the discount is in fact less then you get from the finnish site, if you visit www.peliplaneetta.fi there should be a discount picture there but now I cant see it, -100€+ a bag, can't find the actual link now but it's a offer ending 31.8
-
But thats 6625 only, were talking bout Nox/Mythos here
-
No it's not, if I remember right it was nearly every zepto computer...
-
Its on all the old models (6xxx and 3xxx), none on the new models. Just checked on zepto site
-
mind link that page? because I am 100% certain it was on Nox before, even when I was searching for some discount for my nox buy I got that link of a support guy,
the page when you can read about the discount is a page with almost just text, saying you'll get 100e discount and a bag if writing down peliplaneetta as special offer when ordering -
I checked on zepto official site.

Did anyone find out who makes it? (We know it is not Inventec, but that leaves a long list of other possibilities).
John -
I was looking forward to my laptop being shipped tomorrow, but upon contacting them I found that my laptop had "failed the test" as there's a problem with the Turbo Memory Module. Waiting for them to get back to me as to the delay, but anyone know what this means?
-
I've read about a whole lot of problems with shipped Nox machines, and the turbo memory module was one of the one. Actually I think you are lucky that it failed, this just means they will doublecheck it before shipping it, unlike some others who has received it - and most possibly, have to ship it back (depending on the problem).

Is the problem the modules themselves, the drivers or the Turbo Memory support in the BIOS? I suspect the first is the least likely cause.
John -
A few guys had problems with the graphics card, thought it might be defective, but it turned out only to be a driver issue, luckily. Some reports of scratching speakers and a case where one of the speakers doesn't work, at all. Zepto has released a (new?) driver for turbo memory module, so it should be working properly.
Another guy had a problem with a non-working keyboard, but removing and inserting the RAM block seemed to help.
I really hope those scratchy speakers are defective, as I had hoped they would be good. Someone is actually saying, that they are worse than on his old Zepto laptop. -
I did a test of the speakers, volume at 100% and no scrathing or anything
The only problem is that there's no bass at all, which is strange when the manual says it has a "bass speaker" underneath.
-
Laptop speakers are generally not very good, so one should never expect them to be good on any laptop, but rather be very happy if they actually are good.
-
lol my nox resp. the speaker are scratching/whimping in songs with a high frequency and the whimping resonates!
The quality of the speaker is moderate/bad!
No bass, nothing. -
-
I'm using the driver which is delivered by Zepto.
Can I change something to improve the sound?
For me it's clear that the speakers should work without problems "out of the box". Without manipulating something. -

Do you have the Realtek Audio Manager? (Probably under Control Panel).
If so, try changing the equalisation options.
John -
forrestde: have you contacted the german or dnish zepto support about the fan and speaker issue yet? Id be intrested in what they have to say.
-
@IARI
I wrote a mail to Zepto Germany but just regarding the fan, they said that they know the problem and are working on it. -
The fan problem i believe there is nothing to do about except complain and hope Zepto fixes it in a future BIOS.
The scratching speaker is worse.
My left speaker is ok, but the right one scratches. You can easily test your speakers in the Realtek HD Audio Manager. Play the Auto Test. -
the whole thing about having to wait ages, then ****ed speakers and helicopter-fan makes me pretty sad ... could you write something positive about the Nox? maybe even outstanding? im starting to wonder why i actually waited that long and ordered the nox even before ive seen it -.-
was mich auch ankotzt ist warum auch notebookcheck.com noch immer kein verdammter test steht -.- -
Well, to start off the hardware you get to the price is outstanding over other laptop brands
-
Check out my short review at my local forums of the Nox http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=2076801
-
the speaker problems aren't very pleasant to hear about..considering that i'm also intending to order the nox from my local dealer, the same one kedira got from. We are both from Singapore
-
I just recieved my Zepto Nox this previous Friday. So far, most of my impressions are good. I figured I'd drop in and give my first impressions. (USA Based)
Build Quality
The laptop is sturdy, sleek, and pretty to look at. It is covered with a matte finish which makes the case feel soft to the touch. It is yet to be seen whether wear and tear has a big effect on the look of the finish. The chassis has very little flex anywhere (if it does, I haven't found it) and the monitor hinges are just right - neither loose enough to wobble nor too tight. The keyboard itself does have some flex however, when pushing on a horizontally centered key - not enough to be troublesome but worth mentioning. The mousepad is sleek and functional, being placed out of the way of my typing fingers. The screen is bright and crystal clear - zero pixel defects as of yet. Only ports I've used on the laptop so far have been USBs, but they are as sturdy as I could ask for. The power cord has a lengthy reach allowing me at least 10' or so, and the brick is small and unintrusive.
Hardware Setup/Drivers
One issue to note, is that I ordered my Zepto with 2 GB of Intel Turbo Memory but was forced to recieve my laptop without. The customer service team informed me that the BIOS they were currently running did not properly support the memory and thus I had the choice to wait for them to try and resolve the issue or ship me the computer without the Turbo Memory and mail the memory to me at a later date. I chose the latter. However, when the Turbo Memory becomes available, I will have the choice to install it myself or send my computer back into Zepto via FedEx Express with all shipping paid by Zepto (4 day round trip) to have it properly installed. Works for me.
Received my computer with a 9600M GT, and the first few games I tried to play crashed immediately. I updated the drivers using one on laptopvideo2go.com, and that resolved my crashing issue. Still, if you order a Nox, make sure to upgrade the drivers. Some of the other drivers were either not installed, but the computer came with a Drivers disc, so installing the Intel Wireless Pro Driver and Fingerprint Scanner Driver was straightforward. No bloatware was included in my install of Vista 64bit (unless you count Office 2007 Trial bloatware, which I promptly uninstalled).
Performance and Heat
While I can't quote any specific numbers as of yet, I can say that I had the laptop sitting on bare skin while playing Assassin's Creed at relatively high settings for hours and it got warm but never uncomfortable. The fan is relatively powerful, and while I don't find it to be too loud (especially after my last computer), some might. I can say that it has never gotten loud enough to hear when I have any audio coming from the speakers. It does have the downside of running relatively often at the benefit of keeping the computer running cool.
Only game I've ran on here so far has been Assassin's Creed and I'm able to run it at native resolution (1680x1050) with medium-high settings - something I'm relatively pleased with. I'll have to wait to see how much it can do in the future, but it seems sufficient to be able to play upcoming games. Aside from gaming, the computer runs perfectly smoothly (although this might entirely depend on the setup you decide on).
Overall Impression
I'm estatic with my purchase. It plays games much better than my old computer, has a larger workspace, runs cooler than my girlfriend's macbook, had no bloatware, and generally seems like a solid bragworthy computer. I'd also like to note that the customer service I received was superb - I could count on the Zepto team answering any email I sent them within 10 minutes during business hours (one associate even corresponded with me at midnight and was still keeping <5 minute response times). If anything, I find this to be a huge perk in and of itself. Would reccomend the laptop to others.
Edit: About the speakers, they seem to be fine to me - no tone loss. They are a little on the quiet side, though. Was able to watch some online tv episodes without a problem but background noise might make it a bit more difficult to hear everything clearly. -
I have to say that Zepto is quite unique as they dont install any bloatware. My sister just bought a toshiba, and man was there bloatware (10+ apps installed)
-
Thanks for the small review matcg, I had almost lost interest for the Nox due to all the problems people seem to be having. You sort of changed my mind
-
matcg - can you post something on GPU temps under full load?
cheers -
Thank you so much Matcg. Great review.
Zepto does indeed have good customer service. Twice I have mailed them asking to change the configuration I originally ordered.
First from 1200x800 to 1680-1050. And then From 2GB ram to 4GB.
They answered fast the first time as well, but I think they scored some kind off record last time. I sent the mail 13.23. They answered 13.26. Apparently not some kinda automatic reply either. -
GPU seems to be reaching a max of 72 degrees celsius. Upon quitting it came down to 55 in about 2 minutes or so.
Idle dances between 54 and 58 degrees celsius -
thanks Matcg
-
Probably important to note that those measurements were taken during the heat of midday in a stuffy apartment. Now it's cool/evening and the GPU is maxxing out at 64, but still idle dancing between 54 and 58.
-
MatCG:
Im having trouble running my games on my Nox. Could you please point me in the right direction to what driver I should download?
Thanks! -
Just get the new temporary 175.16 driver on the Zepto site.
-
Or get a beta driver from laptopvideo2go.com (forums)
-
Just get the most recent one off laptopvideo2go. Should be 177.92 if I'm not mistaken, just choose the proper OS and 32 or 64 bit.
Then follow the tutorial in the following: XP - Vista -
Zepto in Denmark is running a campain on the NOX this weekend. You can get a 128GB SSD disk instead of the SATA disk for a quite ok price.
-
-
ahh right. sorry. Was browsing the NOX specifications when the campaign popped up on the screen. then it's not really a great price
-
meshcomputers have started reselling the Nox, Mythos and Nexus models to the UK. You can configure them as you want and they seem to work out cheaper
has anyone else ordered the from them? -
do they sell in UK only? There was a finnish phone number at the top and if I bought a zepto there it would be 130€ cheaper (Mythos with 1680x1050)
-
Hi!
Does anyone know if the 128 GB SSD that zepto offers to ship with the Nox is a MLC or SLC, according to "The new SSD Thread" one should stay away from ocz MLC drives.
Also, does the 9 cell battery stick out in the back like with the old zepto models larger batteries? And does anyone know if there is a DVI out port? Maybe on the dockingstation? -
Docking station on machines bought after 15 september
9cell sticks out 1,5cm
No idea about that DVI port, check the images
No ide on the SSD either
