There really isn't much to talk about regarding changes over the 2016 model. Obvious items are the over-clockable CPU and THX mumbo-jumbo. Less obvious are the internal changes to reposition the SSDs and remove the auxiliary chassis fan. I wouldn't call the auxiliary fan a "cooling fan" because in the 2016 model, all it did was move air around inside the chassis to spread heat around. It had no capacity to intake cool air or exhaust hot air. Performance in games should be at or slightly above 2016 RBP levels. In most games, a user can get away with a decent overclock on the CPU, perhaps around 3.9-4.0 GHz before the 45W power limit will be reached. This does have a measurable impact in game FPS and benchmark score. That said, in synthetic stress tests, the CPU cannot sustain much overclocking due to both power and thermal limits.
I run everything on an external 3440x1440 widescreen and this seems to be a sweet spot for the CPU/GPU combination. Running at lower resolutions (2560x1080 or 1920x1080) results in extremely high FPS and therefore a lot of load on the CPU. Higher resolutions net lower FPS, but still way above what my 60hz monitor can display. 4K is 67% more pixels to display compared to 3440x1440 so this is where you'll struggle to sustain a constant 60 frames with most modern games at decent settings.

The point of the auxiliary fan was to 'dissipate the air throughout the chassis and remove any hot spots' -Razer dude
They wouldn't remove it unless it didn't f*cking work so thumbs up to the amazing engineers @ RazerHackintoshihope, bsch3r and Vistar Shook like this. -
I have an LG Ultrafine 5K monitor. Currently running it in 4K through the single Thunderbolt 3 cable. Can someone let me know if and how 5K is possible with the GTX1080 in the Razor Blade Pro?

Can anyone suggest some nice shoulder bags or messenger bags that fits the Blade Pro. Preferably less gamer style so no vindicate pls lol

I went with a Samsonite shoulder bag. Its fairly large but i use it for work and it suits me very well. Not sure of the name, might be one of the Xenon models, at least it looks like it.

Guys I intend to buy the razer blade pro 2017 but I saw at some foruns it was overheating and shuting down by itself because of the heat. Are you guys having problems with your blade pros 2017? It is too much money to get a defective notebook, I need to be sure before buying it if it is okay to go. One more question is the touchpad precision like alienware notebooks have?

I have the same experience. Watching the temps, throttling doesnt seem to be depending on it. While running games on mine i have temps around 70 degree, and throttling now and then. Its high, but not like its all that high. Most likely throttling is mainly due to power limitation when the GPU is working.
On the other hand, temps would probably be unmanageble if more power was pumped in so that is probably not an option. Using my machine 99% at work, i dont see any of these problems since i have no load on the GPU. Machine is performing very well but i guess most buy it as a gaming machine and it feels a bit so so in that regard.Vistar Shook likes this. -
They removed the system chassis fan for the KBL model.
I wonder why the VRM is overheating? Totally a mystery.Vistar Shook and D2 Ultima like this. -
Even using a colling pad and putting it over it to help with cooling does it shutdown in games? In other foruns a lot of people do mention their blades are shutting down during gameplay because of overhear

Better for the internal hardware/MB components. Same for the PSU who already struggle. Worth a try. Put it on top of...

Just picked up my machine about a week ago. I'll share my thoughts so far.
First and foremost, the machine is extremely well built, which you allready know if you have owned a razer laptop in the past. I'm coming from a Macbook pro, which i very much enjoyed. This guy is much bigger than the macbook, but not obnoxiously big as some have said. The keyboard is one of the more contentious aspects of the laptop. I don't love it, but i don't hate it either. It just seems like more of a gimmick than anything. The keyboard on the standard Blade model is superior to me. The trackpad is... solid. Its very good for a windows machine, but compard to an apple device? Frankly it's still not even close. How PC's are still this far behind in that technology is baffling to me. I won't get into too much detail, but the amplified headphone port is another really nice.
Now in regards to performance, i think you guys have covered this pretty extensively. Its not the best performing laptop in this price range, but it's not far behind either. No other laptop out there offers this performance combined with this design and construction, so you take what you get. I am currently using it as a console in my living room, hooked up to a 70 inch 4k screen, using the Razer turret to play my games. Highly recommended by the way. I haven't had any issues with playing at 4k. Slaying titles like the Witcher 3, GTA5, DOS 2, and more. Wolfenstein did cause my keyboard lights to dim, along with fps drops frequently. Not sure what this is. Throttling im guessing? With everyday real life performance, the Blade Pro flies through every task I throw at it, and battery life is very respectable for a machine this powerful. I can't imagine having to upgrade this machine for at least 2.5-3 years.
Cons
- Get's a little warm for my liking when doing mundane tasks. Nothing crazy, but not ideal.
- Keyboard should have stayed same as the 14 Blade
- Probably could have made the screen bigger and gone with smaller bezels. Especially at this price point.
- I worry about the longevity of the machine. Temps can get to uncomfortable levels even while idling at times. If i don't get 2 years of steady use out of this thing, i'll be furious.hmscott likes this. -

Anyone want to share about the battery life please? Under light usage.... -
You can expect roughly 3.5 to 5 hours, depending on What your doing.

Will undervoltage help? I need to get solid 5hrs+ on airplane...

I think you can hit 4.5 to 5 fairly comfortably with the screen dimmed and lighting turned off. It literally has the biggest battery available for a laptop, so your not going to find better battery life with this level of performance.
-
I think they also sell a portable charger if I'm not mistaken. But I have no problem getting through a few classes with this guy.
-
I hit 5 hours a few times on an MSI GT73VR with the intel GPU enabled, CPU undervolted, 120hz display turned to 60hz with low brightness and backlit keyboard off.
I've also heard the Acer Predator 17 gets decent battery life for this segment, but I have not tried it personally.Vistar Shook likes this. -
Just was going to add my experience so far with the machine. I love it, except the track pad, but I think I'll get used to it being touchy.
Mine was thermal throttling like crazy and hitting 99 on the CPU every time I stressed it. I ended up taking it apart and repasting. It was worth it. Hands down. A little nerve wracking taking a laptop all the way down that far less than a week in, but I didn't really feel like swapping it through Amazon if I didn't have to.
Temps dropped 20c across the board. If you're having overheating problems, do it.acrox999 and Vistar Shook like this. -

The bottom cover is held on by torx, except the two under the rubber trim at the rear. Everything from here on in is phillips screws. The cover comes off if you slide it gently towards you, as there are a couple of hooks at the rear of the laptop cover.
The spots I circled in red are the things that need to be removed. You do not need to remove the fans to remove the motherboard, so leave them in. Some of the spots that I have circled as screw holes don't actually have screws - I just took this picture in the middle of it without thinking. There is tape over some of the connections, so gently peel that and reuse it after. The hardest cable to get to is the volume click, but with tweezers it's not impossible.
After you get the motherboard out there are two rubber 'bumpers' attached to the heatsink fins on the motherboard side, they simply come off and can be replaced when you are putting it back together.
There are 6 screws holding the heatsink contact pads on, they are all different, so keep track of their positions. Once they are removed gently roll the heatsink over, being careful not to damage the black metal heat transfer material. You can see how I did it in the third photo and the crap paste job it had.
I hope that helps, I know it's made a huge difference for me. The fans don't go up to max speed like they used to constantly and I haven't had any throttling issues since.Vistar Shook likes this. -

I reformatted my Razer Blade Pro and lost the THX display profile (had to reformat because I accidentally updated to the Red Stone 3 Windows 10 Creators Update and was having BSOD's and Touch Pad/Keyboard issues). Would anyone who owns the machine and still has not reformatted be able to provide me with the display profile? Thanks!

If you want to charge the Blade 14 or Blade Pro you need something like this.

Too bad it still needs a bigger PSU...acrox999 likes this. -
The worst thing is that mine is now showing a vertical blue line around the left side of the display. I suspect that the display connector might be loose. It was only yesterday that I inherited this laptop and it was rarely used yet the display is already causing problems. I saw a dead pixel as well. Just one tiny little pixel. So maybe when I send it for RMA or something, I'll tell them about the heat as well. Perhaps they can replace the thermal paste or something and see how it goes.
By the way, why would this laptop need a bigger PSU? Is the charger charging really slow or something? -

Display out question. Thinking of getting a high refresh rate external monitor. Probably 1440p @ 144hz. Does anyone know if the USBC port in the RBP supports DisplayPort out or if the existing HDMI port be able to support this spec?

I would love to have access to the THX color profile as well, since I had to reformat and put my company's enterprise edition of Win 10 on this laptop! Anyone able to shoot it over to me? Thanks!
