Yeah, I changed my order too today over the phone with Donald. Changed my screen resolution and hard drive so I can have the same price ($5 difference) but with WSXGA+.![]()

Well, it all depends on when you ordered your Sager NP2090. They first went on sale in PNB about July 18, so from there you will have to estimate whether you're in the front of the line area or in the back area. In my case, I ordered pretty early so I stand a good chance of receiving a WSXGA+ in the next shipment without any delays.
-
I really wonder when the next shipment will come. It almost seems like the resellers don't care if we get it this week or in two weeks. It's outrageous that it would take this long to get a notebook. At least it could have the gddr3
. Looks like if it doesn't ship out next week I'm switching over to the g1, 1520 or I'll just look for a new one again. Serious bs.

I called powernotebooks today (I think Donald answered, I don't really remember, heh), and was told I would have my WSXGA+ by the 15th, and that there are 2 (or was it 3?) shipments coming that my order could be filled from.
For reference, I ordered on the 22nd of June, if I remember correctly (which as you can tell, may very well be a few days off as my memory isn't stellar)
Good news... I hope it stands true. If I don't get this in before I leave, I'll have to buy a MBP from my school (sounds like a tradgedy, lol). -

Let's put this into perspective.
1. Any comments to the effect that the resellers do not care are totally baseless. We care more than you could know, but there is NOTHING we can do about it, so we try to maintain a positive attitude and exhibit an understanding of reality. This is causing us an unbelievable amount of additional administrative time dealing with hundreds of emails and phone calls about shipping status, not to mention the large number of order changes. We patiently and politely give the best information we have at the time, and accept any change orders and cancellations that our customers desire.
2. The resellers can only arrange for when a customer gets shipped based on when the customer pays for their order. Consider how unfair it would be to put someone who has not paid in line ahead of someone who has paid and is willing to wait until the newly released model can ship. They Pre-ordered knowing it was not yet released and that only "best estimates" could be given about shipping dates. We understand the frustration that is instilled when those estimated ship dates move, but this is not a conspiracy, or a scam, or anything deceitful...it is just the reality of getting a brand new model with the latest technology available to market.
3. The resellers have no control over when the shipments come in, or how many come in with each shipment.
4. Everyone who has ordered so far has been told this is a Pre-order laptop and have been given the best estimate available at the time for when it could ship.
5. Every reseller is standing by to give a full refund to anyone who wants to cancel and buy another model. Those in line behind anyone who cancels will be quite pleased.
6. There is no reason for compensation for delays in the release of a new laptop model with the latest technology. Any claims for such are appropriate for response with some of the superlative adjectives used by many posters here.
The bottom line is your remedy is to cancel and buy something else if you cannot deal with the uncertainty of not knowing exactly when your order will ship. Continually requesting shipping updates and ranting about the lack of professionalism is not only lacking in any form of helpfulness, it exhibits a lack of understanding of how this industry can sometimes be frustrating by causing agonizing wait times. Every brand in the business has experienced this at one time or another.
I do not mean to be harsh, and I do totally understand how people have deadlines that need to be met. I would recommend communicating directly with your reseller and give them your schedule deadlines as opposed to your impatient "wants". Let them work with those deadlines the best way they can. We can then put "tripwires" in our calendars so that we can notify you in plenty of time if your deadline cannot be met. You can then cancel and select another option that will satisfy your needs. This will make this whole situation work far more efficiently for everyone involved than what is going on here.
We do care. We have been working as hard as we can to handle all the requests we receive politely and in a timely manner. Claiming otherwise is frankly not being fair to any of the resellers. If you are not happy...cancel and get out of the way of those who can and are willing to wait until we can get them built, burned in and tested. and finally shipped. -
And You are much appreciated Paladin/Justin/Donald etc.
-
Great information Donald, you told it how it is!
-
Truth is the reason I ordered from powernotebooks, and is why I am still on the waiting list, and not cancelled.
-
Great post by Donald, now hopefully that will shut up all those people who want compensation. If you can't stand the wait, cancel.
-
Officially joined the waiting list ;___;
-
welcome, and may your wait be short... but not shorter than mine!
-
today i canceled my ifl90 order, and switched to a dell
-
-
i ordered back in june, recently switched to a wxga (after the first shipment of wxga screens had already gone out). mostly canceled just due to the uncertainty
-
My dell started falling apart less than a year after ownership. In fact, it came from the factory with irregularities, but i refused to let any dell tech get his dirty fingers on it cause I know he'll make more problems than he would fix.
-
My WSXGA IFL90 from xotic just went into Phase 4 (burn in, testing, QA).
I was given a free upgrade to 2 day air so I should have it mid next week. I will write a full review to the best of my ability when I get everything set up. Thanks Justin/Donald -
yay, make a video and tons of pictures to allow me to drool........
-
BTW:
My previous post was a misspost. I mean to complain of that fact that Compal did not reply to my email and that THEY dont seem to be too worried about it all. I've actually had great service with PNB compared to a few of the other places I called when looking for a notebook. I do love the fast email response at any time of the day. -
Mine is in phase 4 as well! I will be recieving it sometime next week! I can't wait!
Lets hope Ups delivers it early. -
-
Dieing for info on the second shipment.....
Guys do you know if Compal sends out the same second shipment to all the stores, and if so by calling Compal theres a chance we could get more info? -
Given how little Compal seems to be telling its resellers, I doubt they'd tell anything to some random guy who just calls them.
-
lol right you are, but hey you never know
-
Just called Xoticpc asking on the sager 2090, I was told that my order placed on July 23 for a wxga should get to me by the 15th of August because they are getting in "many wxga's". I was also told that they have not been receiving wsxga 's yet(or not many because I know some already have them, but this is what I was told) so that those laptops should be expected around mid-late august.
I was also told to call back next friday to get a better estimate after they received the 2nd shipment next week, so the 2nd shipment is expected. -
-
So does what applies with the Sager translate over to the reseller's rebrand (aka PowerPro/ or the Force Compal IFL-90 rebrand from Xotic)?
-
Anyone with an early pre-order hear from PowerNotebooks? Heard some promising news from Ron last Friday, but nothing since then. I suppose they're prob'ly buried under requests for info...
-
IFL-90s direct from Compal take another route, I'm assuming either directly from Compal or from another distributor, like Bizcom.
Sagers and IFLs are born in the same place, but lead much different paths. -
-
The Sager NP2090 folks got good news regarding WSXGA+s and people who have ordered before July 13th, but I'm not sure about the IFL-90, that's still in the air.
-
What was the good news?
-
Nevermind, I just read it, and it just made my day
-
-
I just got an email back from Donald, he told me that they can upgrade my shipping to 3 day and I can have my notebook by August 3rd.
Looks like I'll have it in time for college. I'll post pictures/reviews/whatever people want me to about the laptop when I get it (I'm sure there will be lots of other reviews though before me).
-
Is that also the case for xoticpc.com?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
It would be best to ask Justin at xoticpc.com...
-
I just send them an email. Hope its the same case haha
-
YAY xoticpc.com will be shipping with the same time as PNB. w00t
-
Justin@XoticPC Company Representative
Yes it is the same with us also. We will be shipping exactly as Donald has posted
-
I am becoming crazed awaiting the arrival of this mysterious IFL90. I wasn't even sure I wanted one, but I keep checking and reading the desperate appeals on the forums and I am now infected with this hysteria. I can not, will not even consider any other laptop make or model. I must have the IFL90 or die.
Ingenious marketing I must say ... wait Sony, Nintendo, Mattel have been doing this for years every Christmas. -
So in hindsight we were better off ordering Sager?
Just read and it seems the answer is yes, That just figures its actually extremely infuriating considering I really didnt know what the difference was at the time. I would die for one of those lol it sucks too cuz people who ordered way after me are gunna get theres way before me -
i guess so. but only if you were ordering wsxga+.
-
I did, but I dont get how that works out shouldnt all companys/distrubtors be getting the same number of WSXGA screens, something here seems unfair
-
i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 22 days gone and hopefully not much more coming
-
-
well on the bright side, those of us still waiting will have reviews to browse and distract us for a while from the wait.
