I did it on mine and I dropped from around 20down/3up to 5down/1up. Though I am not even using the built-in card anymore, I impulse bought an adapter at a closing Office Depot for $30 and it's actually a well reviewed model (Linksys AE3000)...if I leave the settings default for that it gets me 35down/6up, so obviously the built-in card just isn't going to perform no matter what I do. I've tweaked all kinds of settings on it and my router.

Signing in to say that I am a proud new owner of a 256 GB Razer Edge.
I purchased one off the shelf at Best Buy. I already had a stand an a USB Wireless keyboard, and I ordered a USB 3.0 hub and a neoprene case.
What case is everyone using for this thing? I got this one:
Amazon.com: FlexARMOR X Protection Padded Neoprene Sleeve Carrying Case Cover for Razer Edge Pro (RZ09) 10.1-inch Gaming Tablet & Portable PC - Includes Capacitive Stylus: Computers & Accessories
I also have a 64 GB USB 3.0 thumb drive that I'll use to store games, movies, etc. so I should have around 300 GB of usable capacity.
Now I just need some black electrical tape to cover up that fugly Razer logo on the back of this thing... -
Does anyone know where I can get the extended battery pack?
Or maybe an 3rd party that will work? -
tictac80: Do you still have the extended battery pack?

Congrats on the purchase! I've been rocking an old sleeve that I used for my touchpad. I really wish I could get some sort of folio case but the only one I know of it is the expensive one that comes with the bluetooth keyboard.
The only place I've ever seen it for sale is the official razer store and it's been sold out for quite a while. Your best chance to get one is to either get lucky on eBay or keep hoping that Razer puts more on their website. -
Found a new toy for our edge tablets!
(Its also on steam greenlight)
Ive only used it on Path of Exile so far, but it works great for that game.

Well, at last i have my Razer Edge Pro, only missing the extended battery but i will get it hopefully next week.
And for me is like a handheld PC to play emulators.
I made a video playing some emulators:

Yes, I do still have it. Actually I was going to sell it on eBay, starting at $200 plus shipping. I know that's way over its original cost but it's a "supply-and-demand" issue.
Let me know if you're interested at all. -
Been looking for something like this, cheers for the link, I wil check it out tonight.
-
Hi guys,
Does anyone have a link to the recovery media?
For some reason I can't get back into the bios to reformat after upgrading to windows 8.1
(I have the USB stick from them. The thing just isn't working to boot from. And I can't pull up the bios via del/f1, nor can I get a boot select screen)
Thanks!
PS: The 'hold home, hold power to green light, release power, tap Vol up', isn't working either.
Also, does anyone have the normal idle temps from OpenHardware monitor for the edge pro? -
Sorry mate, thats too expensive.
-
This is exactly why I've bought one of these!
only 3 more weeks until it arrives though
Can you do a PCSX2 video?Last edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015thetruth1983 likes this. -
Time crisis 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament are from PCSX2.

Do we have any hints that the refresh will be announced at CES? While I am beating a dead equine, what about the keyboard dock, the year has about a month to go?
-
How the f*ck is this system so unstable?
The gamepad wasn't recognised by the Tablet and i almost got crazy until i downloaded a firmware updater from the Razer web and it was recognised again.
Wifi signal doesn't work at times and i have to uninstall the wireless card and restart to make it work again.
Incredible that such an amazing system have this problems. -
Hello everyone
I just got myself a 128GB Razer Edge Pro. Ya I know, there could be a new model coming out in CES in January, but I got it used for a fairly good price (under $1000).
This thing is fantastic. Never lags, runs brand new games from Steam like a champ, and in the end it's a tablet that you can carry around anywhere in a small bag.
However, after just installing a few games, the tablet is almost full! 128GB seems too small for any serious fill-up gaming.
I know the storage is replaceable. But can someone give me a link to the type of storage I can buy and replace? And can anyone sort show a tutorial of how to replace it and reinstall windows? -
Just FYI it's available ftom the MS store for $999(128GB model)

Pretty darn good savings -
Ugh, literally had the thing for two months and could have saved $300. Now was trying to sell it since the keyboard dock hasn't been available and I'd rather just use the money for upgraded parts on my desktop. This isn't gonna help sell it :-(
-
I wonder for that price is it worth gettimg now versus the alleged upgrade amybe in 6 months or more? It would be easier if Razer actually released the keyboard dock.
-
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
If you don't already have one now, I would wait to see what Razer announces at CES. I would bet that we would probably see a refresh then along with the release of the keyboard dock. -

Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reading over the page, it says that it includes bluetooth technology. I wonder what it's used for. -
You guys think it'll be compatible with the new possible Edge model? If so, I'll just preorder it now before it goes out of stock like crazy.
EDIT: As for bluetooth, bluetooth controllers maybe? I have no clue. -
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
I honestly don't know but if it doesn't, you could always resell it on eBay. I learned my lesson before about preorders with Razer: If you don't don't preorder for the first batch, you will be waiting a loooooooooooooooooooong time until it comes back in stock.Joker13z likes this. -
You know what you're right. I better hit that preorder button now before I regret it later. Thanks!

Does anyone have experience optimizing NBA 2K to play on the Edge? I just got mine and I only get like 30 fps on 1366x768. Am I doing something wrong or is that about what I should expect.
I turned V-Sync off btw. -
Hello ,
I am new to the forum and a relatively new EDGE PRO owner (Since June 2013). I have started to notice bright 1/2 inch spots near the center and right top corner of the screen. These spots are only really visible when viewing a blank or light colored page. I have contacted support and they started a file and requested my unit info and pics. They also stated that according to my description of the issue most likely the unit required repair or replacement. I was reading the limited warranty and it stated that small visual abnormalities are excluded from the warranty. Has anyone else had this issue and what if anything was done to remedy the issue? Am I asking for troubles if I do in fact send the unit in? By this I mean is there going to be a big bill attached $$$$$$$
Thanks everyone in advance -
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
I think the part of the warranty that you are referring to is regarding dead pixels. Some companies don't cover dead pixels unless it's over a certain amount. The spots you describe does not sound normal so I don't see why they wouldn't replace it for free. -
Speaking of frame rates for certain games, would be great if there was a dedicated website for the razer edge, so that people could discuss how to get the best performance out of each game or what FPS they got for this game etc.
I remember there were sites like this for previous small gaming laptops (i think the first real one in thsi field was an asus 10.1 inch laptop which had a dedicated nvida car, people would be posting how to get the best performance for Fallout 3, there were videos showing people playing call of duty 4 etc etc).
This thread is great though, and probably the only source of information for this products, but would be good if there was a subthread for this for gaming or custom add ons etc -
I would hope something appears at CES. It is has been too long for the refresh of the unit. Assuming both are announced when should they be available?
-
Too long? It's only been out for just over 8 months.
The Edge is not a fully bespoke product. It has SoDIMM slots like the first two Blade generations. I would expect a refresh announcement no earlier than CES and a move to a fully bespoke motherboard with soldered-on RAM. to free up space for a bigger battery. I just hope they don't change the form factor. Kinda sucks to have to buy all-new peripherals. -
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
I've spent at least 750 on accessories (2 docks, gamepad, keyboard dock, extra charger, and extended battery) so I will be pretty pissed if the whole system has been redesigned and the current accessories are useless on the new system. Whatever design we see, it's pretty much expected to have Haswell along with a 7xxm GPU. -
For those that don't know. The Keyboard dock went on Pre-order for Cyber Monday. $199.99 with free shipping. Distribution begins on 12/10/13
I got mine pre-ordered

Has anyone looked at the videos of the keyboard dock and compared them to whats on the site? Will it still have the awkward band to keep it closed?
see at 2:45 Razer Edge gaming tablet hands-on video - YouTube
That unit also appeared to have no usb ports or a glowing Razer logo as the one listed on the site shows. Maybe it just took them awhile to nail the design after the dock and controller. As it stood back in CES 2013
it was not ready for primetime. -
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
They did say that the one at CES was a prototype. I wonder how the dock stays closed since the band is missing and it's not even mentioned in the manual. I also wish it had a hdmi port but oh well, I still ordered one anyway. -
The pics on the site look a little slimmer (or more tapered at the edges at least) than that video so hopefully they did make it sleeker or simply thinner. And from the looks of it there are three ports (I'm assuming charging port and 2 USBs).
I pre-ordered, but I still think it's a bit too thick looking and wish they'd have offered an alternative slim power keyboard cover similar to what the Surface has gotten but with a back stand of some sort that flips out. Though I'll have to get it to really judge, and of course I'll use it since it's the only official option. -
If you look through all of the pics it looks like there is an actual hinge now and also on the top and bottom sides there are little indents that look like they'd snap together for support when closed, so maybe it opens and closes similar to a regular laptop now.
-
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
I hope so because it would suck if it just flapped around. I'm also still curious about the bluetooth in the dock. I wonder if we could connect the tablet via bluetooth and put it in the tv dock while typing on the keyboard dock. I think the new Surface keyboard does something similar. -
Are you referring to the pre-ordered dock for $199 when you mentioned there is NO HDMI port?
-
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
Yep. Unless I'm missing something, there are only 2 usb ports and the power port. -
I wouldn't call it a hinge.
The top rubber piece that holds the tablet is connected to the keyboard base with a piece of material. (If opened the two pieces would flop around)
You slot the top into the base via a magnet that holds the screen upright.
You cannot change the viewing angle once in the magnetic slot.
It is held closed by two slots on the keyboard base that match to two hooks on the rubber top. (Waiting for next week to see how robust this is and how well it will hold closed.)
Only 2 USB 2.0 ports one on each side. I am assuming they didn't go 3.0 as it is a limitation of their proprietary power/data port (Same issue on the console dock)thetruth1983 likes this. -

What you described is essentially a hinge though, and I wasn't saying it allows you to change the viewing angle...but it does allow you to actually swing the device closed (it appears). Compared to what I've seen in a video before where it looked like it basically went from sitting on the keyboard and being strapped down to simply sitting in the slot like an iPad keyboard dock where you go from flat in case position to standing up tablet. Maybe my perception of it was just different then, but the back definitely looks different from the prototype.
-
Awaiting a review of the keyboard dock. A fixed viewing angle might be unusable for me. I suppose I should play with one to check it out before the refresh.
-
I'm kind of disappointed from Razer about the keyboard. They want people to pre-order this item, but yet fail to include any information about it.
The design has changed from the prototype, and they said in the past it'll include 2 USB ports and a battery pack. From the images, it seems thinner than the prototype, so is there still a battery pack inside, or what?
To be honest, while it's cheaper than the $249 gamepad controller, $199 is still a lot for just a keyboard and a couple of extra USBs. There are whole chromebook laptops for that price
But please Razer, give me some info to convince me to buy this thing. -
I just ordered the Edge Pro (256GB) during the Cyber Monday sale- I didn't realize how soon CES was. I wonder if I should consider a return...I'm not in dire need of a gaming book at the moment since I have my desktop, but wanted the mobility. In any case I don't want to have the return period pass as a new model is revealed...I wonder how long it would take to come to market. Anyone have advice?
-
Past due for a refresh and uncertainty as to where Razer stands on this product with difficulty getting accessories just my opinion unless you got one killer deal that felt like a once in a lifetime deal... send it back and wait.
-
That is one of my concerns, if this is a one shot product with no subsequently more advanced models coming.
