Hi! Can somebody from MECH-17 owners dump and share their vBIOS (with Eluktroboost) for RTX 2060 (non Max-Q) ?

Might be due to any undervolting you're doing on your gfx/processor. Not seeing any issues here with same gfx.

Just went to power up my EVOO 17" today and it's dead. Can anyone tell me where to start if you've dealt with this problem on this laptop? I can do hardware work, no problem, just need to know where to go with it.

Try unplugging the battery connector from the motherboard and see if it will power on using only the AC adapter.

It could be a bad battery, or it could simply be a matter of resetting something.

With Dell/Alienware laptops we often see similar odd behavior. While the battery is disconnected, hold down the power button for 30 seconds before connecting the AC adapter. This discharges ESD and corrects weird behavior on a Dell and doing that might have some effect on your system.

Yes, if you are seeing a max of 80W power draw from a RTX 2060 notebook it is running at the full rated TGP and performing at max stock power spec.

No, the max TGP (we commonly call it TDP but that applies to CPU) for a RTX 2060 notebook GPU is 80W. Maybe @B0B can comment broadly about Eluktroboost without divulging any proprietary details, but I suspect that has more to do with holding boost clocks under load than it does pulling more than the power limit. For a RTX 2060 notebook GPU to deliver full and unmetered performance running a 0% core offset it would need at around 100W power limit. The silly low 80W power limit is what artificially caps the boost clocks. With a 100W power limit we would likely see it holding boost clocks between 1.8-2.0GHz depending on the GPU core temperature.

2060 can boost to 115W via Turbo mode/Eluktroboost, however some models don't have this feature due to different BIOS/firmware, even though they are the same barebone. You won't be able to monitor the correct GPU power draw with monitoring software

It’s not a Bios/firmware that enables this but a physical mod applied to the board. This is straight from the horses mouth.

If it were Bios related we’d have two different Bios releases for the same machine.

Probably a change in resistor value like the shunt mod I have done on my 1080 Ti and 2080 Ti desktop GPUs. The actual power draw is roughly 2.5x the power value shown in software. My 2080 Ti pulls around 900W under full load while overclocked to 2235MHz @1.125V. The vBIOS power limit is 2000W. It never drops below 2235MHz while running on chilled water.

Anyone playing Halo on this machine? I got it yesterday and played a while on my desktop. Pretty nice. I can finally delete my ancient Halo CE "portable" version that I hacked more than a decade and a half ago so it would run without my CD and Windows Live for Games or whatever they used to call that DRM pile of mess. I bet I have used that original game on at least 15 different machines since I purchased it back in 2001-2002.

I am going to give it a run on my MECH-15 today.

Hey guys. I have the recoil III from PCSpecialist (GK7CP7S) with a full 2070. Do you know if there's a way to unlock the tdp ? It's capped at 115, and I feel like there's room for way more (like it was on my previous full 1070). I tried with Mobile Pascal TDP Tweaker ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/mobile-pascal-tdp-tweaker-update-and-feedback-thread.806161/) but it doesnt completely detect the vbios. I assume it's a tongfang models particularity since it apparently works with clevo models. Did someone tried it ?

If anyone has the PCSpecialist or Eluktronics TongFang GK7CP7S could you attach the latest bios if possible? Maybe PCSpecialist has them available? My RTX 2070 is performing like garbage, even lower than a 2070 max q o_O without an overclock. My bios version is N1.03.

I believe this was a common issue with the earlier models of this build which was later resolved with a bios update, already tried different vbios's and that doesn't work. I really hope I can get this beast going, I didn't put liquid metal on it for sub par performance :D

I gotta say though this laptop really is something, the keyboard is fantastic, screen is good too and cooling is insane for it's thickness, destroy's the omen I had before for sure!

EDIT: Here is a userbenchmark if it helps - https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/26134901

Considering what it is, it certainly is an unusually impressive BGA turdbook at a low cost.

Finally found the issue, it was the bios which is what I expected tbh someone found the solution to this problem lol. You put the laptop to sleep and wake it to find full rtx 2070 performance.

Now my benchmarks are at rtx 2080 levels, the overclock is probably still applied: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/26151054

If this was a clevo this wouldn't be a problem, unfortunately still a BGA turdbook in my eyes but a decent one for sure :D

Does anyone have a video tutorial or a written one about how to open the 17" model? Specifically the GK7CP0S one, there's only videos for the 15" model and it seems that there's more than just unscrewing for the 17", I'm too clumsy to try to find out on my own :<

How much of the laptop do you want to open? I’m guessing you want to just open the back panel and get to the ram and ssd.

Also can you take a picture of the bottom of the laptop, just so I know it’s the same as mine.

    I’ll make a tutorial for you :)

Hey does anyone know what the tdp of the Eluktroboosted 2080 Max-q in the Mech 17 is?

It gets a whopping 27k graphics score in firestrike which is as high as an overclocked 150w 2080 Max-p.

Facking hell, I gotta get me one of those. Slap some liquid metal on it and put some super fast ram in it for max performance. Shame there isn't a seller here in the UK / Europe that sells it with an Eluktroboost-esqe feature

It's 115W max. It is impossible to score that high with just 115W 2080 Max Q. At most you are looking at 23-24k

I got a weird issue regarding keyboard backlight today. When I set it on in the BIOS and boot the system, the keyboard is all bugged. Like it automatically types and print keys without me doing anything, it doesn't respond to my key presses etc.. The issue is not present if I disable keyboard backlight in the BIOS.

Does anyone ever encountered such a weird problem ? Do you think it's hardware related ? It just happened today

Hey Everyone have a Eluk Mech-17 / GK7CP0S. Is there a way to use the OP3 or GK7CP0S Bios updates on these laptops and are they the same? Don't see anything on the Eluk site.

I was able to remove the power limiting on the 9750h after repasting using Conductonaut. Still not getting much better results in Firestrike Ultra than my Aorus X7 DT V7 1080. Mine does have the 2080 MQ.

Tried tweaking voltage and overclock but still doesn't seem much of an improvement which is what I was hoping for.

Also does anyone know where to get the 4-cell battery? I ordered one about 11 days ago from B2c-laptop-batteries but they still haven't shipped it or given me any update on when it might Ship out.

My Sound Blaster Connect application suddenly stopped working. All it shows is a blank screen. I think it stopped detecting my audio? Now I have pretty bad audio. I've tried different drivers of Realtek. The audio driver that came with my laptop, the latest available one, and an old one (version 8720 I think?) that was said to work with sound blaster. I've also tried uninstalling then reinstalling the sound blaster app from the microsoft store but still, it won't work. Anybody have a solution or experienced the same thing? Laptop is Mech 17-G1R from Eluktronics bought summer last year.

Here is an image of my sound blaster app: https://imgur.com/a/FICoRnQ

Probably a Windows 10 driver update screwed it up. It happened to me a couple of times. My Windoze Store app crap got broken again, so I just blew it off and left it that way. M$ UWP/DCH driver feces is absolutely terrible buggy garbage.

I think the older drivers and the Realtek (non-DCH) controls are much better than the fancy Creative GamerKid UWP crap. You can download it from my Google Drive if you want to try it out. >>LINK<<

Just be sure to use DDU audio driver removal tool or Revo Uninstaller to remove all of the registry junk and old files and folders and set your network access to airplane mode before you reboot after removing the current junk. That way Windoze 10 won't goof it up for you while you are installing the older driver. Once you install the older driver that isn't a DCH version, Windoze 10 should leave it alone because it's not DCH trash.

After installing and rebooting, open the Realtek HD Audio Manager from the tray icon. Click the little battery icon and make the circle at the top dark to disable power management. That will help stop pops and clicks associated with Windows trying to reduce power consumption.

Hello dear friendos, how are you doing? So, i'd like to know if its possible (and where) to purchase spare parts for these laptops, i got one from a reseller at my country exactly like these, but its a plastic chassis. My idea is to replace the chassis for the aluminium one. Thanks!

Edit 1: forgot to ask another thing: did anyone here managed to get the subwoofer working on any linux distro? I'm on ubuntu 20.04 and tried a lot of things, but no luck...

hello everyone i got my GK7CP0S a month ago :) I was using macbook for 5 years so im also newbie in windows environment. so i have some questions:

-while surfing on the net i found an information about i7-9750h cpu's should work 40-45C degrees on daily basis but mine is working between 50-55C degrees without any pressure (cpu 10%). So i installed intel extreme utility and decided to make undervolting but i found this laptop already came with -0,050v undervolt. Are these heat degrees normal for that cpu or i have issue to work on?

-Also, while using in the office mode, xtu always shows "power limit throttling: yes", when I press the turbo mode, it disappears. I watched some tutorials and changed my "turbo boost short power max: 35,000w to 95,000w" and "turbo boost short power max: 35,000w to 45,000w" but still plt: says yes, how can i solve?

Use ThrottleStop instead of XTU. http://forum.notebookreview.com/posts/11027456/ and set "Disable and lock turbo power limits" on the FIVR page. Max out the power limits on the TPL page. Set SpeedShift EPP to zero in the main window.
if you are using the generic audio drivers from Micro$lop (Windows Update or native Windoze 10 drivers) that will be broken. Using the audio driver provided by the laptop vendor will likely fix that for you.

I just uninstalled the driver, installed the manufacturer's, and now I'm out of audio ... (Windows audio indicator shows that there is audio (volume can be adjustable) but I have no sound, and the sound blaster connect remains the same way, I tested with headset, headset works

Well, that's weird. Sorry that is happening, Kimberly. If you're on Windoze 10 2004 that might have something to do with it since it is such a buggy piece of crap. I am not sure what to suggest other than if you're on the latest version of Windoze 10 you probably shouldn't be.

in english: it is not possible to detect your audio device.
    Check the connection

I am not sure what the issue might be. I have not experienced it. What version of Windows 10 are you running?

Maybe @B0B has run into this before and may have an idea.
