Eh. A poor keyboard is still a poor keyboard regardless of price. There are $20 keyboards on Amazon with bad reviews. A solid keyboard would have meant a sure buy for the Edge 2 for me.

Sort of dissapointed about user reviews of the keyboard, after taking forever to release you would think they re-worked it a bit for improvements it but it seems they just rushed and made a half assed one.
A simple type/touch cover that locks on magnetically like the MS Surface would have been better idea and probably cheaper too.
    $200 = no thanks

With the amount of time it took for Razer to release this case, I just don't see them releasing another one any time soon even if we are expecting to see the Edge 2 at CES. This keyboard could have been a lot better especially when we consider the price.

No, it doesn't drop when on 5Ghz. I need 5Ghz because without it I can't get decent throughput over wireless.

I just installed the same card in my Blade R2 and it's downloading from Steam at around 10MB/sec (I have 100Mbit/30Mbit from my ISP). So far no disconnects, same as my Edge.

I get the feeling the next Edge will require all-new peripherals, or at the very least different keyboards. The keyboard we got is limited in material options because of how big the tablet is. If they make the Edge 2 half the thickness that may help with the situation. As it stands the keyboard provided is only really good in a pinch.

I bet this probably has been answered already in this thread, but I can't seem to find it so here goes:

Can the Razer Edge play non-touch supported games, such as Total War games or any RTS, without using the dock? I mean: is there a mouse emulation software for the touch display so I could use the mouse cursor using only my hands?

    Thanks :)

If the space bar doesn't register if you don't press it firmly in the middle, then the keys are not fine - these statements are contradictory. Most typists who didn't grow up on typewriters tend to hit the leading edge of the space bar, and I've never used a retail chicklet or normal keyboard that doesn't register that press before. I've had this issue with a evaluation unit of a specialty sealed keyboard that was about $150, and that is exactly why my institution didn't buy it. :)

If you are having issues with this, please be sure to provide feedback to Razer, even if they don't really seem to provide appropriate response. One of Razer's longstanding issue is a disconnect between support and manufacturing, and the users have to make them aware of the problem if you ever want to see a fix.

Yeah, I used to have an MSI GT70 with steel-series keyboard and it never registered the space bar press unless you clicked dead center. It was probably the most annoying thing possible, and rendered the GT70 returned, haha. Having just one input for the space bar dead center is just lazy cost-cutting, and for $200, I would expect more.

That's pretty much how I have to use this one to work reliably, but that's not good on the fingers and slower for me. Wearing it out faster won't help anything either. :)

We are probably better off calling them out on facebook or twitter. Judging from the response they sent to the guy on the last page, going through support might be useless. Since the keyboard is so cramped, I've found it easy to adjust my placement and just hit the space bar in the middle. This still shouldn't be the case and someone with much smaller hands than me will still have problems.

That person was me actually. I responded (not happily admittedly, I'm trying to catch my breath on this thing, it just really bugs me that they did this after so many months) and they then said it would need repair or replacement, but if a fair number of the keyboards have the problem I really don't want to spend time and money on shipping the keyboard back and forth - it cost too much as it is. I'd like to see Razer actually admit the problem and fix it, but I don't think they are inclined to do so based on past products. I don't actively use facebook or twitter, so that I'd leave to you. I plan to write my full review of the Edge system on Amazon when I get time and can detail the issues with a clear head.

In my case it's precisely because my hands are larger and fingers long that it is difficult to hit the space bar square in the center - my thumb doesn't sit that far up/over naturally so it cramps my hand to do so consciously. But I've used even more cramped portable keyboards over the years and managed to get by - the keys not working reliably throws that off though.

Anyone know how to turn off the keyboard wake when attached to the keyboard case? I've turned off all three keyboards in the power management tab within hardware but my edge still turns on in my bag. Luckily I knew it had turned on because my bluetooth headphones wouldn't connect to my phone but instead to my edge.

Not to add further to the negative reviews of the keyboard....but this keyboard is a pain in the !

just got the keybord dock today. I'm finding that I have to press fairly hard to get the keyboard to register keypresses.

Seems like the screen is held in place by magnets... which I think is a nice touch.

The screen only docks in a total 90 degree angle with the keyboard, and that's going to take some getting used to.

Overall though, the keyboard feels good even if it is a bit cramped. I have a feeling the keyboard just needs to be broken in.

Despite the shortcomings of the keyboard, I've noticed that my Edge is getting much more use now that I have it. I can use it really well in my lap but not being able to see the keys in the dark sucks. I've installed the extended battery in the dock and I don't see any issues with the edge tipping over backwards unless I actually try to tip it.

With the recent disappointment with the keyboard attachment (which i chose not to buy now after hearing the reviews) i just wanted to say im still overall happy with my razer edge pro.

There are a few things that would of made this product prefect e.g. built in HMDI, a fold out stand and keyboard similar to the surface pro.

Even with these shortcomings, i had thought about getting a surface pro 2, but for pure gaming, the Razer still beats the tablet competition.

I do hope they continue to support the razer edge and hopefully other companies will eventually provide a better keyboard alternative (only one I have seen so far is the $100 folio one, still tempted).

    devices.jpg

Did a devices search for power wake up and there are none listed because I've turned off everything. When I fold the edge within the case as a laptop, there is enough flex to press the top to one of the keys and the edge turns on. This is really bad because I have it in a case in my bag, and the heat is enough to probably damage something since the hot air has no where to go and it gets pretty hot!

    device wake up.jpg

Did a search on the last device to wake my edge and it indicates a USB Root Hub, which is listed under the Razer keyboard device. No option to uncheck the box to not wake the device. Are you guys having the same problem? What happens when you close the edge/keyboard, and then press it together in between your fingers, does your edge wake up?

Wasn't Razer supposed to allow us to customize the extra buttons on the Gamepad? Has anyone heard anything new regarding that? The top left button on my gamepad is starting to get stuck so will have to send it in for repair.

    Hey guys. Couple things-

In the 'reporting in' category, I preordered my keyboard dock immediately like many of you. It disappeared off Fedex's tracking system for 3 days and just resurfaced this afternoon one state over so hopefully I'll get to be disappointed by it tomorrow. At least they left in the extra battery slot, right?

Now for a question. A while ago, I tried installing 8.1 without the aid of any guide (it's Windows, should just be point and click right?) and soft bricked it. After receiving the recovery drive, I went back to regular 8 and sat there for a spell. The other day, I thought I might try again but for some reason I can't get into the bios. I've tried the home + volume keys and mashing every function key, escape, and delete on a usb attached keyboard to no avail. What's the trick to this? I'd really like to get 8.1 installed (right-side up)- at this point it's a matter of honour!

I have a postal scale that's fairly accurate. The dock by itself is 1 pound 11 ounces and the total with the extended battery is 2 pounds 5 ounces.

Why are you returning yours? I'm actually torn on whether or not I will return it. Even after using it for the past few days, I just can't get used to how small the keys are and how close they are together. I also can't type as fast as I can on other keyboards. If I try to type my normal speed, I miss key presses. All the keys work but it seems that they require a lot more pressure than a normal keyboard. I'm also curious as to why the keyboard isn't backlit. Someone could argue that it was left out to save battery life but I don't think that's the case since the gamepad is backlit and supports rumble.

On the other hand, I know that this will probably be the only keyboard solution for the Edge in the near future. The case makes carrying the Edge more convenient and the USB ports are useful. Still, that's not enough to justify 200 bucks.

Oh and is anyone having trouble with their USB ports? I find that my USB powered hard drive will turn on but not run when connected to the keyboard. I've tried charging my phone using the keyboard ports and it charges veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow.

Do not hope to find that kind of help here. Nobody shares her recovery key.

Fortunately it is possible to reboot the system using the Linux menu on the edge. Press F12 before the boot and reset all the data.

I have recover my Edge and instale a new version of win 8 using a externe DVD player and now I have a new Edge with 480g HD. (All the drivers can be find on the razer web site).

Enjoy to your Edge was open to replace the thermal paste on the motherboard and graphics card. In doing that I have win almost 1 hour of autonomy.

I'm not going to return mine. The usefulness of being able to carry my Edge around like a laptop more than outweighs the inconvenience of the tiny keyboard.

As far as USB ports go, I doubt they're as powerful as a desktop USB port. I've tested both of mine with my Naga mouse and Megalodon and they work just fine. I wouldn't try to charge my phone or anything with them though...

As far as updates go... My Edge used to rest in the keyboard "groove" at a strict 90° angle when I first snapped it in. After several days, it seems the Edge has developed a more natural slant. It is now much easier to read and see. I don't know if it was just the plastic flexing a little or what, but I'm not complaining.

Could the USB power be correlated to whether you are using the extended battery?
I agree that this keyboard dock maybe all that will be available. We may have to just live with it?

A few pages back I pretty much explained my reasoning. I just don't need it in a laptop form unless it's a high quality keyboard to play games...and it's not. I have a Logitech K810 and the dock when I travel for setup and that works great for me. When I'm actually out and about using it as a tablet is about all I need. If the keyboard had backlighting, was thinner, or came with the extended battery, I'd prob consider keeping it, but for the price and lack of features while being a pretty s****y actual keyboard dock, I won't use it.

I took it home for the holidays, which is a long trip, and I didn't even take it out of my bag on the plane because I knew it would just annoy me. I've been using the docking station and a bluetooth mac keyboard since I've been home, and it's much better to use than the keyboard dock. The funny thing is I set the mac keyboard on top of the keyboard dock and the keys actually fit over the same area as the Razer keyboad dock...so the size of the keys is total BS, and the lack of travel is pathetic.

I do like the way they set up the magnets for it closing and the thickness for protection feels secure, but other than that it just won't get use from me.

Well I've had my extended battery installed since I got it and I've been having problems. I don't know if it's the way it's designed or if I have a faulty unit. For example, I have a usb powered monitor (model MB168B+) that I carry with me. It will not work if it's plugged into either of the keyboards ports. It will only power on if it's plugged directly into the Edge. I can plug the monitor into the Edge and the receiver from my logitech mouse into the keyboard. If I plug in my phone or beats pill into the other usb port, the logitech receiver will completely shut off.

Reseted mine, now it is much better without Razer core crap lol. Clocked gpu, turned turbo mode on with battery and this damn thing flies lol Played Mortal Kombat with pretty much everything on and touch controls thanks to Gesturegameplay, magnificent experience i say. But there is some weird issue about volume buttons, while watching movies from external hard drive turning down or up volume through buttons turns device off lol Whatever only like hardware side of this thing software is complete crap.

I'm having issues having the auto rotate function working on my edge. The lock button doesn't seem to be engaged at all as well. I tried to download some drivers off the razer site but I don't see any that fit what I require.

I've gone through all of the control panel options and there are only options to manually do it. Also the sensor on the front near the camera doesn't work so when I fold the edge in the keyboard dock, the screen doesn't turn off/suspend or react at all. Any help would be great thanks.

Does anyone know of any place that has the gamepad in stock? A friend of mine got an Edge for Christmas but we can't seem to find any of the accessories in stock except for the dock. My friend also just showed me a video where the CEO said that the Edge isn't getting Haswell anytime soon so I wonder why it seems the accessories are so hard to find.

Unfortunately, it's not available to be shipped and none of the stores close to me have it in stock.

I've overclocked the GPU to 630/1095 with MSI afterburner and wow! the PC games gain 20 to 25 % in fps.And the temperature barely rises thanks to the back cover removed.
This is the best system i have ever had.

Dirt 2 almost maxed out at near 50 fps!!!

That's cool is it possible to run games with the back plate on, when over clocked?

Always have the back plate removed so i don't know, but the temperatures of CPU and GPU never reach 80ºc.

I am curious. How many run the Edge or Edge Pro with the back off all the time? None of you have problems with dust and other matter getting inside?

    Well that sucks!
I was hoping for some news from CES for some sort of update but I can live with SB, hopefully they can at least upgrade to GPU.
