-
has anyone ran the 3DMark06 test on the 2090 yet?
-
Can anyone help me? I can't seem to locate the smart battery feature. If you could tell me how to find it, that would be great.
-
Speaking of the battery, I've been following the guidelines listed in the OP about maintaining battery life, and I feel like...it's more trouble than it's worth. I understand how proper care is important, but I've found that it's incredibly impractical, as well as a major hassle. Unless I've missed the option to run at full power even on the battery, there is a very noticeable performance decrease when unplugged from the AC Adapter, meaning according to the guidelines, I can only play games when I'm charging from 15% up to 100%. Obviously not very conveinent, considering the purpose of the laptop is for gaming...
I know people who leave their laptops plugged in 24/7, and their batteries are going on strong 1-2 years. Am I totally wrong in thinking it's no big deal to leave it plugged in all the time, especially to serve it's task as a gaming-machine/DTR? If the only consequence is paying $100 for a new battery in 3 years instead of 4, I think that's well worth not dealing with only having functionality half of the time.
On another note, has anyone figured out a way to disable the touchpad? It's driving me crazy!! -
So long as you give it a full discharge followed by a full charge every week or two (to be conservative) you should be fine AFAIK. You've got a nice UPS the rest of the time.
-
-
I have a Toshiba Sattelite which is always plugged in and ALWAYS on.....its a family laptop, and after 2 years the battery last 20 minutes
. Im going to try charging to 40% and using PLug. Do u lose performance if u work on just plug?

I just checked my UPS tracking and my laptop arrived in Laurel, Maryland. It takes around 2 and 1/2 hours to get from there to where I live.
It's scheduled to arrive tomorrow, I'm excited. Just bought Civilization IV, and the expansion pack Beyond the Sword today, in preparation for the laptop. -
Hey Ninjazn,
Please post your impressions when you recieve it. What reseller did you order from? I live in northern VA and most likely mine will go through Laurel as well. How long did shipping take? -
I ordered from Powernotebooks and I ordered on July 27th. Shipping has taken 6 days. By the way, I just checked my tracking information and it said it was "Out For Delivery" at 7:36 A.M. in my city. Currently it's 10:31 A.M. I know UPS has a lot of stops, but it better reach my house soon.

Grr
ordered from PNB on July 17th and I'm supposedly "in production"... Going to call if no word today. Good to hear that you got it shipped Ninjazn. I guess mine took longer because i live in CA and perhaps Sager shipped straight to you, while I have to wait for the turnaround in PNB headquarters? Otherwise, I have no idea why mine hasn't shipped.
-
I think you will likely see yours included with this August 20th batch (or whenever the next shipment start shipping) based on the duplicate threads posted made by Donald/Justin. -

Get ready to see some tracking numbers tomorrow from shipments that are going out today!
-
-
Donald are they WXGA or WSXGA or both?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Both are now shipping. It will take a while to build all of the pre-orders and they are being taken based on the payment date so please be a little patient.
-
lol don't even know why i asked, i ordered from xotic, hope they're shipping too.
-
Hang tough guys, shipments are coming through and let me tell you, this laptop is definitely worth waiting for.
-
-
The laptop is well worth the wait; I've gotten mine after a month or so in waiting (should be a lot less than us early orderers as supply is getting more steady) but being able to run high end games on a laptop is really nice.
-
I emailed XoticPC and was told that my WXSGA+ ordered on July 30th is expected to ship this week. How is that possible?
Their inability to answer more than one question in an email is getting a bit annoying. Maybe I should try Justin. -
-
Can someone post how to get the webcam working? I can't figure it out.
-
You have to download AMCap.
-
Edit: Look in Signature -
does any1 know what compnaies carrying the np2090 would be able to ship it out the soonest or have them instock? i start school next week and would like to get one at least by that week.
-
Welcome to the NBR forums.
Well that question is definitely a hard one to answer.
I believe that there is a certain configuration of the notebook that will give you the best chance of a quick shipment.
But I would strongly recommend to contact (calling is best) resellers like:
they will give you the best answers and advice. -
ive contacted them both and all they told me the later part of august so not much help. are there any other laptops in this price that are as good or better?
-
The Sager 2090 is comparable to:
- Asus C90S
- Asus S96S
- Asus G1S
- Dell 1520 -
Try [email protected] they had some of their private label NP2090s in stock a couple days ago.
-
alrite thanks.
gophn- which one would you recomend other than the np2090? -
for bang for the buck:
- Dell 1520
- Asus S96S
... maybe Dell Vostro 1500 (but its a bit worse in build quality) -
alright thanks.
-
just wondering... what is the difference between sager 2090 and compal IFL 90? I'm under the impression that Sager is the "brand" like dell and HP, while Compal is the ODM.
If that's the case, then I'd be buying a Compal notebook if I bought Sager 2090, but if I bought a Compal IFL 90, I may not be buying a sager ?
I thought Sager was under Clevo? Or they just rebrand notebooks from many ODM's ?
And after browsing the resellers, I notice that Compal IFL 90 may be customized differently than Sager 2090. they also have different warranty services....
Do they have the same build quality however?
Thanks for your patience... I know some people would be screaming in front of the monitor "THEY'RE THE SAME LAPTOP!"... I'm just a bit confused in this case -

There is no difference between the two besides the fact that the Compal has a better warranty standard.

Sager is an OEM for both Clevo and Compal.
You cannot really buy a Compal IFL90 unless it has an OEM brand on it. Compal is not a brand and they do not sell to or service the end user. You would have to buy the Sager NP2090 or PowerPro J 10:15 or some other OEM branded Compal IFL90 and you would then look to the OEM for Support and Warranty.
Some differences between the Sager NP2090 and PowerPro J 10:15:
1. Sager NP2090 comes with a 1 Year Warranty (that you can upgrade to 3 Years) w/3 Day Shipping paid both ways. The PowerPro J 10:15 comes with a 3 Year Warranty w/Next Business Day Air Shipping paid both ways standard. This would mean 2 days in transit for the PowerPro, or up to 6 days in transit for the Sager.
2. The Sager NP2090 comes with Lifetime Toll Free Tech Support during West Coast business hours, but if you buy either the PowerPro J 10:15 or the Sager NP2090 you get our Lifetime 24/7 DOMESTIC Toll Free Customer Service.
3. You can select 1x2GB memory on the PowerPro J 10:15 but not the Sager, and you can also get Corsair memory on the PowerPro J 10:15 but not the Sager.
4. You can get SATA II hard drives from the 120GB 7,200 RPM up to the 200GB 7,200 RPM drives on the PowerPro but not the Sager.
5. For most states we can upgrade your original PowerPro shipment from Ground to 2nd Day Air. Call us to see if your state qualifies. -
Can I call you if my province qualifies

Sorry Harry, we do not ship to Canada.
Try Xoticpc.com -
I know I think I'm gonna go with Xoticpc rather than euro because euro wont price match anymore
-
wow, thanks donald
if you shipped to Canada, I would've definitely get it from you guys -
Can somebody from powernotebooks, xoticpc tell me how does it look like with the warranty for either Sager NP2090 and PowerPro J 10:15 when the laptop is outside US?? I mean, can't u ship them to the service centre in Europe [if there are any there
]??
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Warranty repairs are only done at the US factory. In the unlikely event that you would have to return your computer for warranty repairs when outside the US, you would have to pay for the shipping/handling and insurance both ways.
-
great guide. answered a lot of questions for me.
should add in a few extra pictures though, not just the ones that the company gives out -
I think I am going to buy this laptop at xopticpc.com. Good prices, and seem to have better reviews than ibuypower.com (also very good prices).
This is my first "off-brand" pc, so I am a little weary. I usually buy big-name brands (Dell, Compaq, Toshiba, etc). I'm not worried about build-quality or anything (I can replace CPU, memory, HD, etc on most laptops), but there are lots of things I can't replace myself and afraid that I would be strainded without a proper warrantee. Seems like xotic covers labor for 3 years and parts for 1 year - not bad for an "off-brand".
Have anyone used xotic? How about ibuypower? What other places are good to buy a Compal/Sager NP2090/IFL90?
PS: Are there any 8600GT 256 MB GDDR3 MXMII cards to replace the included 512MB GDDR2 version? Speed is more important than the memory size for me (gaming).
PS: sagernotebooks.com doesn't even have BIOS updates - are the other 3rd party sites with the BIOS updates reliable? Will the dissapear after a while?
