Strange, I've installed nearly every texture pack I can find and I never stray far from 60fps with GPU ~98%. Check device manager to make sure the correct graphics drivers actually installed, and maybe use MSI afterburner to check GPU utilization.

check performance settings in control center.

& check your power plan is on high performance

other than that, the game should run an easy 60

Hello. Maybe you guys could help. Here's my info:

    Graphics Card: Radeon 7970m

AMD Catalyst Driver Version: 13.5 beta 2

    Operating System: Windows 7 Professional

Issue Details: Low FPS, GPU under-utilization

Games with under-utilization issue: Lord of the Rings Online

    CPU Details: 3630qm

Motherboard or System Make & Model: Alienware M17X R4

    Motherboard BIOS Version: Not sure

So basically, I'm getting horrible FPS in cities. The game drops to 20 FPS with dives into single digits, and GPU-Z is showing my card performing at 47% load, and only 450mhz and 300mhz for the memory. Any ideas of why this is happening? My friend with the 680m gets consistent 60+ FPS in the same areas where I'm struggling.

Make sure powerplay is not on in the CCC. This is what keeps your clocks so low, it is a battery saving feature.

Turns out I had some weird issue with my power supply. Plugging it into a different socket fixed the problem completely. I may need to buy a new power supply if this continues to happen, but as of now it's fixed.

I haven't really checked it too much because the card seems to be functioning properly now, but I did notice it ramped up the memory usage and the load usage when I was playing EQ2. Load was around 60% in quieter sections but then jumped up to 75%+ at some points. I guess I should run more thorough tests to see if it's performing correctly.

What is the normal usage rate for the 7970m when it's performing correctly?

Just ran a quick test. Played EQ2 and the usage stayed around 50%, but I was still getting high FPS. 60-100 in most cases with pretty high settings.

Since I installed the Mobility Radeon 13.4 driver on my P150em, NFS Shift2 unleashed doesn't run properly anymore. With the 13.1 driver, the game ran in full hd and everything on max details very well, but now it's stuttering really much. Reinstalled the physX engine but it didn't help (physX engine is required for the game).

    I'm using Win7Prof 64Bit.

Anyone an idea what it could be?

I have found something strange, I installed the other day the new 13.5 beta2 unifl from Leshcatlab, and here is the strange behavior:
when playing minecraft, the radeon does not stay at full speed, it fluctuates, goes down to 300mhz gpu / 450mhz ram, but the thing is that there is no fps drop, it stays at a constant 30fps (mindcrack FTB)
and utilization goes to 60-70%, and then goest back to full speed and utilization down to 25%

For anyone still having Enduro problems I found that the way you install drivers can have an affect on the gpu's utilization and performance, try disabling any internet security software you may have before installing new drivers, delete the AMD folder from C: and do an express uninstall of the older drivers before installing any new ones, also if you're installing any WHQL drivers install them as an admin. I've been using this method for a while now and I've found a few games that were getting sub par performance are now all getting over 90% utilization, there are a couple of games that I still get issues with but it's much better than when I first got the laptop. Don't expect this to fix all everything like I said it doesn't sort every game, AMD kind of dropped the ball with their Enduro stuff and I'm doubtful we'll ever see a complete fix for it

I have modified the new enduro driver.

    Catalyst 13.6 beta Fixed (13.101.0.0) : download

    Non-official Catalyst 13.x Fixed (12.105.3) : download

    Fixed = directx9 max load rate !

***For Windows 7/8 users to install and use this you need to disable the driver signature enforcement.***

I'm seeing significant performance increase in CoD4 with your driver fix!

I went from.. 93 fps ~80% GPU utilization at the same spot to... ~ 150 fps. 99% GPU utilization.

    Thanks for this.

AMD really needs to incorporate the fix officially. This made a SUBSTANTIAL difference in game responsiveness (because it was stuttering before as well).

This really shows that the card has excellent potential, but AMD's driver effort was (and still is) poor.

The fix seems to work great on all DirectX 9 games/applications. Increased 3DMark Vantage score a little too.

But DirectX 11 utilization was sadly not fixed (e.g. BF3 still stuck at ~ 79-85% utilization). Definitely a step in the right direction. AMD needs to incorporate this kind of fix in their official driver updates.

Quick question. I'm kinda happy with the latest WHQL. But I would like to try these new drivers. Which one did you install? The Catalyst 13.6 Beta Fixed? or the Non-official Catalyst 13.x Fixed (12.105.3)?

    Thank you!

Edit: Any body also tried these drivers with Guild Wars 2? And Crysis 3?

    This seems truly fantastic!

Some small questions, Which of the two You linked do you recommend installing ?
How do you disable the driver signature enforcement?
And which way of installing do we need to do? I guess the latest Intel driver still does not work with this? So uninstall the old catalyst and install this one ?

Thank you for all your help!

    Thank you for this.

I tried to install the 13.6 Beta. I was able to install the drivers properly.

But I got a CLIstart.exe error after restart. Stating that I am missing MSVCR110.dll. I have found these files in my computer and i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. I also installed with the driver signature enforcement disabled.

any help would be greatly appreciated!! =)

EDIT: okay.. got it to work. I installed microsoft c++. Now I'll test it on games. Still at work. Will give it a try in half an hour. Thanks again!

Drivers are working great. Just tried it on Guild wars 2. Even in WvW, It is smooth. It will lag due to the sheer number of players, but when fighting medium numbers vs medium, it stays at around 30ish fps.

Crysis 3 99% util. but then again I never had issues with Crysis 3. Sorry can't test gw2.

Side Note: Anybody play rift with the 7970m? If I max it I only get about 25fps but util is only around 60%. Cant decide if it's util issue or if the game is poorly optimized. And I monitor CPU as well, which only hits about 20% so I know it's not bottlenecking.

The blue screen is caused by him disabling ULPS in the mod. Simply go into Safe Mode and re-enable ULPS via the Registry or MSI Afterburner, and the BSOD will be solved.

You need .NET Framework 4.5 and Visual C++ 2012 runtime libraries installed for the new Catalyst Control Center.

Here's a more generalized solution (based on LeeKM's proof-of-concept driver mod):

p.s. Performance Fix not working with all Dx9 games :( similary watch the FPS and %usage (40-60) drop in some games :( maybe modified CCC will be better?

World of Tanks and World of Warplanes have 45-65% GPU usage and not more. With and without fix same result.

p.s. how to get it to work at x64?

I've been playing it only for few minutes, but so far it is OK. With vsync it is capped at 60fps maxed except supersampling, with supersampling on, the GPU is utilised 99% all the time and around 35-45 fps. But I prefer solid 60. Game isn't damanding at all..
