just to be clear this fan don't works out of the box i have to do two holes with a drill on the fan to make it fit in there

also the cables was on the wrong order i have to swap the yellow for the black to make it work with the motherboard

i contact my friend and he told me the fan was from a toshiba laptop but he can't remember the model and that was the only one he has like that

check on ebay i saw one from a toshiba tecra that looks pretty much the same :)

Looks like now we need a review of notebook fans. Make a top 10 of them based on cooling capabilities and noise.

Without a doubt Clevo is number one when it comes to massive copper cooling. I'm hoping Alienware takes a hint with it's next M17x/M18x and is liberal with the copper. Those temps are amazing speedy.

Finally got my laptop back from repairs and everything is great thus far.

The gtx480m is a nice boost too, old overclocked gtx280m gave me a P6701 score and this card overclocked gives me a P9988 score.

Temps are better then my old card nothing over 73C and my old card would hit that easy and then some...

There is so much more potential but need to up the voltage of this card!! ugh

So you two have the GTX 480 and how do you feel it is during games, heat etc.. How do you think sli will be compared to the 260 and 280s.

M18x? is there gonna be a 18" alienware gaming laptop ? Maybe with SLI 480, that being the reason they started designing a 18" chasis ?

so far the max I have tried is 607/1400/1215...

I am currently using nvidia inspector... is there a way to save clocks so they dont go back to default on shutdown?

I tried to you nvidia's powermizer but no go on saving clocks...going to try msi afterburner later tonight when I get home

wow that's good mine won't go more than 530 core the memory is already to high and it won't do difference on vantage at 1300mhz or 1400mhz

and what i did is create a executable icon with the saved clocks on nvidia inspector but you have to click on it every time you want to overclock :)

I noticed that between 1300 and 1400 no diff really so I kept it at 1300...

good call on the saved clocks and just write a statup script or setup a tasked schedule

Is the GPU thermal threshold 105C on this card?

Srsly? That is the stock clock of the desktop card, I don't see how you could reach such clock rates without upping the voltage. Otherwise, please run some benchmark at those clocks, performance should be on par with the desktop GTX 465 but so should power draw and heat.

no is just overclock GPU. i can try a run with the CPU overclocked but the max i can OC. the CPU. is 3400mhz with SETFSB. something is limiting my speed on the bios

he try to run vantage at those clocks but it crashes the max he achieve on vantage was 510 core clock

Yup stock clocks except the mem clock was not... with those clocks I can game fine and ran fur mark stability test with no issues and temps hit 95C.

Like speedy said I could not run vantage without it crashing... highest stable clock for vantage was 510/1020/1320.

Going to have to wait for nibitor to release a version that supports the 480m... hopefully soon because at those above clocks temps only reach 73C max.

yes, i bought that same version for my desktop 480. they said they were still working on adding the 480m

leave the memory completely alone and just move the core. find the highest bench able core freq first.

task schedule is a sure bet.

    great job!!
what part of which test(1 2 or 3)

i try to adjust the core and shader only and the max core stable was 544

after that i try raising the memory too and the max stable clock was 544/1350/1088

my temps are good just re paste the GPU with IC diamond and the max temp on vantage was 67c

so without the extra voltage i can't do nothing else at the moment i think with a little more this card can be a real gtx 465 desktop card :)

    that's fantastic speedy!
10k on stock (0850)voltage is great! considering all other cards are 1.0 up to 1.15. once the voltage is unlocked, this card will really fly.
heard a lot of jokes about it's a furnace. or it will heat your house or it's hotter than the sun and you need this and that...*looks around and wonders where they are all at now* same people talked about it not beating a 5870.*looks for those people as well*...great job proving them wrong!
