Kaspersky is the best anti virus program. Spysweeper is the best antispyware/malware program.
Comodo is another good free firewall program. (zone alarm is good also)
http://www.download.com/Comodo-Firewall-Pro/3000-10435_4-10460704.html
I paid $24 for a 3 pack of webroot spysweeper with antivirus and free firewall. It works great for me.
Avira is a great free antivirus program that is very lite running.
http://www.download.com/Avira-AntiV...virus/3000-2239_4-10322935.html?tag=mncol;pop
1. hardware firewall(most are built into a wireless router)
2. Comodo or zonealarm free software firewall
3. Avira or AVG free anti virus or Kaspersky(only run 1 anti virus on a computer
4. you can run two spyware removers.
5. spy bot search and destroy and spysweeper(catch everything that way, they don't run at the same time). Ad-aware is free and good also

For me its WINXP firewall and Mailwasher Pro before I check my email; REGcleaner once a week to check for spyware crap; and that's it! That is all I have used for 7 years since Norton jacked up and SLOWED down my system. I save all files to a thumb drive so IF I have to, re-image and done. But, in the last seven years, I have not had to do that from a virus or hack. I have had to re-image several times because of my own stupidity or because of driver conflicts, but that's it. Like TB though, I don't go to those no-no sites either. They can infect you faster than the red-light district in Viet Nam!!
-
Seller never sent it.
-
AGREED, I've given up on anti virus entirely... My TB and my new desktop I just built BOTH have NO anti-virus... the only machine I have anti-virus on in the whole house is my server.
Spyware kills me every now and then when I get careless and click on links I KNOW I shouldn't, but that's about it
And obviously my network is good because I'm running a $600 VPN firewall router. I never use Windows/Mac firewall either -
Not a bad deal for this one, kinda confusing listing tho, he has two different model numbers in it....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=250356648047 -
Have to see where the bidding ends. Doubt if it will stay there. If it did, it would be a great deal.
-
And surpisingly he looks like a legit seller even though he doesn't have much feedback. Could be a good deal.
-
The guy will yank it if it comes down to the last minutes and he's not high enough... If he doesn't it's a scam.... They say they know how much it's worth....
Stiffnecked... Glad to see you around... It's been a while! -
It's good to be back. It'll be interesting to see what happens with this CF-30 auction. I looked at the selllers completed auctions and I'm sure he knows what it's worth. I'd bid but then I'd have to sell something.
-
He's got a $1200 reserve on it, and except for the touch screen its a basic model regardless of which model number you use. They seem to be bringing about $1600 +/-.
CAP -
It says theres a reserve in the description, however it does not show a "reserve not met" blue text by the current bid price like normal, so I dont think there is really a reserve on it unless its already met at the 800 some dollars its at
-
Yes you are correct, No reserve
But It will go for more than $1200
Alex -
There is a reserve listed in the fine print, but you guys are right, doesn't show up on top. I just looked again, and he lists a Verizon EVDO card although his model numbers don't show wireless ready or WWAN. This gets smellier by the minute.
CAP -
I don't have it in me to tell a friend of mine he was ripped off paying $6000 for a new CF-30. He has tons of money but even if you are well off you don't want to pay two times the price. His is a basic model with 80GB hard drive and touchscreen. I'm sure he bought the extended care from panasonic. His toughbooks are trailer queens. They never leave the desk. He gave me his last one which sat on his desk always on with no screen saver. He burned out the screen of course.
-
It sold for basically like 1k plus shipping, I guess thats not too bad of a deal, most of the ones I see with BIN for like 1300 are non-touch. Im still pretty sketchy giving a private seller a thousand dollars tho
-
Not a bad deal for a CF-29...
http://cgi.ebay.com/Panasonic-Tough...4&_trkparms=66:3|65:1|39:1|240:1318:rolleyes: -
Yes, and its a Canadian Seller in Canadian dollars
Now whats $699 Canadian converted to US dollars these days
Its almost free
Alex -
I've bought two from this guy... There is also an import duty for coming into the US that I had to pay. I think I paid $425 for a 1.3 and $475 for a 1.4 a while back. For some reason he showed the sales price as $2000 on the customs form! Maybe he was hoping they'd get lost!? Neither of them had COAs... they were torn off. I missed the fine print that they were also missing their PCMCIA doors so I still need to order them from Heartland.
-
$562.92 - A little bit much for that... its just 1XRTT Sprint as well... No EVDO
-
Yeah I see better or equally equipped ones go for $450-500 so thats a little too high plus waiting on international shipping....
-
Same deal I picked up mine for. Same condition overall.
-
This seller has had several posted and sold, some even went for the initial price the same as this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220343651912&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012
Seems to be a fairly good deal as it is complete with both the hard drive and the optical drive. -
I would be all over these (there is more than one from the seller) IF they were touch screen... sigh...
-
Even if they weren't, I would but the seller states very specifically....
"We Do Not Ship Internationally; this Includes Canada and Mexico"

Not a bad deal, this is a little tougher screen to find..... -
Bah, see it's statements like that which force me to bid!!Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015

yeah right, Texan... go ahead and thanks for rubbing it in
I'm sure there are lots of non-US bidders drooling away and having green rashes
-
Sorry about that... what I was really getting at was that it is that you made me realize that it is a pretty good deal. Not exactly what I wanted (a touch screen), but it will work!
-
Heck... If you parted it out you make money!
-
Hey Texan, no apologies necessary... I was just kidding. So did you get the sucker? Darn good price for under $260. It'd be interesting to watch how much the next one closes (given all the attention it's getting here).
Regards,
Ron in SG -
The last one the seller had on eBay sold for $282! That should be a deal in anybody's book...
-
It seemed like a good deal to me too.
I'll let you know what condition it is in when UPS delivers it to me..
Bob -
I am retiring my CF-27 for my newer 29.
The 27 is on E-bay and works 100%.
If anyone is interested.

Well the good deal's sometimes are a nightmare
This seller had at least 2 cf-30's sold
Here is the feedback from one unsatisfied buyer
"Not Honest - Poor Commutation - Got refund through paypal - buyer beware!!!!! Buyer: 9335tim ( 135) 21-Jan-09 14:33
Panasonic Toughbook 30 CF30 Notebook CF-30CQQACBM"
BTW The seller had 100% + feedback when he was listing the cf-30's
Alex -
Interesting I wonder what the problem was....
-

Think how much fun you can have walking in to the local store and start scanning stuff on the shelves, between the comments you can make to other shoppers and attention from staff, you'd be minor celebrity- or something! -
Tomcat57,
That guy only had a 86.7 rating. Wow. Why would anyone bid on his stuff? -
Thats his rating now
As I Said
He had 100% positive rating when he listed and sold at least 2 cf-30's
Even a perfect rating can mean that you are taking chances on a high value item
I purchased my $3000 cf-30 from a seller with a history of selling toughbooks
Alex -
I only buy stuff from big time sellers. I'm a scaredycat. No pun intended.
His ratings went south pretty quick. -
I would buy this for myself. I don't need a touchscreen.

Tim,
That's not a bad price. I paid quite a bit less but the batteries and charger bring big bucks. Mine has a 20gb hard drive from the factory, but there are 30gb Hitachis on ebay every once in a while. If anyone buys one I've got XP restore disks. The display makes a great carputer out of your laptop
CAP
Coffey,
Buy it, we all know zippy is a straight guy, and you would for sure be getting a good computer and helping a friend to all of us here. -
Thats not a bad price,
At least you know that you will get what you pay for!
The Seller is James, One of the regular contributors on the forum
Alex -
I did take advantage of it, he's got 9 more left.
Zippy feel free to cherry pick me a goodun! -
I am not the one selling the wireless tablets. I have the CF-30's
I am thinking about buying one of the wireless tablets myself.
Also thank you Alex and Capt for speaking kind words about me

If any of you guys would like to have an external keyboard, this one is the trick! It has a long cord, is backlighted in red (adjustable), has a USB port on the front , a touchpad with both right and left buttons and best of all it is a USB hookup! I am typing on it right now and it is much like the rubber ones on a Toughbook, but with a bit more sensitivity. I liked it so much I am buying another. Give it a look!

I didn't see that one on ebay.....
-
The pics are dead in this one since the auction ended... But I found others on ebay.
Has anyone tried the BT Laser keyboards? There is a little box about the size of a pack of cigarettes that broadcasts a laser keyboard. I hear they are very sensitive and work well. I just wondered if anyone else had any experience with it...
Ala...
Talk about an indestructable and waterproof keyboard!
