Cool seems to be the way fwd it is a simple upgrade... Yeah very informative Thread i have read from when r2 appeared. Nice to know that you can get 16 Gb of Memory in there as well as i use some very heavy memory apps. Love the lil screen being able to have facebook etc in game is a big selling point for me. I work away a lot so for me this is the perfect solution. i have pondered over the mx17 the styling on them are defo aimed at the younger punter and say the sensible option the lenova is brick like, dont fancy lugging 10 pound around anytime. The razer is dripping style and class that is worth the extra money even with the less performance for me. i started gaming with TFC so these days i,m not looking for ultra settings and frames as long as i can use BF3 L4D2 it will do...

Hey everyone. went to install my new hard drive in my Blade and the hard drive was too thick so it wouldn't fit inside properly without leaving a large gap on the outside of the computer. Does anyone know a hard drive that will fit properly without leaving this gap?

Can you show me a link to the drive you tried to insert? If you are talking about a solid state drive then yes, I read for clearance you need to have a 7mm drive. Which is why I had my eyes on the samsung 840.

Just got done tossing together my wifes new desktop, finally sold my G73! If you guys remember me saying the way I got the thumbs up for the blade was for me to sell the G73 and use the money made to upgrade her new desktop - She's got one of those Samsung 840's now, was hard for me to stick it in her desktop and not just crack open the blade and install it in mine! :(

I get a nice bonus check for our union ratifying a contract this year without striking, so I think I'll be getting me a 500Gb 840 Pro next pay period :) :) :) -- Sorry to hear about your problems pyro, I honestly didn't think we'd have issues with ANY SSD, my wifes first gen OCZ wasn't much thicker than the 840 I put in, I mean it was a little thicker, but not by much...then again when you're running such a thin profile laptop 1-2mm can make the difference I s'pose.

Definitely looking forward to the power I'll save while on battery over the HDD

    This is the hard drive
NCIX - Buy Computers, Computer Parts, Laptops, World's Leading Discount Computer Store

When I got it installed it was too thick for the case to properly close up so there was a separation on the outside of the case. It happened because the screw locations were lifted up so there wasn't enough room close the case fully.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might properly fit in the case?

I do Sales in the Small Business Division of AT&T's Regional and Local Business Markets Department. Basically anyone that opens up a business and needs Phone lines, Internet, Website, Cell phones, etc talks to me and I set everything up for them. It's a lot of fun and slow paced as far as incoming calls go so I get to kind of browse the internet (not supposed to) as I please. On breaks/lunch (sometimes during work) I hop on the blade to check D3 auctions, play a quick game or there, but sense it's on my phones mobile hotspot and not a dedicated wireline it's frustrating unless it's a kick back game like Nexus Wars in SC2.

With the mSATA idk, I've been wondering that myself. I'm leaning more towards just using it as my boot drive. It's not going to be as fast as it would if the partition was on the samsung ssd but w/e - it's not going to be THAT much faster and I've got no other purpose for such a small drive. I may eventually end up upgrading it to a 256 SSD as well but before I get around that that I'm sure the R3 will be out so I will probably not get to do it since I plan on upgrading as soon as I can :D - That's the reason I chose to do the SSD over mSATA SSD this way I can definitely swap it into my next machine, wether it be a desktop or laptop, and with the mSATA I'm kinda limited.

This took me to the main page of their website lol.

Oh okay, interesting. My job is pretty laid back as well, I am probably going to be playing on the clock though because when I am in my office nobody really bothers me lol. I just purchased a R2 from ebay. I am waiting on it now.

Jealous! If I do anything on company time I have to be very sneaky about it because otherwise I could get in trouble and slapped with a customer mistreatment. When will people understand that just because the mass can't multitask doesn't mean those that can should be held back! :(

So true man. I clean artificial kidneys so my office is usually locked off and the nurses only come in to place the kidneys in my refrigerator. Blood is usually squirting out of them so people just stay away. Sometimes I get lonely but soon my blade will keep me company lulz.

Are there any plans that provide good speeds and unlimited data from my phone that I can tether the blade with and play BF3 and stuff from wherever I am without lag?

What are people expecting with R3? Razer have left enough room within the current form, to count say a 256msata 1 tb hardrive 16 gb and say a 670mx (oc'ed 660) as a legitimate upgrade or do you think it will be major upgrade say right side usb port and in out audio?

won't be any upgrade until haswell comes out, and that will be the most significant upgrade (battery life and integrated gfx power). an ssd or msata would be nice. wondering what the razer edge will be like with a haswell processor as i'm pretty sure the 640m is powerful.

Even though having a SSD would be nice, I'm trying to get larger internal storage and it would be extremely expensive to get a SSD with over 500gb of space. Right now, I'm looking for a HDD that would work with my Blade.

Just got a R2 Blade, I was having problems with synapse turning off the trackpad screen after the laptop had been sleeping, so I ended up reinstalling synapse. Now my trackpad (the synaptics driver) takes a while to activate when booting.

Essentially, has anyone had problems using the generic Synaptics driver on their blade? Any conflicts with the Switchblade ui?

True that, I have a OCZ Vector 500 GB SSD in mine's and replaced the msata with a 256 GB and set it as the main drive and the 500 GB as a storage device. Wiped Win 8 for Win 7 pro, interface is a nightmare. Tried running linux but couldn't get the Switchblade UI to run under wine :(.

Haswell cpu, new gpu, blue backlighting added and or multi color like the alienwares, dedicated mic and audio ports, maybe more usbs, lots more Alps

Those are things I see happening with r3

New Swtichblade customizer is great! Finally a way to remove the bloat stuff off of it and re-arrange things I'd like to be arranged!

Sidenote: I got my power supply today, a day earlier than expected, no doubt due to razer l33tness :p - Not the weird 150 Watt P sup though, the standard 2 pronged slim one -- which is great. Was a little worried I'd get the bulkier one! :)

P.S. Galaxy S4 got revealed today, not trying to derail the thread here but is anyone else excited? If you are just add a PS or something to a post as we mosey along so we don't get off topic :D

Quick question to those of you that actually use the blade and not just connect a keyboard and monitor to it while at home!

How do you go about cleaning it? This thing LOVES finger grease and shows it really badly -- I find myself at work the next day after a night of playing cleaning it everytime. So far I've been using a small spray bottle with windex, lightly spray a terry cloth and then just wipe down everything.

How do you guys go about removing finger grease/prints from your blade?

Is there a coating I could apply to it myself that would help make it more resistant?

    Very good question Hemo.

So I left work early today to get my blade from the post office but they closed at 4:30 and the guy still had my blade on the truck and wasn't getting back till 5. I guess that is what I get for leaving work early.

Hey guys... have any you found a solution to the wireless issue? I'm coming to this computer from an iMac and before that from a MacBook and both of those computers were able to take full advantage of our 50 MBS download. The Blade is hardly ever able to achieve more than 9 MBS and even then the connection VERY unstable. I get 24-30 second lag spikes regularly within my games and YouTube videos load so inconsistently.

I'd really like to not have to return the Blade and get an Origin/Alienware, but if using the Blade (a mobile computer) means having ultra bad wifi connections, I will have to. As that's kind of important for a laptop....

Windows 8 or 7? Windows 8 doesn't have very good wireless drivers atm. If you're on 7 I'd suggest trying the new drivers provided by intel on their site as I had some wireless issues myself and now it works fine. Also assuming when you're getting 9 mbps you ping to the servers are still good or is it higher than usual? Just you on your router or multiple devices like cell phone/desktop/laptops?

I'm on Windows 8. Perhaps I should downgrade to 7? Also, my ping is as normal and device number has not changed. Macs still getting their old strength results.

Try getting the drivers directly from intel -- I was on 8 when I had my problems, and the ones I got from them seemed to fix it. I downgraded to 7 the next day to be able to play Black Ops 2 so I can't say it wasn't just luck or a temp fix or something, but I went from getting 13 mbps in my living room like 10 feet away from my router (between a wall) to 27 mbps, and I have a 30Mb connection, so that makes sense

Edit: And of course no issues on 7 :D

Kinda of sad too, because Windows 8 was pretty nice.

welcome to the club sdot, hope you enjoy it. did you manage to get an r2? btw, i finished playing with my brother's ASUS ROG G73 laptop. It has the 670M (not the MX) as well as a nice 3D screen. However, the 660m and my Blade pretty much matched the ASUS if not surpassed it in some games. Playing Tomb Raider in 3D was pretty fun, but have to say I'm used to a matte display now, just keeps everything so much sharper.

Moreover, the PSU is ridiculous! I understand the 670M draws more power than the 660m (Kepler based), but even the 660m ASUS units at Best Buy have massive power supplies. I guess if you're buying a 9 pound beast an extra 1.5lbs isn't supposed to be a big deal. If you saw in my review one of praises about the Blade was the small footprint power adapter. Not trying to be an ASUS hater. I owned 2 ROG laptops at one point, not to mention an Alienware M18X, M17x 3D, M17X, M15 X, M11X (lol). I've owned a Blade longer than any brand (with the exception of my old HP Envy 15 Beats Limited Edition which was amazing).

Played SimCity a total of 52 hours already. The should rename it the Life-Sucking Game. Can play at really fancy settings but framerate drops to like 15FPS, which isn't a big deal for this genre of game.

Anyone know how to create a Custom Key binding for Office 2013 programs? It keeps pointing to an sliicons.exe file. I need to be more productive on my baby, can't keep playing games all the time LOL gotta work too.

Edit: also I installed the new switchblade update, can't figure out how to remove the bloat stuff. Rightclicking won't remove the icons, dragging isn't rearranging the icons. Am I missing something here? :p
