Hey guys can you tell me how SWTOR runs on it? Curious to see how well it handles it. My M11x R1 can't handle it in the big cities or battlegrounds. I become CPU bound.

    Thanks

Ill try and post some internals pics later today. I haven't done my upgrade as while I got the msata already, I'm still waiting on the msata to USB enclosure to be able to clone the drive. The back cover is super easy to remove however, you take off the two screws and the back slides up and then lifts off.

I didn't have the heart to tear down further and see about the other stick of ram but unlike my blade I cannot justify a 16gb upgrade on a tablet just yet.

Thanks for sharing. If I had known that almost everything can be upgraded, I would have saved a few bucks and got the 128gb model. Oh well, I'm only interested in swapping out the wireless card at this point.

Not only is it the world's most powerful tablet, it's also the world's most upgradeable tablet.

Yeah, after I saw the YouTube video showing how easy it was to access, I ended up canceling my 256 and going with the 128 instead

I upgraded mine to 16GB of Vengeance. Yes there is another memory slot on that back of the system board, It really wasn't that bad to get to just make sure to unplug the LCD connectors under the fan. :)

Despite the lack of 5ghz in the wireless card, it does have Intel Widi. I installed the driver from Intel's site and I was able to send video from the Edge directly to my 55 inch LG. I don't know how well it will work for games but it should at least be fine for watching movies on the big screen without any wires.

My TV has Intel Widi built in. There are also a few adapters that you can purchase on Amazon that will hook up via HDMI and do the exact same thing. I may pick up a couple to use on my other Tv's in the house since they aren't that expensive.

i was looking at the intel- 6235 as a possible upgrade for the wifi card. its also got bt4.0 and widi and does n at 5ghz, but like the other poster said, i would love a half sized ac card

Yes a Wireless ac card would be nice and I'm sure we should see some pop up later this year. The 6235 isn't expensive so it could be a good placeholder for an ac card down the line.

I'll take mine apart and get 16 gigs installed and possibly a new adapter for 5ghz having to see how its soldered in. Have to use my Surface pro or samsung 500 in the mean time :(

Wish I made a video when I was breaking it down. (Not so good with a camera ) But I do have a picture I took and Highlighted the screw and cable location's. The main thing to keep in mind this is just like removing the Mbx out of a Dell laptop. You will need to flex the board a little bit to get it out of the casings.

Im a newb at getting pictures up on these things :( Link to the picture = https://copy.com/7yYor9UtleTV

Considering the 64gb edge is readily available at Bestbuy and Amazon, I think $850 to $900 would be a fair price. I also have a surface and I have no plans to get rid of it. I use the pen to take notes and it's also easier to hold than the edge. If you just need a tablet for general use, the Surface is a better deal in my opinion. When it comes to gaming, raw power, and upgradeability, the Edge absolutely blows every other tablet out of the water.

Did some more benchmarking of my Razer Edge... almost an hour of Heaven benchmark and it remained stable. The temperatures seem to top out at 75c under extreme load.

The fans aren't really loud at all... you could play this in public fairly easily without disturbing others.

Dam so it looks like my Razer Edge has been bricked. I started playing Rocksmith and I wasn't even playing for 5 minutes before the system just froze. I turned it off and back on and now it's stuck at the Razer Logo. Razer says to let it sit at the logo for about 30 minutes because it may be rebuilding the system due to some windows update. If it doesn't come back on, I will have to call them back.

Also, he said that the gamepad and dock may not be available for another 2 weeks and it could possibly be longer than that.

Edit: After about 15 minutes, the Edge booted back up as normal. Rocksmith is also working fine now so it may have been just some sort of bug.

This is a Windows 8 kind of bug, Something to do with UEFI and how Windows 8 starts up. Something to do with how POST has been moved into the OS startup. So if the OS has issues. It will look like you are stuck at POST.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this but I didn't feel like reading 200 posts so...

Anyone know if there is going to be a refresh of this coming soon with the newer GPU's coming out? Really want to buy this thing but don't want to get it now and end up having a newer model come out like a month later!!

Well it's only been out a little over a month and it's still hard to find the 256gb models. I doubt we will see a refresh within the next few months. I'm sure it will be refreshed at some point just like every other laptop out there.

    Hey everyone,
So i convinced my brother to get a razer edge, he's been gaming on consoles for a while and i thought this was a great way to transition and experience games on pc with the gamepad controller. Since the gamepad and the dock have not been available we really haven't been able to test any games on it. So I wanted to ask have you found any games that work well in tablet mode? I thought FTL would work but it's not working for me.

Yeah don't hold your breath. As usual Razer is unable to meet demand. I think it will be months before the accessories become in stock again. Once the keyboard dock is available, I expect it will sell out within minutes.

AFAIK. the majority of Windows games are not optimized for touch. Civ 5 is touch enabled but I have not personally tried that one since it's not my type of game. You best option right now is to either get a mouse, keyboard, and stand or just use a stand and a standard xbox controller.

I wonder why it's taking so long for the accessories to become available. They have no real direct competition with the Edge so they can get way with this for now. Once other companies start making gaming tablets, they need to get their act together or they will lose customers. I got tired of waiting for the Ouroboros since I didn't want to pay a scalper's price so I ended up buying a Logitech G700s. After using it for a couple of weeks, I have no intention of even buying the Ouroboros.

Speaking of scalpers prices i saw the controller on Ebay a few days ago for $400 plus i think it was $40 shipping and i guess it sold. Sadly people are desperate and eventually cave in i guess since after all most people did not really buy the tablet to just sit at a desk and use it like a small monitor to game on. I know i wont be using mine that way and will be freaking out till i can buy the controller for it lol.

Amazing they can build so many tablets but for every what seems 100 tablets there is 1 controller to sell along with it. Bleh

Maybe quality control is absolutely horrible on the accessories because frankly it does not make sense to me period. It should be the opposite where there are no tablets but controllers and such are just collecting dust .

I've been following that $400 gamepad on ebay. Looking at the completed auctions, it looks like he has sold at least 5 or 6 and he just keeps re-listing them. I have to admit that I have been eyeing that dock that's $189 after shipping but I figure that if I held out this long, I can hold out a few more weeks.

Since the gamepad is a huge selling point for the Edge, they should have produced at least one gamepad for each tablet. If it was not important, they should have sent all the reviewers just the tablet without the gamepad and dock.

I would be happy with a used gamepad as long as it worked fine if it meant not waiting a month or longer.

If i have to wait that long i doubt i will last just using it as a tablet or a desktop PC .

My friend never bought one and he wanted it originally more then i did simply because he could not get the controller at the same time and now he does not want it at all .

Wonder how many sales Razer blew because of that scenario ? id be willing to wager they lost a TON because of people not being able to order accessories at the same time.

Seeing that this is one if not the only forum talking about the Edge i really hope the Razer people are reading this thread whether they can fix the lack of accessory issue or not they need to hear it loud and clear.

You do not launch a product without accessories and they had it backwards because no one wants just the tablet with nothing else and you are losing sales.

And yes every single review made such a big deal about the gamepad and yet can i get mine with a gamepad ? Nope sorry just enough for the 1200 reviewers and none for you guys who actually bought one .........................

PS: if anyone bought a controller and was just not happy with it or never think they will use it etc etc ill be happy pay you exactly what you paid. I have seen a few comments where people did not think the controller was anything special so it never hurts to ask.

I'd also be happy to get my hands on a used controller and if I knew that they were going to be so scarce, I would have bought one in the very beginning when everything went on sale.

Has anyone here tried Rocksmith on the Edge? That seems to be the only game I'm having trouble with. I can play Crysis all day long but I can't stay in Rocksmith more than 10 minutes without the Edge crashing. It crashed 5 times on me tonight and I had to reset the Edge with the power button each time. The last time it crashed, I got a windows error that said "WHEA uncorrectable error". I have not modified my Edge and I only have games installed so there must be some sort of bug with the 640le or the Rocksmith game.

Maybe it's the guitar causing the conflict ? I don't know much about the game but I thought it requires a special controller.

Crysis 3. The edge handles it very very well.

That could be it. I used the same guitar and cable on the blade and never had a issue. I may troll the Rocksmith boards and see if someone over there has run into a similar problem.

Go into the Nivida control panel and change your global GPU to the "High Performance Nvida GPU" For some reason on Windows 8 alot of games do not like the Intel GPU :(, Heads up by doing this you will get less battery life :p

I bought the 64gb Edge with the idea of upgrading to a bigger SSD later, but I also have a 64GB usb 3.0 flashdrive and I wanted to test If I would be able to install games on it and play off the usb stick. I installed a few games on the usb stick and they all play with no problems, I played far cry 3 and did not notice any lag or long loading times. I also tested skyrim, x-com enemy unknown and fifa 13 so hopefully this will work well enough for the few games I want to play for now.

Awesome. That's really the only thing you can do unless you upgrade the 64gb SSD since half of it is used from the OS.

    Is this the one?

Yep that is it and the one i plan on getting myself eventually. That is about as cheap as you are going to find it give or take 2 dollars.

I looked fairly hard but nothing that still retains bluetooth and the faster speeds. All the 450meg cards have no bluetooth that i have found.

I want to keep my bluetooth :).

Can someone make a vid when swapping out the wifi? I'm very green when it comes to upgrading internal hardware and want to make sure I'd be following proper procedures. Thanks

I got the 128 from Amazon recently. What is up with this whole wifi thing? I'm getting tired of it. Windows 8 kind of sucks.. have to keep updating drivers etc. So I downloaded drivers from Razer website.. but wifi still sucks. Low connectivity, can't even transfer 1 gb file from my server.. any suggestions ?
