if ask for flashing.

    5. The flasher is run automatically. Don't use the keyboard or mouse while falshing, and dont run any other program and DO NOT TURN OFF the computer!! Mouse cursor may hang on, like freez or halt computer. Maybe you see the progress bar (Erasing, Writeing....something) Please be patient, the flashing is 2-3 minutes. If flashing done computer restart automatically!

    6. Congratulations You are done! Configure the new bios or load defaults!

    Not complicated but be careful!!

If you do not understand exactly what to do, do not do it!

I have a few tips but I'm not sure to help.

    1. Unplug AC and remove battery for more then 10sec. Maybe 5 min.

    2. I use Kilimanjaro 2.0.0.2 Launchmanager for vista in Windows 7, but run in Vista compatibility mode.

    3. I use 1.92 old Realtech vista Audio driver

    4. Maybe probe a fresh Vista install with vista drivers or use Recovery discs or D2D recovery. If don't work, send to repair.

I do not have more ideas. Sorry.

just installed windows 7 ultimate some issues with driversbut sorted out most using the vista compatability.

however i have issue of the laptop just shutting down/turns off. i am able to turn back on afterwards. it did this in the vista but thought upgrading it would make difference but hasn't any ideas what problem could be?

I'm looking to do a clean install of Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit on my 6935G in the coming weeks but have a couple of queries regarding drivers.

I notice on the official Acer Win 7 Home Premium x64 driver download page that there are 3 different bluetooth drivers for the 6935G. I was wondering which one would be the best to install?

Secondly, I notice that there are no Intel chipset or wireless drivers listed on that page. Am I correct in assuming that Windows 7 includes these drivers and installs them automatically as part of the setup process?

    Thanks in advance.

I have installed windows 7 and after that installed win 7 drivers from the acer website but I have not been happy with it because some hardware wont work and it is a pain the .

I suggest you install win 7 but install vista drivers but before installing windows 7 download all the vista as well as win 7 drivers. Once done, install windows 7 and then the vista drivers. If the drivers dont get installed, use compatibility mode (choose vista service pack 2) to install them and even then if it does not installs then go for the windows 7 drivers.
