So have you seen a significant change in the wifi?? I'd hate to crack open the edge if its not a big difference

I'm not having any wifi issues with the stock card. I just wish it was 5G

anyone can help me out, has anyone got 1TB external HDD working? or what's the max space razer can read?

I just plugged in my WD 1TB external drive and it works fine.

For anyone looking to get into the BIOS just plug in a keyboard and mash the F1 during boot or reboot . You can disable secure boot, hyperthreading, turbo and a few other things
You can also access the bios without the keyboard but its a longer process using the power menu in Windows 8 but yes its possible to get to the UEFI BIOS screen that way just not worth the hassle. -
Also, a heads up... If you need a really awesome case/sleeve for the Edge, I just picked up the USAGear FlexArmor one off amazon and it fits perfectly.
(Link: Amazon.com: USA Gear FlexARMOR X Protective Sleeve Case for Razer Edge Pro (RZ09) 10.1-inch Gaming Tablet & Portable PC - Includes Capacitive Stylus: Computers & Accessories ) - It cost me about 12.99 plus a 2.99 for shipping and got here in about 5 days.
It feels pretty rugged... like if you dropped your Edge it would definitely keep it from cracking the screen (not that you'd ever want to drop your Edge ever)

What games has everyone been playing on their Edge? I'm curious how well something like Might & Magic Heroes VI would do and if a keyboard is a must (after initial setup) for this and other turn based games outside of Civ 5 with its built in touch controls.

M&M is very playable as far as I'm concerned. Just don't expect 60 FPS...
EDIT: More like 35 FPS... sometimes higher... during combat, I was getting about 30ish. Either way, it was very playable. I got through an entire game with my brother with no hiccups.
Be advised though that you need to download Uplay manually from ubisoft's site... Might and Magic will attempt an automated install, and it will crash and fail every time you try to launch the game. To fix this you need to download Uplay from ubisoft (preferably before trying to launch Might and Magic for the first time) -
even though ive done mine already, if i get a chance ill try making a vid detailing the upgrade for it and a new msata ssd drive. ive been holding off doijg the ssd upgrade till my msata to usb3 adapter gets in so i can just clone it instead of dooing a reinstall -

You can play with just a mouse...
Though you will need a keyboard to enter any cd-keys or push shift-tab to make that annoying steam pop-up go away -
Just got my Edge 128GB from Amazon. Hoping the accessories will be available soon.
Anyway, I'm curious - how has everyone without the gamepad or dock been playing their games? I tried to play Fallout: New Vegas with just the controller plugged in today and propping it up was difficult. I think I'm going to try using my wireless keyboard and mouse later, but I'd love to hear what you guys have been doing.
Other than that, I love the device. Having a full-power PC this small is great. -
I have an ipad wire stand that holds it perfectly with enough space for the power cable underneath it to fit along with a micro USB Bluetooth dongle and Ps3 controller using motionjoy. Doing this till my controller arrives.
This thing is the greatest thing since sliced bread and I have owned some amazing laptops and desktops.
I have the i5 model by the way. CPU stays pegged at 2400mhz on both cores gaming and is In no way remotely bottlenecked from the Gpu. The gpu is the weakest link but amazing for this resolution.
Anyone looking to go a little cheaper and get the i5 model and a bigger SSD won't be disappointed  -
Do you guys know specifically which processor the i5 and the i7 is?

Games for Windows Live doesn't work at all for me. I can't bring up the interface in Arkam City or anything. The game is still playable though.

This is the stand I'm using. It's fully adjustable and works with most tablets. It should do until my dock arrives.
Amazon.com: AmazonBasics Portable Fold-Up Travel Stand for the new iPad, iPad 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 7.0, Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Touch (Black): Computers & Accessories -
Hey just an update... to get Games for Windows games (arkham city, GTA, etc...) working on the Edge you need to download the Games for Windows client manually. The game you're using may install GFW itself...and this messes up on Windows 8, so uninstall GFW ...reboot...and download the installer from the Microsoft website. Make sure to right click the installer and set "run as administrator" and compatibility mode for Win7
In terms of Arkham City performance, on medium I'm getting anywhere from a solid 60FPS indoors to low 25's at times. It seems that the areas with lots of smoke or fog effects are what drive the framerate into the 20's (Such as Mr. Freeze's lab)
I should also note that the game still has the rare bouts of stuttering that are present even when I play on my M17x. At the end of the day, Arkham City is a console port - and not fully optimized even after all this time. If the game weren't so epic, I might hesitate to encourage people to put up with it.... but that being said, this is probably one of my favorite games of all time.
The slowdowns are rare and I'm sure you could eliminate them by running the game on Low... but I just can't bring myself to do that for this game. If you can put up with typical console-port hiccups, it is very playable on the Razer Edge. -
That game is still broken on the best of rigs in dx11 and best to be played in dx9 if you are not doing so already.
I was seeing massive performance drops for such a small visual difference and more so on the small screen. -
hey guys. I've been playing with my Edge Pro (256GB) for just over a week now. Overall i'm blown away with it's awesomeness. I've moved from an ASUS G73 to the Edge and I personally find that the Edge fulfills on the promise of mobile gaming better than any "gaming notebook" ever could - basically because it transforms any spare time you have into a gaming session. Compare that to the ROG/Alienware/Clevo world where it's still a "process" to setup and play some games for a bit (requiring room and a level surface to start with).
Mine has all of the trimmings: docking station, gamepad controller, glare protector, spare batt, etc. Overall I love the gamepad controller (hate that you have to buy battery seperate) and i think that the docking station has issues - the stand sits the edge up too straight and not shipping it with a power supply is simply criminal. criminal.
i've shot a lengthy video review with about 40mins of commentary and another 20mins of ingame videos for people debating whether or not to pick up one of these badboys. You can see it over at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BPin0Rp1vk.
anyway - this badboy is epic. love it. -

Microsoft was on the right track when they put a usb port on the surface brick even though it doesn't carry data. Since the dock connector on the edge carries data and power, I don't see why they couldn't integrate a usb hub directly on the power brick. -
My complaint is less with the brick and more with the charging port... it's not a very secure fit, and I only see it loosening up over time to the point where any downward pressure will pop the power cord out of the tablet. It's a minor gripe but meh.
If I were you, I'd skip the controller attachment all together and just use a standard Xbox controller or a Razer Onza... it's much easier to throw a controller in your pack than lug that giant piece of kit around.
I really just want the keyboard dock... that would solve all my problems, give me an extra battery slot, and enough USB ports for a headset and mouse. -
charging port needs magnets like the surface or macbook air

Got Windows 7 working on my edge along with the controller after some serious amounts of creative thinking .... Its stopping you from finishing the Windows 7 install because of the Windows 7 VGA driver its trying to use on our display so it bluescreens right before Windows wants to initially start after setup.
I had to use Acronis and my M17xR4 backup to get it working because it had optimus running on it and an Intel driver already there to atleast help get the rest of it going.
I wont get into why i want Windows 7 on my tablet and right now the touch screen is backwards for touch commands and there is no on screen keyboard but ill be working on that and beyond that games run flawlessly along with the Razer controller.
If there is a way to inject the razer intel HD 4000 into the WIndows 7 install then it might work without using some sort of backup from another computer and i know you can add drivers to your install with a bit of work.
I was tempted almost not to post this info figuring people would say why do you even want Windows 7 but i know there are some people out there like me who either want the challenge or just want Windows 7 and hate Windows 8 so this is for you guys/gals.
 -
I'm hoping a Win8 service pack will improve things a bit...but yeah I've fantasized about putting Win7 on my Edge for some time now. -
Yeah i have my reasons as well. I got the on screen keyboard working for basic stuff it just does not work with the hardware button since the Razer launcher will not let me install it in Windows 7 so its just the touch screen having issues but if i have to use a mouse im fine because its faster for me anyhow and im not a fan of touchscreen and windows to begin with so its worth the sacrifice.
-
im currently uploading a short vid instruction onto youtube on how to do the wifi or ssd swap. its pretty much the first time ive done any kind of instructional video so bear with me, and dont sue me if you get motion sickness or break your edge because of the video. i have just enough money to fake my own death in the event of a lawsuit
it should be up shortly.

The on screen? You mean the razer logo ? If you mean that it's part of the bios.

All I did was use the auto installer which is the first link on that page. Once it installed. I opened Widi on the Edge and opened Widi on my TV. Are you able to see what the message is? Which Widi device are you trying to connect to? Maybe you can try to uninstall the intel driver and start again from scratch.
-
thats what i did and no i cannot read the message it closes too fast i have a netgear ptv box but on the edge widi doesnt even open to connect with it
i use the automatic detect and update is that it? -
thetruth1983 Notebook Evangelist
I also used the automatic detect option. I installed it right over the old drivers and it went smooth. I do want to mention that by the time I installed the driver, I had already installed all of the windows updates. I did not have any issues and it connected to the TV on the first try. Try to remove the old driver and then install the new one. If that doesn't work, I really don't know what the issue could be since it worked for me with no problems.

Did a fresh install of Windows 7 this morning instead of using the backup i had from Acronis. touch screen is still backwards and upside down and intitally the screen will be upside down as well but can be easily changed by right clicking the desktop and under screen resolution changed the pull down bar to landscape flipped.
To get Windows 7 to install you will need to disable Secure boot from the bios and inject the intel HD driver from Razers website into the Windows 7 installer using RT Seven Lite or Vlite . The razer driver will come in a RAR archive and you just extract the archive to where ever then you add the graphic driver portion of the extracted folder by clicking on the Razer.inf file under the integration tab then driver tab of R7 lite, Vlite will probably be similar. That is all you have to do to get Win7 up and running.
Everything works fine except the touch screen and i really am still not sure how to get it working properly. There might be a driver in Windows 8 for the touch screen that can be migrated back to Windows 7 but i have not made it that far.
Im not a big Windows touch screen guy to begin with and nothing matches a small portable bluetooth mouse but yeah everyone has different needs.
Figured i would keep sharing what i am figuring out and im sure there are some lurkers who have been waiting for someone to make this happen. -
I was wondering if anyone got screen protector on their edges , and if so did you get it from razer? And is it foggy or glossy.
-
truth1983 maybe i got confused but when i read ur post i think in page 21 you said that it might not have 5ghz
but widi works i assume that u have the original wireless card right, or did u upgraded? -
