Good looking out, I'm grabbing one.
-
Nevermind, it went out of stock as I was grabbing one.
-
I had actually tried Provantage first as well. Their site said it was in stock, but when I ordered, I got an email back saying it was backordered. I then replied with an email 'until when?". They replied back with a tentative of 8/19, so I cancelled and ordered from Antarespro. Antarespro didn't even put me in backorder status, but just sent me an email back saying my order was cancelled (even the 7260 wifi card which they show as 'in stock'). So I am just going to wait until real inventory shows up, which I am sure by then, everyone will have it (including more reputable firms such as Newegg).
-
I would put the order in with Provantage and wait on it. I saw the same conflicting data as you did, but mine actually shipped.
Antarespro's notification list didn't seem to work with IE or Chrome. Clicking on the button after entering an e-mail address did nothing. -

They won't release a Razer Edge 2 until 2014 at the absolute minimum.... No earlier... Especially with the holiday season approaching.
The Edge was not really a hot item... Yeah it sold, but it's price makes it a specialty item. They aren't going to refresh the Edge unless they can do so at a cheaper price point. -
As it is, the 3rd gen I-7 is fantastic for what it does and it seems to be more power-user friendly. We'll see little benefit of the integrated hd4200+ series as we have a dedicated GPU for graphic-intensive applications. They are both built on the 22nm architecture, but haswell has better power sipping abilities (throttling) up to almost 40% better battery life (from macbook 2012 to 2013 results). You'll see ~10% better performance while gaming on a haswell, and the whole reason you bought the tablet was for mobile gaming...right?
I agree though, I would LOVE to see better battery performance out of this thing. I use it's tablet capabilities way more often than I thought I would. -
-
I wish they would hurry up and come out with the battery that fits in the controller.
Also, the power cord seems to "fall out" rather easily. Has anyone come up with a clever fix for this? -
Also, the power cord was an intentional design feature by Razer. According to them, this makes it so the cord pops out should someone accidentally trip on it or kick it without pulling the edge out of the user's hands. Personally I think it should be magnetic, but that's asking too much from Razer to design. Also, I think Apple has the patent on that type of plug. -

So it sounds like the next iteration could be available within several months, or not until next year. Do you think it's worth purchasing now? It is definitely the right tablet for me (especially now considering that it looks like the Ativ Q will only come with 4GB single-channel RAM).
Also, I've noticed that the only tablet available through Amazon is the Pro (I'd probably go with the basic and upgrade). And Razer's site itself just says "Notify Me". Is the lack of availability due to an upcoming refresh? Or has this been the way it's always been with the Edge? -

Really awesome thread, loving the Edge Pro. Would anyone be willing to share the recovery stick files in case I run into any problems in the future or decide to sell it on?
Help a European out? Thanks! -
The controller battery has been out of stock everytime I have checked in the past months. And I check it a few times a day.
-
The website will only email you if it's got like 100 in stock and there is no rush. But if one comes in stock or maybe 2... It won't email you. Only way is to try and refresh the page.
Also, get on the backorder list with Amazon or Best Buy... It'll take a while but eventually they do ship the product. -
-
I used a small screwdriver, but just inserted it between the connector and turned the screwdriver to slowly wedge it out (do this on both sides of the connector just a hair at a time though). -

Should I consider ordering the Edge Pro, when available, after having had a Vaio Duo 11 and loving it, but just wanting a little bit higher performance?
I sold my maxed out Duo 11 and got a Duo 13, but ended up having to send it back because of problems. The only thing I didn't like about it was it just wasn't a good size for tablet use, and when sliding it the viewing angle was too tilted back. Though I got a bad one (backlighting on keyboard was dead out of box, backlight bleed and terrible viewing angles on mine, and even tech support couldn't get the auto-brightness adjust to turn off after troubleshooting and resetting). So I sent it back and now am back to a laptop, desktop, and new Nexus 7 for the time being.
I LOVED the performance and battery life on the Duo 13 though. I would re-order one, but the size just wasn't very usable as a tablet, and I am out and about for work and traveling around a lot, so I'm always getting use from a tablet, which the Duo 11 actually was better for minus the battery life.
With that said, could anyone that has used or seen a Duo 11 give an idea of how this would compare as an everyday tablet for size and battery life? Just browsing, streaming some music, youtube videos, cloud-based work, etc...without gaming. I know it's slightly thicker but not as wide or deep, and weighs less, so I'm curious to find out if it's a better option to carry around for my work. I also really liked the 1080p display on the Duo 11, but having a 10.1" I feel like I'd be happy with this...is it comparable to the quality of a Surface RT (having seen it, I'd be fine with something similar at this resolution if it's bright and decent color).
Gaming-wise, I mainly play 3 or 4 multiplayer games (WoW, SC2, and Dota 2), and then mainly play single-player games that I don't even care that much to be demanding. I simply want the best tablet experience with the ability to plug in and game when traveling.
Should I pull the plug the next chance the Edge Pro is available, or hold out for a refresh of the Duo 11 with Haswell? Any other options I should be considering? The i7-4650u with the HD 5000 graphics was running the games I want to play perfectly at 1080p, so I'm sure this would do much better...but I doubt it would even matter at that point and the battery life of the Duo 13 was much better.
So I'm at a tough spot deciding if I should just hold out a few months and see what comes about, or just get the Edge Pro now.
Any insight? -

I had my heart set on getting the Duo 13 until someone told me about some sick deals on a refurbished Duo 11 in the Sony store. I ordered one with the i7 and 256gb SSD for only $853 after tax! It should be here this week and if everything works out, I will pick up an extended battery for it and ditch the surface pro this semester.
Even though the Edge Pro is thicker than a tuna sandwich, it works just fine as a tablet. When I had my first Duo 11, it felt like I was holding a big dinner plate when I tried to use it in tablet mode. I could only imagine how it would feel trying to use the duo 13 as a tablet. The Edge Pro fits much better in my hands. 10.1 inches is the biggest any tablet should be IMO. Anything larger should be called an ultrabook. I have large hands and I still struggle to hit the middle letters on the Surface's 10.6 inch screen.
The screen on the Edge is about as good as the Surface RT and maybe a tiny bit better. The resolution is fine where it is a 1366. Trust me, you don't want a 1080p screen on a 10.1 inch windows tablet. The desktop icons would be too hard to hit unless your fingers are the size of noodles. Also, if you didn't like the battery life on the Duo 11, you won't like the battery life on the Edge Pro. The good thing about the Edge is that a Keyboard dock is supposedly coming out and it should be able to house an external battery. I imagine you should be able to get between 6 and 8 hours when used in laptop mode.
You could always wait a few months and see what comes out. The problem with that is that the waiting game never ends. The Edge Pro is holding it's value pretty well now so you could always just grab the base model and upgrade the SSD and ram. If you decide to sell it, you should be able to get close to what you paid for it. There's no telling when the Duo 11 will get Haswell and there's no guarantee that Sony will even update it to Haswell. I would have thought that if they planned to put Haswell in the 11, they would have announced it back when they announced the Duo 13. -

PM me for the link.

Just played Saints Row 3 on medium settings very well for a few hours last night. The Edge Pro handled it very well... Especially for an open world game.
Framerate only dropped to high 20's once when there were like 20 explosions going off. -
Thanks so much! I'll give it a try when I get home, I can't check dropbox from work. Also, I haven't hit 5 posts yet so I can't pm or use visitor messaging.
-
I was able to download it before, but when trying to extract I get CRC check fails (Both with winrar and 7zip). Would you be so kind to zip/upload again? If storage is an issue I can provide you with some temporary webserver space

Send me your email and I can try to help you. Also, make sure you download the files to a pc. For some reason, I also got those crc errors when I downloaded it to my mac and transferred it to my pc to unzip. Once I downloaded it directly to my pc, I stopped getting the errors.
Once you get it unzipped, format your usb drive to Fat32 and copy the contents of the folder to the thumb drive. -
I got CRC errors from the rar using Windows. I don't know how we can image it.. direct copy doesn't seem to work.

Can Razer edge able to Over clock the GT640LE to 1000MHZ like Sony notebook?

If you need them, batteries are in stock in the Razer store.

Just ordered from Amazon on 8/12, I will post up when the Edge Pro 128gb shows up... ETA was october 1-Nov 13 or so.
Anyone have a link to some detailed instructions for upgrading SSD and/or to 16GB RAM? Thanks! -
So I've been thinking of ordering this soon, any word on when the keyboard may be released?
-
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
I haven't heard anything new about the keyboard although it's supposed to be released this quarter. I also noticed that the microsoft store has the 128gb in stock right now. Accidental coverage is only a extra 100 bucks.

I really need the freaking keyboard dock... I hope they didn't give up on it.

I've sent their CEO a couple of general questions on facebook before and he always responded. When I asked about the keyboard dock, he never replied back =(

I feel like the minute they announced the Razer Blade Pro, the Edge just became an afterthought. I feel like I own some weird unsupported prototype that nobody knows about.
-
-
Can somebody upload an image for recovery? Please!I reinstalled windows 8.My screen and touch controls is upside down!I installed video driver from Razer and had no success!!!
-
It was the price that doomed the Edge from the start. If you think about it, you could have bought a Blade Pro for about what the Edge costs with attachments. Then combine the fact that for months Razer had supply issues and you couldn't buy any of the absolutely essential attachments to make the tablet a gaming device... It was a perfect storm of bad situations.
What's sad is that the Razer Edge will be outdated fairly rapidly as other performance tablets are made. I can see hardware makers cramming more and more stuff into these things to try and give people the ultimate mobile experience.
The Edge gives you choices. If you're not gaming, you can hold it like a tablet on the couch while you watch TV. If you are at your desk, you've got the docking station. It's been able to play all the games I've thrown at it better than the Alienware M11x that I had which just blows my mind. -
I see no competition for the Edge unless another company decides to do an Iris Pro tablet and controller add-on. I hope Razer does one before someone else.
There is nothing else like the Edge. If you're used to using a controller it is the best way to go from home to the road and back, especially after an upgrade to a 512GB SSD and 5.8Ghz wireless. I've been using mine quite a bit. If they announced an all-new model with all-new accessories I would again be up at 3am to pre-order it the moment it goes up on their store page. -

I can see Dell coming out with an Alienware tablet within the next couple of years. Besides them, I can't see any other manufacturers putting a discrete gpu in a tablet. I think most companies will just rely on the tegra 4 and whichever intel integrated gpu is out at the time. A device like the Edge is for a very specific group of consumers. With the money I've spent on everything, I could have built a very beefy desktop or even purchased 2 Nvidia Titans for my current rig.
The appeal of the Edge for me was the controller attachment and being able to play my games virtually anywhere. Every year, I buy tons of steam games and I rarely have time to play them all. Whenever I do have time to sit down at my desktop to play something, I usually dedicate that time to only playing 1 or 2 games (BF3 and COD). With the Edge and controller attachment, I can see myself finally getting through my Steam library within the next year or so. -
Am in the same boat I need a recovery image as my razer is not working I have emailed razer support but they will not send me a recovery stick because I live in england I told them I would pay for the shipping cost but still got a no looks like 1500 pounds wasted gutted at the minute
-
Having owned a GT70, MSI makes some quality gaming rigs for a fraction of what an Alienware or Razer device would cost. I could really see them coming out with a tablet, possibly sooner than Dell. -
