Skryrim, Borderlands 2, Dead Island. How do they run at native resolution (if they even allow you to go that high res)? How do they run at 1080p and how does it look on the screen?

*From reading other's suggestions it appears I misunderstood. I thought since he didn't have any new games he wanted suggestions for older games. Hence my mention of 3 older games that I still play. Oh well.

Metro: Last Light is a pretty good test game. BF4 too. Tomb Raider is honestly one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen. The real testers will be the upcoming titles. The division and/or Watch Dogs.

Anyone else that shipped not get charged yet? If I don't get charged by Monday I'm closing my card account lol. Weird business practice to send out a 2k device and not charge for it yet.

X-Plane 10. It's just about the most intensive game/sim around. Although it's quite obscure. I suggest you jack up all the graphics options and set weather to stormy with a lot of clouds. I'm sure the Blade will grind to a halt, and then you can test temperatures. It's so intensive that even the Titan Z and R9 295X don't go above 25-30fps at max settings.

You can also try Metro 2033/Last Light, Crysis 3, BF4. All are relatively intensive and will work well for benchmarking.

Still no confirmation on that second SSD slot? Also, why is this discussion still in the Ship Date thread?

    @the3rdm,

If possible, please open it up and visually verify the number of drive slots, thanks! I hackintosh, so I need a second drive for OS X.

I tried to look for them in HWinfo (through a PM to the3rdm) but it was a dead end, I simply don't know if or where it will show up. I do not want to pester him anymore, he has gone out of his way to help already. I have some drives in my cart, and want to buy them but I NEED confirmation of that 2nd slot. Unfortunately its just a waiting game. I would donate to anyone willing to take 10 mins to open the back cover and see if the slot is there. I know there are many folks with 128GB that plan to upgrade right away anyway just like I am.

I logged in to check my order details and it now says in red text that my order will ship after 5/23. When I placed the order, my order invoice, order verification email after that, and the order status on the website said it would ship after 5/9.

    Also, where's the internal pics?

Sorry guys, I'm not willing to void the warranty. This is my first gaming laptop and the wife would kill me if that $300 I spent on a warranty was useless.

Ok, I downloaded the Castlevania 3 demo from Steam. 1600x900 on all max is around 20FPS. I bumped it down in resolution, turned motion blur to min, and shadows to min.

    Soars like a dream. Wow.

Also, when playing the game I noticed the fans.

When the game is playing a cut scene or coming back from alt-tab, the fans go full speed. I have the volume at about 20 and can hear it a little bit, but nothing more than your average macbook pro. HOWEVER, when I was playing at any other time, the fans were going, but it seemed like it was on "silent" mode. So strange. Turned the volume off to try and hear it. Very faint.

    Hopefully that helps!!!

BTW X-Plane 10 has a free trial of 10 mins, that resets every time you close it. it's about a 3GB download. Please try it... And congrats on your new Blade. Have fun with it.

I assume they have rubber at the bottom that rises the laptop to allow air flow in the fans. They didn't count that, if you want the real measure, turn it upside down and see how thin it is.

    Hello all!

I'm Blade, and I ordered my 256GB Razer Blade 2014 on March 17th. It still hasn't shipped as of right now as far as I can tell.
    What's going on.

    Severally disappointed.

You probably need to go into nvidia control panel and set that game to use 870M.. Sounds like you're running on the integrated graphics.

Assuming that it's the very corner of the SSD poking past the large ribbon cable, it almost has to be an 80mm version. That is good as all the 512's I've found are 80mm.

One thing I noted is that the heatsink looks like it covers more area (I'm guessing across more GPU RAM chips) and the heatsink itself looks to be a better design. The old one has the exposed half of the heatpipes, well, exposed. This design is completely encased. I'm guessing this leads to the weight increase having more metal in there, and also better cooling potential.

Those pics make me wanna take my 17" apart and repaste with AS5....I wonder if they added that aluminum looking cover to both 2014 models? Also noticed they covered [vrms?] with it as well. I wonder if there are thermal transfer pads under those, thermal paste, or nothing...

Keep the digi-pr0n coming guys. . . how's the screen? Can anyone actually USE it on 3800 x 1800 without scaling it to 1600 x 900? How does it look, how are the temps??

Chrome looks super tiny. I had to turn off the scaling for hig DPI to get it to look crisp...but then it loads chrome and it is small as heck. At least I can scale up the font size by default.

Any ideas on how to make Chrome look "normal" with with a large monitor like this?

I was thinking the same thing - I don't have mine yet, not due to ship until the 30th, but if you do decide to open yours would you mind posting whether or not they use thermal paste, pad, etc and if you notice an improvement with AS5?

Honestly, I'd try running it in Windows 8 mode (should be under the triple _ settings options). That's what I had to do on my Q584, and it seemed to scale better, as it runs as if it was a "Mondern UI" app. It also lets you use all the touch functionality modern UI provides, like swiping to other apps, desktop, etc.

Other then that, I know Chrome has an exhaustive settings list you can modify. Your best bet would be to Google what to do...

The screen is amazing! Compared to the 2013 model. It also feels cooler on the base. although Its noticeably thicker than the last model. Looks like its because of the thicker screen and touch sensor. Still very thin none the less. Hopefully I can do some game tests before I catch my plane..

Anyone have any ideas how to transfer the razer image over to my 500gb drive?

There is an experimental option in chrome to make it scale better at high res. It makes it glitch out sometimes. Cant remember what its called off hand.

I've always used Macrium Reflect. It's free, easy to use, touch enabled and Windows PE. You can backup all partitions to an external drive as an image or just clone it to a drive(imaging would be better in your case). Make sure to do an exact copy instead of sector by sector(I forget the exact verbiage but it's in options). Shutdown, replace drive, reboot into Windows PE and restore your image. Then use a partition editor to resize the main partition(I personally use gparted). That will take some time though since it has to literally move the last two partitions before enlarging the main one.

Canadian here. In my fedex tracking info, I see that my 128GB (free shipping option) started in Canada (Ontario) on April 23, but was shipped to Texas for some reason and is now back in Canada (Quebec) where it is awaiting customs clearance again (presuming it was cleared before it arrived in Ontario in the first place). Weird :O\
