I have a backup of my vbios. Only difference is a I have the 8750h but shouldn't matter.

I finally did flash my Blade with a 9750. I does peak at around 103 Watt and also when running Heaven it is staying above 90 Watt.

    • I did undervolt the CPU -125 on core and cache.
    • GPU is undervolted with 0.76 at 1620mhz and +500 memory (that got me a higher result then overclocking the GPU)
    • I did not repaste with liquid metal yet.
Results got better but I am not sure If that is a good result or not. When I see the results of MagillaGorilla I am far off that. (Pretty sure his dual rank ram is helping a lot, I might go for that to)

Is there something I am doing wrong?

    Cheers

why not just leave the 100w and undervolt thru afterburner. Go to the graph in afterburner and hit control f. That will bring up the volt screen. I suggest not flashing back on forth. Just my opinion. The bios from handsomeghost will work though.

It was a reply to one user saying that the 100W vbios should push the wattage over 100W. Speculating that it won't go over 100W because of the heating issue maybe not sure yet.

Okay so I reflashed my vbios back to the stock one and did a bench as well as the new vbios. Here are the results. 90W vbios stays 90W and 100W stays 100W both running Heaven 4.0.

    Hi,

Sorry been crazy busy during the Holidays..

So I have Bios 1.02 (mid 2019 advanced)
Blocked my Synapse 3 from updating via firewall settings and offline mode.
    - Purpose was to keep Balanced and Gaming Mode instead of "custom/creator"
I repasted with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (months ago...)
Use Synapse gaming mode, fans set to manual 5100
    Windows power setting on Balanced

My CPU undervolt is -139 core and cache
    Turbo Limits set to 44 (1-2 cores), 43 (3 cores), 42 (4 cores), 41 (5-6 cores)
Turbo PL set to Long: 60, Short: 80
    Disable BD-PROCHOT
No throttling (thermal or power) during Benchmarks.. max ambient CPU temps 80-87

Have the 100w Razer 2070mq vbios
    GPU overclock using EVGA Precision
    +180 Core, + 500 Memory

    Highest Firestrike score thus far:
    https://www.3dmark.com/fs/21374334

Haven't tinkered too much recently, but going to try to beat my old Timespy score:
    https://www.3dmark.com/spy/8783678

Think I can squeeze out a little more

Looks nice. Maybe I'll tweak my settings tonight and see what I get but I haven't repasted mine yet so let's see how high I can get it without repaste and how close I can get to your score with your settings. Thanks for loading your settings!

Nice, that's a pretty good Graphics score!
You can probably get more CPU performance and break 7000 overall.

    Hi Razer 15 crew!

I've also been trying to get my 2070MQ to draw 100W for more performance ever since I bought my Razer Blade 15 early last year.

I have the 8750H Blade 15 with the Blade 17 100W vBios working fine but I never see it actually pull 100W.

Is this related to owing a 8750H rather than the 9750H??

What's interesting is that I'm still seeing slightly better performance with the Blade 17's 100w vBios even though it is capped at 90w.

If I installed Synapse 3 like on the Blade 17 would that unlock the full 100w? I think I remember someone mentioning they only get the 100w when using the performance mode on Synapse 3...

Any input would be awesome! Cheers guys

What have you used to test the wattage usage? I did heaven bench and it got over 90W but not up to 100W with the mod.

Because The thermal limit is being reached. ALso pushign the Blade 15 is a sure way to just ruin the battery in a way shorter time span. The internal heat increases greatly.

Synapse 3 is just a single application with profiles for each devices stored unviersally. Synapse can select different powerstates. But if you unisntall it and dont readh 100watt still, you can be sure you are hitting the thermal limit which seems to be set at 77c for the Geforce 2070MQ. In my experience it keeps boosting until the 77c and after that it just fluctuates up and down to hold that max temperature.

What are the specs being offered at that price? Is it the normal $2600 spec? If it is and it is 1800 new then it's not a bad deal at all.

    Hi,

I'm not reaching thermal limit which is is set to 84 degrees it seems, the 9750h Blade 15 owners are using the 100w vbios for the RTX 2070MQ with good results, for some reason there's something different about the earlier 8750h 2070MQ Blade 15 that prevents using the 100w vbios and its really bugging me!!

Also, even though I'm still limited to 90w, using the Blade 17 2070MQ 100w vbios has improved performance, the voltage curve must be different or something.

Thanks for your reply by the way, I might uninstall synapse and try out synapse 3 but I heard it takes away the ability to use game mode with full fan control....

I see the thermal limit at 77c. in standard mode. Performance mode gets hotter but barely improves performance. THat might be the 84c you see. But again it is thermally constrained. I have the feeling that many users didnt properly test (never saw proper comparison benchmarks) but the Blade 15 already runs at the edge. If you want to see your battery go up like a balloon then it is something to play around with. If not then I would just leave it as is and would focus on getting your laptop as cool as possible.

Just wanted to post my TS Score with the 100W GPU VBIOS. Very impressive results or what do you think ? Normal BIOS is stock and CPU and GPU is repasted with LM. On GPU I have +150/+400 Mhz. CPU -130Mv

    Overall Score: 7581
    Graphics: 7759
    CPU: 6712

That's a crazy good score!! I'm stuck at 90W even after flashing the 100W vBios of the Blade 17 because I have an early 8750H Blade with the 2070MQ and with an OC I only get around 6900 points in TS.... There's got to be a way around this limitation...

The weird thing is that running this 100W vBios has returned overall better results, even if it stops at 90W. Even the Blade 17 seems to sometimes stay at 90W unless using the proper power plan and if temps allow it.

Are you using the newer Synapse 3? I'm tempted to try it out but heard you lose manual fan control and I don't want to be unable to reinstall the old version again but it might be worth a try.

to address some of previous questions and to post some of my own issues,

I'm able to achieve 111.369 watts peak during fire strike with the new 100w Bios, so the 100W Vbios does support 100+ power.
My GPU is set to +220mhz core and +600mhz memory, and my CPU is unlocked beyond 45 watts of Razer default with -0.060v using modded BIOS*. The fire strike score is
    Total: 17808
    Graphics: 21369
    Physics: 16208
    Combine: 8473
(CPU 84C max, GPU 83C max with liquid metal repaste)
My combine score is lower than other results and i've noticed GPU usage drop during the test (combine test only), so I might hit power wall of the motherboard or something. (considering CPU running at 65W, total is about 170W)
Also, I've noticed that for applications (fire strike stress test, luxmark, Monster Hunter World IB etc.), my GPU thermal throttles around 76-77C and stays at 60-80(w/wt CPU load) watts running 1080-1450mhz(w/wt CPU load). Seems like my laptop does allow the system to push over thermal limit a bit then down cuts down GPU TDP to let it stay cool. Does this happen to you guys as well?

    Thats a pretty superb score for a 2070 Max-q , its practically a full 115w 2070 with that score.

Have noticed the same on my device. When the BIOS was unlocked I had slightly lower performance on the GPU. So I went back to default BIOS settings and my overall results were better. Besides that the fan noise and temps are better. Will stay at the normal BIOS and the new VBIOS (100W).

Guys i have aero 15 oled with 2070 max q, i think it's bios limited. Like 80 watt

Aero is tweaked with cooling pad, thermals pads, liquid metal, j did nvflash on aero 2060 rtx and got astonishing temps and clocks.

I want to do the same... Is anyone of you aware of a 2070 max q with highest max of the max tdp and power limit among all laptops with this card? What's the best bios and can we flash on aero as we did for 2060? What's the highest 2070? 100w from Asus?

All safe to flash with same nvflash method? Which bios is the best for maximum thermal power limit and tdp and highest reference clock speeds and so which is safe to flash on aero for sure? On aero 2060 I flashed a bios of a gaming Asus strix 2060 rtx which had 10w more power from 80 to 90, now I should look for 100w right?

I would try the unpatched nvflash first to eliminate the risk of flashing the totally wrong BIOS - if it is compatible the unpatched official nvflash will detect that. ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL VBIOS THOUGH!

Try a MSI or ASUS VBIOS for your card, they seem to push the power limits a bit further than other vendors. I recently flashed my RB17 Pro 2019 RTX 2060 Mobile from Razer default VBIOS (80w-90w variable) to an MSI VBIOS (90w constant) with no problems at all!

Use this tool to check the TDPs https://github.com/LaneLyng/MobilePascalTDPTweaker/releases

As you can see here, my original RTX 2060 Mobile VBIOS is 80w-90w variable TDP:
    upload_2020-2-12_13-13-37.png

You want one that says 100000 for both Target and Limit.

use this bios, among 30 bioses is the only only i could get working on my aero 15 oled XA with RTX 2070 MaxQ, before it was stuck at 80W, now i get 100W costantly and +15% performance, extreme clocks and almost 8000 points TIMESPY

it's compatible with ALL RTX 2070 Cards and 100w are OK for all VRMS in ALL LAPTOPS, it's safe, just use nvflash and you are done, i link it on my drive, it's been tested and working for razer blade 15, 17, pro, dell, and gigabytes aero and aorus and all work

just be sure your card is 1F10 and not 1F50

what are your clocks and afterburn settings for this score? are you using the 100w bios? what's the most stable settings you could get out of it?

i found my sweet spot being from 1500mhz at 0,70v and 1600mhz at 0,75v with rams at 1625mhz reaching 100w full power this way and consistency in temps and frequencies, created a fixed voltage flattened curve in afterburner, this was should work better, never go above max TDP and have a better consistency and a better user defined higher "minimum frequency".

What's your sweet spot with RTX 2070 MAX Q? Should i consider these findings as good enough or should be room for some improvenets more? The only think i can't really do is to higher the TDP and use other vbios but as the user of this thread said, aero is a tiny laptop and very probably we can never have good vrms enough to give more power, 100w is already maxed out....... i would love to have FIXED 100W but it looks like gigabyte aero allows only a range from minimum TDP 1 and maximum TDP 2 (in this case 90w and 100w, and there is no way to lock it, the PC defines where and how it must limit at 90w even if there is no load and no high temps sometimes it limits the card at 90w, probably when VRM are too hot? who knows... would love to find how they limit the max TDP in the main bios, which values or hardware they consider to to limit it and how... if this card would run always at 100w it would be perfect... this range cannot be overriden with or without gigabyte gaming control center installed or not, it will switch from TDP1 to TDP2 on his own, even you click on TDP2 in control center, it goes to 100w but when aero decide it's time to go to 90w it drops the card to 90w, and this is still an improvement because originally it was 80w-90w, this is the only bios i could have improvements, all other fixed 90 and 100w bios doesn't work, fixed 110 and 115w bioses runs always at 115w consuming power but frequency never go above 325mhz due to some limit they put in the main bios and hardware regulation probably... would really love some programmers and experts to find out how this machine work and to unlock this limits... at least to run a full 100w gpu all the time, even at a risk, but just for science to know what the laptop is actually doing by hardware or by software or bios to limit the card

anyway this is my curve, anyone with a better result? i think 0,75v is somehow the sweet spot for everyone at highest frequency for a 90/100w card.

the nice thing is that now the cards runs minimum 200mhz above the maximum boost clock, as close as to a normal 2070, but flattening the curve GPUZ shows like if the card is underclocked, but real measurements in hwinfo show insane clocks at a low voltage and low temperatures, take a look

I had a look at the vbios on your drive (thanks by the way) and it seems to be the same as the razer 90W vbios, in the PascalTDPTweaker app it says Target 90W Limit:100W which means for me who has the early 2019 Blade 15 with 8750H it will still be stuck at 90W all the time.... :(

Also the normal version of nvflash won't flash the 2070aero100W.rom even with -6 command unlike the 100W Razer vbios so I don't know if it's worth trying to use the patched nvflash since you seem to mostly be stuck at 90W most of the time on your Aero 15 if I understand correctly.

I think I just have to admit defeat, the 8750H Blades are just stuck at 90W

The One you found on my drive is actually the razer 100w bios, which is 90-100w as well and not 100w fixed. In your case you get stuck to 90w because it has a range from 90 to 100w.

In my case I could get costant 100w by fixing the voltage in afterburner so it never goes over 100w and aero doesn't go in safe mode decreasing it to 90, locked 1725 MHz at 0,80v and I get costant 100w (look at impressive results on my drive) with minimum 1500mhz at 0,7v to max 1725mhz , never goes down, got firestrike and timespy as well as real gaming and unigine heaven 4 the same results of 2070. Even Hp omen 17 with a full 2070 has lower results.

Also there is no risk in flashing, I flashed f50 bioses over f10 and viceversa with device and board difference (2070 max q and full and viceversa) and had no problem flashing back also because you start the pc the internal graphic so even in safe mode (but no need) you have inactive dGPU, if failed flash GPUZ doesn't see any value and you just use nvflash to flash again whatever bios you want, it s really safe no way to brick anything since there is an integrated grqphic card to boot...

Costant 4ghz on 9750h 12 threads is unbeleabable... Imagine that my main full size pc has a 9900KS and a super oberxlocked 2080 ti and gets just double the score of the laptop... This laptop can game 4k constantly everything , otherwise in some games just go 1080p... I m using the laptop for gaming due to intensive performance and great oled in mobility instead of my main rig because the performance there are useless and I play on TN, the quality and experience absurdly is better on the laptops on the pc I get double fps but useless since I have enough with laptop and can play with oled, wireless hs70 headphone and wireless mouse and Xbox elite pad... Really the best gaming laptop ever since it's the smallest and cheapest and with great oled panel and tweaked has same performances of a really big and heavy Alienware which gives you the same performance but bad battery life and no mobility and no oled configurations on the nicest and affordable units, to not talk about the fact it costs the double... Really never enjoyed a gaming laptop like this in 15 years, had always something for not using the laptop, laptop always had compromises... In this case NO! I prefer gaming here with stunning performances (69-129 fps in shadow of tomb raider at 1080p?? Crazy... Ah, and playing in 1080p has no impact on quality, the rescaling is absolutely not noticeable, I can say at raw eyes you don't even see the difference of 4k on a 15" and you don't see the rescaling... But you see the richest colours, the deepest black and the absolute no input lag and no ghosting... If only they find a way to have adaptive sync sync technology on oled panels and laptops with all cards, like a standard technology , vrr , freesync or gsync etc, there would be also away the stuttering of playing with vsync off and in that case the laptop would replace in everything the main rig...

This is after all useless since all vrms are tested max.for 100w tdp and also cooling system will never do it.

Official 1070 and 2070 full specs are 170w, 1070 2079 maxq range from 80,90,100 and max 115w, all bios flash ends with hardware limiting tdp as forced by bios manufacturer and it doesn't work properly , example I flashed on rtx 2070 a 115w bios, all is recognized it constantly gives 115w usage at max 300mhz at 0,6v and never raises temps cause hardware is limited and bios go crazy cause doesn't understand and communicate well with vBIOs, from what I can say there is no risk flashing even wrong bios, even different boards, it just won't work, in some cases will get unrecognised hardware and giving 0mhz and GPUZ doesn't red it well, just reflash stock bios.... Example, Alienware 2070 in area 51m is a full sized laptop with 170w thermal cryo design and can handle it, if you flash on M15 r2 which max go to 100w it will probably flash well, just go crazy vrm, bios limits to 100w anyway, and even if it works you will get 110° and even 115 w and burn everything... Just useless to try to do it for whatever manufacturer... Will never work

Also consider difference is marginal, example? I get 15.000 firestrike and 6500 timespy with 100w tweaked 2070max q.... The best twekead area 51m with 180w full 2080 (2080!!!!!!! 180w) makes 8500 timespy and 18500 firestrike... Same goes for msi ge65 and 75... All other 2070 maxq from Asus and hp and razer make even worse (zsame results of 206p rtx max 6700 timespy and 13000 firestrike)... So in my opinion just use a 1070 or 207o max q in a thin laptop trying to get max 100w and temps under control with CPU undervolt, thermal pads, liquid metal, gpu curve at sweet spot (usually from 0,75 to 0,8,v and the maximum frequencies for each voltage step for a 100w design) and you get the max out of any laptop producer (actually 15% more for a stock 9750h and 2070maxq, as close as to full 2070 and even 2080... Really no need to go over and prefer and this and cold laptop maybe with oled 4k display. If you look at my updated results in my drive you will get astonished... Just as close as to a 3500 eur area 51m and better of all razer blade 17 pro and M15 r2 and hp omen... Better then all, 4k oled at only 1800 eur with a 2070max 512ssd 16gb ram? You use the extra saved money for 32gb memory and 2x2tb ssds and liquid metal and thermal pads and make undervolt and vBIOs flash and tuning and you get a 300% times more loaded workstation with more memory and space and a real winner as desktop replacer with difference that it's still tiny and small and with best of the best screen... Just for comparison my 3500 main rig with 9900ks and 2080ti all oberxlocked and 32 GB rams at 4000mhz low cas gets just the double in each score and game... Which is useless in 1080pz. And prefer to play on laptop everywhere, noticing that laptop makes max 100w gpu and 50w CPU still has the same power of my desktop which costs the double and makes 200w CPU 380w gpu... Not considering space and extra to buy mouse keyboard monitor speakers etc.... The aero 15 2019 oled line is an absolute winner and reap horsepower workstation gaming station at a fraction of cost, just need some tuning.... Tomb raider shadow version heavyest game at the moment played with RTX ultra shadows all maxed out and you make 66fps average? Even MSI ge65 9sf which was the winner of all gaming laptop makes 58 fps in that test and with highest preset not maxed as my test... Really... Tested all laptops, aero 15 oled tweaked 2019 line is the best for everyonez even pc gamers...

Really looking at my review and drive pictures everyone will get surprised, even an Alienware area51m 2080 rtx user will get pissed off .. also considering how beautiful at thin aero is and the fact that has the best keyboard and full size and best touchpad among all of these (after installing proper drive) also consider m15 r2 even uses still 2400mhzz here we have 2666... No way...

Also ending up that more than 100w vBIOs in thin laptop is useless so just stop trying, just get it tweaked getting the maximum out of your 90w or 100w

Updated screens... Just amazing testing and review

Just an example of real gaming and real power, to see how a smal cost still tiny laptop can be better of a huge 3500 model with 2070 full or 2080 full, look at the following:
1725mhz real clock graphic card and 1650 MHz memory (6600mhz GDDR6 or 13200 MHz gbps as reported in standard specs).

100w card, CPU always at 4ghz all cores, other drop to 3,3ghz, full card of 170w drop due to heat, and they are also noisy, this say chill with no fan noise

Temps never go over 70°C even with super clocked and performing CPU and GPU with CPU always at 4ghz 12 thread 6 cores.

And you get more than 100fps with highest preset test that all reviewers do for shadow of tomb raider and more than 66 average fps with maxed out graphic all effects on a effects moved to ultra over the highest preset and manually set anisotropic at 16x and with RTX shadows set to ULTRA, screen below, this is something even a desktop can't achieve and we have this at overall system power consumption of 150w, look at afterburner stats on screen to get the meaning of this words... Really can't say more... Even an area 51m due to high heat and big case and cost and watt usage and overall similar performance can't stay at competition with this, considering that it's one of the few real 4x thunderbolt 3 laptop where others limit it to 2x without saying it and also this has the fastest uhs ii reader... Really no words guys

I only flashed the VBIOS and upped the core and memory to get that score. If you are getting close to 8k in timespy it's better than my settings. I haven't tried changing it much since I didn't have time; was busy tinkering with memory settings on my 3950x, but i think this week I can have some more time for the razer. Also I did do a LM paste on the CPU and GPU myself.I don't remember if I did replace the thermal pads or not but if I didn't I guess that's my next project!

Timespy_score_RTX2070MaxQ.jpg firestrike_scores_RTX2070MAXQ.jpg sottr_DLSS_AF16x_1080p_RTXultra_highestpreset_RTX2070MaxQ.jpg got final tweaks done and final astonishing result as pure as a full 2070 and as good as a double prices alienmare area 51m with 2070 or 2080... still in a tiny laptop never drops under 4ghz all cores and under 100w gpu, never throttle, temps never above 73°C both cpu and GPU... crazy, really no words, was able to perform even better of my previous already amazing results.

This is official, the best gaming laptop for enthusiasts, creators and gamers is the aero 15 oled, just some tweaks, which is nice to do for people who like it, and no laptop comes really with a perfect setup so even costly dell's must be optimized by users.

Shadow of the tomb raider is set to highest preset, then activated all effects, moved all extra things on ultra, moved AF to 16x, RTX shadows on ULTRA, all effects maxed, DLSS on... normally in the tests around they just set highest preset and don't add these extra feauters, even though this test surpassed all best laptops test... this is really a 4K gaming desktop closed in a tiny laptop.

Just to tell, i got a pc with 9900KS and overclocked 2060 Super which makes THE SAME SCORES, but consumes 4x, noisy 4x, and cpu goes to 90°C, and it's a full sized desktop... this is a small tiny light laptop... no even need bigger gaming laptops with better cooling, can bring this everywhere and have same performance of 4000 eur laptops.... cannot say nothing more, just look at the updated screens... all screens and infos and files uses can be found on my drive

Are you using the IMON slope/offset BIOS tweak to maintain these clocks under load?

CPU xtu -0,160v, gpu mai afterburner personal curve starting from 1500mhz at 0,7v with 15mhz increase each step till 1740mhz at 0,8v, then fattened all the curve because I tested in general games this frequency reachs 100w, changed vBIOs from 80-90w to 90-100w, optimized windows, stock ram, using a sabrent SSD which makes 2700mb read and write, above the stock intel 660p but it makes no difference in gaming, also consider external monitor gives +2/3% performance because your laptop becomes a full desktop with the gpu connected directly to monitor , this does not happen on laptop monitor which is connected to intel gpu, using Nvidia Optimus the gpu is actually a second processor which renders the frames but then send them to intel iGPU which is connected to internal display, this actually makes a double buffering such as vsync always one and results for all laptops in a 2% decrease in performance, at least, so if you use your gaming laptop as a desktop replacement external monitor or TV also gives you 2% performance boost... This is the same reason why in such games you can choose which gpu to use, and the same reason why older games what don't support Nvidia Optimus don't see the card and see only the first card (intel iGPU), the solution in that case is to connect to a monitor so that you bypass the communication between the two GPUs and the older games recognize Nvidia GPU. Just made many testing on personal msi afterburner curve to inspect max frequencie on power limit and tested which step at which voltage could be increased the ferquencie, for example in the curve sometimes I could increase from a step to another (example from 0,725 to 0,732) of 30mhz instead of 15mhz, made tests and so on, assured that the gpu was always runnning at 100w never decrease to 90w and that in game I always get 1725mhz at least, memory of you 1900mhz... And considering temperatures , if the laptop has good vrm and MOSFET and there was a way to install a 2070 bios with 115w working properly, this laptop would obtain the same performance or a full 2080 laptop. That s insane.... I dropped the full desktop and sell it, it costs 3000 eur and I have the same results with laptop and make some space and fan continue playing wherever I want just bringing the laptop with me...

Really guysz never been so happy of a purchase and never been so satisfied of my mods, consider that I used liquid metal and new thermal pads, also thermals pads on cooling system, ssds, northbridge and rams, and also using it on a cooling pad (which anyway doesn't make a difference, I tested).

Connected wireless g602, wireless keyboard, wireless headset hs70 from Corsair and wireless gamepad Xbox elite series 2, an external 1000mb read and write usb c SSD with 2 tb space... And a hdmi cable or display port if an external monitor supports high refresh rate with freesync or gsync....

See if you need some pics or files on my drive

Is there something more someone could Desire from a laptop? It actually is the best for content creator as well thanks to 12 thread and cuda cores... and to the 4k oled perfect black and colour calibrated 100% Atdcp3 colour space at only 1800 eur... This is CRAZY and INSANE... I will never sell or replace this, I want it as a remembering of old times as the best laptop ever best buy for price and performance and for modding happyneas, as a remembering of my thought for the future ehehehehh, I promise to myself never to sell this

Thanks for all this info! I guess I will tinker with my laptop a bit more. Also if you want to keep it in pristine shape look into getting some dbrand skins for it. I just got mine and it gives the laptop a whole new look. Since mine was the mercury white edition it's ugly when I get a few scratches so I decided to get something to protect it.

Hi, do you have the 8750H or 9750H Razer 15? Because I'm trying to find out out if this vBios runs at 100W on the 8750H model... Still stuck at 90W :(

    Thanks!

I have the 9750H Razer. I think people that have the 8750H wasn't able to get the vBIOS to run at 100W. This vBIOS seems to only work for the 9750H.
