Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
exactly that, its a msata, so if you want when crucial releases the m500 480gb msata you can change it, there are 2 msata slots from the internal pics, so a total of 960gb -
So Why should I pick the 17 instead of the MSI dragon or new alienware ??
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
the only reason is ''portability'', sbiu and if you like the design, the power difference is very large -
How true is the 3 weeks that they have on their site?? will it really take 3 weeks to get it???
Also performance wise the 17 will be about the 14" Alienware right? -
The way I read it they won't even start shipping until June 21 so unless you paid for expedited shipping it will be closer to four weeks before you'd receive it. And that's assuming their ship date doesn't slip
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
performance wise its going to be the same from clevo w230st
we dont have specs on the m14x yet -

They also have this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWoipdnxWD0 not sure if it was listed here

Is there any reason we haven't seen full reviews of the new Razers? I'd like to order one but I haven't been able to find a single comment on heat or fan noise, which leads me to suspect it's not that great.
-

If Razer has already sent out review units, there is probably a review embargo until a specific date and time. I would imagine that reviews will start to pop up within a week of the shipping date.
-
ROFL According to this site Razer Blade 3rd-gen specs - gdgt this is the lightest laptop in the history of mankind. At a mere 117 gms, it is lighter than my phone.
-
I suspect we won't see any reviews prior to the pre orders shipping.
-
@ anytimer
With that weight, they could charge ten times normal and it would be a bargain -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
yeah, my guess is at the end of computex, probably next week, so that it wouldnt get muddled in the "onslaught" of new models which didnt happen, it was rather disappointing to say the least -
From where the air is supposed to exit on the 14" ???? There is only a small vent at the back. Quad core + 765M, come on, this thing will overheat like crazy.
Edit : I did see it actually has two fans. Nice built but not sure it will well contain all the heat. -
The CEO said they developed a "localized heating" feature for the new blades. Basically, he means that the heat from CPU + GPU will travel to parts of the notebook that we normally do not touch, while the rest is supossed to stay much cooler.
-
even tough the touchpad on the 17 is better i think the 14 is a better bang for the money
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
it has the same cooling of the rmbp, basically it works, with the added heatpipes it should deal with the heat, now to wait for someone to put that beast through its paces.
btw they have a SB version of the 17, you should buy that
-
Problem is, MBPs have always had heat and noise problems; rMBP is slightly better but the 765m has double the power consumption compared to the 650m.
I honestly don't think it'll handle Crysis 3 too well, but older games (e.g. Starcraft 2, Civ V) should look great on the 14 Razer. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
mbps never had noise problems, heat on the other hand... the rmbp cooling aint slightly better, its much better. and if you do comparison on amount and thickness of the heatpipes youll see there is a difference. in the end we are waiting for the reviews, the heat is a major concern, but I hope it fares well.
there is absolutely nothing to back up what you said about games -
Possibly getting the 14" as it will be available in HK as well, lets wait for the reviews to come out..... and focus on the temps section
-
Would like to see pricing with the 512GB SSD and if you will be able to add your own mSATA drive or not.
-
Yeah, we'll have to wait until the reviews to find out for sure. Non-retina MBPs are noisy though, my fans max out even when running something relatively light like Counterstrike or CoD4 on minimum settings, and of course CPU temps hit 100C (15" 2011). That said, of all companies I think Razer may actually do a decent job with this.
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
its 2300, only when we see the real guts we should be able to tell if you can easily swap the msata or not
I hope they are available elsewhere aside canada and US
and what do you think the temps are going to be on this one? think the same cpu and gpu temps.
throttling is what concerns me.
and no thats fan noise for you, and its not a light load running games -
Hence I concluded that the Razer is not built to run heavy duty games like Crysis 3, considering it has a comparable cooling system but twice the GPU power consumption. Of course, MBPs are silent when not gaming; I've no doubt that the new Razers will be the same.
-
I'd expect the Blade to perform better than the mbpr in cooling. Apple has zero intake vents by the fans and does not raise the back of the laptop like the Blade does giving it a pretty big advantage in cooling. The mbpr has to get cool air from tiny vents positioned to make it looks aesthetically cleaner but I'd bet it doesn't do the cooling system any favors.
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
your conclusion is not based on anything. and thats the problem.
you can run crysis 3 on the mbp and rmbp without any problem
not really, its an air duct, doesnt really matter how far you are from the source of the air, it matters how you employ that source, for example, when you blow a fan on a tunnel is going to have a very different effect of blowing the same fan on an open area -
how many mSATA slot on a blade pro ?
and there's no hdd bay like razer blade 2nd gen ? -
Having owned 2 mbp r I can tell you first hand it does matter since the air is actually heated by the uni body aluminum shell before it gets to the fans making the entire system warmer. Its a poor design and some mbp owners have taken to drill holes into the bottom to provide cool air to the fans. Overall its a design that took ascetics into consideration over function. I returned them all due to image retention and overheating.
-
go to razer store and select some asian countries, they do list the machine as notify me and ships to original country only, I hope they come out soon though....
-
I mean, as long as you don't mind nuking your warranty, you can easily swap the mSATAs in either the Blade or the Blade Pro. You can even put a second drive into the empty 2.5" bay in the Blade Pro. As far as thermals go, it's going to be interesting.
It definitely gets warm when the dGPU is running, there's a ton of heat coming out of the components, but it'll take a lot more controlled testing to see where the heat goes and how the thermal design handles various loading conditions. Based on my experience with the Edge, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this is definitely a more ambitious design. I've been told that it reaches thermal equilibrium without throttling, which is more than Apple can say with the rMBP15. -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
drilling holes on the rmbp? thats new to me, it was an uncommon solution for the mbp, never heard it was used on the rmbp
what model did you get? the base one doesnt overheat at all. and after you repaste the thing, it drops the temps considerably, you know how bad apple does that job, its as poorly as it can be -
it's good to hear that.
so. there's hdd bay on the new razer blade pro ? but it's empty from factory, right ? -
no ones knows that for certain yet. but i have a sneaking suspicion they used the HDD space for the extra battery capacity. its kind of just the right amount of space for it. It would be kind stupid for them to offer a hdd drive cage with no option for a hdd. I imagine many people would love to have a data drive there and razer knows it, so if the space was there im sure they would advertise it. -

Any info on when we can buy it
this month in Jun or next ?
Please -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
you already can, and you should
-
You can buy it right now. It won't ship, however, until at least June 21st
-
It's the same chassis as the Blade R2, given the relative locations of the battery and the hard drive bay there's no feasible way for them to fill that with Li-ion. There's an empty 2.5" bay, it's user upgradable, though obviously Razer isn't going to support that.
Even with more robust heatsinks and a larger battery, the Blade Pro is (slightly) lighter than the outgoing Blade R2. If you were to add a drive, obviously that would change. -
indeed, I think.. there is no big difference between R2 and the blade pro
here's the inside of blade R2

hopefully there's hdd bay like the previous version.
anyone knew how much mSATA slot available on the brand new blade pro? -
still unsure if i want the razer or the new AW =(
-
Does anybody knows if there is an USB adapter that can be purchased in order to use Ethernet on the Razer Blade?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus -
Of course there is, both USB 2.0 and 3.0
-
I am going with the blade simply because I would be embarrassed to pull out the alienware 14. I could only imagine the looks I would getting pulling out that bulky, flashing behemoth in class or on a plane/train.
-
I think I've decided to go with the Razer blade. Only problem is is that there is 128GB of space which is way too low, and going for the higher spaced models would exceed my budget. Has it been confirmed that there is a second msata slot? So I could buy another and install it?
-
No mention on the horrible single fan cooling on the M14x? as opposed to the 17/18 inch brother....
however I wouldn't be surprised if the blade has the same issue, BUT however if they get the heating problem solved it will definitely be a no brainer, heck it will be the best laptop ever made in 2013, in terms of performance per cupib inch, it already surpasses the rmbp and I'm foreseeing it surpassing the later update on rmbp as well -
It has two fans if you look on the bottom. I also read a review saying the blade is surprisingly quiet and cool while gaming.
-
Really? Do you by chance have a link to it? I've read numerous early impressions and haven't seen anyone comment on heat or noise. Not arguing with you. Just would really like to read the article
-
Thanks for the answer Mario
