Razer CS has been great to me. Maybe its the specific person that I have my email thread with, I am not sure if the thread goes to a generic team or some specific person. But they have been responsive and understanding. They do however hesitate to give out information of things that they are not sure of, like I asked the reason for shipping delays and they said that they were not sure, and will update me when they know. I think that they do know, but management or higher ups probably just want to keep problems on the DL, which is not their fault. I am sure they are getting swamped with ALL of us calling/emailing them, this also expains why they take a day or two to respond. With that sa finally started giving me some solid information about my order.

My email said: Even though the website says 5/9/2014 for my date, my order is set to be shipped on 5/16/2014 according to the CS team. This is probably because I ordered on the 4th of April, which is a bit later than most people.

I am in the same boat as well, I leave for an internship around the 19th and if the thing ships on the 16th.. not sure how likely i am to get it before I leave.

Just curious, but all of you people planning to cancel, what's your backup plan? Do you have laptops already? Would you jump to the ghost pro?

I can't imagine anyone already sold the laptop they use for actual work/study in anticipation of having any newly released device available, but maybe that's just the cautious side of me.

I'm a bit speechless right now, yesterday I got a reply from the Razer CS about my order of 256s on 3/17, and said" We will be getting another fulfillment sometime this week, ", however, this morning I get another reply because I want change my shipping method, the person said " I looked into our list of when your Razer Blade 256GB will be processed, and it looks like it will be fulfilled on May 9th." no more words......

If Razer does not fulfill my order by 9th May then I will cancel it because enough is enough. These constant lies from Razer CS and the near to non-existant communication from Razer about the status and issues of the Blade made me consider this. The Blade might be a fine device but if the company behind it does such a bad job then I can not really support such a company.

I actually sold mine hehe. Only because I was able to sell it for what I paid for it though. I had a really rare laptop. I can survive with my desktop for a month and my dell venue 8 pro is sufficient for work travels. My backup plan is a ghost pro 3k, but only if I have to wait till June. Also the new MBPr, if they squeeze at least an 860m in there and I don't have to pay 2600 for it.

Exactly. Was pretty excited about what the new Blade has under the hood, but I have gotten by without the 870m in the past and I will survive without it. After this experience, I have HUGE reservations about ever doing business with Razer again.

I had sold my previous laptop when I did (about a month ago) based on the original dates that Razer was stating for shipping. My thinking was that I could survive a few weeks without a laptop, and selling my old one also helped to pay for the Razer Blade. I have a desktop, Surface 2, and even my work device (Surface Pro 2) to tide me over until I get my Razer Blade. Just kinda bugs me that I had sold my old laptop based on the dates Razer provided for shipping, and now the 512GB has been delayed 3 times so far, possibly more if they don't make the May 9th date,

Not the end of the world I know, but frustrating to say the least.

Someone around here said the actual date of shipping is May 16th. So expect another delay.

That person had ordered theirs on April 4th, and the CS rep was talking about that person's order specifically, so that might be the reason the CS team had told him that. Ya, I'm being optimistic :)

There are always the first people to get a new device. If there is no first group, no one will ever buy it. Stop canceling. you know if you get something else and you see someone with this youll be like hey man. i wonder what it would have been like if i waited. the same way if you get this and say you should have got something else. make up your mind and stick with it. bruh

What these delays have done for me is cause me to have more time to consider the GS60 Pro. The larger HDs, SD slot and Displayport are tempting and are not going to suddenly appear on the RB2014.

The GS60 forums here have been very detailed about the GS60's +/-'s, which I'm reviewing now.

This is just how it is for early adopters. I used to get agitated but now I'm just used to it I guess. Backing 20+ Kickstarter projects and buying asus products will make you numb to launch delays. Hardly anything ever releases on time.

From what I've seen, Razer is a lot like Asus with product launches. They'll show you their concepts and early prototypes at CES and Computex, but you have to wait months and sometimes over a year too see it in the market(sometimes never with Asus). They also let you pre-order super early. This is different from companies like Apple, Lenovo and Acer because they usually only let you pre-order when it's about to ship from Taiwan or China. Apple even keeps their specs secret up until launch, which keeps expectations low and probably keeps previous model sales high. I'm not sure which is best for business, but I prefer the Asus/Razer mentality, so I know what to plan on getting ahead of time. Only problem is you have to wait.

At this point I'm canceling my preoder of the 512 GB model (just e-mailed them yesterday). I read dajohu's review thread, and while I think the Blade 14 seems like it's a very nice machine overall, it sounds like the screen is not quite as amazing as I'd hoped it would be. Because that was really the main attraction for me, the minor issues I read about the screen - coupled with the shipping on the 512 GB model constantly being pushed back - finally nudged me into canceling.

I think I'm just better off waiting until next year's revisions to see what happens, and the Blade Pro might be a better fit for me if they ever upgrade to a good, higher resolution screen and a card that's better than an 860m. I work in InDesign, but I'm also a gamer who would prefer the fastest card I can get - heh. I was really only going to use this while on vacation to keep up on work, so it wasn't exactly a super-high priority. I still think it sounds like a great machine overall, so I hope that anyone who sticks with their Blade 14 preoder enjoys their machine whenever they finally get theirs.

While the screen is a potential deal breaker for me, I'm going to wait for a few more reviews on it. I think everyone's expectations differ, so it's hard to gauge how good/bad the screen really is. While dajohu's review was very detailed, he did mention that he never had an IPS display. He also thought last year's screen was ok, which most did not. Some people have different tolerations and some are more impressed than others. Yes, IPS/PLS displays have a color pop over TN panels, they come with their own set of issues. I own many IPS displays and one PLS display. Almost all of them suffer from backlight bleed of some sort. My bigger displays suffer from PLS/IPS glow, which can be very frustrating to some people. And almost all of them start to have color distortions at 30°+ viewing angles. But even with all that, they are all good screens in my opinion.

From dajohu's pics, it seems like the vertical viewing angles are better than the horizontal ones. I really don't care about the horizontal because I don't care if the person next to me on the plane can watch my movie with me. Vertical is important though. Glossy is my preference because it gives a sharper image although I hope the brightness is high enough to show a decent image in an office environment. I'm really more interested in the existence of backlight bleed(if any). So many laptops are cursed with awful backlight bleed in corners of the screens - it's a total eyesore to have if you use your laptop at night a lot. As for colors - I'm not worried one bit. I own a colorimeter and plan to calibrate the display if the colors indeed suck. As long as the display is capable of calibrating to 98% of the color gamut, that can be fixed and changed to whatever you want. Now that ghosting issue scares me, but we'll see if anyone else notices. It could be a problem isolated to his unit. Even so, that's something I would rather judge for myself and return it if need be.

Edit: wow sorry, I rambled... If TLDR: don't judge the screen off of one review. IPS is not necessarily better with IGZO(yet).

Hey guys! I JUST got off the phone with Razer Customer Service about a half hour ago and I have some exciting news! I called regarding my 512GB 2014 Blade which I ordered on 3/16/14 and the recent slide in shipping date to 5/9. The representative said that he had just received a list of green lit order numbers for the 5/9 shipping date and was able to confirm that my 512 would DEFINITELY be shipping on that date. (Of course I chose free shipping and live in NY so I wont have it til mid-may) It has been confirmed that the first wave of 512's will be going out May 9th on a first pre-order first deliver basis.

That's great, thanks for sharing. I ordered my 512GB March 15th, so hopefully it's true. While we all remain sceptical at this point, it's nice to see these types of exchanges being shared.

Hey, no problemo - my job involves formatting manuscripts, so trust me, I have to read a whole lot of stuff longer than this every week. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the screen is terrible by any means and feel that the display sounds pretty good overall. It's just that if one review indicates two potential issues that might be a problem for me, I simply think it's best to cancel and wait for more reviews that can further clarify whether there really are any deal-breaking issues with the display (well, deal-breaking for me anyway).

I've certainly read all the threads pretty religiously (like every day pretty much), so I've also read what other people who got their systems have had to say about it. While I'm leaning towards waiting for a future revision, I may still get a 2014 model at some point, but I really, really need to see some more reviews first before I make any decisions. There's still a chance that I might get one after I do read more reviews, but I want to wait for now - that's all!

    WOAH... SOMETHING HAPPENED!

I just got a response from Razer:
I ordered from Razer on 4/26 after my Amazon order (3/23) kept getting pushed out. The estimated date for that is June 6. They've also charged my credit card (Razer, not amazon).

I assume this means they will actually ship it??? Should I cancel my Amazon order? Thoughts?

I would be thrilled to get it before 5/29!!! THERE IS HOPE! :D

Woo hoo! Got mine last night! Just thought I'd leave some impressions here before I head over to the other thread...(I had a 2013 that I sold when I ordered the 2014)

    Size:
It's the same size but it's definitely noticeably heavier. I noticed it a little but when my wife checked it out, her first comment was "Why is this one so heavy?" Not a game-changer, just something...

    Screen:
I'm seeing people go back/forth about the screen. It's good. It's great. My wife uses a Samsung ATIV9 and my brother has a Macbook Air. The screen is just as great when sitting next to their laptops. Anyone walking in would have thought us crazy for sitting on a couch together with our laptops sitting on our laps (while watching Agents of Shield) and staring at the exact same pictures on all screens.

    Games:
Only tried Diablo 3 ROS. Ran perfectly with everything turned up all the way at native resolution.

    Storage:
I run all my games off a 2TB external usb 3.0 drive plugged into a 3.0 hub which is then plugged in to the laptop. Used the same config with the 2013 and I never noticed and significant slow-downs. On that note, I don't play FPS so maybe there's a difference? My games of choice are Diablo, Starcraft, Elder Scrolls games. I also use a 6 TB NAS for all of my music/movies so I really don't have much I keep on my laptop.

    Scaling:
I had to make a note of this. I like using both an external monitor while at my desk, or the laptop itself when i move over to the couch. The scaling has to be manually changed everytime back and forth. Win 8.1 does a really good job of scaling but it's annoying to have to go into the settings every time I want to change locations.

    Bugs:
    Yea...Theres bugs...
NVIDIA graphics drivers are still buggy. Unplugging the external monitor has caused system errors twice now. 1 random nvidia error that booted me out of Diablo. The laptop also keeps dropping my wifi signal which i'm seeing is a problem with the wifi card Razer used.

Thanx for keepin me company here and good luck with your orders! In the end, it was worth the wait and I'm glad I didn't fold and go with the Ghost. I know other people have other situations so all I can say is good luck!

"Getting a Mac Pro and dealing with a worse graphics card"??? ? Not being a fanboy or anything, but the Mac Pro has just about the best AMD workstation graphics cards there are. The D700 (or whatever 700) is right up there with the R9 290X.

Perhaps. At any rate, I don't understand why people are cancelling their orders. Perhaps you guys forgot what happened to Apple's iMacs in late 2012... They delayed some orders up to Feb 2013. This clearly means there's overwhelming response to a good product. Just wait it out guys. And to the person who expects a GTX 860M in rMBP, good luck. This is Apple you're talking about, mate... Unless I'm very, very much mistaken.

I'm pretty sure he meant Macbook Pro. If you can easily jump from thin svelte portable gaming ultrabook to non-portable, heavy, desktop PC then I'd have to question your sanity, let alone your reasoning, haha.

That said, I love my Macbook Pro, but Mac gaming, and the GPU, just don't cut it outside of work.

LOL, true. The MacBook Pros are good machines, but for their price, they aren't the best out there. But the new Mac Pro is some tiny beast. For its diminutive size, it packs a lot of power. And apparently its cooling is great, too.

Anyway, back to the Blade. I ordered on 19 April; let's hope I get mine on the 8th (it states 8/5/2014 on my order status page). I really want to try X-Plane on it. And of course, attempt a hackintosh install.

^ 8/5/2014 ?? This is weird, as I too placed my order on 04/19. Initial shipping date was 05/09, but 2 days later was changed to 05/23 ... Still remains the same as of today :/

Hey guys, just chiming in here.
I ordered the 256GB and saw the same delay date on the order status too, then the removal of the ship date as many have already stated.

I sent an email yesterday, and they tell me May 9th is now the estimate. I think I saw another post with the same date recently.

Why a Friday =( added shipping time!

Just talked to RazerCS ... There are two waves of shipment for 512gb. 1st is on 05/16, 2nd is on 05/23
Now, here is something else. I was curious to find our about 870's architecture and asked whether it was still Kepler or Maxwell in 512gb models and was told that it is in fact Maxwell o_O

Considering they never made an 870m Maxwell, I would say they have no idea what they are talking about. Unless Nvidia snuck something in there without any press. The3rdm confirmed it was GK104(Kepler) when he got his

Has anyone had any success changing the shipping address or even the shipping preference with razer?

Call them and make sure you talk to an order specialist, not tech support

When did you order yours ? I ordered mine on the 19th, and the guy told me that I am right at the verge of being placed into wave one (05/16) or two (05/23). He couldn't say for sure to which I would be assigned to ... :[

At this point, I don't care what they say anymore. After waiting for them to release the 512gb, they won't even consider changing my shipping method even if I pay for it. I waited long enough after whoever's incompetency and they won't let me change my shipping method to next day so I can get it in a reasonable amount of time? pfft.
