Just a fyi, belkin sells a generic 10.1 tablet portfolio. I went to Lowes and had them cut a sheet of plexi glass for the back part and the razer edge does stick out a little on each side, but it works great!! I can even set it up with it plugged in and don't bother with the dock when at the office. Also on a side note, my wife got mad and threw it at the wall, wall had a hole and the razer edge is still kicking!! Also I have overclocked my razer edge, unfortunately its just the MSI afterburner overclock which was limited to 200 additional, so over 700MHZ when the boost is active. No issues at all.

overclocked mine in the controller but with the back cover off and system gains a few degrees more but like 20% more performance on some games
-
have you guys tried the dock gaming how is it on a 1080 monitor?

I have a couple docks but I haven't really bothered to run too many games at 1080. I think the only one I tried at 1080 was Rocksmith but that isn't really graphic intensive. The 640LE isn't really powerful enough to run high end games at 1080p with a high frame rate. I just stick with the 1366 x 768 resolution and it still looks good. BF3 runs at 40-50 fps at that resolution and it still looks a lot better than the ps3/xbox version.

I found out about this tablet 3 weeks ago and pulled the trigger on an Amazon warehouse deal as it wasn't marked up 30% on e-bay. What I paid for the controller alone is the cost of most 7" android tablets. I'm not seeing the value in this aside from it being a unique snowflake in today's tablet market. It's powerful but I'm finding it not worth the price of admission. I'm sure when I get more time to play some more games on it my opinion may sway, but for now it's been an expensive web browser. -
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
Well the Edge is definitely not the best tablet out when it comes to web browsing and playing casual games (like angry birds and cut the rope). The real value is being able to play full pc games in a tablet form factor. When you add the gamepad, you can play games in places that aren't really possible with any other gaming laptop.

Thank you for your purchase of the 65W Power Adapter for the Razer Edge.
We discovered that a number of shipments did not contain a power cord with the adapter, and it seems that your order may have been affected.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience - we will be sending a power cord in a separate shipment to the shipping address in the original order. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at Razerzone Contact Us .
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Team RazerStore
Did you notice a significant increase in performance after overclocking or was it barely noticeable? Have you had any heat issues?

Hey guys,
I have long been interested in the Razer Edge and now I am interested in the Blade but I can't bring myself to buy either yet.
What do you guys see happening first, the Razer Blade 14" gets a display upgrade or the Razer Edge gets Haswell?
I would have probably already bought the Razer Edge if it would ship instantly. But every time I see the shipment time for the Pro I stop my order. Now it has been so long I am just hoping to hold out for either Haswell in the Edge or an IPS display in the Blade 14". Thoughts? -
If you guys are sorely missing the start menu there's a program called " classic shell" that's open-source and brings back the start menu; it even replaces the windows button action to bring up the classic start menu.. If you still want to use metro, you can swipe from the side and bring it up that way. Best of both worlds for those not digging metro.

I think the Edge would probably be upgraded to Haswell first. Besides longer battery life, I can't imagine anything else that can be improved drastically on the Edge. The keyboard dock coming out soon should have a slot for the extended battery so we should be able to squeeze 7-8 hours out of the current Edge in the dock (non gaming of course). I also can't imagine the Haswell version having a drastically improved video card. There is only so much they can do when you take into account the heat output and the space that they have to work with. -
When will we see the Haswell refresh?
-
Well, like many of the reviews stated on Amazon, the shoulder buttons on the controller are now "sticking" and are no longer responding. For the price of a console/game system I was hoping this would last longer than 3 weeks.
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
The controller clearly has to be recalled -
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
Where did you hear about a revision? Luckily, my gamepad hasn't given me trouble yet but now I'm getting worried....
-
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
They told me when I contact them about my trigger not responding
They clearly know all the units are affected just not showing the problem at the same time -

I used the gamepad accessory extensively over the past week and other than some occasional drift which could be chalked up to in-game sensitivity (doesn't happen in all games), it's been fine post-repair. -
Can anyone suggest a good case? Something more to just protect the edges. I like to watch movies when I go to the gym and do cardio, but I don't want to scratch it up from the vibrations.
Mainly, this type:
Amazon.com: Gumdrop Cases Drop Tech Series for Asus TF300T Transformer Pad, Black (DT-ASUS300-BLK-BLK): Computers & Accessories
or even one of these folding ones:
Amazon.com : MoKo(TM) Folding Cover Case with Stand for Asus Eee Pad Transformer 10.1-Inch Android Tablet (TF101 Sleeve) Black : Computers & Accessories
I found one:
Amazon.com : Bluetooth 3.0 Keyboard Folio Case Cover for Razer Edge / Razer Edge Pro 10.1' Gaming Tablet, ( Keyboard Included, Screen Protector Included ) : Computers & Accessories
But it came with a keyboard and I don't want to spend $100 -
Speedy Gonzalez Xtreme Notebook Speeder!
at first I thought they was going to send a replacement when they have the revised model but no they want us to live with the same gamepad so that is just bad move from them because they lose credibility
I would say that between crappy screens on the 14" blade and defective Edge controllers Razer is probing they not ready to compete. -
sorry for the lack of punctuattion, onscreen keyboard is garbage. also, anyone notice on their website that these are now branded as edge 2013 and edge pro 2013? Leads me to believe a refresh is coming. -
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
Refresh may be on it's way as more and more haswell tablets come out. I'm just hoping the keyboard dock comes out before school starts.
-
Well apparently they took the 2013 designation down as it's back to the old product listing. Did a web admin goof with a product leak?

Hello all,
I am new to this forum and don't have the time to read through all 53 pages.
I have owned the 64 GB Razer Edge for 4 days and has been an absolute blast until today. I was playing Minecraft and browsing the web when my Edge completely froze and I had to perform a force-shutdown. Whenever I turn on the Edge, it shows the Razer logo and no indication of it loading. After a few minutes a screen then pops up saying the following:
EFI Shell version 2.31 [124554056244.22136]
Current running mode 1.1.2
Device mapping table
b1k0 :BlockDevice - Alias (null)
Acpi (PNP0A03,0)/Pc(1F12)/Sata(0,0,0)
Press ESC in 1 seconds to skip startup.nsh, any other key to continue.
I really need help with this. I do not have a keyboard yet for my Edge so I can't type anything and when I press the keyboard button nothing happens. Any help is appreciated, thanks. -

You can get to the BIOS without a keyboard using the hardware keys.
You need to hold the HOME button then hit the power button, as soon as the green light comes on in the power button let the power go and hit the volume up or volume down key, i cant remember. One is to get to the boot menu and the other is the bios. You have to be pretty quick about this so rest the tablet somewhere where you can manipulate all the different buttons fast as the machine is powering on.
When you get into the BIOS you can use the touch screen or the volume up and down + the Keyboard button to make changes etc.
When that happened to me as you described they wanted to me too restore the machine to factory defaults from within the BIOS. It did not fix my problem sadly but Razer thought it should have. -
My game controller anolog sticks will not work on CS GO. Doesn't anyone else have this problem? The rest of the controller is mapped and works... but the anologs still won't work,
-
Thank you for the details and how to perform this. What do I press after the boot menu/BIOS shows up on the screen?
-
Once in the BIOS you need to head over the last page of the BIOS and click on the Load Factory defaults . Then move up to save and exit and maybe it will fix your issue after it reboots.
-
I was wondering if someone could help me, I suddenly got a very weird issue with the virtual keyboard. The windows key is stuck on the keyboard and it's makes the tablet unusable. I can't even swipe the screen from the right to access the settings menu key. I press it but nothing happens at all. Any ideas as to what exactly is going on??
-
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
Sounds like more of a Windows issue although I've never heard of this problem. Have you tried to repair Windows files? If you can't do that, you might have to request a USB drive from Razer so you can reinstall windows.
-
Has anyone else been able to replace there hdd? All i can think is that maybe because the cloned drive is pathed to \A instead of \C it may be causing some confusion. -
I had problems when I cloned using Acronis:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/razer/714691-razer-edge-edge-pro-owners-lounge-42.html#post9237345
However, I used a thing called minitool and that worked alot better:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/razer/714691-razer-edge-edge-pro-owners-lounge-42.html#post9237676
I had to re-authenticate windows and another program I bought for the Controller, but aside from that, everything worked perfectly. -
Hey guys, sorry to sorta hijack this thread but I might be getting a used Razer Edge Pro soon, but going to meet up with the owner so I get to try it first, is there anything I should look out for in particular ?
-

If it were me, I would ask him to load a game up and play it for at least 15 minutes. Also, make sure the touch screen works and that the specs match up to what you agreed on (Ram and SSD can be swapped out on the Edge). It would also be great if he gave you his original receipt or at least the order number. That would come in handy if you ever need to send it in for repair. Good luck!

Okay , thank you for the advice -
I just upgraded my Edge Pro with a Samsung PM841 512GB mSATA SSD ($394) and an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 wireless card ($26). I had bought an Apricorn EZ Gig IV USB 3.0 adapter and a couple 2.5" to mSATA adapters to make the transfers possible. Along with the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 card, I bought a d-link DIR-868L Wireless-AC router ($150).
I used Syba SY-ADA40050 mSATA adapters. Not a great choice as the posts run into the NAND packages on the bottom of the 512GB SSD, though it fit enough to enable copying. I wouldn't use it long-term, though. The Edge's 256GB SSD fit fine.
The Apricorn software did not work. It didn't even work using a second laptop. It couldn't see the Apricorn USB 3.0 adapter.
What DID work was Macrium Reflect free edition, which ran right from Windows 8. With that, I saw 100-150MB/sec from the internal 256GB to the USB 3.0-connected 512GB mSATA. 40 minutes to copy a nearly-full 256GB SSD to a new SSD.
I don't know what mojo Cablevision put into my cable line, but I've found recently I can hit 94Mbit/sec down and 30Mbit/sec up on a wired connection. With the new 802.11ac card, I get the same speeds on the Edge. I download from Steam at over 10MB/sec on the Edge over wireless. The 802.11ac upgrade obviates the need for the USB GigE adapter I was using for Steam.
The one thing I did not upgrade was the RAM. Only one RAM slot is accessible by opening just the back cover. The other one must be on the other side and I'm not going to dig out the motherboard to change it. The only upgrade I was going to do was replace the DDR3 with DDR3L, but I didn't think the energy savings from 1.35v would be worth the effort of getting to the other side of the motherboard. -

The weird thing was how cheap the AC card was. I was expecting $50 or so, so $26 was a bit surprising. It's only dual antenna (2x2), so maybe that's why. Apparently it's brand, brand new. It's so new it has no Windows 7 drivers yet and the driver download widget on Intel's site doesn't recognize it automatically.
I'm tempted to upgrade my 14" Blade to 802.11ac, but I'll wait for someone else to go inside and get pictures of that rumored second mSATA port. Or I guess I can try to get a better look at the x-ray when I go through airport security on the way to PAX Prime. -
-
-
Antarespro has the PM841 512GB in stock. That's where I bought mine. They have 20 or so left. They also have the 802.11ac-enabled 7260.
Turns out the only thing holding the 14" Blade's bottom on is the ten T5 Torx screws around the edge (no pesky rubber pieces to remove), so I popped it open and there was the unused mSATA port right in the middle, complete with screw, waiting for an mSATA module. I may pick one up.
In other good news, it's the 5.8Ghz that makes the transfer rate possible. Discovered my Tomato-based LinkSys E3200 5.8Ghz was set to green, not mixed. Switched it to Mixed and that fixed the 5.8Ghz problem on that router. Tested the 14" Blade which only has that Killer NIC thing and it sees the same transfer rates as the 802.11ac-equipped Edge. Tried to the D-Link as well and saw about the same. Still, I may upgrade the WiFi on the Blade as I'm not a huge fan of the Killer drivers. -
And... it's gone. Over the weekend all 21 remaining 512GB PM841 mSATA drives sold out at Antarespro. Now the cheapest is $388 at Provantage (but out of stock) and $429 at some place named SeaBoom.

I may have to upgrade sooner rather than later if games keep getting bigger. I just installed Max Payne and it weighs in at 30GBs!
-
I know this has already been asked probably a hundred times, but has there been any news concerning Razer Edge 2? The 2 things stopping me from buying this device at the moment are the battery life (I want to use it to keep track of table top wargamming stats for games that can last 4-5 hours) and lack of a stylus. I doubt the next iteration will include a digitized stylus (though I think it would be great for games) but the battery extension of haswell would be awesome.
-
There does not appear to be a Razer panel at PAX Prime. They do have a booth or two at Gamescom. Maybe we'll hear sooner rather than later.
-
In case anyone is looking, Provantage has the PM841 512GB in stock for $389.
