You are a lucky man! Well...maybe not all luck since you did order so early. I talked to Ron at Powernotebooks mid last week (July 25th) and when he told me that mine would not be shipping I was very surprised since I did order quite early too (June 4th). When I asked him how many were in the initial shipment, he thought that there was only 5-10 that they got in.

So... Xotic has them but PNB doesn't?? :( I hope I am wrong with that. It has gotten to the point where I don't even want to know when and where people ordered their notebooks. Grrrrrr.

I blame myself now, why did I limit my choices to Xotic and PNB when I should have chosen the more aggressive company in Sager, I didnt know anything about Sager at the time but I wish I did.

Tip of the cap to Sager for making sure they satisfied their customers to the fullest

I ordered the Sager from Powernotebooks, it's nothing of whether or not if you bought from the resellers or Sager themselves; I chose PNB because of their superb ResellerRatings score and customer service, both of which Sager Notebooks could do some improvement in. IFL-90 shipments will come in, who knows how far behind it is, you might be surprised, it could come in very soon and the gap between IFL-90 and Sager could be a week. So don't fret, look at the optimistic point of view.

Yea but Sager has solid answers, Xotic and PNB do not, I'm sick of hearing the words maybe, could, and possibly

It wasn't like Sager had definite answers either; they just were fortunate enough to secure a shipment, or whatever happened so that they got their shipment, it might've just been luck as well on how Compal decided to ship to Sager on a cost-analysis scale.

I read this thread to see whats going on with the status of shipments and to keep abreast of whats actually happening and to cheer on those lucky ones. But the whining and "threats" are really getting downright irritating. if you think you have a better capability for mind reading than the reseller you are *****ing about, then find out on your own, in the meantime they're doing the best they can, if you have to cancel do it, but by god stop whining about it.

    heh, no offense.

i think that when we "pre-ordered" we expected delays..so we get them till now for most. and when sager got more wsxgas, well, isnt that the luck of the draw? i just think thats how economics works unfortunately.

since there is nothing you can do besides wait, complaining has no use, although its very understandable. Your only option is just to wait or cancel, maybe good news is to come, but complaining is not a solution to this problem, since there was no initial ETA guarrantee.

Right now I'm so friggin pissed. I was absolutely ready to purchase the Sager, had it all configured, in the cart and everything, and then I talked to some people here about how useful the 3 year complete care warranty was on the PowerPro/Xotic PC Force whatever-numbers, and I switched to that. (WSXGA+ screen, ordered July 13th). Warranties are great and all, but I would have really liked that damn computer, and it seems that people that ordered the Sager after I did are about to get their computers :( Damn me for waffling. I always get effed over like this. I'm one of the lucky ones who can wait until mid September, but now its sort of looking like that may even be out of reach...

Actually it was not mere luck of the draw all though many people might think so. Sager went outside the normal channels and found other sources of getting more WSXGA screens

But here's to good news from Donald and Justin on Monday!

Oh man there is a Compal forum! This entire time I only knew about the Sager forum heh!

I ordered a PowerPro J 10:15, which is the IFL90. There was a little thing with that, I ended up getting an FL90 and it had a broken screen, all being taken care of though I am again waiting. You can see some pictures and stuff in the Sager forum, around somewhere heh.

Out normal channels simply means they used a different company to import. Usually resellers have deals or just like to stick with a certain importer/warehouse.

I ordered the Sager because I didn't need the warranty at the time, I suppose I can always upgrade later within the alloted time frame if I felt that I'm not the most careful with laptops in general; it also was cheaper due to the choice of having a warranty or not.

I think Sager came out just a tad bit cheaper, hence many people ordered it (at least that was my case). I'm extremely comfortable with fixing hardware issues, so warranties don't appeal to me much unless there are hardware failures.

Warranty is definitely better with the resellers compared to Sager, so in the long run...I would assume people who ordered the IFL90 through resellers get a better deal.

I ordered the Sager because I wanted both the 32 bit and 64 bit Vista CDs. I also bought the Sager because my dad knows the brand as he has a Sager laptop at work.

I didn't buy the Sager because I felt the price difference for the warranty was well deserved, in my case with my options it didn't seem to be that big.

I went for the Sager because my parents, who are helping pay for part of the price, deemed the better warranty unnecessary. Personally I thought it would be worth it to get the warranty, but I only had so much money... =\

You should realize after reading the first few posts to this thread that it is a complaint thread. I am not whining. I am frustrated and quite frankly, a little torqued about it.

Your right, all we can do is wait. And maybe this week will hold some good news. Your right, complaining is not a solution to a problem but unfortunately that is all we can do. If I could contact Compal and try and get to the root of the problem I would, but as you well know, that is not realistic. Lastly, I just pulled up my email for my original order. At the top of the email it states "Pre-order now, shipping starts mid-June". It is approaching two months for me. This is my first laptop, I guess I didn't realize that pre-orders could be off my a half a year or so (sarcasm).

I agree, i dont think anyone expects to wait that long for something that cost <1500$. Im not irritated with anyone, cause it lets me read the forums to pass time :p , but only if we could cause compal to give us a discount or something. But since that is probably outta the question, waiting or canceling are the only options. I cant wait to get mine.

Here's why I got the Sager and not the three year warranty: http://www.safeware.com/index.php

If you do a quote you'll find that it's cheaper. It also covers things like theft and accidental damage.

I'll be throwing pics up Friday and a review possibly.

I also reviewed my emails. They are similar to the following: shipping starts in two weeks, the end of the month, next week etc.. etc...

When I get emails like this I expect it was because the manufacturer gave the reseller a tracking number or some other communication indicating that the order was slotted for manufacturing or had been shipped.

I now realize that these communications ar empty of information and are WAGs intended to capture the order.

This strategy is a great disservice to the customers. This psuedo-libertarian stuff about buyer beware is BS. Yes, I can accept some slippage due to it being a new product. But I placed my order based on statements about when the laptop would likely be shipping and based on what kind of delay I could tolerate.

Now I have another round of emails saying beginning of August. Well in my calendar that means next week. The only kind of communication I want is a tracking number. Yet another round of "will be shipping week after next" emails won't work.

One way or the other, in a few days I will end my need to read the "waiting hoping wishing" thread.

mziol, that warranty is for theft and accidents. It does not cover the same set of circumstances as the Sager warranty. If your LCD stops working suddenly the Sager warranty will cover it whereas the Safeware warranty won't. If your LCD stops working because of an accident, the Sager warranty won't cover it whereas the Safeware warranty will. I'm not saying it is a bad insurance but it is not the same thing as the Sager warranty.

Since somebody is surely going to point out "how can they know whether it is an accident or not?", let me address that right away. Of course it is possible to lie about the circumstances of a failure to get an insurance company to cover something that they would not cover if they knew all the facts. That's called insurance fraud.

I'd assume you go on to your reseller's website and log in to your account. You should then be able to find out your order status.

This is how it works for me on xoticpc.
