I went to the support drivers and replaced them all with the 8.1 compatible drivers. The main one is the firmware update for the sensor hub that's the one glitching on win 8 that wouldn't make your tablet rotate "Razer_SensorHub_Patch_v1.00.00.exe" at the razersupport.com/downloads

    There's PDF instructions here

http://dl.razerzone.com/master-guides/Edge/Windows 81 Upgrade Guide for Razer Edge Rev 1.3.pdf

The intel drivers provided in the list of files on the razer site also corrects the inverted screen. it happens when you update to 8.1 it's really weird. I use the mouse and keyboard to navigate temporarily until the drivers are replaced

Btw no need to say sorry, I went through all the troubles already I don't mind explaining the process, though that PDF from razer does seem accurate :p

It definitely was a challenge with the ram because the other slot was on the other side of the board so I had to figure out how to disassemble it completely (a tear down essentially) first time as always took longer than the times after, I normally can do a 2nd tear down in 30 mins, which includes putting it back together and turning it on.

I'm so glad I brought my M11x with my Razer. The keyboard dock is the absolutely worst keyboard I've ever typed on in my life. I have at least 5 missed letters in one sentence!

I did take pictures at one point I'll see what I can do

    ++edit++

Seems I didn't take pics of every step. I'll do a new tear down to show how to access the other side of the board.

Did you ever think about replacing the thermal paste on the system? I also installed 16gb of Ram and getting to the other side of board was a chore. If i ever had to do it again i know i have your walkthrough with pics to guide me. Thanks alot for that.

    Hi everybody,

I already asked about this a month ago without really any replies, so I will ask again! I just got myself a Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 wireless card to upgrade the wireless card in my Razer Edge Pro. I'd like to know what steps I should do before and after installing my new wireless card. Should I uninstall the drivers of the old wireless card before putting the new one? Thanks for the help !

The problem I was having with the 7260 was that my bluetooth devices would disconnect every few minutes, this was really frustrating when I was working on a report or something. What worked for me (somewhat) is that I unpaired all my devices and uninstalled all drivers and then installed the new card. it works better now but I still get random disconnects , about one or two an hour. I dont know if its just by chance or if this helps but I have noticed everytime I go into the metro interface it seems to reboot the bluetooth adapter.

if anyone knows how to eliminate the random disconnect problem , please let me know.

It is a worthwhile upgrade though. for example I upgraded to an AC router and with a comcast 50Mb connection I was getting about 2.5MBps when downloading games on steam , now with the AC7260 I get 6.7MBps! it seems unreal considering I remember days when a constant speed of 5.0KB/S was considered a good connection!!

Ok guys and girls, I want your thoughts. I have the Razer Edge Pro 256, edge dock, extra extended battery, extra wall charger, two 10 gig razor edge usb sticks(recovery)game controller, usb extender, Razer Ethernet cable adapter, and a neoprene sleeve to keep the Razer edge in. I am pondering selling it. With today’s market and what things are going for on Ebay and amazon, what do you all think everything is worth in total? Oh and everything is in perfect condition.

Well the fact is you invested so much into this and if you're thinking of selling it all as a bundle it could go for 1500 maybe 1800? I dunno if I ever sold my tablet in its current state I'd sell it for 2.5 grand only because of the 1tb SSD and the 16gb of ram and the time I took to upgrade it and fix the bugs lol… your call on your system though

Well, I think the new blade pro might be a better fit for the things I do. I am just not sure if I want to do it or not. I need another dock and or keybpard dock to really make this functional, and I am not going to pay out the a$$ for a dock.

While they are completely different types of systems, I get where you are coming from. I liked the Edge but I just couldn't make it work with the way I do things, and by the time I made it work I was carrying around more stuff than if I just had a small laptop, so I got the 14" Blade instead. Unfortunately the cost and availability of the accessories is bad for such a really nice system too. The biggest thing I miss is playing games laying in bed with the touchscreen, I can't quite do that with a laptop and need a mouse and flat space to lay it on.

I sold my Edge pro 512 with sleeve, screen and back protectors, 7260 card, mouse and keyboard for 830 on ebay, which netted me about 750 after ebay and paypal fees IIRC. It was a huge loss for sure, but that's the way technology is, especially in these niche markets if you swap often. That looked like the going rate at the time I sold mine, some went for 1000-1500 with docks and gamepads etc.

Hello all! I need some advice on a couple of issues.
    1) Having some strange microphone issues. It is fuzzy and has a static-y background noise (maybe the fan?) I've tried adjusting all sorts of different microphone settings, to no avail. I've been looking for drivers but havevn't found any working ones. It's a Conexant SmartAudio HD mic, with windows 8.1.

    2) Whever I put my device in power saver mode, it works for a while (15min?) then programs start to freeze up and the computer ultimately becomes unusable unless I restart, not really completely freezing as I can move my mouse, but nothing is really clickable anymore. Not sure if this is an OS issue or an issue with the device.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I haven't encountered your issue with the 2nd since I patched to 8.1 and updated the firmware for the sensor from razer's support site. My tablet used to freeze on occasion before but not after.

When you update windows to 8.1 you were supposed to uninstall the old ones before installing the new ones. That includes that intel drivers for the wifi/bt adapter. And possibly the razer sensor hub firmware.

There's a big possibility that once you update the sensor hub firmware your 2nd issue will be solved

If that isn't the case, double check to see if you have a virus or some background application that you installed. That could be causing the issue. If it's not essential remove it.

I am having an issue with my gamepad being recognized by my pro. It is recognized as a "bootloader" device in the device manager. It occured when i unplugged the accessory and re plugged it back in. I have done that plenty of times with no issue before. This issue has been present in other razer keyboards and can be fixed with a driver update but i cannot locate any drivers for the gamepad. I have tried restoring my system to an earlier date but it stillmdoesnt work. Any tips?

Just curious, but aren't you the guy that went through a bunch of trouble contacting Razer's support and corporate to get accessories a few weeks ago? Seems like a lot of work just to sell the thing off, lol. Not that I'm in disagreement if something else would work better for you. Guess I'm just glad I don't have to deal with customers like yourself.

Kind of a Jerkish thing to say to someone.. But to each there own. I am that guy, and for your information I did work to get those items which I paid for. I needed the items to get the most out of the system, and after owning it and using it i find it is not what I need. I hope that that is OK with you, as I would not like to deal with posters like yourself any more than I have to.

In the end whatever it may be if it doesn't serve what you need it to do and you have a way to depart with it while making some funds to put into an alternative device that may serve your needs go for it.

If the 2014 touch display enabled 14" razer blade is better for you go for it. It would've been nicer if the keyboard folded to the back of the screen but that's just my take from it :p

However I do recommend doing research before deciding as to not to go through a similar process again. :/

I've just bought a Razer Edge Pro off of Ebay (I'm in the UK), and knew about the fact the support team don't send USB Recovery sticks to the UK........................my unit has been relatively fine (except the 3DMark 11 score, see below), and I've created W8 and W8.1 builds on it (I backed them up via Macrium Reflect), but I always like to have the USB Recovery media to refer to so as to do a factory restore for machines like this, for peace of mind.

I am WILLING TO PAY GOOD MONEY.......(email me at [email protected] if you can help please)...........if anyone is able to send me this USB Recovery on a stick in the post, or upload this as an ISO to an FTP site, or create a downlink for it, for me to extract onto my own USB stick here....

One of the reasons this is paramount for me is that I've yet to get a 3DMark11 score over 1400 and I need to test the unit at factory settings to see if the builds I've created on it are causing the low marks, and with the poor support, its going to be hard to feel happy with this unit unless I can analyse it properly with it in its original state.

I hope someone can help here!!

    Thanks

Not a huge deal, but the USB recovery sticks from Razer have installs based on the serial number and Windows key for each unit. I know you can switch the key once you do an install, but I'd personally not send that out to someone since it would be entirely possible to switch the hardware by calling the automated MSFT support, entering in the long numbers from the install and what the system gives you back, and using the key for a whole different computer. I know because I tried it on my desktop :p

Getting a bit touchy aren't we? I don't think it's a jerkish thing to say at all. You seemed like an overly entitled customer back when you posted you were even trying to get the accessories, because it's not the companies fault you didn't manage to pick them up when they were in stock somewhere. Obviously it worked out in your favor, but if every person that has an Edge did what you did, it would be a mess.

In relation to my above post about the need for the USB Recovery media, I've just been testing the Controller that I bought at the same time as the Razer Edge Pro, and it has the 'green logo lit up at the back but no lights showing on the left or right controller', which I have just found out is a common fault.

It appears I have been sold a dud, because clearly, if this is a known fault with the Controller (apparently they 'just break' after a while), then this wouldn't have happened in transit.

Does anyone on here have any knowledge of this controller issue, i.e. is there a known solution without having to contact the arrogant USA based Razer support who 'wont deal with other countries' ?

This is a bigger issue than my low frame rate problem I was getting, I'm more angry now I have been sent a dud, and the ebay seller had said 'no returns' on his selling page for the item, maybe I should have heeded the warning...........

EvSOLO......................this issue you had with the Game Controller, where they gave you a driver to resolve it, were the symptoms (as well as it showing as a Razor Bootloader which mine is also doing now), that it would not light up the controller lights on the front but the backlight green logo would be working fine?

I am hoping you had the same thing as that means the driver they supplied you will resolve mine too, I assumed mine was a hardware fault but hopefully its just a device recognition issue.

Silly me........or rather search engines aint like they used to be............I've found the answer in this very forum, the updated firmware for the gamepad!!

Took me a while to get there but hey, I made it....

All I need to know from others on this forum now (and btw after reading most of the forum weirdly except the page I needed to read, page135, I applaud all the help you guys have offered each other on here) is about my 3DMark 11 score, on stock core/mem I don't get above P1420 (Win 8.1), and lesser in Win 8.0 (P1250 on average), both tests using Game Booster for the system (all tweaked), and the app itself boosted..........

Has anyone else here had such 'lower than they should be' 3DMark 11 scores..........I bought this from Ebay last week and am beginning to think the seller has overclocked this too much and had made the GPU a bit on its last legs....................then again, if a GPU has been overclocked too much, surely it would just die completely and not offer poor performance when under these tests??

Anyone see the new surface pro 3 with core i7 8gb ram and 512gb SSD @ 12" @9.1mm thick and 800g 2160x1440 (3:2 ratio) resolution?

I think it only uses the integrated intel iris pro graphics, no nvidia.

For something that replaces a laptop and being so thin and light i think it's a good laptop killer replacement with the newer keyboard with Magnetic keyboard bevel…

Still compared to the razer edge the few things the edge has better is that it is upgradeable. Unfortunately it is thicker, has a 3rd gen core i7 and gets loud and hot.

I still love my upgraded razer edge pro though :)

I'm loving every bit of the new Surface Pro 3, and proves that if Razer are willing to create a new Edge, it would truly be revolutionary. The Surface Pro 3 is now incredibly thin, it's got a beautiful display with the highest contrast ratio in the market, and at 12-inchs, it could replace your laptop easily. However, the Edge STILL beats it in terms of raw specs, and the Edge is ultimately more upgradable. With the Surface, your stuck with 4GB RAM with the 64 and 128GB storage options, and your only way to get 8GB of RAM is to shell almost $1500 to upgrade to the 256 or 512GB storage. And let's not kid ourselves, even if it has an i7 chip, 4GB is unforgivable in a modern Windows 8 machine.

As fantastic as the new Pro 3 is, it's not the machine I'm looking for, and I'm not willing to pay $1500 just to get 8GB of RAM. I'm desperate for Razer to show us a new Edge. Razer makes beautiful hardware, and I like the core concepts behind their products. If they were to modernize the Edge, they could make it a little thinner, they could bring a new beautiful display, similar to the new Blade, and give us a new graphics chip that is capable to run 2014 games :)

    Please Razer, DO IT!

You're assuming MS makes a profit on these products which may be a mistake. While the SP2 sold better then the SP1, its still struggling to make numbers. I don't see Razer coming back to tablets anytime soon unless it implements streaming tech like Nvidias.

I couldn't resist and went ahead and ordered the SP3. It won't be replacing my Edge but it definitely solves all the issues I had with my SP2. I agree with Zeelobby that we probably won't see another Razer tablet unless it has some sort of streaming technology. That seems to be the direction that portable gaming is going in anyway when you look at the Shield and the Vita.

Anyone tried out Wolfenstein: The New Order on the Edge? I want to know if it works.

I was hoping that we'd see an XBox Surface yesterday, but it wasn't meant to be. Since a game-capable tablet is much more of a want than a need, waiting for Broadwell devices seems like a better option. Sadly.

Well my upgraded edge will last me for some time so I won't be replacing my tablet for a few years so I can wait for the next version if there is one when it meets my 1tb storage … so far they aren't there yet

I do like the sp3 though it looks real nice and I wouldn't mind checking it out. Using that to work on photoshop and other design stuff would be pretty cool

I'm 99.9% sure it uses just the standard Intel HD graphics, not Iris Pro graphics.

The Iris Pro chips have a system TDP of around 47w, and even the regular Iris 5100 has a system TDP of 28w. From everything I've read the SP3 system TDP is 15w, so it likely has the same Intel HD graphics as the SP2, with maybe a higher clock speed but I can't find any details about that.
