I don't know why people hate on the Razer Blade so much. I think the form factor alone is awesome... it's so thin for a 17'' gaming notebook. It also seems like it can handle most games.
I was actually considering one of these, but I will probably pick one up used or refurbed... Like others have said, if they put a 680m in these it would have been perfect.

Thanks for the advice guys! Another quick one for those of you who have replaced the MSATA and HDD, is caching drive mSATA II or III? Would it be faster and cheaper to simply replace the HDD with SSD and install the operating system there? Trying to decide whether I NEED to get a 256 Crucial m4 mSATA or whether I can get away with a SSD as long as space isn't going today be an issue.
Thanks in advance! -
a 500 Gig SSD is enogh space for me personally, but my ideal setup would be to have the 256 mSATA and just keep the 500 gig HDD. I don't play 256Gb's worth of games, even if I did, there's probably some of them I would play very often and woldn't mind moving to the HDD (like a lot of random steam games!)
It's easier to swap out the HDD for an SSD, but more expensive, and cuts down on space. -
cost me roughly 30 USD. Worthwhile investment IMHO, I won't have to worry about scratches then.

switchblade update released this weekend, adds a new media player (finally), so you can play music and videos directly on the touchpad.
-
mSATA is just the interface (stands for mini SATA, regular HDDs/SSDs use regular SATA interfaces), they're both SSDs. -

Anyone having issues with crappy power adapters with their R2? I just got my 3rd one from Razer, hope this one works. 1st one was doa out of the box. Had to use a spare power adapter I had left over from a Asus G73 I had previously owned The 2nd one would pick and choose when it would work. One minute the green light's on and the next it's dead and not providing power to the laptop, then it started giving off a weird ticking noise like it was going to blow up. Razer didn't even question the issue, by the end of day I had a confirmation e-mail that a replacement was on the way.

sim city and tomb raider sucking my life away...

tomb raider running ulta textures, everything else low and normal, hair FX off b/c it doesn't play well with NVIDIA cards. running at 1080p, getting anywhere from 25-40fps.

For those that remember my dog chewed up my power supply, I got it resoldered but I don't trust it to last!
Razer got back to me about it, dog chewing isnt covered under warranty! So they're going to charge me...................$100 dollars! Not bad bad at all!

Kinda ticked off about that considering that I paid so much money to have the latest and most compact components. Thinking of calling them back and asking for the newer power brick. -

I have both an R1 and R2 power supply. They're identical in size.

Has anyone upgraded their wireless card in their Blade? I'd like to do it if it's possible.
-
Has anyone tried to play Arma 3 on their blade?
-
-
Length and width were the same, but the replacement is almost twice as thick/high and has a new plug hole (on the brick) adapter on the cord to the wall socket.
Instead of the two hole cord, it now has the three hole (Mickey mouse) style plug that some printers and monitors use.
Hope this makes sense, if not I'll post some pictures. -

What is the full power specs on the power supplies you have? The two prong AC Vs. the three prong?
Three prong means a dedicated ground. -
Just to be sure, I'm talking about the plug of the cable that goes into the brick, not the wall outlet.
The replacement sent to me has the following on the bottom:
BLADE
150w power adapter
Model No. :RC30-0083
Product No.: RC30-00830100
AC Input: standard stuff
DC Output: 19V 7.9A
Total 150W -
Total n00b trying to get the audio files and etc off the USB stick -- Sorry guys
I'll google how to decompile the install stuff and see if I can figure it out!
-
interesting they sent you a 150w adapter, mine (both old and current blade) are 120w. the slim and light psu was another selling point for me to buy the blade.
any razer edge potential buyers out there, was happy to find out the usb port is still accessible when using the controller dock (so i can use my logitech wireless heaphones). -
Those of you that plan on getting the Edge, mind me asking what you'll use it for? I want one, but I can only imagine a handfull of reasons to use it, and most of the things I'd do with it I can just do on my blade! Plan on buying it none the less but I'd feel a lot better knowing I'm using it over my Blade for good reasons. First world problems I know -- Just curious as to what you guys plan to do with an Edge if you already have a Blade -
what to do with my edge? tablet on the go of course. i use my ipad and galaxy note 10.1 wherever i go for my pastoral work (pay as you go walmart hotspot works great with them), and for preaching and wireless powerpoint projection. but can really see me using this at home with the controller dock sitting in my lazy boy with headphones on. also will be fun for the occassional plane trip.
-
Alright guys my blade is on the way, what do I do first?
should I try to insure it with squaretrade or something?
-
if you want an extended warranty then sure, why not. my advice is play the heck out of it. really great month for pc games: crysis 3, tomb raider, simcity, and soon bioshock infinite... take it to a coffee shop and let people drool over it.

Need HELP here.
I have 1 razer blade r1, i didnt power it on from a month ago now when i press the power on button it doesnt do anything.
then i believe the battery has drained. I plugged in the charger and power on it started to startup normally.
But when i enter the desktop suddenly the screen goes blank and the keboard lights are dimming..
Up to now its still lights dimming from the keyboard(power brick still plugged in)..
when i pull out the charger and i press the power on button it doesnt do anything at all!
can anyone help me please?
thanks in advance!!! will be greatly appreciated!!! -
If so could be your battery died. Can't just let rechargeable batteries sit around for long periods of time without being used or charged especially one in a device that still keeps using the juice even when its turned off, blade still trickles charge to the mobo when shutoff to keep date/time working etc etc.
More than likely it hit 0 charge and you killed it by never charging it- laptop doesn't shut down at low power because its got no juice - it still has some but needs that to keep the battery in good health to give you time to plug it in otherwise the battery dies! Literally.
Contact support and buy a replacement battery..
Learned my lesson the hard way but with a car battery. Also watched an episode of that uship show where they were shipping a Tesla accross the country and it had to be delivered before the battery drained and died because otherwise it would cost 40,000 to replace all the batteries in it! Yikes!!

Just got done placing the order with Razer Support for my new Power Supply
$100 Shipped. Hopefully it's not the bigger bulkier three pronged PSU, even if it is I guess its NBD I planned on just using that as the one that stays at home and the ghetto rigged one will be the one I take on the road with me :/
Anyways, there you have it, if you damage your power sup out of warranty, or if you just want to buy another one, it's $100 bones, not bad at all. Same price my additional one for my G73 would have cost me at POS when I ordered it.
Kinda odd how "cheap" it is considering the CEO of Razer said it took something like, 7x more to develop that thing. You'd think they'd want to make some of that money back...Then again...Maybe they already did...not like the laptop was cheap! -
-
Just lirking and smirking a little more here.
The fatter one would be a 150 Watt, and is only 1/4" Thicker, tops. still 1/3 smaller than any other 150 Watt PSU.
Also for the WiFi issues, seems to be a Windows 8 Intel/NVIDIA Issue, so update in this order:
-Latest notebook drivers here: World's Fastest Graphics Cards, GPUs, and Video Cards | GeForce
-THEN Suggested latest drivers here: Intel® Driver Update Utility for wireless networking
The latest Intel HD Graphics driver breaks the Razer OSD for brightness control. Best to stick with the one on their site. -
Ahhhh so that explains my wireless issues I had with 8. Well either way the newest drivers off Intel's fixed it. I'm on 7 now anyway, stupid black ops 2 being a gamble if it works with your windows 8 copy or not

Hi i,m in the UK looking to buy one of these beauties, there is a firm that sells them but they want like £2400 for them when they are like £1700=$2500 in the US. Thinking i could get my mate who works in NY to purchase one and then bring it into the uk for me this would kinda save me like £700 - a pint or 2 when he gets to the uk
. I know you have sales tax over there so if he bought it $2500 is all he would pay?
