I can't find any official word on it but the guys over on the Microsoft forum (this site) are saying that the highest i7 Sku comes with the intel 5000.

What games could you run of the SP3 with 5000 graphics?

Not sure about the games since it's made for work. But I hope it can handle something like blizzard games such as Starcraft 2, diablo 3, hearthstone. I doubt it'll handle other games real well, maybe at medium settings, it's quite larger than a 1080p screen so it'd be interesting to see how it performs

The only decent Intel graphics is Iris Pro. All the HD5000 or HD4000 aren't meant to be for any serious gaming. You can either run some older games from like 2008/09, or you can run newer games but hunting in the settings menu for the lowest possible graphics to run at a decent framerate. The Surface Pro 3 still relies on Intel HD graphics, which isn't bad for daily tasks, but nowhere near capable of hardcore gaming on a tablet.

Our dream for a real gaming tablet PC still lives in the lonely island of the Razer Edge Pro.

I tried out a Sony Vaio Duo with the i7-4650u with the HD 5000 graphics and 8GB RAM last year, and it performed decently at 1920x1080 with games such as Dota 2, WoW, SC2, Diablo 3, most Valve games, and just about anything from 2011 depending on the settings. So I'm sure the SP3 will be ok for gaming, but still not comparable to the Edge. The Iris 5100 would have gotten pretty close though. I really don't know why nobody has released a tablet with the 5100...wouldn't be difficult to get something that runs at 28w, considering the Edge runs at nearly 40. A Haswell i5+HD5100+8GB would be very comparable and could be a bit smaller with better battery life.

Actually, found my old about the HD 5000 with that Duo 13:

I wouldn't dare replace the screen, I don't know how doable that is. I did a tear down a couple weeks ago. I didn't go as far as the screen, left it alone. But there might be some info you can find in those shots?

Well, I listed my Edge Pro and Docking Station on ebay. Decided to build a Steam Box/HTPC and needed to raise a little cash. Everything is in great condition.

If anyone is interested, just let me know.

    Here is the eBay link:

I think New Razer Edge can be like AMD Discovery ( CES 2014 ). With small AMD integrated GPU and dock with more powerful integrated GPU.

That's awesome! Getting 20-30 fps while in medium-to-high settings is amazing for Geforce 640M LE! If you lower the detail settings a little, I bet this would be stable in the 30s.

What? All you do is push DEL or F1 when turning on the Edge before the logo shows up and it does go into the BIOS. The image you posted is just the Boot Menu, so I'm a bit confused why you would post it with "Hmm not much options" unless you've never seen a boot menu before?

What I hit was what the other guy said the volume button and windows button on the tablet, the other way is how to get into the uefi bios, I wasn't expecting to go into the boot screen :p

It's possible I hit the other direction for the volume and it gave me that screen

I'm looking to do a major overhaul on mine as well, I do have to ask, what memory did you go with? The sticks the Edge comes with are '11s' for timings, but would it be possible to go with 9s (Which are always more expensive.)? Did you go with 1.35v? Also what make and model sticks did you go with and what thermal compound did you use? Some are showing much better cooling by replacing the stock TIM. I have always run with Arctic Silver in my rigs, but was wondering if anyone had a better choice? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Roger that, thanks. The picture in the previous setup wasn't as clear. I was just wondering if I could go with a SO-DIMM set with a clock of 9 @ 1.35v or not. Might be a bit more expensive but I'm sure it would be worth it. Outstanding work by the way.

Screen size, Signal Interface, Response Time, Input Voltage, LED Connector position and pins are the same like original , only Contrast and Brightness are little lower.

Unfortunately LG LP101WH4(SL)(P2) is only 1366 x 768 like original, I can't find 10.1 inch display with same size (10.1 inch ; 16:9 Aspect Ratio ) and higher resolution for the moment.

    I'm waiting 4k resolution displays : News&Event:News Release|Japan Display Inc.

Hi all! I am glad this forum is here. It seems as though there are few resources available for the Edge on the web. I purchased a refurbished Edge Pro (128GB) through Woot! last week and I am so far really digging the power vs. size of the Edge. I have not played with the game controller yet as I have been busy getting the tablet ready for the 250 GB Samsung mSATA SSD I have waiting to install. I have a few questions regarding playing AAA games on the Edge using the controller, however I would prefer using a keyboard/mouse combo. Is there ANY chance Razer will put out the keyboard dock? My internet intuition says no, but I figured I would ask here.

The dock was released back in December in very limited quantities. I think there was a batch that was released in January too but I haven't seen them since then. I would guess that we aren't going to see anymore released by Razer so unless you want to check eBay and pay an extravagant markup, you're SOL.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I did peruse eBay on a whim and saw one go for $800. I just laughed to myself and got a small bluetooth keyboard and mouse for $50 instead. I did order the home dock from Amazon but it won't ship for another 2 weeks.

On a separate note, I did install the 250 GB mSATA SSD today. It is nice how easy they made upgrading some of the components. Since I see the wireless card is just a mini PCI card, I think I'm going to get the upgraded Centrino card and pop it in. It's sad how my $30 Belkin USB wireless adapter gets better throughput than the card Razer chose to put in the Edge.

One of the above posters noted how this forum is the only source of info on the razer edge.I believe that is correct as I have not been able to find anything on one of my problems. So before I reach out to razer themselves I wanted to ask you guys. I have a refurbed pro unit that has been scaring the crap out of me. Is it okay for this thing to get so hot? I am seeing 80c all the way to 90c under heavy load and holding 50c at idle. I replaced the TIM with artic mx4 which only shaved off about 3c from load. Now my ambient temps are high right now around 28c (summer time baby!). The heat so far has not caused any issues that i am aware of but still troubling to say the least.

Edit. All numbers are with the controller installed and are coming from speed fan and msi after burner. No overclock at this time however my cpu does tend to stay turbo boosted at 2.9 under load.

Edit#2. Is there anyway to control the fan in this bad boy? I tried speed fan and msi afterburner nothing seems to work even tried the bios no settings there either.

I am curious about this as I have a refurb unit as well. I haven't noticed an excessive amount of heat from it, but I haven't heald it in my hands as I've gamed on it. Low load usage (web, productivity apps) do not generate any appreciable heat from the heat vents at the top.

How is the temperature you are seeing being measured? Is it an app or are you using an infrared thermometer on the surface of the unit?

You can use MSI Afterburner a program meant for overclocking but it also shows temps of your various components. Also speed fan and open hardware monitor do the same these are all free programs just be careful of the junk vapor ware they try to attach to the downloads. I sent Razer support a message hopefully they will hit me back soon. On a side note I heard the Razer Blade laptop tends to run really hot aswell.

Raven, you are the man! Thanks so much for your guide. MISSION COMPLETE! I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am now with this device. It is totally awesome having components that should have more than likely been there in the first place. 16Gig of 9clk ram, 7260 Wifi, 1TB Samsung EVO. Clearly huge benefits, the only thing I have left to do is change out the TIM on her chips and I'm Golden. I know someone had their guid on that in here but I can't seem to find it. Anyway thanks again man, total rockstar work you do man. This should hold me until someone comes up with a USD 3.0 to Thunderbolt adapter and external GPU rig. That would be the only thing this system is missing to give it increased capability.

I tried the Sharkk but I personally don't like that it's laid out like an Apple keyboard and does feel a little on the cheap side (there was some other flaw but I can't recall what it was, it's been a while), so I sent it back and got the Logitech K810...which I had actually used in person before and love it. It's perfectly laid out, great size (especially if you have the folio that fits the Edge), great backlighting, has nice software integration (can even disable various keys and set FN/media keys, etc), and has a bit better quality to it. But is also around double the price nowadays (I got mine back when it was like $50).

Hey guys , just wanted to get your thoughts and advice on something. I started to really push my edge's video card in terms of overclocking and so far have been able to get 810mhz on the core. Its pretty amazing , i can play games on high settings with the fps close to 35 ( good enough for me i dont try to get the most fps) the thing is that i cant oc the memory even a little. I tried 1000mhz and after about an hour it crashes. Any advice on how push the memory would be appreciated. 800 on the core is good (60%oc!) but the memory is the bottleneck now. I saw a thread where people pushed the 640m le on some sony laptop to 1000mhz on the core and 1150 memory!!

As for temps, it maxes out at an acceptable 73C battery life has dropped by 12% which isnt too bad as it translates to about 13 minutes.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I've been using Nvidia inspector. It bypasses the 135Mhz cap on the core without the need of a Vbios mod.
