I haven't encountered your resolution scaling problem on my end, I'm running windows 8.1U I ran blizzard games such as Hearthstone, wow, Starcraft 2, diablo 3… and others like wildstar, dcuniverse online, marvel heroes, Mechwarrior online and castle crashers.

So we'd probably need to know what games or if you preset something in the nvidia drivers.

As example stripes on: red faction guerilla, assasins creed 3, watch dog's. I think this problem with all dx10-11 games.
Games with directx 9 same as borderlands 2, gta 4 or hl2 working fine.
And allmost funny, when I change dx option in warthunder on dx9 problem was gone and on dx11 problem bring again.

On this video I show more details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4t5h3t1AsU

nevermind. I just read your post

I still enjoy my Edge after months of having it and I was waiting for the msata to go down in price which it did.

I haven't felt like looking through the thread,

What is the best way to clone the hard drive? or should I get the recovery key?

You'll need a USB to msata enclosure and hook up the new drive to the USB port. The clone software should detect the drive. Samsung has cloning software for their evo 840 (and msata series of those) drives on the samsung site so all you have to do is download it (hardware specific) and just follow the instructions.

Anyone having issues with the Razer Edge controller working with Mass Effect 3? The lights are lit up but can't control any of the start menu options.

I owned this razer edge pro since december 2013 and until now I can't even find any place where to buy this f#$%ng keyboard dock.
It's really annoying how this company sells this type of product without it's supporting accessories available...ANYWHERE!!!

I was messing around with Xpadder for a Mass Effect 3 controller profile. I set it up on my xbox 360 controller and everything seemed to work, now my Razer controller doesn't light up but the Edge recognizes that a device is connected. Couldn't find a driver on the razer site, any ideas? I have synapse 2.0 installed as well.

Turns out I needed to re-flash my controller with the controller firmware from Razer. Mass Effect 3 is awesome on the Edge with the controller.

Can anyone point me in the direction of proper overclocking software for for the Edge Pro? I've got all my cooling mods completed, and now just need to boost the performance. I'm looking to increase the bus if possible, or clock if that is the only way. And shutdown the threads and only run on the cores.

***Note***: If possible does anyone know a way to lower the threshold to activate the cooling fan? I'd like to get it to start activating at 40 degrees Celsius instead of 53 degrees Celsius.

Can you send me the cooling mods please?
I have searched this thread but can't find the instructions, only find people asking for it.

Hello, I don't have the links right now but Google '640m le oc' or overclocking and you will find do a thread about overclocking some Sony laptop with the same guy I used that as a ball park reference and as for software I'm using Nvidia inspector. I am able to get 815/1000 oc a lot of people with the Sony easily get 1000/1000 OCs, not sure how! Let me know your results too. Someone told me cpu throttling was slowing inhibiting my GPS oc I don't know how to stop that. He recommended some software but I couldn't make heads or tails of it. It was on this thread.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi folks.

So I got my Edge off Ebay as a graduation present (in place of a car - regretting that a bit after discovering how much Razer doesn't give two flying ****s about this product, LOL). Immediately discovered the battery indicator was broken, not displaying. Thankfully Razer was willing to fix it for me, despite not having any warranty information and it being refurbished.

Well, that's all well and good - but since then I swear the USB port has gotten worse and worse. It's got massive contact issues, to the point where I'm jury rigging contraptions just to get the USB to register. Aaand the instant I so much as move or shift (a big problem when I'm curled up with the Edge and not in any particular stable setup) it disconnects.

I seem to have a poison touch when it comes to USBs.

Anyway, there seems to be a lot of people on this forum who are reeeal savvy with the inner bits, so I'm here to ask: how feasible is it to replace a USB? Razer's already said I'm out of luck in getting a second repair done, but the frustration is reaching a point where it makes me put the Edge away and not even want to deal with it. Because there's only one port, I have to use a USB extender - loads of help when the port itself is broken.

That and it's causing different issues, like distortion and beeping on a headset/mic that works completely fine on my main computer.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem I am having. I upgraded to Windows 8.1, I followed the guide, but after the upgrade I can't get any HDMI output through the docking station. It's like it just doesn't exist! Anyone had this? Or any recommendations? I have tried different HDMI cables and ports on the TV (It was working before the upgrade), I have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers. I am at a complete loss! Any help would be greatly appreciated

That's weird, I'm on 8.1 and the HDMI through my dock is working fine. I would reinstall my video drivers and see if that fixes your problems. If not go into the global setttings of the nvidia control panel and change it to your nvidia card as opposed to your integrated video card.

Tried to reinstall all my video drivers, and tried to switch between Nvidia GPU and the Intel HD4000, no result. The funny thing is that it used to work before with Windows 8.1, but then I did a complete format to the Edge, and it stopped working after the format. No idea what's wrong.

Thats really weird. Have you tried to go back to 8 and see if the video works? If it works then it has to be a driver issue relating to 8.1. Mine works great on 8.1 with no issues. If I were you i would redo the whole process over again. I know that sucks but its the only thing i can think of.

That's what Razer support suggested to me. I tried doing that with a Win 8 USB stick I made, but no joy. I guess I'll have to wait for the Razer boot stick that support are sending me.

I have the drivers from the Razer website. I upgraded the drivers after i got everything up and running. It may have to do with using a new copy of 8.1 instead of the Razer backup.

I recently got a Razer USB stick to clean-wipe everything as I didn't have a recovery partition after upgrading to Windows 8.1. My device was mostly working properly outside of some driver issues and needing to clear out a bunch of stuff, so I figured the USB stick would work great. I used it and it locked my BIOS and made the EFI Shell default to load anything.

The only thing I can do in the BIOS is disable boot options, but I can't re-order them or boot from them without going into Windows, choosing to restart from recovery mode, and choosing to load off of a device (that's also the only way I can get into the BIOS, no hotkeys work before startup).

This seems really strange to me. Is there any reason this would be happening? I have been using the tablet the last few days and it works fine, but it's really annoying knowing I can't easily access the BIOS, change options (not that there are that many), and that Razer's own USB stick caused the problem. I even get an error if I try to change anything in the BIOS, which then just exits and restarts the Edge Pro.

I believe the windows button and the down volume gets into the bios and the windows button up goes to the boot options on the tablet. As for hdmi out issues I upgraded to windows 8.1u and used razer's drivers from their site and never had that issue. I upgraded that sucker awhile back too

Yeah, I've had the Edge since last summer and never had a problem until using the USB recovery stick. I've tried everything to access the BIOS, including plugging in my keyboard and using the Function keys or delete, etc. won't access the BIOS or Boot Options. It's like the Razer stick blocked the functionality or something, enabled the EFI Shell, and locked the BIOS options. I'm guessing I should just contact Razer's support or something.

Just bought a gently used Razer Edge, the keyboard dock and an extra battery. I'm hoping this will become my go-to airplane companion, I like strategy games like Total War and Civ.

I've already bought an extra adapter, as well as an Intel wifi card. Any tips for a newbie about other things? I own a Blade 14 as well.

system restore fixed the prolonged shutting down, now im having issues updating windows 8 in general. "update failure to configure windows", I never had issues like this with windows 7. is there any way to get the updates to work properly on here, I bet there are other users with this same issue.

all I want to do is update windows, I do the general update check what I want to download and bam 30 to 45 mins later failure to update.

Yep don't upgrade to 8.1. I actually couldn't do it for whatever reasons I'm glad I stuck to 8.0 (even though some apps don't work). More hassle then needed. Also download GeForce experience to make sure the GPU driver upgrades automatically.

Hey all. I've been waiting around for a refresh to the Edge, but my situations changed (laptop died out of warranty). Would you recommend continuing to wait or purchasing an Edge? If the latter, what's a fair price for it at this point? Thanks for all the help!

Honestly, I would recommend getting something else. There's nothing wrong with the Edge and I still use mines all the time. The only issue I have is that it's pretty much impossible to find most of the accessories for any price. The keyboard dock is no longer available so if you want to use it as a laptop, you'll have to carry at least a stand, a bluetooth keyboard, and a mouse. It's you're still keen on getting one, I think $800 is a fair price for the 256GB depending on the condition.

I actually disagree, but that's based on my setup vs experience with the Razer keyboard dock (2 weeks before returning it).

For one, I got the $50 stand case from Weltonpie, it's about the only custom fit option for the Edge. It works great, has the proper fit, connector cutouts that line-up, venting, etc. It works great as a stand and although it's a tiny bit of an annoyance, the flip-down part to have it as a stand while charging is nice and actually helps keep the charger cable out of the way.

Secondly, compared to the official keyboard dock, it actually allows for different viewing angles, is more compact (even when using with my BT keyboard), looks much better (more professional, IMO) and feels higher quality even if it's less of a solid/sturdy type of case. It's the difference between a faux leather and a matte hard plastic.

With the option to get a BT keyboard that suits you (I had a Logitech K810 from before getting my Edge anyways), it offers your own preference, plus it's actually less bulky to carry these two in my Cocoon double-sided sleeve than it was to carry around the Edge in the keyboard dock.

The only benefit with the official dock to me would be the extended battery...but you're going to pay an arm and a leg for it, at which point I'd rather get this to get like 4-5 charges out of it plus have it for other devices: Amazon.com: Nature Power 80026 Power Bank Elite 25 Portable Battery with 3-USB Charging Ports and 1-AC outlet: Patio, Lawn & Garden

Lastly, the keyboard in the dock completely sucks and was terribly unresponsive which made actually typing/working on it unbearable, it wasn't backlit, and I'd prefer to use a mouse+touch over mouse+dock keyboard, it was that bad.

If you're going to invest $800+ into the Edge Pro, I'd definitely recommend a setup like I've described over the official keyboard dock, which now would likely be much cheaper anyways.

Actually found it. Had the wrong spelling.

Is this the one you have?

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IQN7D2Q?pc_redir=1405404455&robot_redir=1#

And then for the keyboard you just have it stored separately? I have the same logitech one. I honestly can't believe Razer messed up so badly on the keyboard dock, it absolutely unusable.

Yup, that's the one. I didn't look it up when typing the name of the company. Dunno why it's even called that, but it is a decent enough stand case and about the only fit option outside of the official keyboard dock.

What I do is use a Cocoon sleeve similar to this (I can't actually find the exact one I have, as I got it through my company a couple years ago and they had the 15" laptop size and a netbook/tablet one that fits the Edge with that case and the K810 perfectly, with room to spare for the charger, etc):

Amazon.com: Cocoon Neoprene Case for 15.4-Inch Laptops (CLS410BK): Electronics

^It isn't that one, as I remember I used that exact one for my work laptop at the time and it was like 2-3 times the size of the one that fits the Edge (with case)+K810 perfectly.

Here are a couple similar ones that might work better, as I'm not sure if mine was for that large of laptop above:

Amazon.com: Cocoon Innovations GRID-IT! Wrap Case for 10-Inch Tablet (CPG36BK): Computers & Accessories
Amazon.com: Cocoon Innovations GRID-IT! Wrap Case for Tablet (CPG38BK): Computers & Accessories
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003L1YTES

That last one looks pretty nice for an actual carrying case with the removable neoprene sleeve/grid-it separate. Though I don't know if any of those links fit the Edge Pro and such.

Actually, found the exact one I have from the inner tags model but I can only find it in red now (mine is black):

Amazon.com: Cocoon CNS360RD Neoprene Netbook Case, Up to 11inch Netbook /Laptop, Red: Electronics

also the direct site page for the same product (which also has quite a few other options that could work great): http://www.cocooninnovations.com/product_info.php?cat_id=71&product_id=160

With the removable GRID-IT out, it fits the Edge Pro /w that Weltanpie case + K810 in separate sleeves for protection, with a little extra room for cables or such. I like it because it comes with a detachable shoulder strap + little handle (nonremovable).

Hey thanks for posting this. I had resorted to using my Alienware M11X instead of my edge for a few months now, but this set up could get me back to using my edge.

I just installed DCU online. I shut down the Edge. When i turned it back on I am stuck on the snake screen and the power light is blinking green. How do I fix this and what did I do to get the tablet in this situation?

That's happened to me a few times and the solution was to just let it sit at the snake screen for about 15 minutes and it would eventually boot to the login screen. If that doesn't work, then I don't know what you can do outside of trying to reload the OS.

Thanks I will give it a try for the 15 minutes. I will check back either way.

That was good advice as I let it sit there until it finished booting. I rebooted a few times after that, and things seem to be back to normal, short of getting DCU online to run.
