I just use an external HDD, though I can see 128 GB being a limiting factor. I'm still browsing around trying to find a battery solution. The game controller isn't even that great and i'm not sinking another 250$ just so i can purchase a battery (69$) which I would then possibly need multiple of.
So far no real luck, there's no portable laptop charger with an actual outlet, kind of depressing.

An external HD wouldn't work for me since I want to play games in bed with no wires dangling around. I wish that Razer would have put a card reader on it so that would be an alternative to installing games.

The vast majority of games can be installed and moved around without breaking, especially steam games if you know what you're doing. What I did with my older laptop is add and remove folders from the program files folder and swap out different games depending on what I plan on playing. Works pretty well most of the time.

I've been thinking about this when I was considering the 64gb model. Sure the i7 is faster but I don't know how many FPS will be lost when going from the i7 to the i5. I do know that most games don't use more than 4GB ram and that 1GB vram should be enough when gaming at 1366. I wish we could see some benchmarks of the low end against Pro. I already have a Surface Pro so the Edge for me would be for gaming with the controller attachment only. If I could save $500 and get the base model then I'm all for it (assuming that I can easily move games around like you say).

Thank you for contacting RazerStore.
Unfortunately we are still not selling the battery of our Razer Edge and there is no ETA.
What we are selling is the extended battery pack.
Extended Battery Pack for the Razer Edge - Gaming Accessories - Razer United States
I will let our products team know that you were interested.
So you never know what might happen in the future.
For those interested, this is the reply when I inquired about buying an additional battery pack. -
The 64GB version has less than half rhat available for games. It's a joke. -

I'm still holding out for my 256 model... Just talked to a rep and he says they may have a batch coming in "soon" .... whatever "soon" means -
Anyone get a cool case for their edge? I'm trying to find one. Also any takers on the 64gb version i am also curious on the benchmarks on gaming.
Bestbuy canceled my order saying something about unable to process due to my bank (I think they ran out but still haven't updated the online store info). However luckily Amazon had a few in stock and had no problems with my card...
At the moment there was 1 256 up but that was gone before the webpage finish loading. They still have 2 128gb as of 9pm est due for May 2 if you choose the fastest delivery. -

Well I finally made up my mind and pre-ordered the 256gb from Bestbuy. I don't mind waiting since it's probably going to be weeks before more gamepads come in stock. The 64gbs have been selling out too so there should be some benchmarks out there (although I have not seen even one). I decided to go with the 256 so I won't have to worry about storage. Hopefully it ships before the wife finds out =)

seriously, bestbuy must hate me right about now...or at least is probably growing tired of me. i had a preorder for the 256gb through them, then when i started getting the 'your order will be canceled if not completed by 4/30', when razer had another batch of the 256gb for sale on their site, i canceled, and tried to order with razer only to find that they are no longer accepting paypal for larger orders for whatever reason (purchased my r2 blade via razer store and paypal around nov or so) i tried to go back and order the 256gb from bestbuy but it was sold out at that point. so then i ordered the 128gb. then decided i really wanted to wait for the 256, and canceled. then saw the post about getting the 128 and then returning it within the 60 days for being a reward zone silver member, and reordered the 128gb. just got an email earlier today that it was shipping to my local store and should be there by the 2nd or 3rd. then saw the 256gb is avail for preorder again on bestbuy, canceled the 128gb order again and ordered the 256gb. here's hoping they dont cancel me for lack of shipping again. they just sent an email saying it was going to be delayed till between the 6th and 16th, so well see i guess.

on a side note, someone had posted a link to an ebay auction for a blade that was upgraded as far as ssd goes. Ive been looking for a while, and havnt found any info. does anyone know if there has been a teardown of this thing yet? my main quesion is whether its using an msata ssd or an actual 2.5" sata like the blade is. (technically the blade has both i know, but i meant the HDD part)

I haven't seen a teardown yet but it looks like it's using msata

Nice. I hope that day holds up. Does anyone know if Bestbuy ever carried the accessories (dock and gamepad) or were those only available through Razer and Amazon? I prefer to buy from Bestbuy if possible so I can get my reward zone points.

My power button is stuck I have to wiggle it around to turn on off and sleep mode, which in sleep mode it doesn't always work. When reviewers said it was thick OOOOHHH man is it ever lol. You can forget about finding a universal case because for the most part you won't.
It doesnt have windows activated so I had to do it manually which is no biggie just a minor annoyance. While activating this my touch screen stop working completely. Had to restart it thats when i noticed my power button wasn't flush.... UGH this is whyI hate ordering things online I'm usually one of the unlucky electronic shoppers.
Sending it back today I guess for a request for a new one. -

Ok ironed out some issues with a few updates and reboots
Touch screen seems to be running better with the razer launcher update no idea why
The buttons don't get stuck any more however my screen orientation button still does nothing at all .
I'm still debating if I should send it back now because its running smoothly now after the Window s update (Guild Wars 2 runs beautifully) I just need to find a damn place that has accessories for it.
Also I had a Surface pro before and I can say the edge is thicker how ever the weight is mostly the same I don't notice that part.
The 720 screen looks fine for the screen size watched a couple of movies and looked great.
And if you buy this get the screen protector because mannnn fingerprints -
My screen rotation button does nothing also, didn't even try using it until I read your post. Trying to figure out if I can enable it without button or if there is an update or something. Otherwise mine has been great . Maybe someone's whose rotation button works can chime in...does someone have an edge that rotation button works?

ok solve the issue with the button... it seems to only work if the view is outside of portrait mode.... so you have to manually switch it from portrait then hit the button to take you back into portrait

This is actually good news. The way Best Buuy works... if they take longer than 7ish days past the release date to get an item in stock, they auto-cancel your order.
If they've removed the release date, our orders should stay open until Best Buy gets new supply from Razer in. -
Ok so day three is fine it was a little rough at the beginning however everything is running great. Played DmC Yesterday for about 1 hour 45 before it getting to critical battery to be plugged in. I really hope razer does't drop support and worn't let 3rd parties make accessories for it because at this current rate it will be august before I see the Game-pad or Dock station or for those just looking for a juice pack its a bit difficult without the game pad (they need to offer a extended battery without having to use keyboard or game pad)
All and all I am completely satisfied with my purchase. Cant wait to run some other things this weekend. -
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
Nice. It shoulds like you can probably get between 2 and 4 hours once you get the battery pack. I've accepted the fact that I won't find a gamepad anytime soon so I picked up a razer sabertooth for now.

Hello,
I have a question hope someone can answer. I have had the Razer Edge Pro for a few days now and I'm liking it. The question I have is when I'm playing a game on it while on the battery the performance drops which is understandable, but I was wondering if the same thing will happen when using the gamepad controller. Because its running off the battery as well. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you -

Some guy on youtube upgraded his 64gb (I that was the lowest model) to a 250 gb ssd was a 2 min upgrade he had to reinstall window 8 , but he did try window7 but didn't work too good look it up YouTube I think he going to try 450gb ssd , it looks simple.

Thanks for the replies. I have set the system on Game Mode Power Plan and on High Performance. As well as disable the intel hd4000 through Nvidia Control Panel. Its a drastic FPS drop ex. While playing Portal 2 on the battery I get around 40 fps with the power cable connected I get a steady 60fps. Not really sure now if this is normal or not. I do know when I had my m18x it would slow down when on the battery when I was playing games. I emailed Razer to see if this behavior is normal, I would also recommend to email them as soon as you get your device because it doesn't come with a Recovery partition. They removed it so we have more space on the SSD. Its better to be safe than sorry.
Thanks again. -
1. Extend battery life
2. Potect the health of your battery
you can disable powermizer but it will wreck your battery life. It's like this with every laptop I've ever owned and the Edge is no different. -
