Hello.. anyone selling they're gamepad controller for the edge?? if yes let me know.. just got my edge Po.. loving it.. just missing the game controller and the extended battery... playing games on it with a x360 controller is ok with the tablet. Just not ideal for how its meant to be used.

It's good to see that this Forum is still alive.. I finally got lucky with a gamepad dock,, should be here sometime next week.. I know i'm late in the game getting the edge since it's gonna be about 2 years old now.. It's still the most powerful gaming tablet out there IMO.. Even with the aging Nvidia 640m LE. It's capable, no need to play with the highest setting as games still look great on the 1366 x 768p res screen. The IPS screen is a very high quality screen IMHO. I had an NVIDIA Shield (before it was renamed to portable) and the Shield Tablet.. They are both Great for what it's made for.. Portability of course was great on those.. They weren't perfect either. Mobile gaming have come a long way, with they're more powerful Arm Processors out today and even more coming in the near future. I Love the Razer Edge so much more than any of those and any of the windows tablets that are out with they're, the weight is not bad for me as it is a full Windows Tablet with Ultrabook Components. yes it is overpriced, Razer was very ambitious and clever creating this machine..... Even the highest demanding games still run on this, even though not that great. but still very capable with the right tweaks.. Thanks for keeping the forum alive still....

Has anyone been able to get cortex working without losing the ability to open and close their soft keyboard with the hard button?
It works again when I re install game booster.

Overclocked at 800/1000 i was able to play Alien Isolation on highest setting with average fps of 40. Razer Edge has more than enough power to play games at its native res. Choosing 640le was on spot choice for this machine it has 384 cuda cores which is incredible only prob is low frequency and with oc ability this gpu turns into 650/660 ( more close to 660 )

Just install Cortex without uninstall Game booster, and you will be able to use the button to call the keyboard! (By the way thank you, I didn't know that was because of Cortex!)

Upgraded to a Samsung Evo 1TB SSD and an Intel 7260 WiFi card. Absolutely painless.

The Youtube vid I watched about opening the case said a torx 7 was appropriate, but I found a torx 6 driver was proper for my unit. The SSD fit and was recognized immediately by my Razer USB recovery flash drive, which restored Win 8.0 in well less than an hour. Interestingly, the upgrade flash drive process can be accomplished with only the touch screen. I had prepared a USB hub with keyboard and mouse, but it was not required for the reinstall/recovery process. Those of us with only the Edge and no dock can do the system restore with no 3rd party hardware.

I had bought a USB 3.0 enclosure for the old SSD, so I could copy my 60GB Steam directory at USB 3.0 speed instead of re-downloading it all at ISP bandwidth. Steam did some housecleaning, and I had to download/install the Steam client, but it ended up being as smooth as I had remembered it from a previous machine recovery. I also installed email program & preferences, and some utilities from the old SSD. Then I copied my 230 GB iTunes library, and did some testing & listening.

After this was all proven stable, I opened the Edge a second time to install the new WiFi card. The old WiFi drivers appeared to recognize the new card, and asked me to select an access point. However, there was no data thruput until I installed the proper 7260 drivers. Connectivity was improved over the old WiFi card, in both speed and range. I haven't done the numbers, but the subjective improvement is vast. It's very well worth the $30 for this upgrade.

With such success, my hubris had me upgrade to Win 8.1 next. I had hoped there would be a stage where I could make an 8.1 install image CD or Flash drive, but alas, the Windows store update never gave me such an option. It went straight from download to install without any pause. I did not upgrade drivers at this time. I wanted to see what would happen with 8.1 on the old 8.0 drivers. The audio drivers had to be upgraded because they worked in Windows, but not in a Steam game (Bejewelled3). However, so far the Nvidia and Intel drivers from 8.0 are working under 8.1 just fine (knock wood) for every 3D app I've thrown at them.

There has been no touch screen inversion as some people reported.

    YMMV.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but i'm having a nightmare accessing the Bios on my Edge. I could get into the UEFI bios by windows 8 advanced boot menu, but when i'm there, i cannot change the boot order because it gives me an error like "WRITE_ACCESS_DENIED" or something like that when saving the new boot order.
I'm trying to boot from an usb.
Also plugging the keyboard in doesn't allow me to enter in bios using conventional ways.
    Is there something i'm missing?
    Thank you.

If I bought a used Edge from ebay and the original owner left his account on the tablet, is there a way I can bypass and restore the system without the passoword? I'm not sure that I will be able to obtain his password. Thanks!

Yes, just do a clean reinstall and format the SSD as part of the process. I'm not sure the edge shipped with a Windows recovery usb stick though, you might have to request one.

Anyone willing to sell a razer usb restore stick? i live in montana. i know razer ships them for free and have one. when i got it i realized it was a razer branded 16gb usb thumb drive and they are awesome. i want to keep one for intended purposes jic, but id like one to use as a flash drive and i dont want to scam a free one from razer just to get one. so if anyone has one they are willing to sell id love to buy it.

Does Razer have any plans to update the Edge? Maybe an Edge 2 or something of the like? With Maxwell's efficiency, I'm sure they could shove a lower-clocked or power-gimped variant of the GT 840M in there.

Are there any chances at an updated Edge? I would think that with newer CPU's that use less power that the battery life would be closer to 5-5.5hrs now and a 1600x900 or eve a 1440x900 screen would be possible.

For me Battery life was really why I never got one.

I had the same problem. My Razer Edge didn't get the same WiFi throughput as other machines in the same circumstances. People in this thread recommended an upgrade to the WiFi card, and that solved my problem. This is the card I upgraded to.

On a positive note, GTA V run amazingly great on the Razer edge.

Hello, I was hoping somebody could shed some light on my problem with my Razer Edge Controller. It seems that R2/L2 are acting like the same button and the LB/RB are acting like axis. I tested this with pinnacle game profiler. All the other buttons seem to function is there something I need to do to get these buttons to work right. I can't play any Steam games without at least 2 working triggers on both sides.

    Thanks much in advance!.

EDIT: Used the firmware updater and now it seems I can use all the buttons.

I did the same and updated the Wifi card to a dual band and got all the latest drivers yet the tablet still seems to like 2.4GHz over 5GHz. When it first boots it doesn't like to detect internet at all and takes a few to establish a connection.

    I give up.

Everything on my docking station works except for HDMI. I tried everything!

Graphics drivers are up to date, and tried to revert back, and nothing. Tried to disable the Nvidia card and keep the Intel card, and nothing. Tried it the other way around, and again nothing.

I'm feeling the HDMI itself on my dock is broken since it doesn't recognize it at all and not in any situation? Does anyone know any solution to this?

The other thing...can I use one of those USB 3 to HDMI adapters? Will it work with the Nvidia graphics?

USB to HDMI will now use the Nvidia graphics. As far as the dock is concerned, have you tried a different HDMI cable? I just figured I'd throw that out there since I've ran across bad HDMI cable before. If you've tried everything else, contact Razer and see if they will repair it. I had one fixed by them last year but it was free since it was still under warranty.

I tried 3 different cables, and nothing. But good to hear that USB to HDMI adapters now work with the Nvidia graphics! Any good adapter you recommend?

Thanks for your replies man. You're the reason this thread is still alive! :p

Damn I want a new gaming tablet, but no company is even slightly interested in making one.

Man I'm so sorry. I meant to type "not" and not "now". USB to HDMI will use the CPU to process the graphics so you won't be able to use the 640m at all. I think Razer made a huge mistake by not giving us a micro HDMI directly on the tablet but that's a topic for another day. Since you tried 3 different cables, I would advise calling Razer and see what they say. If you are not in the US, you are probably better off just cracking it open yourself and seeing if it's something that you can fix.

Well I'm not in the US right now, so I'll either try to find someone selling the dock or just opening it up and see what possibly be wrong.

    Thanks for your input :)

    Hi guys,

I've a big issue with my Edge, I'm unable to play any power-consuming games on it, neither with the Intel Hd, nor with the Geforce 640m LE. I opened up the Edge and I took some pictures. I noticed that two on the four metal pipes are detached of the motherboard. Is it a valid reason?
