Love the thing to death, I just don't PC game enough anymore to justify it.

I do a lot of recording with Garageband / Logic on my MacBook and iPad so I find myself using it less and less since I don't PC game much anymore.

Other than that I love the thing to death, console mode rocks for emulators with friends and MAME (four xbox controllers!). Gamepad controller has made great LAN trips to play BF3 and Crysis 3. I played through Bioshock Infinite, Dishonored, Metro Last Light on my living room couch with my wife while she watched TV and did couponing on her laptop so it's been a great way to get untied from a TV or desk.

I'm having an issue that hopefully you guys can help me with. I recently purchased my Razer Edge Pro along with the Gamepad controller about two weeks ago. Everything was going fine and working perfectly for several days and then I noticed the game controller would sporadically drop its connectivity while in game. When this would happen I unlatched the attachment popped the Edge out popped it back in and I was good to go. This happened several times until one day (after it dropped connectivity) it completely lost all responsiveness and buttons did not light up. (With the exception of back panel light). I figured I had a defective gamepad and took it back and was given a new one. Problem solved..... or at least I thought. 4 days later my 2nd controller has now apparently died after exhibiting the exact same symptoms. I haven't heard of anyone having this particular problem with their gamepad, let alone with two separate units. Any thoughts....or is this just plain bad luck? Under the device manager I have noticed an unknown device which I assume is the gamepad. Ive tried to "update driver software" but windows cannot locate locate them. Ive even uninstalled this unknown device but as soon as I try to connect the edge back into the gamepad accessory it returns as unknown device. Any help or suggestion you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone know if the keyboard dock is vaporware or what? I get the disturbing feeling they have scrapped the peripheral.

They should seriously just start a kickstarter or some other funding to release the damn keyboard dock, or someone else should make a good one and do so. I would gladly pay up to a couple hundred or so if it is well designed and of good quality. Which it should be based on the design of the Edge itself.

Since it's getting really close to CES, they will probably release it around then along with the Edge update (assuming they have one planned which I think is likely at this point).

Too much waiting especially for the refresh and the *%@*^^% keyboard. If the refresh comes at CES when might it be available?

A few pages back someone identified the keyboard dock owners manual updated onto the support page for the edge
    Razer Edge Keyboard Dock Guide.

I don't think they would update the support page for a product they plan on scrapping

I am guessing a week before Thanksgiving as the launch date. 11/22/2013????

    Still holding my breath..

Maybe the dock will be out by Black Friday. The refresh is unlikely to appear then?

Very Long time lurker and now a proud owner of a Razer's Edge Pro. I bought the 128gb model with the TV/Monitor dock and the recovery usb stick (very big lifesaver) from a guy on Amazon for a very good price (too good to be true). It was a deal i couldn't pass up and fortunately my wife was very understanding to make a purchase that big. Unfortunately some of my other tech toys had to be sold to afford it but it was well worth it. I recently just replaced the internal wifi card with the Intel 7260 AC card and wow what a difference. I plan on replacing the ram with the 16gb Corsair vengeance but if anyone has any suggestions about which Ram to use in this system that would be helpful. I also want to replace the msata ssd drive but that is a little more pricey and will have to wait for now. I am very happy with the system so far and even without some of the extras this was a great buy.

Glad you like it. I can't help with the ram/ssd yet because I haven't upgraded mine but I'm sure someone else here will know what's best.

Also, Min-Liang just tweeted that the keyboard dock will be available "shortly".

I assume shortly would mean by the end of this year. But that's just wishful thinking frankly. And no official anything on the keyboard dock has been given. Aside from the weird instruction manual someone found online.

I cannot get my Razer Edge Pro - that is now running windows 8.1 - to launch Windows Media Centre when I have the tablet docked (in the Docking Station) and connected to my TV or monitor via a HDMI cable. It is a weird issue as I can:
    1. Run any other app just fine whilst connected to a TV/monitor via HDMI
    2. Launch and run Windows Media Centre just fine when I do NOT have the dock connected to the TV/monitor via HDMI. This includes using network tuners (HDHomeRun) to watch live tv ... all is good until I plug in the HDMI cable
    3. Launch and run Windows Media Centre just fine when I have the dock connected to my monitor using a HDMI-to-DVI cable, but unfortunately my TV does not have a DVI port

Specifically, after launching Windows Media Center I get an error dialog that say "Windows Media Center has stopped working" with no more useful info - and so Windows Media Center then shuts down. Has anyone tried to use their razer edge with Windows Media Center like this? I am wondering if this an Windows 8.1 issue, so very keen to hear if anyone has this working on Windows 8.

It could be an 8.1 issue. Have you tried XBMC or VLC media player? That's all i use and those work just fine for me.

The only place I've ever seen it sold was the official Razer site and it's currently out of stock (along with almost everything else Edge related). Your best bet is to periodically refresh the site since they won't send you a notification email if they only get a few in stock.

If they have a refresh this year I'm going to be sad. I've only had mine since September and the only two things I'd care about would be battery life (at least a 50% increase) and if it was 25% or better increase in performance for games, maybe it would be worth it but not to upgrade from my current one unless it sells for upwards of $1000. If the size was significantly smaller, then it'd be nice, but I'd want it to work with the current accessories so maybe that wouldn't change.

Should I consider just selling now if a refresh is coming soon? Any actual word on this or is it just people speculating or hoping?

That's weird, wonder if it's a driver issue? I'll check it when I get home though I rarely use WMC myself, i prefer Media Player Classic that comes with the k-lite codec pack. Do you have your display setup for mirroring or for extended monitor?

Most are expecting a refresh at some point but there have been no announcments of any sort, I can see Haswell helping with battery life a lot. Hold on to yours for now becuase you never know if we ever do see a new model.

Has any one been able to use WiDi with Windows 8 on their Edge? If so, could you please let me know if an Intel Centrino 6235 and a WiDi receiver on the TV is all the extra hardware required. What software, etc. is required for getting it to work? Thanks.

Hi guys I need some help with my Razer Edge Pro 128. Please help me with these questions

    1) The wifi is horrible, can someone show me or point me how to replace the wifi card? Is it easy?
    2) I am playing Batman Origins. For some reason, I can't say the PQ is that great. There is lots of stuttering. My edge is even upgraded to 16gb. I also have the most recent drivers etc. Any suggestions? I have everything basically turned off.

    Thanks!

I upgraded my wifi to the 6235 and purchased the Netgear PVT3000. The miracasting worked just fine. I was even able to stream my phone's screen to the widi device, pretty cool stuff if you don't already have a smart TV. You will experience input lag so if you are looking to play game with this, I'd advise you to look elsewhere, as widi is not quite there (at least with these processors). I hear the haswell processors have been able to get the delay lag down to ~40ms which is incredible for a wifi solution but still pretty bad for most gaming applications. If you are looking for a wireless solution for playing your media files then it's not a bad cheap solution.

It surprises me that many people still use WMC for their media center viewing. I personally run a Plex Media server on my network as well as broadcast for web streaming anywhere. Plex - A Complete Media Solution

Once your server is running you can view all of your music and movies via the plex app in the windows store and that app only costs $4.99
Plex app for Windows in the Windows Store

The experience on my Razer Edge Pro is fantastic. As the storage space is limited not having to keep movies local and having access to my entire library (WiFi at home and Mobile Hot spot on the go) is awesome.

I still use WMC on my home machine and I stream live/recorded comcast tv to 4 xbox 360s. I'm still bummed that the Xbox one doesn't support WMC and I would be surprised if Windows 9 still supported it.

I upgraded my Edge to Windows 8.1 following Razer's instructions. While the upgrade worked, I've lost updated versions of both nVidia and Intel's graphics drivers, and nVidia's GeForce Experience no longer runs (appcrashes abound in the Event Viewer).

Any word on when this might be fixed? I've already sent Razer a mail requesting a USB stick to restore the Edge to Windows 8, but if there are fixes on the horizon or available now I could go that route.

That's funny you mention plex, I just finished setting up my plex media server on my old-school zotac running windows 7 pro. While windows runs sluggishly, the media streaming is flawless. I was running Serviio and PS3media server and both can't compare to the codecs and reliability not to mention the media database that plex uses. Highly recommended. Now if only I could connect my home plex to my web plex... my router isn't forwarding the port like I should...

I like the mockup they have already. I also like how they're licensing the technology, we'll be seeing some more fully-capable APUs. I still doubt we'll bee seeing anything longer than 2.5 hrs of gaming out of a tablet (this thing is capable of it) but the market is about to be flooded with competition in the next year or so. Congrats to Razer for pulling an Apple and creating their own "gaming tablet" market.

Do you know if a USB-to-HDMI converter may be a better way than the 6235-PVT3000 method? Which do you think would result in better video on a TV?

Probably depends on what your intentions are. I've only used USB to VGA devices before, and they were 2.0 devices at that. Those were incredibly laggy, and if you were looking to watch video on it, you're better off with the netgear (and it's tiny too!) I've looked into usb 3.0 port replicators for work and the reviews are a mixed bag. I've also looked into external gpu solutions and so far no one has found a 3.0 device that fits their needs. 3.0 has a higher bandwidth capability but nowhere near a full pci-e speeds. Honestly, I would stick with the widi for movies and general screen replication/extension. For gaming, you'll have to plug in directly via hdmi. Maybe there's a 3.0 capture card that can do what you're looking for (at a higher cost from what I remember about them.) Can anyone else with more knowledge on the subject chime in?

Maybe I just haven't seen anything but can you tell us more about whats coming?

You can change settings on your card to take away some of its inherent suck. Turn off its "n" functionality and just have it use b/g.
