Alright, thnx a lot, that's all that I needed. So your memories are also designed to work at 1Ghz.
And I suppose your memories are Samsung right?
-
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
That's right.
-
Now my memory is 1A, but it won't run at 1GHz. 950 is the max I can get out of it. I'd assume this is because of tightened timings of the memory, which can be more beneficial than increased frequencies. I've also set my memory to timing set 4 vs 0, so that may be to blame for the inability to 1ghz.

Hi,
This TurboCache confuses me!
It is said that it works with 4GB of ram, but I only have 4GB of ram think system need some of that, especially in game!
So if I upgrade to 8 or 6 GB of ram, will my 9800M GTX take 4GB of it so I get 1700 MB graphic card instead of 1024 ???
-------------------------------------
Total Available Graphics Memory: 2813 MB
Dedicated Video Memory: 1024 MB
System Video Memory: 0 MB
Shared System Memory: 1279 MB
----------------------------------------
Here you have a video, Click Watch in HD and pause it at 0.11 then read description ["Radeon HD 4850 (512 Mb)"] and take a look at "Resoruce Usage: 1419/494 MB"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAokJ0KSDn0&feature=related
WHY ??? -
TurboCache is ONLY used when NEEDED. 99% of games won't use the 1GB of VRAM. TurboCache is mostly a gimmick to make novice gamers feel better about their resources. Take what you know about turbo cache and throw it in the trash. Its 100% completely useless and you will never have a need for it.
-
The idea is that if the graphics card needs more memory than it has it can use some of the system RAM, but as emike says the 9800m GTX has more than enough memory already and doesn't really need this feature. -
Even 2560x1600 doesn't use up a full gig of video memory.
-
Look up any recent GPU benchmark and you'll notice a clear difference between 512MB and 1GB cards at 2560x1600. It's certainly recommended for anyone looking at a CF 4870 setup to get the 1GB cards for 1920 x 1200, and a requirement for 2560x1600.
But it doesn't make a difference for a laptop because..
A: there's not enough horsepower to run the games at that res in the first place and
B: why even suggest a laptop when it will spend the majority of its time connected to a 30" monitor? Just get a proper desktop.
Anandtech Check out the Fallout 3 bench at 2560 x 1600 here... the 1GB GTS got 50% more perf than the 512 version, and it even beat sli 512 GTS and the 512 4870. That tells you 1GB framebuffer is a prereq for that res... -
Sure I don't need TurboCache ???

Ok, the whole problem with Turbo Cache is its using system memory. Your system memory is not near as fast or powerful as the memory on the GPU. It also functions similar to a hard drive in the fact that there can only be one path accessing the memory per refresh. So throw in all the access calls from normal memory operations (which are already being taxed in a game like GTA IV) and include the GPU in those operations, and you have extremely overused system memory. This will actually equate out to a drop in system performance, completely destroying any usefulness of turbocache.
Like I said, its Nothing but a GIMMICK to make you feel like you could be getting more. Its not worth wasting your time. -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Your game is still going to run sluggish. Most desktops will struggle to get over 30fps with those settings let alone your T9600 and 9800M GTX. If you want to use Turbo Cache so badly then get yourself a laptop with a 9400M. Be grateful that your laptop is capable of playing the game smoothly. -
Thanks man
Ok, I get around 29fps with this settings...
Thanks -

lol
Ok, I get around 29fps with this settings...
Thanks[/QUOTE]
Haha, I'm calling shenanigans on that. -
No shenanigans at all! I pull 35-40fps @ 1680x1050 with my hardware! 29fps with his is VERY reasonable. Especially if an OCing is occuring.

With out OC

i was very sad cause i could never hit the 10k mark with my laptop ;(
now today i ran a test just 4 fun with latest nvidia driver and somehow i dont know how i hit 10k. i know many of you have better results but im happy with that. see my system specs in the picture or @ my sig
greetings flode
ps. no oc never ...
-
Yeah with Dox drivers 185.68 and 185.85 I get around 10005 with a p9500, 4gb ram, 9800m gtx vista32. This is with no overclock.
-
I was hoping to upgrade my 9262 SLI from the 8800m to the 280s but if the 9800m is going to be the last GPU offered I may pick up a couple of those instead. However the 9800m was going for about $700 each six months ago and unless the price has fallen significantly I'll just hang onto the 8800m's a bit longer. -
Travesty, I've got one of those 'last batch' 9800m GTX cards, which has not even been used yet. I'd be willing to sell it to you for $450.
-
Thx emike, if I ever get a pricing on another one I'll let you know. Does your 9800m GTX have the bios for the 9262?
-
The new card I just got does. Its stock with the 0617 vBIOS.

does any one have a guide to flash the vbios? and how and what to do.

no guide...but i can show you in a few

yeah i just created a new thread tell my what you think

Hi guys I have asked this before but no one answered.
Can someone that has the HDMI working with the 0617 BIOS on the 9800M GTX that is shipped with the M570TU/ SAger 5797 upload that BIOS somewhere?
My HDMI is only working with the 0608 BIOS, which sucks.
Thanx. -
Hi! Anyone can send me or tell me where I can find the latest 608 bios please? Thanks
-
Just a quick question:
Does the 9800M GTX from the M570TU works in SLI in the D900C ?
Or is the 9800M GTX in the D900C different from the one in the M570TU ? -
dondadah88 Notebook Nobel Laureate
i think there the same thing. you would have to look in the back of the card and see if you see the sli port.....
-
There is always SLI Connector, maybe a VBIOS flash is needed.

After reading through the many posts in this thread have a question regarding which driver is best for gaming?
If understood correcly a driver best for benchmarking is not necessarily best for gaming and vicerversa.
Some of the posts mention various drivers but the "youngest" is 180.44. Now LaptopVideo2go is at 195.62. -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
The best overall driver for games is 186.81 WHQL. If you plan to play the latest released games like Dirt 2 and other big titles of Q4 2009/Q1 2010, you might want to try 196.34 beta.
-
soviet sunrise I want to download 186.81 but http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/xp/186.81/disclaimer
as you see the modded inf isn't available now! -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
You can download 186.81 WHQL directly from Nvidia. It will support the 9800M GTX just fine.
The compiled .inf for 186.81 WHQL on LV2G is there. Look harder. -

try new drivers and see what happens...the newest drivers turn on some new features that the older ones dont. and you can down load them from nvidia.com.

hello guys,
id like to flash a 280m bios to my 9800m gtx this sound run fine right?
is there a faq or something?
greetings flode -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Flashing the GTX 280M BIOS onto your 9800M GTX is redundant. It's not going to restore the 16 shader cores that are physically severed in the die.

Can the owners of 9800m gtx and m570tu post your temps? In your opinion, is a 90C normal? In NiBitor 90C is set as the critical temperature....
-
Hello anmatheextreme, max for me was about 70°C the cars is overclocked to 580/1500/800
Regards. -

joemoule thanx for posting. My basic problem is that when my card hits 90C, it downclocks to protect itself from overheating. And the weird thing is that I run it in stock clocks. Right now, my notebook is on rma and hope to repair it. I would really like to overclock it to the limit....
Keep posting temps -
I used to have 600/1500/900 on my 9800M GTX and it generally reached 86-87 max during gaming. But during the summer, where I was living temps easily got to +35C and the card reached 90C after about half an hour. I solved the problem by raising the bottom of the notebook.
By comparison, my 280M reaches 92-93C max after hours of gaming - 610/1525/900. -
what voltages you have on your gpu blacky
-
-
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
If I just raise the critical temperature from 90C to 100C, i will propably have problem ehh? On time that the critical temperature mechanism stack and didn't downclock my card, it reached on 15mins 97C and I'm pretty sure that if I had let it a little more, it would reach 100-102C.
-
97C in what? gaming?
-
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
Yeah in-game Crysis on medium-high 97C only one time and 100C to Furmark. Isn't it abnormal?
-
It's too high even for a 9800M GTX. It shouldn't go above 95C.
-
anmatheextreme Notebook Consultant
Now that Ifixed that, I get 90C max o FurMark and 81C on crysis all high spec 2xAA. This is the first time I can enjoy NFS Shift without cut on frame while racing on this laptop! How much can I in your opinion gain when I get it from 1920x1200 to 1680x1050. Is it 2-3 fps or no need to lose quality?
