Hey guys... back again. Last time I posted it was about the poor wireless connection with the blade. I was instructed to download the drivers on Intel's site using their driver tool. Well, I downloaded the driver but whenever I open the download to update my computer it freezes and forces my computer crash and causes a restart. Any suggestions...?

Thanks so much. Everything else rocks.

i have had to cancel from xoticpc Nothing to do with them they have been Superb. I was double checking on customs charges and it turns out i will be paying like 25% of the total cost inc shipping costs this means it goes way over the £2000 mark where then customs hold it and i have to wait for them to send a form send it back etc could take weeks. So it is now better for me to take the £2400 hit from the UK albeit i,m gonna try and get them down a few quid but they will honor the warranty so i have peace of mind knowing i only will pay for 1-way shipping within the uk,

I feel like a fiend waiting for my blade to come back from repair.

What was the story with yours Sdot? what have Razer said?

It is a long story, took probably 3 pages of the thread. I am still waiting for razer to get back to me. I am hoping they will just fix it and ship it back free of charge so I don't have to open a dispute on this guy. I am still wondering if he tried to sell me a messed up blade or if it was just technology breaking, which we all know it happens.

I doubt it, I've had mine OC'd @ it's max clock for days before while gaming for glory runs and it was fine. He was probably just really unlucky and something went wrong with the laptop after he modified it...Good to hear you're getting your blade soon! That's great. Hope you like the Orochi :) I like mine a lot for when I'm on the go. Just got confirmation my Death Adder shipped, should have it wednesday!

Cool the Death Adder looks the part i may get one in the future for me home PC, might just fit in my back pack eventually :D. at the min kinda like the idea of having a wireless for messing about but with the option to plug in. Have you tried to create your own apps for the UI? is it easy to create simple ones like the you tube app?

Nope haven't made any apps yet. Been kicking around the idea of making profiles for games I play though, just haven't gotten to it yet. Excited about the Death Adder, wish razer made a mamba-esque wireless mouse that just used a tiny usb receiver like the logitech ones, I'd snatch that in a heart beat. Mamba is wireless but the usb receiver is also a charging base, looks weird on the go :p

I didn't bother benchmarking it, there' already other reviews that have done it, as long as it's faster than a regular hdd, I'm happy.

Well, I successfully oc 660m to 1260MHz, but not very stable, so 1230MHz is enough. and RAM 3000MHz
you need nvidia inspector and 310.90 drivers.(ealier version is OK, but 314 or later not)
    314 can only +135

    PS: does anyone oc 3632qm?

Nice! Was only ever able to take mine to 1170/3000! The vbios looks all of them at doing +135. You can do more by forcing a different state in nvidia inspector, the p2 state iirc. Then you can adjust to any oc with that. You have to do it every time you login but you can make a bat file to make it easy. There is a thread on the nbr forum somewhere on how to do it

I advice you spend the money and get a good quality mini screwdriver. I had to try a few until I found the one that worked (I almost ruined a couple of screws with some cheap screwdrivers.)
I finally got a set from Amazon: GearWrench 80056 6-Piece Mini Torx Dual Material Screwdriver Set that worked very well, even with the screws that were already hammered ($19.)

Waste of time in my eyes, I researched it and read reviews and already had an idea of what the msata's performance would be. It performs as well as all the other ssd's available. It's a mid-range at the most but faster than the stock hdd that is shipped with the laptop and that's good enough for me.

What i meant Geedub is the overall performance of the blade, with 16gb and 2 ssd,s it must be a fair bit more responsive?

Ram speed is the only difference you'll even remotely notice while gaming. RAM is just like an HDD basically, if you've got a 300 gig hard drive, but you only use 100 gig's, you're going to see absolutely no difference with a 500 gig UNLESS it's a faster drive. This thing could come with 6 gig's (2 less) of ram and you'd never know. Well, you might, you do DJ work. A lot of audio and video work on this thing, then yeah, having 16 gig's would be good then. Even so, 8 is a lot. I honestly think other manufacturers only give people the option to upgrade to ridiculous amounts of ram like 32 just to make money off them by selling more ram, and more labor fee's just because people don't know better.

Also, with the cache drive, if you only use 1-2 programs mostly all the time, they'll always be keep on the cache ssd...so having the HDD swap out for an SSD you'd only notice on files you don't most commonly use. Like photo's, random documents, etc...Now if you use a lot of programs and your use of those fluctuates a lot, then the cache drive will keep switching them out, so yeah you'll notice that too more than likely. Just all depends :D

My work is in real world 3D BIM modelling using heavy memory software say navisworks and revit will take 12gb instant running together so 16gb will probs be the first thing i will crack it open for but i do agree 8gb is way enough for gaming well into the future...

i have exact 64gb cache drive on my game rig it works really well,, fast enough for me. So my thoughts are if i,m not missing out on much its best to wait. ssds in a years time will be in another galaxy as wear and tear decreasing their performance overtime.goes.and will be half the cost and twice the size.... Only thing i wont like is have a moving hard drive can you hear it? feel it?

Yeah, more RAM for you makes sense :D

I agree, I think I may wait for my SSD. I just rescued a german shepherd so my time online will be limited for awhile while it acclimates and I train it, so probably a bad time to start working on beefing up the blade lol

I just got off the phone with razer blade support, first thing he said to me was we are shipping it out today. I said, "so ummmm they fixed it" and he said yes. I just knew they were about to give me a freakin bill. Razer has got my vote. I am officialy a Razer fan (not that I wasn't before).

Can't do it without hacking/modding the bios. I asked in a different section on NBR if anyone has it, or can point me in the right direction of one, and was told I'd have to go to a different section and upload my bios and request someone unlock it, and then flash it.

Sounded risky to me. I have a lot of android phones that I flashed and replace the kernal and rom on, and if the person doing it doesn't do it right, it's no bueno. And since this would be a one time thing and not something that person would probably spend a lot of development and polish time with me on it, I just am not interested in doing it! Fingers corssed the R3 will allow us access to OC the CPU!

There's also third party software out there but I've been told that stuff hasn't been updated in years, let alone for a Razer Blade (they usually only update big name brands) so thats out of the question!

yeah sounds best to leave it alone imo, looking at the benchmarks on that latest review the 3632 seems to be a special piece of kit, performing like a 45 watt but only using 35 watts... without seeing how they have locked the bios its hard to say but no doubt there will be some room to manouvre...

Well, its an i7, there's definitely some thermal headroom for it I'm sure albeit not that much. Won't be like some laptops here you can give it 1ghz oc but I imagine we could at least take it to 2.5 safely. It being such an odd ball version i7 though and not widely used means not a lot development for it. Just like with phones. Told my wife i would root and ROM her next android phone and she picked a Samsung stratosphere, which NO developer cares to buy so I can't do anything to it. Lol

Maybe. The way ming talked in the keynote for the r2 it sounded like they colaberated with Intel to get a good solution in the blade. If so that's really cool. Alienware (Dell) and Asus among others probably don't go to that level because if the laptop industry is anything like the car industry the gaming laptops are a huge minority or their profits, so little r&d and out of the box thinking gets applied to those divisions more than likely.

This is what I did. As usual the UK company had fantastic service/delivery. The blade personally to me is worth every penny because it is so nice to use.

Mine came with windows 8 on it, and while I was gonna strip it off straight away and put Win 7 Ultimate on it, I've now decided to keep it on as once I installed StartIsBack I had a proper start menu back (it's free for 30days but uses the actual windows 7 libaries to draw the menu unlike ClassicShell), which let me actually use windows easily and the gaming performance (and performance in general) is very very good.

I do have a couple of criticisms of the Blade though.
    Keyboard:
The keys on the keyboard are too stiff. Personally, they need to be lighter/softer with 'slightly' 0.5-1mm more travel.
The keys themselves should be slightly concave at the top to make them much easier to touch type on.

    Screen:
It's a nice screen, but unfortunately not as good as my old RGB blacklit Dell XPS Studio 16 the Blade replaces.
The screen really should have been an IPS panel.

    Design:
The front edge of the Blade really should be rounded a bit more as it is rather sharp and can dig into your wrists.

    Storage:
The HDD really should have been a 1TB drive. I find the ssd cache works extremely (and surprisingly) well, but I find the 500GB especially when you factor in the recovery partition to be very lacking.

Other than the above, I love the Blade and really think they got it right (other than not making it available in UK/Europe).

I'm thinking of buying a Razer Orochi to use along with my Blade. I know that in the US there is/was a Blade Edition of the mouse which uses a 3G sensor and Bluetooth 2.0. The new Orochi 2013 uses a 4G laser sensor and Bluetooth 3.0, so I'm wondering if anyone has got the 2013 version and what their experiences with it and pairing it up to the Blade are.

Hi mate i have a 2013 version but yet to use it, will let you know over the weekend Hemotherapy had an original razer blade orochi and had a few issues with it especially that it was not synapse 2.0 and bt2.0 lagging the dpi in wireless mode. with the orochi2013 all that is fixed as well as it has doubled the battery life. So its a no brainer tbh when choosing between the 2 it also must be said it is quite small, some people dont like that....

^ What this man said. I think I'd be a lot happier with a 2013 version, but it's still too small for my liking as a 24/7 mouse :D

I can agree that a little concave would make them easier to type on, I don't know about more travel. I'm not a much of a keybaord enthusiast so I can't really criticize that part of it lol

It's still a nice screen, they didn't cheap out on it really. I've never been much for paying for a lot of money for an amazing picture on my laptops nor my TV's. As long as I can see everything clearly, I'm happy, I could care less if the hue of the picture is off or if the blacks aren't deep enough? Black is black to me lol I compared the screen to my friends G75 screen, his is glossy, it looks nice, but I like mine more, everything looks more crisp, and no glare, his does look more colorful though, I admit, but it's not like I'm working with both everyday, so I never really think about it.

Awww c'mon nancy boy! ;) I like the sharp edges, we can all just start calling it "blade wrist", a battle scar you wear with pride ;)

Agree agree agree! I was very surprised with how well the cache works. I think a bigger mSATA, like 128 Gig, MAYBE 256 where it prioritizes windows boot files and Synapse, and then the rest can be left as a true cache, with a 1TB HDD would have been optimal. But they were trying to cut cost on the R2 to make it cheaper and I think the solution they came up with was a good one.

I know this isn't the right place, but what do you guys think of the Razer Edge?

I'm really intrigued by the 999.99 model...seems like a nice replacement for the M11x I used to have.

    [QUOTE Storage:
The HDD really should have been a 1TB drive. I find the ssd cache works extremely (and surprisingly) well, but I find the 500GB especially when you factor in the recovery partition to be very lacking] [/QUOTE]

I have come up with this idea http://patriotmemory.com/company/news/newsp.jsp?source=255 to put a 512 ssd inside this enclosure until the warranty expires and i can crack open the blade and swap the drives over...You could easily do the same with a 1tb 2tb drive Gaz only thing to be careful with is the HDD must 7mm thick to fit in the Blade. the only not so hot thing about this enclosure is it wireless transmitter isnt great so it would have to be in the same room as you but it is pocket sized...

I think it's not really 999.99 personally lol it's 999.99 + 249.99 for the controller sticks accessory. I don't think I'd be able to get the edge without them otherwise you're just buying a tablet, not a gaming computer in tablet form. I also think the keyboard dock accessory is slightly manditory as well, lord knows what that'll cost lol

Took the words right out of my mouth H :) i would wait and see how much the keyboard and the dock are before plunging in, it has a Nvidia 640 card so should be decent enough compared with a xbox ps3...
