A FZ G1 is headed my way from an ongoing trade situation.

I currently am looking for simple ideas for a kickstand.
I dont want anything that makes it thicker unless someone gives me a smoking deal on an Ikey keyboard.

I found tempered glass screen protectors for the G1.
    Ordered two.
$9.40 with free ship. It's worth a try compared to the $60 for a Panasonic protector.
I have one on my Galaxy S5 and really like it.
    www.xtreme----guard
Google for coupon to save a lot
    -------------------------------------------
I swapped out the Intel 6235n wifi for a Intel 7260ac.
Definate improvement. Although I have not managed to get bluetooth working. I did read somewhere that maybe the pin mod would work to enable BT.
    ------------------------------------------
I tried win 10 on it. It ran ok, but I could not calibrate the digitizer properly, so I went back to win7.
Maybe win 10 would be ok if I did an upgrade install from win 7 instead of a clean install.
    -------------------------------------------------
I bought a smart card reader for it.
I have no need for the smart card, but it is usb, so maybe I can mod in something with that usb port.
    --------------------------------------------
I did buy a used 9 cell extended battery for it.
    FZ-VZSU84U
Battery bar estimates over 12 hours runtime under standard power settings.
Panasonic sent me a brand new replacement for the original recall battery too.

Don't bother with the tempered screen protectors I linked.

They are slightly too large and shatter when you attempt to install them.

    Ugh....

I got bluetooth working. I put a 6235 card in the wwan slot. I do have a full height bluetooth only card coming. I used the wwan antennas for now.
I was having a lot of trouble making it work. Then I put the wwan card back in and enabled it.....oops!

    Heres a photo

Eventually, I will add a micro usb flash drive to one of those inward ports.
I do have room to add a sd card reader beside the outward facing ports.

One thing to test out for when I did something simular to another unit I have is I went the dual micro SD card route to add space because at the time larger SSD's were super expensive. If I used at least two of the three usb ports made onto the computer the SD cards would disappear until a reboot. Or would show up that they needed to be formatted. Only fixed by a reboot. Not sure if the circuit was overloaded or what the deal was. Only tested under windows 7.

One on a T7, then later on a T8. I skipped the hub and went directly to a dual micro SD card . I later put the same card on my Alienware M11x R1. It has the same issue with using two or more of the factory usb ports.

    Ikey keyboard/dock

I would like to use better software for the touchpad.
Right now it is the generic MS mouse driver.
I would like real touchpad software driver.
Any ideas on what will work?
I tried Glidepoint and it does not work.

you get on the boat for the recall on these batteries for fz-g1? check to see if yours is one here: http://business.panasonic.com/support-computerstablets-productrecalls
i have a fleet of these and there was a battery issue that they would overheat and "catch fire" panasonic had bat file they sent out ( on website or i can send if needed)that would alter the device only to charge to 80% until they could ship the replacement batteries for free

    Thanks,
I did get the battery exchanged.
I also grabbed a used 9 cell extended battery..

I removed win 7 64 bit and reloaded via recovery disk win 7 32 bit..
Everything including the touchpad seems much better.

A CF-C2 webcam fits right in. The BIOS recognizes it, but the software says it is disabled.
I am guessing the wiring has a minor difference. Probably the pin that needs to be grounded to enable the camera.
Without a schematic or the proper camera to trace the wiring, I am stuck.
I don't really care about the webcam. I really want the rear camera. So far, I have not found one or any alternative.

I have a nice selection of Kapton from 1/4" to 2" wide.
The Kapton prevents any possible shorts to the solid state drive. Better safe than sorry.
The module is held securely with VHB tape.

    Thanks,

I appreciate the pictures of the kit though, wasn't sure if both could be used at once (with Dedicated GPS). This serial module is so big there is no way they could fit both together.

My 2nd keyboard came today. First one (LB model) is non backlit and no usb port. This one (C1 model) has those options.
Says Glidepoint right on touchpad of this Ikey keyboard.
It gets slightly confused if I type too fast though. Odd.

Wonder if Alps Glidepoint touchpad software would be better?

    Internals of Ikey keyboard.
I swapped the latch plates, between my lighted and non lighted.
The non lighted is a later version and had the improved latch.

Did some major G1 work today and have some FYI.

Mk2 and later use the newer tiny antenna connectors. So if you attempt any swaps, you need to change all of the antennas too.
This means a complete teardown to swap in proper antennas and cables. Figure a couple hours time.
    It is very tedious work.

Mk2 and mk3 use a different cpu heat sink assembly.

Mk2 and mk3 use M.2 (NGFF) WLAN and WWAN cards.
