    Hi

    I've had a Razer Edge Pro for about a bit over a few weeks now, and recently i upgraded the Wifi card to a Intel 7260 and I upgraded the Msata from a 120gb to a 500 gb Msata from Samsung. Now I am having trouble finding a way to get windows onto it..... does anyone know how to install windows 8.1 onto the tablet? I just need to put it on so i can use a recovery i have.

    It's funny that you ask that, because that's similar to what i've been doing the last few days. The short answer is that if you have a windows 8.1 Software Key, you can use microsoft's own program to create a USB installer. Here's the link to the article i used, because i only had a windows 8 key, but some of the steps will be the same for you:

    I tried using the windows 8 upgrade, and it did not work, so i tried using a standard windows 8 setup thing, and it says and i quote "this product key cannot be used to install a retail version of Windows 8.
    I'm still trying to figure out how to get this to work!! XD

    This is what i did:

    i used an adapter msata-usb and i cloned the old SSD with a program from Samsung, Samsung_Data_Migration_Setup_v27

    Aww.... I've been searching around and many people are selling it for around $400, which is out of my budget. I got the Tablet for $500 for I'd be paying 80% of what I paid for the tablet....

    Does anyone know what can cause battery 1 - 1% charging " message if I unplug the adapter the edge stays on and working fine but in programs like hwinfo64 says battery unknown" also the orange light in the power button don't light up while plugged and turned off

    I tried everything including unplugging the battery uninstalling from device manager plugging while tablet is on cleaning battery contacts checked the bios and there is no battery there so I don't know if that is normal

    sometimes the message change to battery not detected too this doesn't seems to affect the tablet functionality so if is a motherboard problem there is no reason to replace it what I wanted to know is if anyone here experience this and if a new battery,adapter or fresh install fixed it.

    I have been trying to restore by Razer using the official recovery USB device. I can get the recovery program to run just fine, but it starts going through the setup and then says "recovering" then "recovery complete...shutting down...." then shuts off. That's as far as it gets. Anyone have a similar problem or know what's causing this? I had windows 8.1 installed on it using my own usb/key, but I wanted to do a factory restore and that's not working

    A little update: the "recovering" portion gets to 35% everytime then jumps to "recovery complete....shutdown after..." then counts down and shuts off.

    I'm thinking it may be because of the way the harddrive is formatted. It's currently in NTFS. Is the main harddrive supposed to be FAT32?

    When I attempt to use the Usb recovery all I get is the Razer logo. If I press F1 on my keyboard (multi usb) all I get is a pitch black screen.

    That's the same guide i used you don't need the keyboard plugged in just use the Usb plug for the stick and push the buttons in the order it says. That worked perfect for me

    I can't get it to work, any chance of you posting a video so I have a rough idea? I've tried it 30 times now and nothing happens (all i get is the Razer Logo). Maybe my Msata is incompatible with the tablet..... hmmm.

    Hi I have tried coutless times holding the window button holding the power button, waiting for the green LED then letting go of the power button and pressing the volume down button, and i still fail :S

    my razer edge is only showing gt 640 core clock speed of 405 mhz.. even during gameplay.. why ?? and how to fix?

    Download GPU-Z and run it while gaming. You will get the full clock speed all the time like it should be. Most people have no clue about this and how much performance they are losing by it not running at full clock speeds unless they leave MSI afterburner running or the like to monitor the situation . It is a driver bug and optimus issue that has been there for quite sometime that seems to come and go. Ever since i found it i always leave Afterburner running to see what is going on then GPU-Z to force it to run at full speed if needed.

    I should mention also that this is plugged in. If you mean while running on battery it forces the clocks to 405/405 no matter what.

    With the new geforce drivers yes , the clocks are 405/405.
    I use version 337.61 the last that works on battery at 500/900.

    The Witcher 3 for PC was released today and i made a video playing on the Razer Edge Pro:

    Hello friends! I've happened upon a problem with me edge pro and hope someone here can help. Following an upgrade to Windows 8.1, the tablet became unable to

    1) shut down without a hard shutdown
    2) unable to wake from sleep

    I've already reset it with Razer's recovery media, which unfortunately didn't help. If anyone happens to have any information or thoughts on this I would much appreciate it! Cheers

    This sounds like something in your Bios changed when you updated. There is an option in there for "wake from sleep" which needs to have Bluetooth or USB selected. I remember back with windows 7, this could happen if your hibernate/sleep settings were too close to each other. The computer would hibernate when you tried to wake it up. As far as hard shutdowns, that sounds like the hybrid shutdown problem. Do a search in the start screen for "change what the power buttons do" and deselect the option for fast startup.

    Hi guys i have huge problem after plugging ac power cord smoke came from connection port and my razer edge won't turn on now. Now when i plug my power cord Ite controller under msata chip gets very hot but only that part. Now i want to ask if users with working ones experience same thing ? or did my mobo die completely ? Can anyone check it ? Cause mobo looks healthy to me maybe there is still hope :(

    If smoke spewed out of the machine in any way shape or form you are 99% sure the motherboard is toast sadly.

    I have had bad motherboards still have parts get hot on the board even when they are DOA so that is not unheard of because they are still getting power to other parts of the board is why . When a board go's bad its not always the whole thing maybe just a capacitor or the like but that is enough to say it is dead.

    But yes smoke means something cooked on the board .

    There is a motherboard for sale on Ebay i noticed and swapping a motherboard is a no brainer on these machines.

    Hi I having a problem with my razer edge when I go to the Internet and trying to select something and it don't do anything at all . You can touch the search bar and type what you need but when you trying to select the title nothing happened.

    Thanks for the reply! My UEFI doesn't have an option for "wake from sleep" at all. Also, no amount of changes to the power button options has solved the issues for me :( Any other ideas I could try! Thanks in advance!

    i have the razer edge pro 256gb and I have had the following issue lately. i was wondering if anyone can help?

    about 2 months ago, I was really worried as it wasn't charging at all so i got some new power cords and was frantically swapping them and trying different combos, then all of a sudden it started charging again just like that.

    about a week ago i put it on the table and it just switched off instantly as soon as i put it down. i then had to plug it back into the charger to get it started again as the power button wouldn't work until i did so. when it did come on it took 5 mins as obviously windows 8.1 has to repair the startup from the imporoper shut down. it has done this once before also when i put it on my lap to use it once

    yesterday i turned it on to use it and it had 10% battery left so i plugged the charger in. I didnt look at the indicator to see if it was charging, i just assumed it was. when i went back to it, i noticed it had died...the charger was, yet again, not charging it. since yesterday i have tried countless times to get it charging again but it wont turn on. I have 2 official chargers for this and it cant be both of them. i have tried 6 different cords as well so it cant be them.

    it must be down to a dodgy connector and/or the connection to the battery and/or board inside.

    i am in the UK so returning it back to Razer would be a complete mission...

    does anyone have any advice please? I spent so much money on this unit. I have the controller, the hdmi docking station and everything....
