    Screw position maybe
    Thickness?
If the driver doesn't get detected, that'll be your bigness problem, will lack brighness controls without the driver.

Does anyone know if either the newest XMG BIOS or the Illegear 1.06 one would work on the OP 15 LP1 (GTX 1050)? I see the model referred to as the GK5CN5Z here but GK5CN4Z elsewhere.

Generally FHD laptop screens only use a cheaper 2 lane EDP cable, whilst higher resolutions require 4 lanes, so its very likely that UHD panel will not work.

Click on the volume icon and then click tab that has the name of the current output device, it should show a list of available playback devices

TF BIOSes is generally locked to different CPU + GPU combos so if those match they SHOULD work in theory.

Keyword here being "should". I haven't poked around with the BIOS in a while myself though. To be on the safe side just stick with the one for your exact GK5CNxx sub-model unless someone here has experience of it working.

One week later with the artic silver 5 temps are good on cores 2-5 with 84 C being the max, but cores 0 and 1 for some reason get way hotter and reach 92 C. I got no idea how to solve this problem, but I'm guessing my heatsink contact points for the CPU are the reason, as I remember it looking heavily scratched when I cleaned it. Should have opened it up sooner and asked for a replacement but oh well. The sharp edges finally managed to cut me for the first time as well yesterday. Kind of want to sell it and get a 1070 or 2060 laptop instead now.

Watch all of Bob of all Trades videos on Youtube, and Own or Disown. Those two guys have helped a ton.

The settings I use on my device might vary in performance on yours, keep that in mind. I'm still tinkering with mine everyday with new drivers, old drivers, does this setting work better when I'm using this program in conjunction with this other program, ect.

All I can say is, I have no buyers remorse with this device and the support here has been phenomenal, to say the least.

    Hi all,
I tried the gaming center 2.0 on my PCS GK5CN5Z. My tests with cinebench 20 gave me excellent results, much better than the PCS 1.0 gaming center (same TDP settings, undervolting, etc.).
    With PCS GC 1.0: cb = 2739
    With GC 2.0: cb = 3089
    ---------------------------------------
    My settings:
    Max TDP: 85W
    Short TDP: 100W
    CPU Core: -130 mV
    CPU Cache: -130 mv
Gaming Center settings: Fan Settings = Game Mode, Performance Mode = Game Mode.
Using Cooler Master MasterGel Maker (diamond)
    ---------------------------------------
    My laptop:
    PCS RECOIL II (TONGFANG GK5CN5Z)
    CPU: i7-8750H
    GPU: GTX 1050 Ti
RAM: 32 GB Kingstone HyperX, 2666 MHz
    SSD: 2 x 1 TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus
    POWER SUPPLY: 150W
    BIOS: PCS n.1.07 (11/08/2018)
    EC: 1.35.09
    OS: WINDOWS 10 PRO

Good to know, I figured maybe there was a reason why none of the re-sellers were offering 4K screens, but maybe its just that Tongfang do not supply it.

Not strictly true, I have seen 30pin 120hz FHD panels out there.

EDIT: nvm, looks like 30 pin 120hz screens are quite common for 15.6" laptops but not 17.3"

Problem is that I only have speakers there. Can you tell me which version of realtek driver you are using ? I deleted realtek and kept windows audio drivers. It shows both speakers and headphone. Still it would be better if i could do this while using the realtek drivers.

I'm not sure which model you are using, but I use the mech 15-G2R (rtx) drivers from eluktronics. If you have the 1060 version then it'd be the mech-15 G2.

So the weird thing with my CPU voltages that happened at least twice now (mentioned below) has happened again... TSBench on a 64m run would hit 95c in 6 seconds with fans on turbo, whereas normally it gets to 75c.So I've once again tried resetting bios, but temps were still high (wondering whether previous time was just luck), then made a small undervolt change (just moved the slider once to get a new values) clicked apply and bam temps back to normal again.
I am confused about what exactly keeps intermittently messing with my voltages, but the only apps on the laptop that I expect to do this are Gaming Centre and Throttlestop.. I am starting to wonder whether GC can sometimes interfere with TS undervolt in some way...

Thanks for the update, I was wondering how the your Artic 5 was going to work out. I think your temp jump could be due to "pumping out". Happened to me and another guy on here. Our temps were great first day but 2 days later it went over 90. I used Artic Mx4 and he used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaught, both are watery. He said he switched to IC diamond which is quite thicc and it stopped the pumping out. I have to try GC Extreme or IC diamond next but they are pricy on amazon.ca and no local shops carry them.

It might be Intel XTU messing with the voltages after a few reboots as that is part of the gaming center. If you open task manager and scroll down you will see XTU running. I have not had that issue yet but i just got this 15+ a couple days ago. I believe there is a version of control center with no XTU embedded so you might want to install that version.

Can I ask someone to run ThrottleStop TS Bench or Cinebench on battery and report your power usage in watts for CPU? I have my system setup to use 35 watts for the CPU on battery and want to make sure that is in line with stock settings. Does anyone know what is a safe power draw in watts for CPU using battery power?

    ******

Just ran the Cinebench R20 bench for the 2nd time on my OP-LP2 (core i7-8750H CPU), with "Priority" set to "Real time" (using Process Explorer 64-bit). Score: 3134 (Multi-)

Both CPU vCORE and cache undervolted to -125 mV in ThrottleStop. No core or thread exceeded 82°C during the run.

    I mean, it just *crushes* the 12C/24T Xeon X5650 @ 2.66 GHz (score: 2705)

Again, profuse kudos to "unclewebb", the creator of Throttlestop.

It is certainly possible. Open up the ThrottleStop FIVR window and have a look at the monitoring table at the top right. This table shows the offset voltages that the CPU is using in real time. If this table is showing different voltages compared to what you are requesting then some other program on your computer must be interfering with things. Keep an eye on this and see if you can find out what is going on.

Reading stuff like that puts a big smile on my face and keeps me motivated. Instead of an Intel Inside sticker, maybe I need to create some, Powered by TS stickers. :D

I repasted with Artix MX4, temps were 80ish for the firs few days, then 90ish thermal throttling even with a -0.140v undervolt via Throttlestop.

What I'm doing now is to use throttlestop and limit the max 6 core clock speed to 3.7ghz. Now my temps are 88ish playing Apex Legends.

Gonna have to change my thermal paste later on as a long term solution though.

Is anyone else's charger kind of loose? When I move the laptop around a bit while lying in bed I can see the charger start poking out a bit even though its still charging. Should this be something I should be concerned enough to return it? This is for the OP 15+.

I reduced IccMax to 33.75 A for battery which keeps the CPU power usage around 27 W. Clock speed ends up at 2.9 GHz when all cores are loaded down.

Need help with a keyboard question:

Im in the UK and have two resellers in mind: CyberPower and PC Specialists. CyberPower can actually get the same specs AND a free controller for less than PC Specialists but they only have a US keyboard.

My question is that can I replace the different key caps with the UK ones? For this to work, the left shift and enter key would have to have a 2nd button used. Could someone check that it does? Everything else should be the same.

What you're really looking for is a UK Keyboard layout, some vendors have other keyboard layouts and can swap them, some might need to order from Tongfang depending on region. The whole keyboard frame that holds the key switches needs to come out, keycaps won't help if you need keyswitch placement moved around.

I originally repasted with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut as soon as I received my 15+ and was getting great thermals for a month or so, nothing above a mid 80 even under heavy load. Eventually I think the paste pumped out and my temps would rise up to 96 after a single CB R20 run and 10+ degrees between max core temps. I just repasted a second time with IC Diamond and so far I haven't seen over 81 with only 5 degrees between cores. I'll update again in a month or so when we can see if the more viscous paste prevents pumping out.

Just thought I'd add my experience in case anyone was curious about a repaste with IC Diamond.

So I ran into a few things new after installing Intel UHD 630 driver 24.20.100.6287 dated 8/15/2018..... I now have the Intel Graphics settings program back installed (it has been missing for quite some time now), and I just noticed I was having an error code EDP Ring all the time, instantly after clearing it in TS.

Changing the power profile from max performance to balanced removed the instant happenings, but it would show up in less than a minute.

Changing it to best battery removed the EDP Ring until i hit thermal throttling.

Any insight on what is going on here?
