Does anyone have a solution to the trackpad? It seems really inconsistent when I need it the most... When I use it sometimes it randomly stop registering my touch (while on battery, no heat or anything) and then as I keep moving across the touchpad it starts acting as though I am using the 2 finger zoom gesture or scroll. I have to push the trackpad into the chassis a little in order for it to return to normal but it still acts weird again later...Is there a way to change trackpads? better drivers? any solution to this?
Edit: Reboot seems to fix the issue... not sure for how long, will keep testing and report back. I really hope it's a software bug and not a hardware one...
@Eluktronics Is the max 17 power brick compatible with the mag 15? and if so, can you post the dimensions of the power brick? or is it equivalent to the mag 15 "slim" adapter?

So far my touchpad has not wonked out on me since I uninstalled that driver, but I haven't had a ton of time to put it through its paces. I've been trying to bring this up here on the forums, but realized I only just registered so I had some sort of waiting period to post or reply.
But also thanks for all the help on this forum so far when it's come to installing the right nVidia driver to assist with the battery drain and other tips. Much appreciated! -
Found the following description for the HRESET I/O:
"Active high hardware reset input. Will reinitialize all device settings. Ground pin when HRESET functionality will not be used."
So from what I can gather, they didn't have (or incorrectly implemented) a trigger for HRESET, which might be something required when a change or problem is detected in the connection/port and re-initialization is needed to update/resolve the connection. Hopefully this will resolve some of the problems some people have reported where the TB USB-C port wasn't working properly at times.
Or it's something completely different. -
Not sure if it counts but the hang ups and lag issues seem to have stopped with the latest nvidia game drivers (including GeForce experience) and XMG control centre 2.1.0.19 after updating to BIOS 60. I'm using intel driver update service to keep the other drivers up to date. Had a quick test and games running stable with GPU @ around 1200mhz - will test this more later in a cooler room.

Tracking of trackpad is not the best, but I dont have any further issues with it.

For fully compatible Power Supplies including correct 12.5mm plug dimensions, check out this list:

"unofficially" but they all would work on any tongfang chassis that uses the same 12.5mm length plug some with a 12.5mm length adapter, some without. This post uses the barrel diameter which will fit TF chassis.

BTW guys, it looks like Intel-USB-C problems aren't limited to the QC7:
https://www.laptopmag.com/news/lenovo-thinkpads-hit-with-widespread-usb-c-port-defects-what-to-do
The scary part is that apparently the Intel-provided firmware will outright break the hardware (over time) after which it's too late for a software-only fix; according to:
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Think...t-s-happening-and-how-to-fix-it.451207.0.html
the potentially at-risk Thunderbolt controllers are:
----
Affected Alpine Ridge controllers (2016) PCI IDs: 15bf 15d9 15d2
Affected Titan Ridge controllers (2018) PCI IDs: 15eb
----
My QC7 is apparently 15e8 - I assume that applies to all of you, in which case it means that any Thunderbolt problems we might face are a different set of Intel-related problems?Last edited: Jan 26, 2020 -
I purchased the FSP180 180w charger from that list for day to day use and it's significantly lighter than the stock 230w charger. Obviously wouldn't work for full tilt gaming but I mainly use my laptop for ultrabook functions during the day.

does anyone know how many displays the QC7 can drive *simultaneously*? Is it possible to drive a monitor off the USB-C at the same time I am using the internal display *and* the HDMI (for a total of 3 displays)? Does anyone know of any USB-C or HDMI solutions that can drive more than one display at a time (I'm thinking of doing my own "home made" 4K solution by adding three 1920x1080 displays to the built-in display for a total 3840x2160 resolution when I'm set up on a desk - this would mean I'm one port short even if the USB-C and HDMI can be live simultaneously) -

I googled, I see what you mean - these splitters all seem to say the USB-C port needs to support "DisplayPort Alternate Mode", is this something the QC7 support? (sorry for all these basic questions)
Thanks again -
Just finally got my Eluktronics, so far very good, really like the build quality. Questions: 1) do you recommend to update bios? (i have 2019.0808.1937 now) 2) which soft to use to do undervolting?
Thanks -

Did I miss something? There seem to be no mainstream publication reviews of Mag or Max laptops. The Max versions are new, but Mag has been around a while. ????

Anyone here been able to use the Asus GPU Tweak to raise the gpu temp-limit? It doesnt seem to work on my unit.

So, I recently got a MAG-15 from Amazon, but I notice that the 2tb NVME inside it is very slow to access. There's a small "catch" when you go to do anything that might require disk access, and I was unable to turn-off Link State PWM in Intel RST (my understanding was that this was causing the SSD to spike to 100% in regular intervals). I went into the power plan itself to turn of Link State.
I guess my question is, do I have a bad SSD? Boot time is very slow, and these "hiccups" for lack of a better term are making me wonder if the problem is this off-brand "Eluktronic Pro" disk.
Edit: I re-loaded the OS clean on a spare 256GB NVME, and did not have this issue any longer. Kept the 2tb drive for a data and games drive. Machine is snappy and excellent now.Last edited: Jan 28, 2020 -
^On that note, any recommendations on an M.2 NVME SSD? I believe I've come across someone who mentioned a specific one on Ali but can't seem to find the post.

Thank you for the XMG Fusion one. Had not seen it. Only mainstream pub with US exposure in your list. I know Dave and saw his; but his video is really not a full review. I get cautious when all the videos I see about something are from the same people, who I have never heard of before.
I appreciate the magnitude of these laptops. Just a little surprised that no major tech mags have covered them. -

Looks like it's time to liquid cool! Lmfao I can't believe Intel would leave this limited to 75C. This machine has so much potential and still beats even the newest 2070 Max q laptops that just came out. If only the increased the thermal limit to at LEAST 82C id see huge gains in performance

That's neat. Jokes aside, is there any use to it, if you are hitting 90 and 88C on cpu and gpu.

Bro I'd be happy if I can get perma's mod and then 3D print a bottom panel to allow for liquid cooled cold plate while docked to my 165 hz QHD display at home and then just keep the performance @ 80% while not docked and on the go. We need to make an online petition for Intel to raise the thermal limit. Even if it's 82C I'd be happy because I saw my GPU cap out at around 80C with a power limited CPU. Maybe a modified heatsink where the pipes between the GPU and CPU are separate because let's be honest, we know it's the CPU temps that are throttling the GPU most of the time.

Anyone have the password for the zipfile? Why do they lock it like that? -
